The food is standard MckeyD's; it is what you would expect at any McDonald's. However, this place is ran by jerky kids and young adults. Some days you go in and they are on their phones or messing around. Customer service suxx. So, I go up and try to get a happy meal toy for my kid. They gave me an alternative cause they ran out of the promotional item listed. It happens, stores will run out. So, later in the day, I head back and try to exchange for the advertised toy. The kid behind the counte rudely says, naw ... we are not exchanging any more. New ownership and they are not exchanging it. I asked ... how come? He walks away. I stand there for like 5 mins waiting; made eye contact and he was like ... nothing ... and then he asked-- you buying something? I told him ...it is really not a big deal to switch out the toy. The funniest thing was like there was no one in line for anything. I told him they need to put up a sign saying we are not exchanging toys. It is for the kids man. I get that there are collectors out there hoarding the toys. Be rude to those guys. But it is for a kid ... anyways we went to another place and they were kind enough to do it. The most beautifully decorated McDs around for the holidays. Balloon Grinch Christmas tree and more. Went in to try the McRib... its a once in a lifetime type of thing. I was very pleasantly surprised with the holiday decorations here. Somebody really went above and beyond. I've been to other locations and none other stand a chance in the award for most spirited McDs. I was very impressed - so were the children - people would do photos with the Grinch - I think that is better than with Santa. My McRib is what you would expect from McDs. It isn't exactly gourmet and it won't win any Michelin Stars but I liked it. It was yuuuge!! I would have rather had the Grinch meal but those are long sold out. Grinch cups are festive - and they have those at all locations. Speedy delivery of food and I ordered at the kiosk. It is all really fast service - so much better than the other one I frequent in Dublin when I'm gettin wheel and tire work done next door at Big O. I love the Grinch. I have my own little Grinch stuff toy that my cat tries to steal from me. I yell at him and finally found it was best to just hide it in the car. Today wasn't a good time to eat here. There was hardly anyone in here today when we first arrived. We ordered "FRESH" meaning not sitting around waiting. Hubby's 1/4lb was lukewarm. My filet sandwich was specifically ordered "FRESH" When we received our orders our fries were cold!! I returned them for fresh ones! My filet was definitely not made fresh! I didn't want to return it! It's time for a group huddle! We're paying higher prices today which is alright with us when we want a special treat! But... we expect perfection! We came to this McDonald's and my daughter ordered the Shamrock Milkshake and added chocolate syrup. She didn't like the taste of it, so I decided to bring it to the counter asking the employee if we could just exchange it for a Vanilla instead. She talked to the manager and she just looked over and me then told her "We had to pay for another one" I even asked for a smaller size and the employee still refused saying I had to buy another one. This McDonald's location is right off the freeway - they are always fixing the surrounding streets, so traffic may get backed up. Plenty of parking in their lot. Overall - 3.5 stars, I bumped it up to a 4 stars because lately all their other locations I have been going to have been either messing up my order or just horrible / unprofessional service and this one seems to be better compared to the rest in the area. This review is just based on my last couple of experiences only. I have been coming here for my late night dinner when I am craving chicken nuggets, fries, and sweet tea on some days when I completely skipped dinner. The last couple of visits have been pretty smooth - I ordered in the drive-thru and got my food in a timely manner, and of course my order has been correct and tasted fresh as well (not soggy when it comes to the chicken nuggets and fries). Located off the 580 freeway next to Golfland, there is plenty of parking in their lot and two drive thru lanes. When you walk in, you have restrooms to the right and on the left there are plenty of indoor table and booth seating available. The restaurant is generally clean with modern decor from their last remodel. Great for having a quiet meal or coming with friends and family. There's also a play area for the kiddos! When you're ready to place an order, you have the option to use the electronic kiosks or order up at the counter. It's still hard to accept fast food restaurants restrict the amount of sauce packets you can have. If you order a 20 piece chicken nugget, you can