Some time ago, after being a regular customer at the Watch and Clock Center, I brought in my wife´s 18K gold bracelet there to have a link soldered -- BUT THE BRACELET CAME OUT AN INCH SHORTER THAN IT WAS WHEN I TOOK IT IN. When I tried to explain the problem, offering to pay for a couple of extra links to restore the bracelet, their Lisa -- who wasted the money her parents must have spent for charm school -- first refused any assistance, then said she could not find any links that would work -- and finally I WAS BANNED FROM THE STORE FOR EVEN ASSERTING THAT THE BRACELET WAS SHORTER COMING OUT THAN GOING IN TO THE STORE! Very rude owner. Asked the saleswoman if I could have a watch fixed as it was running slow. She asked the owner who loudly and rudely responded with a "he can wait like everyone else".... A price quote or even a simple "you can leave it with us" would have been more helpful. I walked out even after the saleswoman clearly noticed my concern and tried to save the situation. I would appreciate it if my review would stop getting deleted. I understand times are tough right now, but this was my experience here and it deserves to be shared. read more

This review is based solely on clock repair. I have zero experience with the sales or jewelry side of the business, which might be outstanding. TLDR: If you're looking for someone to store your clock and not bother you with any kind of contact whatsoever, this is your place. My wife took a clock in for repair in October 2018. Original estimate was 3 weeks time and around $50 for service. After being told multiple times she'd be contacted, she never was. We called. We visited. After $300 and 5 months, we got the clock back. It was a bad repair. In their defense, it's an old clock with some parts that aren't made any longer. But, the clocked didn't work or sound like it did when we took it in, they charged a ton, it took forever, the communication was terrible, and the repair stopped working 1 month after. In April, my wife took the clock back in. It's still there and unless we call them, we don't hear from them. When we DO call them, the response is always "We haven't heard from the repair guy. I'll call him and then call you back." The call back never happens. Normally, we'd write it off and let the clock go. But it has a lot familial sentimental value. So we're stuck. I leave Yelp reviews on occasion. Most of which are positive because I think it helps when you're looking for a service. I usually don't bother with a negative review (this is the 1st ever 1 star). But the service here was/is outstandingly bad. Again, based purely on the repair side. I assume they must do something well to stay in business. I personally just haven't encountered it. read more

Don't bother going here. The woman in her early fifties is very unpleasant. I forgot that she was like that the last time we went and we vowed never to go back. She's just uptight, unpleasant and acts bothered that you are in there. No one needs to be treated like that. Don't even ask her a question- she'll be nasty and sigh and act very bothered. They are shady. The lady tried to upsell us, thinking we didn't know anything about watches. She first tried to charge $130 claiming our watch was broken, when we knew it only needed a replacement battery. The lady then proceeded to tell us to buy a new watch (even though everything in the store is tasteless). To confirm that she was a shady watch dealer, we went over to McCarty jewelers across the street, who quickly replaced the battery for $15-$20. Oh, and they're actually nice at McCarty - unlike the bitter old hags at this watch store. read more

BEWARE !!! I took a Rolex I have owned for over twenty years into this business to be serviced and repaired. The staff informed me that they worked on this brand of watch all the time and cleaning and repairing any issues with it would be no problem. I was promised the watch in two weeks. I did not receive it for six weeks. But, this is not the issue. Approximately one month after I paid $412.43 and picked up the watch, it stopped running through the night. I took the watch back to the shop. They worked on it again and it was returned to me after a couple of weeks. Approximately one month after this, the watch AGAIN stopped running through the night. Thus, I returned it to the shop for the third time. After a couple of weeks had passed and they had not called me, I called them to find out the status of the repair. I was told that the son of the owner had been wearing my watch in order to test it. WHAT !!! As we all understand, the wearing of a client's watch, for testing or otherwise, is improper protocol it all business circles. I was, however, informed during the phone call that my watch was running fine. Thus, I picked it up for the third time. Again, approximately one month after the watch was returned to me it stopped running through the night. This makes three times that this shop claimed to repair the watch but did not. I called them up to tell them of the problem. Instead of offering me a refund or a store credit like an honorable business would have done, they told me that the watch not working properly must be my fault. ARE YOU KIDDING ME !!! What type of business says such a thing to one of their clients when it was their poor workmanship that made me contact them four times about their faulty watch repair? With this, I had to take the watch to be re-serviced at another place and the watch has been running fine ever since. That's the story. Be careful !!! read more

