Great service. Staff is very responsive and quick turnaround. Getting in the driveway is a little tricky due to the one-way street but other than that this place is solid. Had transmission work done and they kept me informed every step of the way. Told me about other upcoming maintenance but wasn't too pushy when I declined. I found these guys on Yelp looking for a place to get my car safety inspected. A few shops nearby were known to be busy and required a wait so I opted to call McCully Union Service before I left home to get the full run down. I arrived at 8:30am and surprisingly no line at all! Carlin greeted me with the best customer service you could ask for at a small shop like this. He literally treated me like I knew him for awhile now. The true Aloha spirit found tucked away on Beretania St. He squared away my vehicle for safety and also found I needed a replacement bulb for my license plate, which he had on hand. If you're looking for a shop with great customer service, this is it. They do oil changes and alignments as well on a first come first serve basis. Credit cards accepted. read more

they over charge!! If you find $10 in the regular hardware store, for the same item, they will charge you $50!! and don't call you about the cost before the replacement! My easy job is overcharged by $150 than Midas for the same job!! (after the job, I call Midas for the price).. The worse part...after paying extra, the car still has the same problem....and they ask me to pay more to fix others! if you go there, ask for the price first and don't do any job before calling other people for the price, such as Midas, goodyear...etc read more

My experience here was the best I've had. I would recommend this shop to any other yelper with no hesistation. Chris, the manager, is helpful, articulate, and honest. The mechanics are friendly as well. I had my car (1999 Honda Accord EX 3.0 VTEC V6) towed to the shop after calling the S. Beretania location because it wouldn't start. They do a diagnostic and call you back with an estimate. If you accept it, the diagnosis is no charge. If you choose to decline their services, you pay just the labor charge for the time spent looking at your car (which is 80.00 per hour). So when Chris called me, he quoted me a price and broke down the parts and labor. I did a check online to see how much other people were paying for similar work. To get the fuel pump and fuel strainer replaced within a day cost me only $482.21. Very good deal. When I asked, he was more than willing to give me a detailed explanation of what specific work was done in a friendly and understandable way. I was pretty blown away by the honesty and good price I got. I hate to admit that I kind of buy into the dishonest mechanic stereotype. It's just that I've been burnt before. But these guys are busting the stereotype, and for that I'll be giving them my business. I know the price for replacing a fuel pump where you don't have to take out the whole fuel tank is much cheaper, but still with parts, labor, and tax my total came in below the quoted price which was already pretty low. ***RIP-OFF ALERT*** I should have read negative reviews posted here. They sound very believable based on my personal experience. Technicians here may be friendly in the beginning but please be careful. It's all because they are trying to rip you off as much as they can. They examined my car and they explained that they needed to do this and that to check the core problem. They can only repair MINOR issues and they ABANDON when things are beyond their ability. Long story short, they couldn't fix my car at all. Not only that, now I have to junk my car and furthermore they charged me nearly $900. The worst part is they didn't even warn me the car was in the critical condition and my car got stuck in the middle of the road on the way home. All they care about is earn extra money from you, NOT YOUR SAFETY!! Stay away from this place! read more

If could put negative stars i would. Horrible service! Thae old man is a jerk and the younger dude is a tool. I havent registered a vehicle here for a few years since ive been gone so was kinda clueless to how it worked. I needed my safety to get my truck registered so i pull in wait for an hour, get skipped in line cause they new the dude behind me. Then i pull in and instead of telling me hey your not gonna pass you need to go to recon station first (truck is obviously lifted) they tell me go in and pay $26.00. I come out he gives me the bad news says my voided safety is good for 30 days till i complete the recon check... Well i cant get recon till april 21! This place has ABSOLUTELY NO ALOHA! And will gladly take your money while making you feel like crap read more

