Me reviewing a McDonald's? Have I finally reached the nadir of my long, undistinguished "career" as a Yelp reviewer?!? Have I lost what little of my mind still remains? Being unceremoniously tossed from the rarified heights of "Yelp Elite Status" was a painful, mortifying indignity, but now I'm reduced to reviewing one of thousands of fast-food hamburger places that have very little to differentiate or distinguish one from the other? Reviewing a diner is one thing, even reviewing a cemetery is at least...well, different, but...MCDONALD'S!?!? (In fairness to myself, I did review a Dunkin Donuts when I still had that exalted "Yelp Elite" status, and reviewing a Dunkin Donuts has to be as egregious as reviewing a McDonald's. Only thing more egregious would be reviewing a Domino's Pizza, and...so far...I haven't degenerated to that humiliating level!) Truth is, I was never a fan of any McDonald's...ever...not even as an adolescent gorging myself on every crappy "fast food" available. As a teen, I endured 4 or so miserable months as a McDonald's employee. Did I have worse jobs than that? Maybe (cleaning toilets at AT&T...also as a teen...comes immediately to mind), but I'd be hard pressed to try and recall which ones were worse. Or paid less. In subsequent years, if I happened to be starving and nothing else was available (I'm thinking of when I used to ride up I-95 to Rhode Island a lot, and there was a McDonald's in virtually every rest stop), I'd buy a Big Mac, fries, and a black coffee, but I never developed a fondness for this greasy repast of empty calories. (The Big Mac Burgers were always a lot smaller than they appeared in the advertisements, and the "Secret Sauce" appeared to be nothing more than globs of hastily applied Russian salad dressing.) Truth is, I haven't had McDonald's food in many, many years (by the time "Super Size Me" was released to theatres in 2004, I had already long ago given up McDonald's food; by the way, if you never saw the movie, you should). So...what exactly am I going to review? Well, several years ago, I worked in the area (not cleaning toilets), and driving in on those bleak, fuzzy mornings when I was faced with the prospect of 8 hours of stressful tedium (contradictory words? Yeah, but it's the best way to describe the overall vibe of that particular job), I'd often pull into the drive-in window to get a large black coffee. The people manning the window always moved along pretty fast (which was important, because I was always chronically running late for the job), and there was a young blonde woman...I believe she was the manager; she often pitched in to help the other scrambling employees, not afraid to "get her hands dirty," and she often served me the coffee. She was always friendly, always had a ready smile and a nice greeting, even when they seemed swamped. Recently, I had to venture to nearby St. Barnabas Hospital during the early morning hours, and after that ordeal, I was hungry. I don't know if I was feeling adventurous or foolhardy or had been stricken by what Poe referred to as "The Imp of the Perverse," but I decided to go inside and get something to eat. I had never been inside. Everything seemed clean, spotless. They had what I guess could best be described as "Self-Ordering Kiosks" set up in the front and I inwardly groaned. I'm not a fan of "Self-Check Out" counters in grocery stores, and I don't like to punch in my order to some machine. Thankfully, a pleasant young woman by the cash register asked if she could help me. I placed an order for a bagel with egg, bacon and cheese; hash browns; and a large black coffee. The price was very reasonable, which I hadn't been expecting. And service was fast. I didn't see the young blonde manager (hopefully she's moved on to better things) but there were a lot of people at work in the back, and they seemed to be performing their tasks efficiently if not necessarily with gusto and enthusiasm. My order was ready quickly, and I was able to get back on the road without any discernable delay. Was it great food? As I've said, I never, ever, thought it was. But it filled up that hollow spot in my stomach, and the caffeine in the coffee supplied some much needed energy. I don't know when I'll be back in the area again, but if I need that blast of caffeine...or maybe even some of those empty calories...I have no problem patronizing this place again. For a McDonald's, this one has always...at least in my experience...been a stand-out. Why not 5 stars? Because it's still McDonald's. But definitely one of the better ones. read more

It worked again. Stopped in for a quick lunch. The family was relatively happy. My son enjoyed the computer kiosks that I still don't understand. Employees here are pleasant as usual. Always have liked this area west of NYC. It's a more pleasant way of north than 95. It's a very clean establishment. That alone is what I'm looking for. All of our meals were served hot, and the new Grimace McFlurry gets high marks. If you're here parking is a cinch. We usually stop here every year. read more

It's definitely time for an updated review of this McDonald's especially when You take into consideration that They've been really solid throughout this entire Pandemic. I always see masks and gloves on the entire staff here and I gotta say that this restaurant is Alot cleaner than most of the other fast food places around.    Lately My orders have all been right-on-the money and the food here is totally way better than most other Mcd's. I noticed alot of other McRib pictures that some people have posted from other Mcd's and I gotta say that this place did up an excellent version and way better than I ever remembered that sandwich to be.   They feature very friendly service and their quality of food is way better than most here at the Florham Park McDonald's, Come And Get Your Munch On!! read more

So sorry to see this happen - it started out really well when I pulled up to drive thru and placed my order and paid for my food and then was told to park the car in the mobile order waiting areas and wait until someone brought me my food order OH NO and NO NO NO NO it is drive thru IF I had placed a mobile order I would expect to wait in mobile order area for my food When I /we/anyone goes to drive thru we want our foods handed to us right away and thru the car window Guess I will switch to Burger King for real drive thru service or Five Guys for when I feel like parking the car . I have my lunch there. I use the self order machine to order and I got the food fast. Staff are nice. The store are pretty clean.

