Stopped by the McAlister's in Terre Haute while my husband and mom were at the casino, and I'm so glad I did. The restaurant was clean, including the restroom, which I always appreciate. The service was great--Halle checked me out and she was super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. I originally wanted the caramel apple lemonade, but they were out, so I went with a sweet tea instead. I ordered the 1/2 potato soup and 1/2 sandwich combo, and everything came out fresh and tasty. My total was around $18 with tip, which felt fair for a relaxing dine-in experience. I was also able to get some schoolwork done while eating. They have WiFi and my table had an outlet, which made it incredibly convenient. Staff even came by to clear my plate and offer a tea refill--small touches that go a long way. This was a comfortable place to grab a bite, unwind, and get a little work done. I will be sure to keep this in mind next time I'm out this way! read more

Food is always fresh. Order the Choose 2 and get a nice spread of items between salad, soup, sandwiches, wraps, etc. it's generally a very clean restaurant and seating is very comfortable. Music is lively coming thru the ceiling speakers. They are very quick and efficient. Nice servers!! A friend/colleague and her sister joined our table. Luckily, they made me aware a free drink could be had since its teacher appreciation week! 1/2 cut might be a new favorite. It's brewed very well. The wrap that one of them had was very tasty and palatable. The lettuce is frilly and fun. The spud Max was devoured very easily. Mcallister's is always a good choice for fresh hot and cold food. I've eaten here before, and thought I would try it again on my recent trip to Terre Haute. I decided on something a little lighter on this order from McAlister's, and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Savannah Chopped Salad. The chicken was a little stringy but otherwise good. The greens were very fresh and crispy and made for a very nice salad. The fresh fruit side could have been a little fresher in flavor which is why I took off a star, but overall it was a good meal. I like to find places to go back to, and this is one of the ones I try to order from when I am in Terre Haute. Can't wait to go back and try something else off their menu. read more

The sandwich I received was disgusting and inedible. There was so much mustard on it that it soaked all the way through the bread. I mentioned this to the person who picked up my plate, but nothing was done about it. There are plenty of alternatives in the area. I'd skip this one. read more

Food: This time I ordered the Southwest Chicken and Avocado salad. I give this place a solid 3.8 only because they always forget something with the order or get the order incorrect. There's usually 4 people at the cash register so I'm confused why the pick up order is always missing something from a bag of chips to a simple pickle on the side. I do enjoy the food though so I would have made this a 4 if they could at least get the order correct. Ambiance: Clean on the outside and inside. Friendly staff and welcoming environment. Parking: Plenty of shopping center parking at all hours of business operations. I haven't seen the parking lot full enough that made it difficult to find a spot to park. read more

Post-Covid inflation really took a bite from my wallet while delivering the smallest portions I could imagine. Somehow my 'pick two' sandwich and soup combo at $7.99 plus a drink ballooned to over $13. On the receipt tax was, naturally, added but the oversized cola was nearly $4! The 1/2 sandwich appeared to be closer to 1/4 size. The chili portion was acceptable but far from generous. No charge for the pickle spear. Great sandwiches on fluffy bread, delicious iced tea (which I usually get half-sweet and half-regular), huge portions, affordable prices, and friendly service. What's not to love?! I especially love their potato soup, turkey sandwich, and salad with strawberries and candied pecans. You can also choose 2 and get a 1/2 sandwich with soup or salad or just soup and salad. I think their sweet tea is the best around! Sometimes, we order online and pick food up; other times, we eat in one of their roomy booths. Service is always friendly. read more

Like all new restaurants that open in Terre Haute, there is a certain amount of overwhelming fan fare from being the lead story on the local news to non-stop lines for the first few weeks. So with this in mind, the experience for me and my folks at the new McAlister's Deli in Terre Haute was ordered off my cell phone and a to-go order to avoid the crowds and chaos as much as possible. So with this in mind, the McAlister's Deli website and on-line ordering system is super easy to navigate, easy to make changes/additions to menu items and very efficient all from the palm of my hand on my I-Phone. You place your order, pay, you select a time for pick up and BOOM...easy, quick, food to go. When I hustled through the restaurant and saddled up to the left side of the ordering counter in the "To Go" area in anticipation of giving my name and picking up my order, I was greeted by a nice employee who indicated that as long as there were not drinks in the order I placed on-line, I just needed to walk around the counter to the left, find my order in its bag, grab and go. The honor system here is in full swing. As I was only seeking to hustle in, hustle out and avoid the crowds, I can confirm that they are busy. The grey, wood, white, pops of orange, yellow green branding make the restaurant seem inviting and welcoming. You order you food at the counter and then have a seat (no direct table service). And for take out food and having never eaten at a McAlister's before, I would say our experience was better than average for a place that is not quite fast food, but not entirely a table service situation either. The salad was fresh & good sized, the baked potato was hot, a good spud and also a good size for a smaller spud that came with my half sandwich, the French dip was a bit overcooked according to my mom but pretty decent for a take-away $10 sandwich. Again, we changed out cheeses, added veggies and eliminated sauces with great ease on-line when we placed the order. So for a new establishment with all the pressure of the local community bearing down on anticipation of it being a new eatery, I would give them 4 stars. It is chain, but for this town, it would not matter. We had a good experience and would go again and maybe even sit down inside, once the fan fair and excitement is a fews months past. read more