I called the owner and she was amazing. She took care of my watch immediately and was able to repair it to my satisfaction. Be careful what you trade in, they always take the upper hand with you. You rarely feel satisfied when you do a trade in, they rarely budge on their retail when you trade in. They do some of their research on ebay, that's what they told me about the value of the timepiece. Who can't use ebay? Just be careful, do your research before you step in, know what you want too. They carry tons of cheap quality watches common to the "area" is what they told me. If you really want a fair price and tons of quality, go to Tourneau or across the street to McCartys jewelers. This place could not repair my husband's watch after numerous tries, it continued to run slow so he had to take it elsewhere and Mark agreed to reimburse him for part of the cost of the original repairs. This has now been going on for months, with Mark stating the credit was posted to my husband's credit card three months ago. Obviously if that was the case, he would be able to see the credit, sounds like Mark is not telling the truth. I would suggest people with watch issues take their business elsewhere. read more

My Initial inspiration for visiting was because Sunday was my one and only day to do errands. Yeah, seriously I don't get what all this grousing is about. All of my experiences there have been absolutely lovely. The (family i think) all are great, there's a nice young girl who we mostly deal with. I've taken 5+ watches here over the years - weirdly, all my watches recently had a fail party, like 3 at once! I got estimates on everything and I got some of them repaired. These guys are the absolute worst in follow up and customer service. I brought my clock in on 6/9/17, and today is 10/05/17 - and they have no idea where my clock is, or the status of its repair. Mind you - I call every week for an update, and they act like they've never heard of me. I have to give them my name and phone number each time, even though they wrote it down when they gave me my ticket number, and every time I call. They say "we will call the clock repair guy and see what's going on, and call you back." They never call me back. I've asked several times if I can come in and pick up my clock, but... alas...they don't have it - the clock repair dude does! I'm beyond livid. Today I called again, spoke to Mark - again - and he said he'll "find out what's going on" - again. And that he'll call me back. I have literally heard this dozens of times over the course of the last 5 months it's been in there. I'm about ready to take them to small claims court to retrieve the value of my property. Had the same experience as others before me. Brought in two watches to be cleaned. Spent $125 Both watches damaged. One beyond repair. the other needed a new bezel. I will give them credit for making a several month long attempt to salvage the watch they damaged. However it will never be the same. it now has a completely different face and numbers falling off. DO NOT DO BUSINESS here!!! I gave them one star because I can't give them minus five. The owner is an ill mannered, belligerent arrogant man whose pompous attitude is anything but courteous or customer friendly. I brought a ring in a week before Thanksgiving to change a stone on a new ring. I explained it was a Christmas gift. It was to be done in a week. Two weeks later I called and they hadn't started it. But promised in a week. It wasn't. I spoke with the owner as now I was concerned about my daughters gift with Christmas so near. He was appalling. He complained about his busy season. He complained about the stone. He complained about his jeweler. He told me he wasn't making any money on me since they had trouble with the stone. He was rude to me and let me know he didn't give a fig about my ring or my deadline. Because now it was too late to go elsewhere. I pressed him to do the right thing. He reluctantly and defiantly promised he'd have it done by December 23rd. He lied. He didn't. He just said "too bad and come pick up your ring". They made a commitment to me, the customer. If they weren't competent enough to do the work, they should have said so in the first place. They made me nervous for weeks and fouled my Christmas. Shabby shabby business. Take my advice. First time here to replace a battery ( CR 2016 Cell) for my watch. It was quick. I was there maybe all of 15 minutes. The repair guy was finishing up another battery replacement ahead of me and came out from behind his work station to ask me what I needed since the sales woman was occupied with another customer. Prices included taxes. My replacement was $14. He even set the both the analog and digital time and date as well. The prices vary depending on type. Hmmmm battery on the watch just went out....where to go....? Within walking distance from mi casa and for $8.50 for a new battery? SOLD! I ran here before going to the gym and it was about to close. I thought I would have to drop off my watch and they would have it overnight - not a problem. I can live without my watch for 24 hours. But gasp! They exceeded my expectations and were going to have my watch ready within 5 minutes! Holy Wow! Well, I didn't have my debit card with me as I was just going to the gym so they gave me a slip to bring back the next day. Easy as pie! read more

