This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area, but there has been issues the last several times that I've eaten there. I phoned in my order to sit at the bar ahead of time because I was short on time. I ordered wings that are on special and that is why I went there. They would not give me eat in special price because they entered my order as take out order even after I brought it to their attention. The wings were extremely black and overcooked, and were very dry. I should have sent them back to the kitchen. I also had a Caesar salad that is normally very good but it had almost no cheese so it was very plain just romaine, 3 small Italian tomato slices and a few croutons. I will have to find a new restaurant in the area because of the food quality and attitude about making things right (Customer service). I eat out daily for lunch during the work week. read more

We asked about our food. They responded we have a full patio. Ok fine. Then when our food came it was the wrong meal for my husband. Then I asked to speak to the manager owner wife. She came over very combative rude! Stating that our meal was only in for 27 minutes. Oh ok still waiting to pay. The couple that came in to be seated when my husband was on his second beer. We had an overall great experience at Trio tonight!! We made a reservation for 5 PM, so I suggest calling a day ahead for a reservation. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I ordered the crab dip, and it was great. They serve it with pretzel bites - I just wish it came with a few more pretzel pieces. My husband had the single smash burger, and he says it was really good. Subtracting one star because the wait staff is not very warm or friendly. There were several occasions that our waitress would approach the table, quickly clear a plate or cup, and run off before we could alert her of something else we needed. Also, the interior is quite dark and it was hard to see the menus because there were no lights near our booth. They could greatly benefit from some updates inside. The food was decent for the price. The amount you get is pretty fair for what you paid for. They should have a sign or something saying that you should seat yourself because we've seen a few people that haven't been there before stand around waiting to be seated. The place has plenty of seating for large parties or big groups. There's also outdoor seating in the back during the summer. Overall, pretty good since the last time I was in. This place has become super disappointing. The last several times I've gotten the tofu wrap the tofu was mega thick and cold/mushy. Inedible. They also used to have a separate fryer for vegetarian items to not be cross contaminated. A server informed us that this is no longer true and everything is all cooked together with the meat. Vegetarians and vegans beware. She stated that even the tortilla chips are friend in the same oil as the chicken wings. At least they have a nice place for drinks outside in the warm weather. Admittedly, have a fondness for this neighborhood bar, as it was in my neighborhood for a short time and the people are just that nice. The staff and owners have been very kind to a Rugby teammate who was a regular, his memorial service was even held here.........just genuine folks. The food is good, creative bar food I guess is the best way to describe it. I enjoy their burgers and wings, the salads are huge! The interior has been refreshed and they've added a huge private room and outside deck over the last few years. Typically there's a decent selection of beers on tap and a full bar. We're most comfortable at the bar, but the service is excellent in the dining area as well. Large parking lot and entertainment on the patio in good weather rounds this place out, that deck was definitely an added bonus. read more

Wow, just wow! This place is actually a little unbelievable. It's street presence appears to be a small restaurant, but it's huge! It's also extremely good! Our waitress Krystal was amazing. I don't mean just the fact she took care of all of our needs, but I mean she had a house full and everyone was served and happy. She was constantly on the move. They have so many great foods I would not do it justice to name them all. The Ahi tacos were awesome, the lobster roll was as delicious as I've ever had. The roll and the lobster was so perfect, moist, and buttery. The beers were a great selection that had many from PA and MD Craft breweries. They have TVs everywhere, but didn't have the sound up so you couldn't have a conversation if you wanted. The rooms are separated so you can have event and reserve a room. The outside area for dining was spectacular, with tables that have umbrellas and a separate area with a roof. The menu had so many offerings, and they are authentic like the crab cakes (even though it's not in MD). Please try it, you'll like it. read more

It's an interesting little place. The dining room doesn't have much in the way of character. We ate at the bar. Bar folk was half regulars, half employees. Our bartender was friendly and fast. She never left us "on empty" which was nice. The menu, in my opinion, is a typical bar menu, with some tweaks to make it a little more upscale. We had the fried avocado tacos. They were surprisingly good, but lacked a sauce or something. The flavor was good, but they were dry. We also had the buffalo chicken dip. it was good, despite the layer of grease on top of the dip itself. I'd go back, there was some interesting items on the menu I wouldn't mind trying, such as the avocado reuben or the ABC (apples, bacon and cheddar). I've been here many times since my initial review, always for pick up. Although my star rating hasn't changed here's my opinion. This place has zero ambiance. In fact I feel the interior is dreary and dark. My lone dining experience gave me a depressed feeling. It's loud and dark and I wouldn't consider dining in for a family. Food is mostly good but some items are hit or miss. Sweet potato fries could use improvement but beer battered and hand cut are usually spot on. However at times the hand cut have been overcooked or were excessively greasy. The Pittsburgh salad is a must order! They thoughtfully separate hot and cold ingredients. Take out is our preferred method although we've never been provided silverwear or napkins. Just something to consider if eating on the road. Pick up is also at the bar which I despise. Nothing is worse than being a lone female at a bar. Especially on game day. It's uncomfortable and intimidating plus you usually have a wait till the bartender makes his way to you. They seriously need to change this process. Overall we like some of their dishes, hate dining in, fries are hit or miss, and pick up needs improved. Trio's stands out as a casual bar with excellent food. If you haven't been since they've opened their new patio space out back, you need to go check it out. It's huge, safe, and beautiful. This place adapted to the pandemic to enjoy outdoor dining spaced apart from other tables and even grab a drink while you're waiting. They have some cool special drinks like an orange crush and an electric blueberry lemonade, and even hard seltzer. The thing that I was really excited about was their food menu. They have TONS of vegan options. I literally had a hard time deciding what to get (which never happens, as I usually have a choice between 1-2 items). I opted for the buffalo tofu wrap with a house salad and it was awesome. They also have a few veggies burgers, a curry veggie dish, and an avocado rueben. Outstanding food without even the slightest pretentious vibe. My wife and I stopped here while looking for some vegetarian options while in the Columbia area and were pleased to learn of their vegan and vegetarian offerings. We started out simple sharing an order of the hummus. It came within a few minutes of ordering and was a huge serving, much larger than the standard appetizer-sized hummus you get from other restaurants. It was smooth and creamy but also clearly homemade. Not overly garlicky but you definitely got that it was made with chickpeas and roasted red peppers. The carrots, celery and toasted focaccia bread were all perfect compliments. My wife -- who doesn't like raw carrots -- was impressed with their freshness. I ordered the Avocado Reuben, being a big fan of the Reuben from my meat-eating days. It came with a choice of sides and I went with the beer battered fries. The fries were very good, but the highlight was definitely the Reuben. I never would have guessed to substitute the meat with an avocado, but it worked so well. It was buttery and salty and the flavors all worked together perfectly. Highly recommended. My wife ordered the grilled Mac and Cheese sandwich and also picked the beer battered fries as a side. She dove head first into the sandwich and felt it needed a little salt. (When I tried it, I thought it was probably ok without anything added). It was gooey and delicious and super buttery.