select 3 sauces. Any additional sauces will require a small fee. With only a few customers ahead of me, it took about 15 minutes to receive my to-go order. Not as fast as I would have liked, but something to keep in mind if you're looking for quick service. Overall, the quality of service has declined as the staff wasn't very friendly and after using the restroom, one employee did not wash their hands. On the bright side, what keeps me visiting McDonald's has been their McDonald's app. The app offers discounts on certain menu items and some freebies from time to time like free fry-days on Friday with a purchase of at least $1. In today's world, nothing is just a $1 and McDonald's doesn't have a dollar menu, but if you're in the mood for something quick and you're a sucker for their fries, I recommend this! read more

Went thru the drive-thru this morning at 5am. Ordered the new spicy sausage egg McMuffin. Got to the window and paid, to the same guy who took my order KS#13. Go to the next window to get my food and I check it before pulling away (had a feeling). Was given a regular egg McMuffin, told this guy and he comes back and says they are out of the spicy. It's frickin sauce! So he gets regular sausage & egg McMuffin for me. So now I've been charged extra for a regular. SMH. 1 star for the second guy. This location has a really good play place, food is good, and the staff is always kind to us. Today, my son dropped his sausage Mc griddle on the floor, and the manager made him a new one without charging us. I felt the need to review the place and saw the negative reviews. I don't think they are necessarily accurate. Sure, it's fast food and sometimes you get employees that probably are not the best. I've been to this McDonald's in the past but went the other day and I ordered two value meals and a McFlurry. They crammed the two meals in a small bag (usually they'll use separate bags per meal) and the quarter pounder with cheese was sideways, they didn't give me my McFlurry, which was almost $6 and no receipt. But their service was pretty decent, because they did make a new batch of fries when we showed them the soggy fries. They're pretty nice. I think it's time for a Yelp review. We've been to this location a number of times. Today, we ended up making a stop before heading home. We've had issues where employees were unsure what they were doing. Today, proved it even more. My husband ordered a #1 the Big Mac meal. I ordered the crispy chicken to try (4a). Ordered chicken nuggets and fries for the kids. Window number 1. Couldn't repeat our order. She responded with, "You got a Big Mac?" Husband: uh, yes, and other items. Window 1: yeah, I know. Window 2: (hands us 2 bags) then says, how many bags are you supposed to have? Husband: I don't know, wouldn't you tell me? Window 2: checks inside and hands a drink container and another bag. Here comes the hand on palm, funny part. We start to eat dinner. My husband opens up his Big Mac box. There's no or barely any Big Mac sauce, one small pickle, buns are upside down. The young woman taking the cash was so unprofessional. In addition to not greeting us, she completely ignored us being at the window, picking the gunk out of her eyelash extensions, talking to a coworker, and then flipped off playfully and cussed at them. The only time she looked at me was to take my money. And she exchanged no pleasantries - no thank you, no hello or goodbye. Just completely ignored us except to flatly say, "Here's your change". Whatever. I could even look past that if that's all that happened. But no, it took them TWENTY minutes to make and bring out our coffee. What part of that is fast food? I have gone to the one near Trader Joe's in Castro and they always nice service , hot meal and give you a smile. I come to this location is because closer to me at work and enter and exiting freeway. Twice they forgot my sauce for my nuggets and the right side drive through does not work or they pretending not to work. This is the McDonalds (McDs) near the I-580 freeway in Castro Valley. I've been coming here occasionally for the last few years. Not for me, but for someone in a hospital. I like helping people, and this person sometimes asks for a Big Mac and fries. He says it's a craving for something else besides hospital food. Something we take for granted, is like a gift to someone stuck in a hospital bed. Anyway, this is the nearest McDs. Of course you want fresh and hot food right? The problem is.....service times. I have tried both lobby and drive-thru, and the service times are terrible. One time I was in the drive-thru for 20 mins ! I'm guessing someone ordered the entire menu board. You know, there's a kitchen in your house, maybe try using it. Then they must be cooking to order, because it's just hurry up and wait in the lobby.
