awesome. fixed a problem the day after i called, amd they woulda come out the very day i called but i wasnt available. my baseboard heating would not shut off and the house was sweltering. we have 2 small kids who sleep upstairs and its usually very uncomfy in their rooms. we had to run the AC just to counteract the heat. we got a quote from another company last year n he said it would be thousands to fix. but today we only paid $160 and the house is super comfortable. additionally, i emailed 4 companies and this is the one that called first. only one other called to say they dont do baseboard heating. thank you for fixing our heating problem! i highly recommend this company read more

The technician came to my property and looked at my boiler, brushed off two burner rods, told me he wouldn't even try to repair it, never took the the time to give me a professional estimate on the cost to replace it because all he wanted was his $90 service call fee. I feel totally ripped off!!! If he felt like my boiler was so terrible then he should have not even touched it and just advised me to get a new one yet he didn't even give me an estimate on the cost to replace it because all he wanted was that $90. Replacement estimates are free and he had no intention of giving me a free estimate! What a joke... The technician took more time writing up the paperwork than he did inspecting my boiler. read more

I explained to her my situation and that I had a 5 year old and I was hoping someone could come out same day as the temps were getting colder. She said she would call me back. Adam from McCarver Mechanical Heating & Cooling came to do a tune up on my old style radiator heating system in a duplex I own in Detroit. The tune up was $175 (different than the standard heater) and he found some work that needed to be done to allow the heat into one of the rooms that wasn't getting heat - valve repair ($250). He did also learn on a subsequent visit that the duplex has two boilers and the piping was stupidly put in has some pipes from the lower unit going to the upper unit and visa versa. In other words, it is controlled downstairs by the lower level tenant instead of the upstairs tenant. He spent some time on a third visit (no charge) figuring this out and will be getting me a quote in possibly redoing the piping system. It isn't broken, it just isn't put together right. I may or may not pursue that but I appreciate him taking the time to understand the system and explain it to me. read more