Yes, they are helpful indeed, very professional, polite, and transparent in what they are doing and how they are charging you. I had quite a bit of work done here from battery to fuel pump, and never was overcharged. My safety check had expired at the end of April so I needed to get one as soon as possible. I always see people driving around with expired safety checks, but with my luck, I'd be pulled over and given a ticket/fine for it! It was my day off from work today, but I had errands and appointments. When I had some free time, I called McCully Union Service since I was in the area and it had great yelp reviews. The person who answered the phone said that they can do safety checks until 4:45 as they close at 5 and it should take about 15 minutes. Almost missed the first entrance, so go slow if you're unfamiliar with the area as I am. Turned in and got behind the one car the was being checked. They seemed to have some issues with the car and it was taking a little longer than the 15 minutes (or so it seemed, as I didn't really time it lol). Another car pulled in behind me and then a truck pulled in behind them. If anyone else was trying to come here, there wasn't anywhere for them to go. Anyways, when they left I pulled forward. The mechanic was super friendly and my safety check was done quickly. I've never actually done it before, so I didn't realize that I would sit in the car and turn on the headlights, high beams, windshield wipers, turn signals, etc. Gave him my paperwork and credit card, he applied my new sticker, gave my paperwork and receipt to me, and that was it. My experiences here have been amazing! I used to live near this shop, but never thought of going there. I was introduced to Charles, the manager there, over a year ago from a mutual friend, & now we're almost like family! Been going there ever since, & have been satisfied each time. My very first repair I got there was to fix the joints/bushings in the front of the car. Got a quote from a "name brand" auto repair shop, & I was blown away! They told me it would be about $1600, & that wasn't including labor! Went to McCully Union, & Charles gave me a lesser quote, which included labor. Same parts too. I recommend this place to everyone I know, & even carry his business cards with me. The good thing, they DON'T charge for diagnostics, & will only perform any type of work OR order any parts until you give the OK. Not all shops do that. My experience at the "name brand" shop, they were trying to get me to pay a courtesy fee because they had already called around for the part & had it delivered. Nope! Let me begin by acknowledging the fact that I, much to the disappointment of my father, know practically nothing about cars. Therefore, when my engine began making a loud humming noise accompanied by a strong burning odor, I understandably FREAKED OUT. It was late on a Friday night and I knew I couldn't wait until Monday to get it fixed by my usual mechanic. After searching on Yelp, I found only a handful of auto repair shops nearby that were open on Saturdays. McCully Union Service was the closest to my apartment, so I figured I'd drop by in hopes that someone could diagnose the problem. Even though Tiger, the mechanic, was busy working on another car when I arrived, he agreed to take a look. Within 5 minutes he found the source of the problem...the alternator. Greattt. However, Charles (the manager, owner, or some sort of higher-up) reassured me that they would be able to squeeze me in and fix it that day...better yet, within an hour and a half! And true to his word, I got my car back, fixed and ready to go, in an hour and fifteen minutes! Both Charles and Tiger were very helpful and so polite, which makes a stressful situation a lot easier to deal with! Pros: -Open Saturdays (unfortunately, Charles told me that they'll only be open on Saturdays until the end of October...beginning in November, their hours will be M-F 7:30 am - 5:00 pm) -Very accommodating!! -Fast, friendly service Cons: -Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive place either (Depending on your situation, this may or may not make a difference. I called my dad, a total car guy, to ask if the quote was reasonable...he said it was a bit pricey, but not outrageous. Personally, I didn't want to wait until Monday and risk driving my car in that condition in the meantime. If it's not an urgent problem, I would recommend getting another quote elsewhere and compare prices first.) read more

Great service and pricing they don't over charge like Midas and Goodyear! Repairs done right they will only fix what needs to be done,they will let you know if somthing needs to fix in the future to keep a eye on it and no pressure to to fix it on spot. I brought my old car here after it broke down and needed a new radiator...having my car break down for the first time ever was a little traumatizing! The tow truck brought my car here based on a friends recommendation. By the time I had arrived to the services station I was upset and nearly two hours late for work (at my new job). Charles greeted me and saw/ understood that I was having a terrible morning. He explained what he was going to look at and what he expected to find wrong with my car. He said he estimated it would cost $500 to fix and that he wouldn't do anything until he looked at it and called me to discuss. I said ok and was out of there, and on my way to work in 15 minutes. I went to work and had a phone call by 2pm to discuss my car he said it was the radiator and provided the estimate and what needed to be done. The car was ready for pick up the next afternoon and ran great until! I sold it shortly after it being fixed but will bring my new car there for any future repairs or questions. Charles is an honest business man who will fix what needs to be fixed and charge the appropriate amount and nothing more. You don't often find car places like this! Super impressed with the service here. Stopped by in the morning to get a safety check and found out one of the taillights were out. The mechanic (I didn't get his name) said he would replace it and safety check was done! He also took the time to take off the residue from the old sticker. Also found out the tires were flat and we were missing caps on them. He pumped the tires and gave us a couple extra caps he had in the back. Really friendly guys and hassle free service. Friendliest service I have ever received for a safety check, the technician even took the time to remove old sticker-gunk build-up around the area of sticker placement in the bumper, certainly something no other service station has ever done for my car before.
