I have zero complaints! We wandered in thinking we were going to play trivia and sat in the bar area at a high-top, assuming that's where it would be--without asking anyone (rookie mistake). We ended up ordering dinner instead. I had the salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans, and I've got to say, it was swimming in butter... but pretty much in a good way. Maybe just a touch less would have been perfect--though I think the super delicious green beans were the main culprit. My boyfriend ordered the Cuban sandwich, and it was ginormous--so good that he packed up the leftovers to eat later that night. It turns out trivia was happening in the other room, and there were a lot of people participating. Our awesome server told us they give out prizes (I think it was money off future meals), and that some nights are packed while others are totally dead--but even if only one table shows up, they still win the prize. That alone is incentive enough for me to come back, since that's probably the only way I'll ever win--lol! My friend and I arrived around 2pm. The location didn't appear to be too busy but there were people there. They handed us a lot of menus which was somewhat overwhelming. But regardless we took a minute to look them over. We were never given glasses of water which was just strange to me. The server we had, I think was also the bartender. I ordered a French 75 (8/10) and my friend ordered an Irish coffee. Biggest issue was there was no whipped cream... and when asked about it, apparently they don't stock whipped cream for anything. Strange. The food menu didn't look too appealing and so we decided to just have drinks. The biggest issue for me was that it was HOT inside. So uncomfortable. I was having to fan myself. I enjoyed McCray's. Came in for some Sunday football and loved how many TVs they had. I'd definitely recommend for a sports day. The TVs were showing both the games which I liked. They have main area, then a larger area in the back with more and bigger TVs. We opted for the back room. Their drinks were pretty good and they have a large selections of drinks to choose from. They also have a sports menu that's served on Saturday & Sundays. We got the chicken quesadillas. They were good, pretty standard bar food. We also ordered the boneless wings which were ok as well. The staff was very nice and our server, Mya was great. It wasn't super crowded and there was a lot of free parking. Stopped by while in town for work based on a recommendation. Good lunchtime crowd, but we were able to get seated quickly. I recently went to McCray's on a whim as I remembered I had a gift card. The weather was nice outside so we decided to sit on the patio. We both ordered the southwest bowl with chicken. This was a very delicious bowl. The chicken did need a bit more seasoning as it had no taste, but altogether it was delicious because everything else had amazing flavor. I enjoyed that this dish wasn't too heavy, was filling, and overall a healthier option for me. Our waitress was friendly and she made sure to check on us a number of times to make sure everything was going well. She also was very polite. Normally I come in here because it's my neighborhood bar. No I'm not an everyday customer so I don't know the hours. I walked in today around 1040p. Something told me something was a little off because the server was acting like she didn't want to take me as a table (party of two) because as former server myself, we always chasing a tip. So the African American young female server was pushing us to get service from Ashley (my girl) at the bar. We were cool with that because I love Ashley. As me and the other person in my party were gathering our drink order to go order AT THE BAR, someone that works there told the sista that they already did last call. THAT WOMAN LIED AND SAID (in a low voice) "I know I told them". SHE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT LAST CALL AND TO LIE ON CUSTOMERS IS A NON-NEGOTIABLE FOR ME!!! The salmon blt was amazing! And the sweet potato fries. Highly recommend. I see there are tons of specials throughout the week for families, kids and adults. Great neighborhood spot It appears to be. My mom ordered the baby back ribs, don't recommend at all! They were tough and didn't fall off the bone. But the service was quick to fix and my mom got the salmon instead and she said it was way better! So overall you can't lose ordering salmon. We are visiting in town, so it was a great spot. Dinner for 2 We parked the car in what turned out to be a mixed-use area and lucked out with a spot right up front. As we stepped out, we were greeted by someone we'd later come to know as Tony. He welcomed us warmly and asked if we preferred to sit at a table or at the bar. Surprisingly, Wifey chose the bar. I had made a reservation on OpenTable for 5:15 PM. Even though the place wasn't too busy at the time, I let Tony know about the reservation just to avoid getting dinged on