Incredible performance from McAlister's Deli Terre Haute! Stopped in with a large group and this place went above and beyond. Very clean and modern facilities. Staff was super friendly and got our food out to us fast. I got the king club with fruit and the sandwich was immaculate. Full of flavor and filled with meat. The fruit cup was slightly lacking especially for the up charge but I do appreciate the freshness. I would definitely revisit this location but would expect a better fruit cup. This place reminds me of Mets pitcher Matt Harvey. Looks great performed well, but not holding out on the consistency of it over long term. Overall enjoyed my time. read more

We love grabbing a quick lunch at this McAlisters and sitting on their patio. I got the choose 2 with the pecan berry salad and the smoky pepper jack Turkey sandwich. The salad is a huge portion for only being half & the dressing is my favorite! Service was a little slow, but it was a busy lunch rush. read more

Just skip it! Stopped by today for a veggie baked potato for lunch. Asked for no onions and please substitute cheddar Jack for the processed cheese dip on the menu. Total with 10% AARP discount was almost $10. Of course I questioned the total. The woman who rang me up was the manager, so I guess price gouging is allowed and encouraged. I walked out. Didn't need a $10 baked potato today. They're usually cold and old anyway. Almost always send them back to the kitchen for a fresh one. Keep an eye on the overcharging and upcharging here and check your receipt. read more

Why does Terre Haute attract the worst stores of any franchise? This McAlister's is consistently mediocre. The food is overpriced and underwhelming. They have soup on the menu but don't have any of it. Nothing irritates me more than being told at a restaurant that they don't have items on their menu. So I end up with the world's worst chili. We both had to "settle" on soup we didn't even want for nearly $27. Two thumbs down. read more

Today I took the family to try the new McAlisters Deli that opened recently in Terre Haute. I was impressed with the décor. It had a modern look and feel to it. They were not to busy when we got there but that soon changed. I got a club sandwich and thought it was pretty good but not great. (C+) I also tried their potato soup and had the same results. (C+) I also had a side of mac and cheese and it was good, (B-) My wife and daughter both had a grilled chicken sandwich and they said it was ok. (C) We all thought the sweet tea was good as well. (B) The service was very good. I thought the prices were high for the amount of food you get and the quality of the food. Over all our experience was not bad but I don't think we will eat here that often. read more

I paid over $15 for a sandwich and drink, and the sandwich was absolutely pathetic. Basically 2 tablespoons of Chicken in Frank's Red Sauce with a single tomato and a half of slice of bacon on some Chiabatta bread. A subwasy sandwich would have tasted much better and cost less too. New national chain opening this weekend in Terre Haute. Their tea is fantastic. Love the table service. We were invited to their preview training event so the meal was free. I got the Choose 2: Caesar chicken salad and the Ruben sandwich. Partner got the McAlister's Club sandwich with Tomato/cucumber salad. Both were delivered to our table after a few minutes. Both played got thumbs up from us and we finished it all. Servers came by to refill our teas several times. Meal also came with two very large cookies. We'll try those later as we were comfortably filled with our lunch selections. Love their vast and diverse menu. We can't wait to go back and try several other items that all sounded good. read more

I also don't subscribe to people's one-off experiences as places. I've been here a few times and only had a strange experience once upon opening week when the staff wasn't certain of procedures. Awesome atmosphere, food and employees. They always have a nice word and smile for customers. While I was there another customer had a slight order mix up and the assistant manager on duty quickly came up and handled the situation professionally and apologized. I've been waiting for years to get a McAlister's in Terre Haute after frequenting the Avon and Indy Michigan Road locations numerous times. This one is good, but could be better, by comparison. I know it's a standard tea recipe, but honestly not as good as Indianapolis area tea (maybe the water???). And the new Terre Haute one offers no decaf tea. What?! No green tea? Plus their prices have gone up, but I think that's McAlister's across the board. All in all, glad it's here, but cannot give it 5 stars just yet. read more
