    4 Pieces Crispy Crab Rangoon

It's worth the wait!! I absolutely love Chinese food and the food at this business did not disappoint. Literally everything that we ate was absolutely delicious. The flank steak and the chow mein was tender. The honey black pepper shrimp were juicy and flavorful. The Mongolian chicken was also delicious. The green beans were cooked perfectly with a nice crunch! Unless you get there as soon as they're open, you're probably gonna have a bit of a weight so I put your name on the list and then go look around Chinatown come back and get absolutely full. The portions are family sized so if you got a big group, all you would need is about two entrées and you're good to go. I love that the food did not taste it greasy you did not feel "yucky" after you ate the service was excellent and the overall ambience is very low-key. This will absolutely be a staple for me.

Ambiance - casual, intimate, great for small groups Service - our server was polite & food came out super quickly Food - all the dishes were super flavorful, recommend mild spice level, signature dry chili chicken was juicy, ribs were on the drier side

Went for Sunday lunch, quite a lot people lined up way before it opened at 12pm. Even though it got Michelin awards several years in a row, but I think there's a gap. 4 adults ordered below dishes. Apple wood charcoal grill ribeye steak 大蒜蘋果木炭烤肉眼牛排 $40. It was delicious, it waked up my taste buds. Sour pickle & fish fillet soup 酸菜魚片湯 $13. Very good, the level sourness was just right. Plenty of fish in the soup. String bean 四季豆 $14, it's okay. Wood ear mushroom salad 凉拌黑木耳 $8. It was not close to the expectation, it's salty for some portion, and not much flavor on other portions. There should be vinegar added to improve the flavor. Cheng du spicy wonton 紅油抄手 $10.5. Not meeting our expectations, the sauce was not close, need to add vinegar. Signature dry chili fantail shrimp 香辣鳳尾蝦 $11. Not sure why it was a signature dish, not impressed.

Food is served piping hot with generous portions. I've heard it can get pretty busy but we were able to get a table for 3 with just a 20min wait. The restaurant is tightly packed and efficiently run. Food came out shortly after ordering. The spicy fish was my favorite of what we ordered and the sesame noodles is a close second. Some of the other dishes were also a bit too salty for my taste so I didn't enjoy them as much.

My family ordered a variety of dishes for lunch/dinner today. Everything is as delicious as I remembered from dining years ago. My favorite today was the pork stomach and bloom Szechuan style. Although my family decided on mild spicy for all dishes, everything was spicy even to my taste. The eggplant was always my family's favorite, no matter where we ordered from. It was pretty good. We placed the order before heading to a bakery inside the "old Chinatown". By the time we came back, our order was ready for pickup. I was told there were quite a few customers who decided to venture out despite the cold Chicago winter day. I hope to visit again in person sooner than later!

Finally had a chance to TRY MCCB. We were in town at Christmas and it was packed wall to wall. Tip: weekday lunch is prime! Went with staples: Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Garlic Green Beans with steamed rice, family style. Huge portions. Real quality food. Not terribly priced ($66 for two + a beer). Casual spot.

    Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce

Insanely large portions for the price but the quality of the food was disappointing: - Dan Dan noodles (6/10), used flat noodles instead of the round skinny noodles that are traditional, sauce wasn't very flavorful - mapo tofu (6/10), too soupy and also had no depth of flavor - dry chili chicken (8/10), very tender chicken but overly breaded and not crispy enough - garlic eggplant (8/10) loved the sauce so much but eggplant pieces were too big - sour pickled fish fillet (9/10), super tender fillet and the flavor was good, not as sour as others I've had - Choi sum (9/10), simple garlic vegetable, very tender Overall good, but not worth an hour long wait -- plenty of great restaurants nearby

The service is really great here. We got the traditional fried rice, egg drop soup and salt pepper bbq ribs. They were all great. The bbq ribs was a bit too fatty 4 me. I Def love the traditional fried rice. It felt so homey. *$10 deposit required if ur dining in if there is a wait. Momey goes towards ur bill. The surcharge will be taken off if ur paying w cash. Wait is about 20 to 30mins.

We shared: 1. Mei Zhou Special Baby Back Ribs 2. Sand Ginger Fly Chicken 3. Salt Pepper Fish Fillet Nailed the traditional flavors in all of these dishes. I was most impressed with the spices and aromatics in the Mei Zhou ribs - wow. I appreciate not too much batter used on the fish fillet. Chicken was dry. Service was good and helpful. Plenty of seating for small to large groups.

An obliterated Whole Fish Famous Chong Qing Style
    Salinda N.

