I like the food at McClaisters Deli- and I have been a loyal patron of the Company for years. However, the country club location in St. Charles is the worst restaurant I have ever been to- the management is substandard and they can't get their act together - Do yourself a favor and drive a few more miles to the Mid-Rivers or Creve Coeur location, I know I will from now on. read more

Ordered to go. Horseradish sandwich was so tiny. The meat didn't even take up half the bread. Basically a small lump of hard bread. So disappointed. They also left out the pickle, not the end of the world, but come on... the chili I got was only half way filling the container. I understand leaving a little room, but half? Just a really solid place for a sandwich. The muffaletta is very good, not the absolute best I've ever had but very very good. I love their mac and cheese, and as has been mentioned in other reviews their sweet tea is great. Their service is always great and everyone is very friendly. When it's really busy it can be a bit of a wait for a refill since the drink stations are behind the counter but there's usually employees walking around making sure drinks are topped off. I don't get here very often but I always like when I do. read more

This place is great. I come here every couple weeks for lunch. The food is delicious and comes out quick. The manager is super friendly and always lending a helping hand. Someone often will even come by and check how the food is. If you like tea the wild-berry tea is amazing! Added Note- Today this lady and her kids were being bothered by bee on the patio. Not the greatest of service as it regards me placing a to go order and them fulfilling a party of 8 before mine and the fact that I ordered BEFORE the large party! Good food. Southwestern salad and broccoli cheddar soup. My lemonade tea was mostly tea and for what you're paying here, to still cut corners to skimp on a customer isn't worth doing! Keeping us coming back should be the primary goal. I should've been offered something for the excessively long wait at a slow dining time of day. All she had to say is that they had pushed my salad far in the back and they didn't see it... whatever that means?? This was our first time visiting this place to kill time for a near by movie however as we entered both cashiers were busy one was taking phone orders and the other person was waiting on another couple anyway we myself and my guy noticed as we stood in line for almost seven minues for our order to be taken that tables weren't cleaned i mean several tables and the floors were dirty as well. Upon finding a fairly clean table our food received especially the potatoes not hot at all and my bacon not done.... this was a waste we are faithful eaters at McAllister in St Peters on Mexico Rd and their food is always hot and delicious I will not eat nor recommend this location due to the non cleanliness and poor temperature of the food..... Had this a few years ago in Creve Cour when visiting the area and came to find one closer to a relative. After waiting 30 minutes to get our food after ordering, 2 of us barely had any meat (zero bacon) on our club sandwiches, (looked nothing like the poster on the wall that boasts large portions) I had a tomato I had asked not to have, the other person got cold potato soup. Even the toast for the club sandwich made me think it sat up there for awhile. Why do you have online ordering AND send an order confirmation - only to have the order not process or be ready at the time stated on the confirmation? Great question! So, the girl reentered the order and I waited over 20 minutes for the food that should have already been ready. But wait it gets better ... the damn order did process and I watched the food die in the window for the entire 20 minutes while no one checked for it or put it in a dang bag! When i did get my food and told the girl it had been sitting in the window the entire time, she just looked at me with glazed over eyes. No apology or offer to get me hot food! I love McAllister's! The food is always freshly made, brought to your table hot, and the tea makes the entire dish. This time, I ordered a spud with cheese and a sandwich with chicken. The restaurant was extremely clean, and even though we arrived right at dinner time, there were only a few customers in the store. Before I left, I ordered a to-go order for my hubby. He ordered the McAllister's club and said that it was delicious! When I placed the order, I was given a 20-minute wait time, though the order was filled in 10 minutes. read more

I had high hopes because I've heard good things about McAlister Deli. The pictures on the menu board also looked delicious. We ordered a French dip with mixed veggies and a Horseradish beef melt with Cole slaw. The French dip was nothing as pictured. You couldn't even see the beef. The mixed veggies was 3 baby carrots and 2 very small broccoli florets. My Horseradish beef melt was average but again light on meat. My Cole slaw was yellowish as if sat around for days. Sorry McAlister but not again. Jason's Deli far better portions and flavor. read more

I have been to this location a number of times and this time I got take out. The Big Nasty and Ultimate Nachos. McAlister's did a nice job in packaging all the components so that they were still warm when I got home and could be assembled together. I've never had a bad meal there and always receive good service. Highly recommend. read more

