I had a special needs dog that I knew would take a special doctor since we were frequent flyers. My in-laws raves about this clinic, and since they were in a similar situation, I followed their recommendation. When my little guy reached the end of his life, they did everything they could and showed me so much kindness. After he passed, I received the sweetest letter from Dr. Sallee. He said he wished he could've done more, but that my pup was so lucky to have had me as his mom. That was almost 3 years ago and that has stuck with me ever since. I usually see Dr. Sallee or Dr. McCord, but I never worry if I have to see another doctor if I need to be squeezed in. You can tell each staff member and vet enjoys their job and loves the creatures they care for. 11/10 would recommend.

I was at work at the hospital and happened to check the pet cameras that morning and saw what was happening. I live in walking distance to Gainesway Animal Hospital. Once bloat sets in you're on a short time clock to get them into surgery. I RUSHED home and called them..BEGGING them to take us. My vet downtown was too far away. I was told they didn't have an appointment until later in the week. I realize we weren't patients, and accepting us would've messed up their morning appointments... but it was an EMERGENCY. They told us to go to Tates Creek or MedVet. We would've never made it to the ER. The traffic on Tates creek just to get to new circle was standstill at 8am and he was deteriorating fast. Thank GOD Tates Creek took us no question. When they did the surgery they said his stomach was twisted 360 and if it was 15 mins later he wouldn't have made it. I will NEVER bring my animals to Gainesway. I worked for a small animal clinic in CT for 13 years. I know how things work and they could've tried to help save my dog and did not. If I could give less then 0 stars for the lack of compassion, I would. Thank goodness there are places like Tates Creek that open their hearts to people outside their registered patients and help save lives.

This was an extremely painful decision, and I chose to surrender him to this foundation rather than sell him because I believed they would have the experience and compassion to ensure he had the best possible future. Unfortunately, after surrendering him, I was met with judgment rather than empathy. Given the organization's mission, I expected understanding and kindness during an already devastating situation. Instead, the experience left me feeling shamed at a moment when support would have mattered most.

To make matters worse, I later saw a post on their social media claiming that the dog was still available because all potential adopters "backed out at the last minute." This is misleading, since I was denied without fair consideration. It felt dishonest and unfair. It's frustrating to feel judged based on where I live rather than the care and commitment I can offer. Every dog deserves a good home, and every responsible applicant deserves to be evaluated honestly and fairly. Save your time and go somewhere else.

I made it clear that I just wanted one service. But I had to pay approximately $171 for services I did not want, what I wanted should have only cost me $66.64+tax (per their invoice). I understand why they conducted the services they did, but...they did not listen to me. I may even use them again, but I will be prepared to ether insist on what I want (not what they want) or just be prepared to pay for services I do not want or go somewhere else." Not every business has the moral character to contact a client concerning a review and discuss. Dr. Sheets did just that. I'm grateful for that. The whole staff is very kind, they are easy to get ahold of, they have answered any random questions I've had and have an excellent reminder system for shots that are needed. I even like their vet records more haha. The price is very fair for the experience. The shots themselves are priced similarly to other veterinary clinics. Having been here several times now, I've never seen another animal booked as the same time as me. Which has created a very positive experience and my dog has never been stressed visiting here (like they were at another clinic).

The receipt will only have boarding charges and any related charges (for food). For anyone wondering, the charge for someone to board a cat is $3 per meal time, $6 a day. I have had several animals vetted there prior to change in ownership and they were wonderful. Even helped me with my semi feral cat who gets bad allergy breakouts. They vetted him by picture and it worked. Otherwise, I have to trap the poor kitty with a coon trap. New vet won't prescribe the medication (saying it's illegal / a steroid) unless he is seen. Won't to do it with pictures even though we've been treating him for years this way (he's indoor for 9 years but still won't be picked up). So the cat gets to suffer OR be mentally anguished by being trapped. I guess the original vet wasn't worried about jail time. He was worried for the animal. Will be taking ALL my animals elsewhere going forward.

So in a panic I started calling vets to see if I could get referrals for a vet that does orthopedic surgery and I got several diff referrals and was waiting for callbacks when I called the Animal Care Clinic in Lexington. Lori answered the phone right away and was so kind and helped calm me down then she said "let me call the Dr and I will call you right back." I sent her images for Bailey's leg and figured it would be awhile but within 5 min she called me back and said "the Dr said come in the morning and he will take a look and that he thought he could help her." I literally cried! The next morning I walked into the office. I was amazed!!! There wasn't room full of people and their pets in an overcrowded waiting room. It was like walking into a very nice hospital! It was decorated so nicely! It was clean and organized! I immediately was greeted by Ms. Christina at reception and she took me straight to a room. Lori came in and then Dr. Schroyer. He examined Bailey and sat down and explained her injury, how he would repair it, recovery time etc. I was worried it was going to be a fortune but he was so much more affordable! It made it possible for us to afford it. The surgery went great. We went home and the office would call periodically to check on her progress between follow-up visits. Animal Care Clinic was the ABSOLUTE BEST clinic I have ever been to!! Working with rescues I have seen quite a few clinics so I can say with confidence you will not be disappointed with Animal Care Clinic!!! We stop by just to say hi when we're are in Lex!! She runs in so excited to see everyone!!! I figured she would be afraid to go in but even today she gets so excited!!! A dog being happy to go to the vet's office after surgery?!??!