The people over at Watch and clock center care very litte about customer service. Mark claims that they aim to please customers, but from my visits to this place it's not true. There's usually 2-3 people by the counter hovering, which would be nice if they did anything. None of them know much about watches and all look to be about 16, and every question requires them to ask mark for an answer, who doesn't seem to be around much. I came in to sell a gold watch I've had laying around, and was told they'd give me $50 for it by the big guy. I said I'd think about it and come back, and then decided $50 sounded good and I should sell it. This time, the people were actually pretty nice, although the people behind the 'podium' (?) still had to get the back room guy to help me. I came back to sell my watch and waited for what seemed like awhile just to be acknowledged because a customer was being helped, and the other workers were busy chatting about their own lives. I told the guy I was told I could sell them my watch for $50 and I wanted to, and he said I needed to see the 'big guy' who does the estimates, and that he wasn't there (I'm assuming Mark?). He said to come back in an hour. I said thanks, and drove home. I came back an hour and a half later and he said he still wasn't back and that he went to the courthouse (??). Anyways, I decided I'll take my watch somewhere else to sell back, as it's not even worth it to deal with these kids. And by the way, the owner of this place keeps commenting on negative reviews accusing the customer of being wrong. ONE, you never accuse a customer of being wrong, and TWO, maybe (since there are so many of us who are dissatisfied) you should hire some kids who don't wear backpacks and tshirts at work, and teach them to talk to customers. I want to thank previous reviewers for warning us about John L. My wife's Omega is losing time and I would have brought it here, had I not read the reviews and JLs shocking response to them. He went over the line in my opinion when he responded to a customer who felt ignored by saying the customer smelt bad. He says that he hates Yelp and those of us who use it he refers to as "ants" I'm a watch enthusiast and once visited this store. The quality of the repair itself was fine, but the customer service left a lot to be desired. I took a watch in to get a simple repair recently. I was quoted a 2 day repair time since the job was super easy and they said they'd contact me once ready. Cut to 2 weeks later and I still hadn't heard anything from the shop. Over this time, I'd called quite a few times to check on the repair status and each time they'd (pretty rudely) tell me they were too busy to talk to me on the phone, take my information, and then conveniently never call me back. I didn't mind the work taking a bit longer than expected, but the attitude I received when trying to get updates on my item will certainly keep me from coming back again. read more

Wow, couldn't have been any easier then that! My grandfather recently passed away and he had a watch that he never wore that he received as a retirement present from being a professor at The Pennsylvania State University. So the watch was given to him in 1998 and is now mine... Needless to say, the strap was a bit our of style (especially for a 25 year old) and the battery has probably been dead for about 10 years. I walked in and was greeted by John... He looked at the watch and said, "$9.75 for a new battery and I'll fix it while you wait." It's a bit expensive, but hell I can't fix it, so he did his work. In the mean time we looked at other watch straps, hoping that he might have something that would bring this watch up to date a little. He pulled out about 10 different bands that we looked at together, and we settled on a nice flat brown leather strap... He switched the clasp to match the gold watch, installed it, and it looks brand new! He also sells rings at cheap prices by the way... Anyway, $30 and 8 minutes later, I have a brand new looking watch that every time I look at it, I will remember my grandfather... Thanks a lot John! P.S. It's 4 stars because of the price... $10 is again a bit steep for a quick battery swap, but I would give it 4.5 stars if I could for sure! P.S.S. ATM/Debit charges have to be over $20 to run... This place really overcharges for watch batteries. I own dozens of watches and on average they charged about $25 each! I could understand this for a $5000 Rolex where people expect to pay over $100 for a batterie, but for a cheap watch that only cost me maybe $150, it's really a rip off. I would like to say at least I got a fresh batterie that will last a year or two but even that was not true. All of my watch batteries went dead within 6 months...none of them made it even a year. read more

Wow-great customer service! Located on 2nd Street in Belmont Shores. Recently purchased a high end vintage watch, shopped around and they were able to give me the best pricing on servicing. The baby will be good to go for the next 7 years. I first stopped by, and spoke to John who was very knowledgeable on the line of watches. He schooled me on what to look for, and suggested-not pushed servicing. Left the watch for 3 weeks, consisted of fine tuning Swiss mechanism. I was lucky that it was in fine condition, and didn't require it to be sent to the factory. Great follow up by staff, and the watch was ready when stated. I believe the owner was there when I picked up the watch- he gave me a booklet for the watch, and answered all the questions I had. Overall-great customer service and I left happy. read more