the app. He acknowledged that and made a note in the system. Tony handed us menus and pointed us to a QR code to scan the beer list. He was enthusiastic about the freshly smoked chicken dinner, which came with two sides. When it came to the beer selection, Tony really knew his stuff. He asked about our favorite styles, and when Wifey said she liked lagers, he recommended a Mexican lager. She ended up going for a full 16 oz pour. As for me, he mentioned a couple of Hazy IPAs, both of which I'd tried already. Then he suggested the Pernicious IPA by Wicked Weed--something I'd also had before and really enjoyed--so I went with that. So it was the Mexican lager for Wifey and the Pernicious for me. After browsing the menu, I ordered the smoked turkey club--no avocado, no tomatoes--with a side of rice and black beans. Wifey went with Tony's recommendation: the smoked chicken dinner with mac & cheese and coleslaw. My sandwich was excellent. The bread had that perfect crunch on the outside and was soft inside. Everything worked together just right, and even the rice and beans were well-seasoned. Wifey was equally happy with her meal. The smoked chicken had great flavor, the mac & cheese was creamy and satisfying, and even the coleslaw hit the mark. The side portions were generous--big enough that I managed to sneak a few bites myself. All in all, everything was delicious. I go in, they don't have a happy hour, I look through the menu, nothing looked appetizing and I was bummed they didn't have the happy hour listed. I wanted to order a $6 drink they had advertised everywhere I looked, they said the deal was over and they couldn't honor it. Okay, whatever. Did someone take a bite off the bread & put it on the plate? Why would yall continue to place it there? Everytime I come to this spot it's something , idk where to start actually. This day , the cups we were giving were filthy... & it looks like some ate our food otw to us... Why would yall bring it out like that??? A previous incident we tried sitting at the bar , was not acknowledge til about 10 minutes later while the bartenders saw us come in the bar & take a seat. On top of that , the food we had just ordered came out completely cold.... If you're not a regular at the bar service will be completely trash. With that being said I was waiting to check out , a couple of regulars walked in & the bartender proceeded to ignore me saying i needed my check & went to crack a laugh & make their drinks. As we pulled up to the restaurant, a smoker was doing its thing and the smell of smoked wings filled the air. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and decided to sit at the bar. Went there on a Friday night and we got seated right away. We got a high table by the bar and only ordered drinks and wings. Our waiter was nice and got us our drinks fairly quickly. I ordered a whisky sour, but it tasted as if soda had been added to the drink. I told our waiter and he changed the drink right away with no issues. Had a great time here on a Sunday. I came here around 11 with my mother for brunch. We were immediately seated in the bar area, our server was Shai. I had the breakfast sandwich and Mac n cheese, and she had wings and eggs. We both ordered a side of breakfast potatoes. Mac and cheese was okay, not great but not bad. We really liked the potatoes, but my mom's order of them came out cold. Shai was swift in correcting the problem. I liked my sandwich and she liked her wings but we agreed that it wasn't...... "delicious." But it was good. They do not have bottomless mimosas, but they do have a mimosa tower (pictured) which is enough for two. The mimosa is pre-made so you do not have an option to choose another juice. It was still good. The service was awesome, she made us feel at home and took great care of us. The manager stopped by and checked on us as well. like that the bar area has TV's around the entire perimeter. No matter where you are sitting you can see a television. McCray's is located in a work/live/play area, so there are 7+ other restaurants in the walking distance. That being said, nothing really stands out or encourages me to go back there and not somewhere else. Again, nothing was bad. It was just a regular place to eat at. I have been to McCray's many time over the years and somehow never hit the review button, but after my latest visit which included brunch...I knew I had to share! While there are a few McCray's located around the metro area, this particular McCray's is located off of Atlanta Road near the 285 rampway and sits in the West Village Shopping Center. West Village is a mixed use center with residential (rentals and homes) along with a variety of restaurants including Blue Moon Pizza, Five Guys, Starbucks, Zama and a few others, as well as a barber shop, nail salon and medical offices. The center is well maintained and kept clean as well. Over the years a few different restaurants and shops have come and gone, but McCray's has stayed