I made a deposit and retained McConnell to replace my windshield, and separately arranged to have another business replace the tint. It would take about 1/2 day to get it all done. I had to take time off work. McConnell knew this. McConnell cancelled my appointment and gave me no effective advance notice; they let me know when I walked in the door for the appointment. It's 30 miles round-trip to their business. They have almost no customer wait area. There were thunderstorms in the area but when I arrived McConnell was open, customers going in and out of their business. The tint business next door and other area businesses, all open. Weather cleared up nicely as I drove home. I attempted to reschedule the install, but after a series of emails, it became clear McConnell was not trying to accommodate reschedule. They implied they might not refund my deposit. Finally, I quit playing their games and cancelled. They wasted my time and I lost a $20 tint deposit because of them. At least in this instance, they act like customer service, they could care less. read more

On 8-12-2024, I entrusted my 2015 SHO to McConnell Auto Glass. The precision and expertise with which they replaced the cowling at the base of my windshield were truly remarkable. The entire appointment, including keeping me updated on the repair progress, took less than an hour. My positive experience with McConnell Auto Glass began weeks before the appointment. The office manager recommended contacting a body shop first, as their prices may be lower than McConnell Auto Glass. I did so, got a lower estimate, and was kept waiting for a repair that the body shop stated, in the end, that they did not do; They did not repair cowlings. I endured two missed appointments and a daylong wait for that outcome! I will not mention the body shop's name, but one would assume that someone of their Caliber could correctly state what they did or did not do! [Caliber Collision of Cary, for example!] I cannot recommend McConnell Auto Glass of Raleigh, NC, highly enough. I give them a perfect rating of five (5). My car was broken into at my home and I needed the drivers side glass fixed fast! I called around and mcconnel auto glass was not only the most pleasant out of 4 companies I called they had the quickest opening which was the very next day! Safelife had a full weeks wait! Every person I came in contact with whether it be the people on the phone or the guy who came to fix the window, every single person was kind and easy to talk to. Lastly, they even vaccuumed the glass out of my car from the break in! (They are not required to do that, but some of their cars have a vacuum ) To sum it up, these people are kind and cool, quick, and literally half the price of safe life. McConnell Auto Glass came out to our house to fix the windshield of our 2018 Toyota Tacoma, which had a large crack in the windshield from a rock flying up on the interstate. I had to have my windshield replaced, and after checking through some of the other businesses, including major businesses, I decided on McConnell. They were very prompt in getting a quote, helping me figure out my insurance, and scheduling the appointment to come out to me (no extra charge for mobile service). They showed up within the scheduled time and had called ahead to let me know they were on the way so I was ready for them. The technicians were both very friendly and explained what all would be done before and as they were working in it. They did a really good job getting the old window out.. I was afraid it would leave glass everywhere .. but it DIDN'T and they cleaned up very nicely (including the nerf bullet stuck in the groove of the window) Something had happened with one of the wipers and they called both the owner of the shop and the dealership to see what the trouble was. The owner even went to the extent of getting a replacement wiper arm thinking that would be the fix and came out himself to try to fix it. As it turned out the issue was the motor and not related to the repair at all .. but with their recommendation to On-site Automotive it got taken care of quickly. I would highly recommend this business for how personal they are.. it didn't feel like I was just another $$ to them.. especially considering the extent they went to help resolve the wiper issue! We were driving toward North Hills on the Beltline when a car passed us and a pebble flew into our windshield, creating a tiny ping on the driver's side. We asked for referrals and our insurance agent sent us to McConnell Auto Glass. McConnell attempted to patch the ping with an adhesive. That repair lasted maybe a week, and we returned with the same chip that had now grown to three or four inches across the windshild. McConnell's techician told us that the windshield needed replacement. Apparently, modern cars are hooked up to lots of electronic gadgets which are part of the windshield. So, a windshield replacement involves the glass and the reprogramming of your electronics, called "recalibrating." McConnell charged us for the window replacement and another amount for recalibrating it. McConnell replaced the glass, but could not recalibrate the windshield. The technician told us to take the car back to the dealership and have them repair the "radar," which we did. The dealership looked at the problem and reported that the problems with the radar were caused by McConnell's incompetent replacement of the windshield. McConnell, at this point, had three strikes against it. 1) the patch of the glass didn't work at all; 2) they said they would email to us the problems they found with the radar, and they did not, and 3) they were unable to recalibrate the windshield. We had little confidence in their ability to make the repairs, and the dealership was able to make the repair, but the dealership charged as much as the windshield to recalibrate it. We went back to McConnells and their counter person became defensive and unpleasant. McConnells may do well with other people's cars, but they were unable to repair ours. read more