*Update 01-24-2013 @1pm: Went to visit the store again, was quite a ride from Noho. The owner and lovely women at the counter were super nice! Even greeted me by name. I think they were sisters... Grabbed a Citizen Eco Drive that I'd been looking for, for a while. A gentleman was trying to sell a gold necklace, and Mark was very fair with his offer and counter offers. None of that PAWN STARS type low balling here. Watching the owner be so knowledgeable about coins, rare metals, gold, and watches is sometimes dumbfounding for me, he is extremely well rounded in his trade. I witnessed this yet again multiple times during my simple transaction. I forgot how lovely the area is too, after I left- I grabbed a quesdadilla across the street. They even had whole wheat tortillas. Definitely check these guys out if you are in the neighborhood, REALLY liked the Ingersoll Disney line they have featured in the window, never saw the pieces they had before on a lot of what they carry. *Old Review Starts now:* My previous post was deleted. I'm very unhappy about this, as it was all honest as I'm a legit customer of this business. And I'm pretty much watch obsessed. The owner of the store is personable, carries a great unique selection that is displayed well and not overpriced. They have discount watches in the corner to the right of the register near the coins (he's a classic coin dealer and collector as well) that I really loved from people who left repairs there for extensively long periods. They carried a lot of great brands like G Shock, Ingersoll, Citizen, Ingersoll Disney, Phosphor and a lot of cool higher end brands too. You know when you have a really small but really annoying problem? I had a car key with a lost screw and had NO IDEA where to go - the car dealership was going to charge me $120 for a new plastic key cover. No thanks! So i happened to walk by this store and in 10 minutes i had a functioning car key for under $10. Both employees were really helpful and went out of their way, even though they didn't have to. If you come here with a tiny mechanical problem (watch, automatic car key) odds are good you will find a solution. crafty! read more

We were strolling along and remembered we had my late nana's watch that my wife was going to wear but it was a bit loose and a dead battery. We stopped in and the lady was very helpful. We got a discount because we got a battery and a sizing. Few bucks off. They performed both while we waited and even added a link after taking it off to get the right fit for my wife. read more

They give you one year warranty and it only cost me about $5! ;) One down-side I will mention is: There's no parking structure so you need to park on the street and I went on a Monday afternoon, I still had to walk 3 blocks to the store. read more

A screw fell out of my Cartier watch clasp, and when I called Cartier in South Coast Plaza to get a price quote on replacing it, they refused to provide a ballpark estimate and told me I had to bring it in for them to look at. Honestly - the damn screw fell out and I need you to put in a new one. Just give me a price range. But no, that's not how they operate. So I called a few local places and found the Watch & Clock Center on 2nd St. I spoke with Lisa, who very nice and very helpful. I took the watch over there and left it with them so they could get a genuine Cartier screw. A few days and $35 later, I was a happy camper. They also have a pretty good selection of antique watches. I saw the reviews, ratings and comments were mixed for this business. But I'm biking distance to this place, and my boyfriend got me this beautiful watch that needed resizing. So at the very least, I called before walking in to get my watch sized. I described my watch and that it was too big. I asked for a price quote and how soon the task would be completed. The gal on the phone quoted me $10 and said they were caught up on work, so if I walked in note it would take no more than 20 minutes. My boyfriend and I biked over. A young gal took my watch, quoted me 10 minutes and asked if I was going to stay and wait, or if I was going to come back. I answered that I would come back. Boyfriend and I leave, come back in 10 minutes and they're done. I tried on my watch, but oops, it's still to big. A man suggested another link off, a woman rung me up as a waited. I happily paid the $10 and was on my merry way within a few minutes. No rudeness like I read in past reviews. No scams or tricks. read more

Brought my Seiko self-winding diver's watch to be resurrected after it stopped working. It had always gained about five minutes every week and the place I bought it from said that was as good as one can expect from self-winding watches. After W&CC repaired it it keeps PERFECT time. It's become the clock I use to check my other clocks. They're not cheap but they do it right. I just brought in an Omega Seamaster and a Movado for them to work on.