To start, husband and I ordered Chef's Special Chicken Tendon (peanuts, green onion, dry bean curd, cilantro) and Wood Ear Mushroom Salad (chili peppers, dark vinegar, ginger juice, green onion). Both are cold apps. The chicken tendon is medium spicy and mushroom salad is mild spicy For entree, we ordered the Chongqing style whole fish whole tilapia, jalapeno, red pepper, marinated grounded pork, garlic, ginger, green onion). This was labeled as medium spicy. Told the waiter we wanted it spicy. He kept asking if we were sure and we kept having to reassure him that we can handle very spicy (husband is South Asian and I'm Southeast Asian). We didn't find any of these dishes spicy at all when they came out. The apps were not good. I felt it lacked that unami and desperately needed salt or something. Also I don't think they work well as cold dishes and would be better served warm/hot. The fish however was delicious. Steamed to perfection and the sauce worked really well with it and a fresh bowl of rice. We were in a trance and absolutely obliterated the sucker. While the apps were mediocre, I would want to come back and try other dishes solely because of the fish.

    Cumin short ribs
    Michelle G.

My friend really likes Szechuan food and enjoyed MCCB when she went in the past, so I've been meaning to go. Last time I went, we got the cumin short ribs and the fried chili squid (I forgot the exact name, but it's the one where they cook different food items the same way). The squid was delicious and really hit the spot, but the cumin short ribs were underwhelming for me. So 4 because I believe MCCB has a bunch of five star dishes, but I haven't had enough of them.

Let me just start off by saying this this place has some delicious family style food. My son recommended this place to me and a friend. It was a 30-minute wait time to get a table. I put down a $10.00 reservation charge, which goes towards your meal. There is a menu selection of unique traditional Chinese cuisine. The portions are huge. You can order several things off the menu and share with your party. OMG is all I can say about this place. I will be coming back to try out more things on the menu. The service could have been better. One of the young ladies acted like she didn't want to work that day. Full of attitude towards the customer. The service was kind of slow, and they kept bringing food out to the wrong table.

Are you closed for a while? Been trying to order says closed.

Hello, MCCB is close for our annual vacation. Will be back on Aug 27. Thanks

Can my group bring our own wine? Do you have a corkage fee?

MCCB is not BYOB base. We serve Beer and wine in house, Thanks

    Is the orange chicken spicy?

Yes, it will be mild spicy.

Is there cross contamination with pork dishes? Like if I order a beef dish or a vegetarian dish is it cooked in the same oil that the pork dishes are prepared in? Thank you.

You should call the restaurant and ask them, as only they would know the answer to this question.

We love the food here; which items are 100% vegan?

As of 45 min ago absolutely nothing is vegan except the Chinese lettuce. Everything is fried in the same fryer so every meat has contaminated the oil. Vegans and Muslims have to eat elsewhere.

    Do you accept Apply pay?

    MCCB do accept Apple Pay

Do they have indoor or outdoor dining available? Or is it takeout only right now?

MCCB is doing takeout and delivery right now. Our dine-in room is plan to open on May 1, 2021. Thank You

I was really…read morecraving some good Chinese food but did not want to go into downtown first to pick up and then head back home so I looked this place up and had decent reviews and decided to try it out. What really impressed me was they had a specific section of the menu which was titled "Salt and Pepper". Of course I was super excited to try the salt and pepper tofu so here's what we got: - we got the salt and pepper tofu - we got the American garlic broccoli - got the mala lamb. - Got a pair of complimentary vegetarian spring rolls. When I went to pick up the take-out order, I was shocked at how heavy it was. This was clearly a lot of food. I'll start with the lamb. Very well thought out packaging, to be straight. Because the lamb had a lot of oil and liquid in it, they put it in a plastic container, which they knew is going to leak. They put that entire container in a separate tiny plastic bag and wrapped it so that the juices from that would not come all over in the main bag. Really appreciate that. Now the lamb, while cooked okay, the flavor was just, you know, it did not do it for me. Add to that they really kept the lamb as relatively big pieces. They were thinly sliced but they were just large pieces. They could have been smaller for it to be easier to eat. Flavor-wise there was just too much black pepper, which is what I was expecting, but to match that there was no flavor as such. The salt and pepper tofu was a disaster. I got it from other places. The flavor just was not doing it. It was not crispy at all. Yes I have them take out salt and pepper tofu from many other places. It does leave its crunchiness to some extent. This one had zero crunch. In fact it was weird. Every piece that was stuck to the next one had something gooey on it. Just overall the flavor was very underwhelming. The American garlic broccoli was overcooked to the extent it did not have the firmness one would expect and was overcooked to the extent where some of the smaller pieces just disintegrated. The spring roll is wild. The casing was phenomenal. It was perfect for a spring roll even after opening it after one hour. Really appreciate that. The filling, however, there really weren't many vegetables in it at all. That was very disappointing. Overall I don't think I am going to grab food from here again. The reason they get the 3.5 stars, though, is they did a phenomenal job on the packaging of all the food. The quantity was well beyond what I expected. The food, however, I have to say, was a disaster. And maybe this is my taste. It may be it's a bit too Americanized and I have not been used to eating very Americanized Chinese food for the last many years. That might be the problem.

The dry chili chicken had the perfect amount of heat, the chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the Dan Dan noodles were very flavorful and the wontons came with the same spiciness just a different texture.