steady through it all! In the shopping center, McCray's sits on the back corner across from Blue Moon. This is a PERFECT spot for a restaurant, especially one that wants to boast a patio for those sweet spring and fall days here in Atlanta! The patio features a few large tables and several smaller two/four tops with some covered and others on the open patio, but fitted with umbrellas. In my previous visits, I always came here for dinner and drinks, to which I never had an issue. My go-to for dinner is a toss up between the smoked wings or the buffalo chicken panini. The wings, y'all...they are smackin' good! They smoke on site, usually with a massive smoker they keep on the patio...if you are near and see the puffs of smoke, you know they got something good coming your way! The wings are smoked with a dry rub and then before tossing them on the plate they fry them to get the perfect crisp! Legit, no sauce needed! The buffalo chicken panini is a real solid sandwich! I always go with fried chicken, as well...duh! In addition to the thick and plentiful chicken on the sammy, you get cheese, dressing and bacon. It's a tasty meal between some crispy bread for sure! My latest visit was for brunch and this was a first for me at McCray's. I love me a good breakfast sandwich and honestly, that was what I was after this weekend, however...you don't just put chilaquiles on a menu and not expect me to get it! The chilaquiles were small in size, but mighty in taste! However, the size definitely fooled me, because even though it appeared small, I barely finished it as they packed so much into that bowl it was almost magic! Their chilaquiles is served in a salsa verde sauce instead of red, but all the other parts such as the chicken, fried egg, chips and cheese were classic to the dish! As someone who has sampled this dish around the country and definitely around the metro area, I was actually shocked at how good it was at McCray's! You can call me surprised, but you can't call me hungry...because I tore that plate up and washed it down with a $5 mimosa! Service was decent, over my trips to McCray's the one constant is rather slow service. They are always very friendly and helpful, but getting them to the table can be a task at times. During my last visit, I had to get up twice in search of our waitress after waiting for about 5 mins to see if she was going to return. It is never absolutely garbage, but can be annoying for sure. Overall, McCray's is a solid place in a great location! It can a date night spot, place for some drinks with friends or a tasty brunch spot! My family and I recently dined at McCray's Tavern on Saturday, November 22. I've been here several times before the food and service have been at a good standard. Our server Maria was initially very nice. It was when we asked her to split the check (it was 5 of us) 3 on one check and 2 on the other, things took a turn. Her face instantly changed, and you could see pure irritation. She looked around the table and said "well I hope I can remember what's what." When she walked off, we were all left feeling with how the energy with her had shifted. She had one thing wrong on the ticket...no big deal we just went along with how she split it. I went in to pay the two separate tickets. One ticket was $111, I gave her $112. The other ticket was $65 and I gave her my card. She then turned around and asked me, "so there's no gratuity with this, is that what this is?" I couldn't believe she asked me that! I told her I gave you my card, I can tip on the card. Which was the plan for me to tip for all of us, on my card! I've never had a server asked me if I was leaving gratuity or not in that type of tone! All because we asked her to split the check! Super annoying for google to be misleading but even more annoying that I had to get up and walk over there. Lunch at McCray the other week for a friend's birthday (so mad we missed the bottom less mimosa for brunch by an hour lol). I enjoyed my time here, we were seated in the booth with a direct view of the flatscreen tv so I was able to catch the game while having lunch. The drink was pretty good, well ok. I ordered a margarita that the waitress recommend (i forgot the name but it was pinl color) but I said ok because it was a little too sweet. I wanted my liquor than sweetness. We ordered the buffalo chicken rolls which was ok as well..I think because it didn't come out as fresh as I would've wanted. And as far as entrees we order between the nachos (which was hugeee), chicken Caesar salad and salmon. All which was pretty good, didn't hear any negative feedbacks from anyone at the table. There's parking at the deck next to the restaurant, the availability is pretty limited so when you arrive expect to wait a bit for a car to leave unless you just get lucky with an open spot. Parking was approx $6 for a 2 hours time. Overall decent recent, will need to come back to catch their brunch's bottom less mimosa next time. read more
