The place is kind of hard, to put together thematically. I get the Miami color scheme but the layout was kind of weird with a bar on the side and a lot of kids drawings on the whole left side of the wall. Prices were "okay" a single party is $7 but if you add cheese and some onions it's $10 which is kind of a large up charge for two things. The cheese is vegan since this is a kosher burger joint. The food was okay, the burger lacked a lot of the depth that I expected from a smash burger. It was just a regular burger, kind of bland. The fried Onions were "okay" too, it felt like they didn't bring the oil to temperature before dropping it in so they were soggy and oily. The service I got was good though, the girl explained everything and was really nice. I did leave a tip even though I honestly don't think they should be asking for tips for a place where you have to clean up after yourself and all they did was bring it out. I thought I'd give this place a try. I ran from my car through the rain and tugged on the door....locked. The door hours say open at 11! So much for the lit "open" sign. They have outdoor metal tables and chairs under an awning. I sat at an outdoor table for ten minutes. I looked through the storefront window at a couple employees prepping and I read the wall menu. A guy unlocked the place at 11. I let a young family and several other guys go ahead of me. Guy at the slicing wheel waited on me. I ordered a small Mama Lastrada turkey & salami on wheat. There's about a half dozen employees behind the counter dealing with the assembly line of customers and sandwiches. Guy at the slicing wheel tells me one of the other guys will work on my sandwich. Okay. However, I can't move down the line because there's customers still lined up ahead of me waiting for their food. Slicing wheel guy looks up at me a minute later and asks what he can get for me. I look back at him waiting for him to recognize me from a minute ago when he already had sliced my order. No recognition! I repeated my order to him. Now he remembers me! He again refers me to one of his junior sandwich prep guys. I overheard him telling a busy junior guy, "This is just a small Mama on wheat" or something like that. Still, I can't go down the line because there's guy ahead of me had placed an order for 3 sandwiches. I swear to you that the slicing wheel guy asks me for a THIRD time for my order! By this time, I felt like I was in a Monty Python sketch. I repeated my order. Again, he refers me to a third junior associate (Manny, Moe, and Jack)? Finally, a young associate asked me for toppings. I had noticed two lettuce bins. One bin looked fine. The other looked a little brown. I decided to skip the lettuce rather than ask him to pick from the left hand bin and embarrass them. I also saw a black speck in the onion bin. It probably was nothing but I decided to skip onions just to be safe. I chose tomatoes, Swiss cheese, pickles and sweet peppers. The debit card reader asks if I want to tip. I skipped that. Price was reasonable. Hoagie was okay. The roll was soggy. Philly hoagie shops pride themselves on their rolls. I understand this is Florida, not Philly. I can appreciate this place is popular and busy. However, being asked for my order 3 times by the same experienced worker there left me feeling less than special as a customer.