Thank you Adam and yes you are awesome. He explain every test and thoroughly checked my Bryant Plus 95s Evolution furnace that's 9 years old. I would set the thermostat for 72 degrees and when the temperature outside was 32 degrees or below it would never get to 70 degrees and would fall as low as 64 degrees inside in spite of the set temperature. This was the second year I was having this problem. After running all the test and finding my furnace in great mechanical condition he checked and found that 3 of my supplies in the duck work were shut and one return was blocked by furniture. He opened the three supplies on the duck work and explain to me that when they are parallel to the duck work it's open. By the time we went upstairs and checked the thermostat it was at 72 degrees my set temperature and is still running very well even though I have not move the furniture yet. I originally called McCarver to fix an issue with our AC/ furnace. Right from the start, Chris let me know the approximate age of the furnace, what the issue is, how much it would cost to replace the motor and how much longer my furnace can last with the replacement motor. He was very upfront and not pushy about "furnace replacement". My wife and I eventually decided to replace the AC and furnace, it clearly was on it's last legs. We went through all our options, no pushy up-selling whatsoever. We decided on what would work best for our house and set a date for install. The installers (Dave, Joe, Joey & Eddie) showed up on time and we're super friendly. Very considerate of my time, house and animals. Dishonest. 2nd time too, so I am now inclined to warn others. Said after years of use, my furnace was dangerous. Told me his diagnostics told him so, but would not share results. Had a friend come over to start it and everything was fine. They make money charging ladies $85-$135 for a service call (as per my experience) Looking back, should have asked them to show me the instrument that they concluded my furnace was no good from- yet ever since it works fine now.. my furnace recently went out and after doing research on line I came across Mccarver mechanical heating and cooling they came out pretty quick on a Tuesday morning. After a half hour or so the technician Brett suggested that I had a reverse polarity issue and that was the cause of my problem since my furnace was running which we could hear but my blowers weren't kicking on. when it was time to leave he said I owed $179 now Im fully aware that His time should be paid for. But I'm still left with a cold home and a newborn baby. I honestly feel the charge should be much less than this especially due to the fact nothing was fixed. I'm still in the same condition as before he arrived. I also understand from what he said. That this is an electrician's area of work. Since the reverse polarity issue is something a electrician would have to fix. Ok. Got it. But I feel over charged and unsatisfied. Our heat broke down and our sucky home insurance company had kept us angling all day long trying to find someone to fix it - they couldn't, and finally at 9 pm suggested we find someone ourselves. My air conditioner stopped working and I had family coming over for the next two days so off to Yelp I went. This company had really great reviews so I called and left a message on Friday night (they were closed) telling them I needed help. I called back the next morning when they opened at 8 am to make sure I had left the proper information and to try and firm up when someone would come out. The very polite person that answered said next Thursday was the earliest they could service my air conditioner. They could be the best company in the world but late next week to come out to my house doesn't work for me. Later that day, they called back and said another customer had cancelled their appointment and they could come immediately to my house and work on my broken air conditioner. Sul was the technician that came to my house. Within a very short amount of time, it became clear he was more than I could have hoped for. If I was ever in a position to make an HVAC training film, I would insist that Sul be the person to model the technician's behaviour after. He was bright, articulate and more than happy to explain each step; why it was broke, what he was doing to fix it and what I could do in the future to prevent it from happening again. Midwinter furnace dysfunction. My furnace is a dinosaur and made before I was even a twinkle in my parents' eyes. Someone came out later that evening and recommended replacing the inducer. They were able to get the part in the next morning. Had technician Adam come out who encountered numerous problems troubleshooting my ancient furnace but at the end he was able to figure it out. I'm not sure how they set their priorities, but they certainly weren't very considerate of my tenant's or mine. I called on Tuesday and spoke with Christine. I asked for an appointment that day because an old boiler had failed and I had a tenant (in a duplex) without heat. I was told their afternoon appointments were full and they couldn't support an evening appointment. We made an early Thursday apointment. On Wednesday Christine called and said they had too many "emergency" loss of heat calls and wouldn't be able to keep my 7:30am Thursday appointment. When I reminded her that my case was also loss of heat - she said she would speak with the owner. She called back and said they would put a different tech on the job, but he couldn't get there until 8:00am. I agreed, but noted I had to leave no later than 8:45 for work. I arrived at the apartment well before 8:00a.m. No one ever showed up and I gave up on them and chose to go with another contractor. At 8:44 Christine called and apologized that the technician had car trouble and couldn't keep the appointment. I have a rental property that needed a service call on the furnace. Originally the service call was slated for the next day. Then she called the renter (with my approval of course) and was able to come out that very same day. The transaction was smooth. I felt the service was honest and priced fairly. I woke up one morning to a very cold house; and found out my pilot light on my old furnace had gone out. Considering that we were scheduled to have below zero temperatures that week, I knew I would need to have a furnace repairman come out. I had heard good reviews for McCarver, and gave them a call. They were able to come out the same day, through a snow storm, and look at my furnace. Chris didn't mind me standing behind him, chatting with him about what had gone wrong on my furnace. He troubleshot my furnace, starting with the more simple, and cheaper repairs, then moving up. It ended up being the gas valve that had gone bad on my furnace, and Chris was very helpful, and explained everything. While some people complain about the price, I can rest easy knowing that the job was done correctly, the first time; to me that's worth it. read more

We had used a different heating company for years, but after they gave us the run around (would not return phone calls) and charged us over $130 for a simple service call (no parts) that did not solve the problem, I started to shop around and found McCarver had good reviews on yelp. I called them, explained our intermittent furnace problem, and they came out the same day. The tech determined we had a faulty gas valve (said he couldn't believe the other company hadn't found the problem), and another tech came back the next morning to install the new part. They were very reasonably priced (compared to the other company), and they were very efficient and competent at resolving the problem. I will use them again. read more

I began calling other company's and hunkered down for a cold night. first thing this morning I made contact with McCarver and within 30 minutes a tech was at my door. I selected McCarver Heating Cooling based on their positive online reviews. I called late on a Friday to set a service appointment to address an issue with my central air. I was able to get an appointment for Monday. Adam Olson, the sevice technician was outstanding. He called 30mins before arrival, clearly explained everything and had my A/C back up and running in an hour. The price was very reasonable for the service performed.
