Conveniently located near my hotel so I walked over. It was between lunch and dinner so not super busy but still a few diners. I was seated right away - complete with hot rolls, whipped butter, and a pail of peanuts. My waitress was pleasant. She checked on me enough but not too much. My food: 6 oz sirloin, grilled shrimp, sweet potato and veggies, came out quickly. I love the seasoning on the shrimp. The steak was cooked exactly the way I requested - it was tender and delicious. We had a very nice dinner on the small patio accompanied by our two big dogs. The two young ladies tending bar also attended to us. They were positively lovely and truly made us feel welcome. They understood hospitality ----very caring and attentive. Husband's smoked prime rib was done exactly as he ordered it (sometimes difficult to get rare on a prime rib, but they did it). My salmon was also done perfectly (also rare) and the Caesar dressing had a nice balance of lemon and olive oil. Great stop on a long road trip. read more

My parents love this place. Total frequent fliers. Joined them for lunch today. Service started a little slow. And when my wife got her salad, she exclaimed that it didn't seem like a lot of meat. But the guy who brought the food immediately said, "we'll make you another steak". And the waitress was super attentive after that. So it turned out that she got this huge overloaded salad (and they didn't charge us for the extra steak) and I noticed on the way out that the waitress was also tending bar. So of course she had a lot to do and took a few extra minutes to do it. No worries. The food was really good, as it always is. I love their healthy salad and veggie options. I love the seasoning they put on the grilled chicken. The sandwiches and salads are huge. And I love the peanuts and the rolls. All up, it was a great experience. My first time experiencing this steakhouse. It is one of my Mom's favorites. My sister and I came here for Mother's day. I have never seen a restaurant operate like they did. We walked in and were told it would be a 10 min wait. I was surprised because of it being Mother's day. Despite all the empty tables around, there were a quite few people waiting to be seated. About 30 min had gone by and no one had been seated. People started asking when they would be seated and we kept getting told "the kitchen is backed up they need to catch up before seating you". The manager comes out after about 40 min of waiting and tells us the same thing and to give him 10 minutes. I have never seen restaurants not seating people if they have open tables. People could have at least been ordering drinks at a table while waiting and filling up on rolls. Just bad management in my opinion. 10 min goes on 20 and they start seating people. Our waitress was nice and helpful. Our food came out fairly quickly despite the amount of large parties there were. The rolls were amazing, as was the honey. The steak was almost cooked perfectly minus when I got the end of it it was almost Raw and couldn't finish those few bites. The potato was good and piping hot. The sweet tea was perfect. It could have been a great experience if management would have prepared for and handled the Mother's day rush a little different. read more

He then instructed the server to manually write in a "tip" amount, stating that she would automatically add what the gratuity would be after she swiped my card for the original amount. The Collinsville, IL location is usually busy but we rarely have to wait for a table very long. The restaurant was clean and appeared well staffed. Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer and they were hot and delicious. I ordered the 12 ounce ribeye with a sweet potato and salad. The steak was cooked as I asked (medium) and the sweet potato came with butter and cinnamon and sugar. The salad was fresh and tasted good. The total for 6 adults was about $125, and seems about normal for this type of meal. We will definitely be back! read more

We went to Colton's restaurant To celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary. This was our very first time we went here we were very impressed with the food and surroundings. Staff was very polite and informative. I enjoyed the Salmon with a mashed potatoes. I did ask for the gravy on the side and they put it in the potato. My spouse ordered the New York strip steak, and he thought it was outstanding ! I enjoyed the New York cheesecake with caramel topping and my spouse ordered the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and chocolate fudge topping. Everything was so delicious. This will be our restaurant to go to in the future. I was promised, warm cookies, being our first visit to this restaurant and , I never did receive these. But the food was outstanding. The medium well was well done but if was for my youngest so she didn't complain. As long as there was no blood she was fine to eat it. Went back for the corrected medium steaks, and the manager did his best to make up for it. Great guy. Unfortunately, I got home and the amount of butter that was in my loaded potatoes was disgusting. Couldn't even eat it. My NY Strip had a huge piece of fat lining the side and it was a waste in my opinion. When I say medium steak I mean medium. I know how I like my food. I want it cooked the way it is supposed to be cooked, not cooked based on your assumptions of what I want. Just give me exactly what I ordered! The assumptions that I don't know how to order a steak or that I like mounds of butter has really rubbed me the wrong way. They made an already bad day even worse. Went to pick up recooked food and still didn't get it right. The manager gave me a $25 gift card for my trouble of driving back 20 minutes to the restaurant but I won't be going back. Anyone need a gift card? I'll stick to driving to StL for a decent, properly cooked, steak. I should have went to Carmine's but like I said, it's been a rough day and I didn't want to leave Illinois. After having eaten at Texas Roadhouse approximately 8,927,854 times, eating at this place is like stepping foot into an alternate reality. Came in around 1:30PM on the Sunday preceding Memorial Day and the parking lot was fairly open, there was no wait/restaurant was at about 1/4 capacity. Immediately jumped on some fried pickles and cheese sticks. Both were good (B+). The fried shrimp and Mac & Cheese weren't anything to get excited over (C+). The Caesar salad looked like a complete failure. And the rolls + whipped butter were just okay (B). Weird note: don't drink the water. It tasted extremely off in a chemical sort of way. Dead serious, get something in a can or bottle, because I couldn't make it through more than a couple sips of the water. But the real winner is the smoked sirloin. This thing is worth stopping in for on its own. Cooked medium rare, it was the juiciest, most tender, delectable steak I've had outside of seriously top end cuts at very expensive steakhouses. It's hands down an A+. And honestly the portion size is really nearly a full 2 person meal. So if you decide to stop in, most definitely get the smoked sirloin and share it. My husband and I have eaten at a Colton's in another state. We raved about the meals. Today, I stopped with a friend at this restaurant. I ordered the Colton's smothered chicken and baked sweet potato. What I got a small piece of chicken with a separate layer of "smothers" on top which was dry and difficult to cut with the Colton's steak knife and a baked white potato. My friend unfortunately, ordered the fried catfish. She got curly pieces of fish which had a hard crust of corn meal and a mushy fishy inside. I ate her slaw which was good and we took the buns home. Would I go again? Well not to order fish or chicken. I guess one has to stick with beef in this steakhouse. My bad. read more

I've been here a couple of times when I travel into town and it's usually okay. My experience last night was a bit of a let down. I ordered the GRILLED salmon but it came out more like warm sushi...very undercooked. The mashed potatoes were weird and rubbery...the gravy was blah...I wasnt able to eat my meal. The server was okay...she is the reason they get two stars...but the cook needs to learn how to temp their foods. It took 10 to 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive--nothing fancy: a beer and a gin & soda. We didn't get the salads until after the steaks arrived.