Muffaletta sandwich was great. It came with one side and I chose the cole slaw, which was a traditional creamy one. Sandwich was hot and the slaw was cold, just as it should be. You walk up to a counter to order and pay and they give you a number to take back to your table. It did take about 10 minutes for the meal to come out but the server was very friendly. He also came around to check on us mid-meal. I would definitely return again if I lived in the area. read more

Went to this McAllister's tonight and I was very disappointed in not just the food but service was horrible. I was so amazed at the location in Glen Carbon IL and the location on Olive st the service was wonderful and the food was even better. BUT I went to St Charles tonight and jo one seemed to want to wait on us and when she did I think we put her out between sighs. I was floored what harmed to the friendly, quick service I had gotten at the other locations. Plus this store seemed quite dirty compared to the other locations I had visited prior. After ordering we sat down and waited for our order, it didn't take too long and I thgt the food will redeem the service. Nope I over thgt the situation. She brought our food but did not get any refills we had to go to counter for that. Well then I looked at our sandwiches and they were not piled with meat as at the other locations. It was very noticeable and the bread was soggy from the barely warm meat. And our Mac n cheese was cold. I would have said something to any employee but no one came around and we couldn't find anyone. The one girl helping us had disappeared. So needless to say we had to go to counter for boxes to take our food home to reheat. I am very shocked I thgt Mcalliaters had a standard to uphold at all stores??? Guess I was wrong. I won't go to St Charles location again. I should have given 1 star but I was able to reheat food at home and eat, so I have 2 stars. read more

Had the McAlister's club sandwich with a side of mac n' cheese. Long line when I got there but went quickly even though they seem short staffed. The people taking orders were also doing take out and food running. Cashier was friendly. The sandwich was good and nicely portioned. Even after my long drive home it kept its freshness. Miserable experience at McAllister's Deli today. It took nearly 40 minutes to get our lunch today and we were some of the lucky ones. It was a complete cluster. Any reputable establishment would have served refunds (or at least a coupon for next time...SOMETHING) with their food after such a miserable experience. The only thing the manager offered was apologies and the ability to cancel your order in exchange for a refund. What's worse is that the restaurant KNEW they were slammed and KNEW that the wait would be insane. But did they warn their customers when they walked in the door? Heck no, they just kept on taking orders that they knew they couldn't fill in any reasonable timeframe. read more

After St. Louis Bread Company decided to give themselves a big raise at our expense we've come to appreciate McAlister's excellent menu items and (still) reasonable prices. I'm a big fan of the New Yorker piled high with corned beef and pastrami and my wife loves the bionic baked potato. read more

The sandwiches are pretty good. In my opinion the sides are lacking and the gravy on the mashed potatoes is waaaay too salty. I have had good and not so good experiences here but I live nearby so it is convenient. My biggest complaint is a safety issue- The 2 parking lot lights in front have been burned out for well over a year and it is dark out there at night. I realize that they lease their retail space and are not responsible for maintaining outdoor lighting but I am pretty sure the property management co. would get this fixed if they were notified. read more

One of our favorites, and recent visit met with very fast service, being early. Noise & music low. Trying their Reuben first time, though, got a gooey mess of "cheese whiz" dripping off...soggy bread, little sauerkraut, but meat was ample and tasty. read more

Mcalister's is a little bit higher In price than most sandwich places, but it's certainly worth a couple extra bucks. After my first post about a lackluster "Big Nasty" the company contacted me and offered a gift certificate to try it again, that there must have been some mistake. I refused the gift certificate because I wanted to let them know I wrote because I was disappointed, not looking for a free lunch. I did return a couple of weeks later (because someone else invited me) and tried the New Yorker. It was exactly what I thought it should have been. Large and stuffed full of tasty meat! So in fairness I am updating my post to say that I do miss the desserts from the past, but everything else is worth the trip. read more

My wife and daughter have been to the one in kcmo, and kept telling me i had to go. Went to the country club plaza one. I ordered the roast beef and horseradish sandwich i was not impressed not much meat and hardly any horseradish sauce. I also got the coleslaw side it was very bland and had no sauce. I was very disappointed with my food. My wife however got the rueben sandwich which had tons of meat and tasted pretty good. Again i was really not impressed with my sandwich for the money i payed.
