I have been here a few times for wings and cocktails. The bar staff is very prompt. I went with my daughter on Friday night. We got a table in the bar area and the service was not great. It took a while for the waitress to come ask for our drink order. When she arrived we had already reviewed the menu and knew what we wanted. We ordered and then waited a long time for our drinks. We ordered the chips which were good. We then ordered our main food, I got a salad and my daughter for the lamb burger. The food was ok, I could not eat much of my salad. It took 40 minutes for the food to arrive. The waitress did not bring the food, nor did she come back to see if we needed drinks or wanted anything. When she came back to bring the check I told her I wanted to place a to go order but did not want to wait another 40 minutes. She said no problem and brought fish and chips in 5 minutes with a free dessert to go. I was disappointed with the experience. read more

Authentically Irish and so good!!!!! If you're thinking this is just a typical Irish pub with like wings and fried food and stuff you're kinda wrong. It's very Irish and if you're picky you might have trouble finding something you like. I got the fish and chips and it was flakey and filling! The atmosphere was great, and the waitress Debbie was awesome and so helpful to vacationers in the area!!!! She said the burgers were good and the special was a full turkey dinner w all the fixings. I was visiting the area and locals were raving about the chicken pot pie - which I tried. Our waitress Kathie was awesome. She brought it out and it needed some presentation and preparation right in front of you. Great textured crust and whole chicken pieces, with mashed potatoes and carrots and peas. I do believe it was the best pot pie I've ever had. read more

We had talked about having dinner here for quite some time. We wish we had eaten here a long time ago. I had the $16 fish and chips...ample pieces of properly fried fish along with a nice amount of fat curly fries. My wife had the fish special ($28) that evening which was swordfish. She said it was prepared well and was good. It was sitting in a bit too much butter but that wasn't a meal-breaker. I also ordered a Scotch egg just for the heck of it......it was not greasy and was very good. Service was attentive albeit a bit rushed. As others mentioned...the bar is well lit and there seems to be a large regular crowd. read more

McCarthy's in Tequesta is the next best thing to being in Ireland. The wait staff and Bartenders are friendly and engaging. But the real story is about the food. I strongly recommend appetizers of Scotch Egg, A hard cooked egg wrapped in sausage, then breaded and deep fried, Dublin Shrimp, or Corned Beef Sliders, although these are like a full meal. Watch what is delivered to other patrons. When you see the Mile High Chicken Pot Pie, BINGO! It's their most popular entrée, and rightly so. The tender white meat in the pie and the creamy white sauce is only surpassed by the mile high puff pastry topping. The Shepherds Pie is huge, well seasoned and yummy. The French Dip is tender and delicious. The Bangers and Mash are spot on. Did I say how much I love this place? Dessert? Who has room? We usually take home half our generous portions, for lunch the next day. This is a family owned Irish Pub, previously in a different location, reincarnated by the next generation. Enjoy! Had high hopes and it'started off well with first bartender but sadly second one dropped the ball. Irish Pubs, all you need is good service and decent food and drink. They miss on service.Guinness was good for the area and food was decent. Forgot part of my order, stuff happens, but they were not at all apologetic and looked flustered / annoyed about me asking for it. Brought it out and it was pure white bacon so either all fat or over cooked. A good kitchen or server would have caught that. Then they accidentally charged me for someone else's bill, rather than be upfront and say sorry they played it off like it was a glitch, just said we had to adjust your bill great discount for you and sorry, keep this receipt for the bank. I thought it was to adjust for the nasty bacon I sent back until I saw the accident wasn't for a discount. They charged double me 70 dollar tab for someone else. A forty dollar meal tied up 130 dollars. Not apologetic, sneaky with attitude. Grew up and worked in Irish bars in Boston and Ireland, disappointed with the service place. Maybe an off night. Maybe a bad employee. Owner shoulda stepped in since he had to fix the bill. read more

This place was great! I went with my family on a Monday night. I felt like I was in NY on St Patrick's day! They play live music every Monday the food was amazing and the wait staff was pleasant and accommodating! I had the filet mignon but my parents had the chicken pot pie and loved it!! First time visiting McCarthy's and it was a big hit! Great ambience, large booths, crowd not overly loud and soft music playing in the background-all a wonderful setting for the food. Our server, Mary Beth, could not have been more pleasant and efficient. We ordered chicken pot pie, shepherd's pie and the special, beef stroganoff. With the special, we had a choice of leek potato or tomato soup. We chose the tomato bacon soup and it was quite different than expected. It had chunks of tomatoes and was fresh tasting. The chicken pot pie had a wonderful presentation with puff pastry. The chicken was deliciously moist, and our sides of mashed potatoes and the grilled vegetables were yummy! Shepherd's pie also was a beautiful presentation and plentiful. The beef stroganoff over noodles was tender and also a large portion. Our party of four had dinner at McCarthy's. It's an Irish style pub, that is quite attractive, especially in the bar area. The menu is fairly diverse, and they feature some specials. Two of us had the Yellowtail Snapper special, another had the Turkey special. My wife is a vegetarian and had to piece together a salad and a couple of sides to make a meal. Id say the food was okay, but not great. Our bill totaled $130, pre tip, and included four glasses of wine, no appetizers, coffee nor desserts. On balance we enjoyed our experience. read more

Long-time local eatery in Tequesta, we are still fans. Dinner last night was delicious and service was friendly and efficient. My husband LOVES the chicken pot pie on fresh home-baked pastry "shell", and I am crazy about the grilled avocado and paired it with the lamb chop lollipops. The sauce with the lamb is GREAT. But don't miss the caesar salad, or the house salad with the house tomato dressing. Full bar and a serviceable wine and beer list. Their Manhatten (with whiskey) straight up was perfectly prepared and I'm picky... Too full for desert, but, bread pudding, key lime pie, and other great choices available. Decor is very Irish pub-like with original painted wall murals of scenes from "the old Sod" - in the Publix shopping center, but, definitely can be counted on for good food, good drinks and good service. read more

Was told when stopping for drinks on Friday night by the bartender that every Saturday night was Prime Rib night. When we return Saturday night we were told they did not have Prime Rib. The Bartender told us she did not know why there was no Prime Rib because Saturday night is suppose to be Prime Rib night. We were offered a special of Chicken Piccata over Angel Hair, Salad and Dessert. The Chicken was hard as a rock, salad small with some lettuce and a few tomatoes, dessert we could determine what is was, but we knew it had a burnt curst. Also the staff was more concerned about closing instead of taking care of its patrons.