I feel so bad leaving this review because the workers are really nice but OMG they are super slow! If you're in a rush to get to work in the morning, don't come here. There is almost always a line and it's as slow as molasses. The food is normally hot and good but the coffee is hit or miss. Be sure to check your bag before you leave because they sometimes mix up orders. I've noticed that sometimes there's a garden hose in their drive-thru window. I'm not really sure what that's about but its very weird. This McDonalds was recently renovated so everything is modern and brand new. I think if they were to add a few more team members to the staff, things would improve. read more

Surprisingly, there are not many McDonald's locations in this area (Morristown/Florham Park) so this one is my go-to. I think this location is popular for many people who work in the area. (Pre-covid) The lines would get quite long during lunch hours during the work week but it moves pretty efficiently. The food is consistent and reliable and what you'd expect from McDonald's - I enjoy it. I did stop by this location recently and it had been a while since my last visit (~10 months) and I did feel like the size of the food was smaller than I remember - I got the mcnuggets and they seemed thin. Quick, friendly service, and whenever they forget anything, they write your name down and you get a free one the next time! Pretty clean, and they Walking in at lunch is often faster than drive-thru, and no playground here for the kids. How can any McDonald's be this bad? Perhaps the employees are too busy goofing around IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS while preparing the food? Perhaps when they drop a batch of those tray "placemats" on the floor while they are hitting each other - the "manager" picks them up off the FLOOR and puts them back? Perhaps they forgot to put SALT on the fries, when their fries are normally just south of oversalted? If you eat Mcdonalds often, it's easy to distinguish that not all locations are run the same way. I stopped here for a lunch order and ordered two buttermilk ranch chicken sandwiches utilizing one of the deals found on their mobile app. Whether you're a frequent customer or go once in a while I highly recommend everybody downloads their app - the deals you can find on there can't be beat. I tend to use their $2 speciality sandwich promos or in this case a buy one large sandwich get one for $1 deal. Though this parking lot is super chaotic (it is in a strip mall with grocery stores such as Trader Joes) the service is fast and the overall drive thru people are smiling and happy to give you sauces. read more

I don't usually post up reviews on fast food. I try not to visit fast food chains unless I'm truly craving something. So today, I decided to hit up McDonalds because I wanted a sandwich. What I ultimately unwrapped at work got was a partial disappointment. I say partial because part of the sandwich is edible. They often are backed up and require you pull into their waiting lane. Service is friendly enough but the real audacity is what they charge. I admit I haven't been to a McDonalds in quite a while and I'm not sure if this is true accross the board, but I got a Quarter Pounder and it was the smallest burger I've ever seen, cooked until it was hard to tell if it was still meat, and about the size of a chocolate chip cookie. It's McDonalds. You don't go in expecting a culinary masterpiece. However, getting a hot burger and fries should not be difficult. I went in and ordered a quarter-pounder and large fries. I was waiting and was told the wait was for a new batch of fries to be ready. I say, no problem. I get my fries and take my food to eat. The "just cooked" fries were lukewarm at best. I went to this McDonald's this evening to get a quick snack. When I walked in I went to the counter because I do not like using the kiosk because I like to customize a lot of different options and it gets very confusing and frustrating. They were not busy at all there were no cars in the drive thru and only one or two people sitting down eating and no people on line at the counter. As soon as I got to the counter the employee (who may have been a manager) goes to me order at the Khios as she runs to the back before I can say I don't want to. Not wanting to deal with waiting for her to come back I attempted to try to use the kiosk with no success and decided I've had enough and walked out. This is an abysmally bad example of a McDonald's, and the problem revolves around indifferent management. Every time I visit this location, they get the order wrong, forget to bag items, are surely and uncommunicative. Getting the basics right shouldn't require customer intervention, trips back inside, arguing over receipts. I started my management career, nearly 30 years ago, as a manager of a high-volume McDonalds franchise location, so I actually know something about how to run a fast-food store. Every inexcusable mistake is being made at this location: not checking the order, management not spot-checking, not asking customers for condiments at the window, not being courteous (specifically the AM/shift-manager, who has clearly not been through any customer service training). Lastly, nobody takes ownership of anything, instead taking an "it happens" attitude! How is any of this acceptable to corporate and/or franchise management and ownership? This isn't the only location where I've experienced such issues (though it's certainly one of the worst). What can you say about a McDonald's. They're pretty much all the same. I have just a few observations about this location. If you go to the restaurant after 9 PM, use the drive-thru. If you go inside you'll find that priority is given to the drive-thru and you'll wait a long time. For some reason items that are on the dollar menu at other restaurants such as a double-cheeseburger or 2 hash-browns aren't discounted at this restaurant. Today I visited Store#:11841 Address: 176 Columbia TPKE Florham Park, NJ 07932 I ordered (2) McChicken sandwiches with cheese, a mango smoothy and a small fry. This is a pretty easy order to get and bag...(so I'm thinking).... Needless to say... I pay with my card and the card was given back and I drive to the 2nd window to pick up my order... this is where things get completely out of hand. The fella who is giving the order at the window clearly says, "Did you have the fish fillet order"... I tell him, "No" and told him what my order was, (making this the 2nd time placing my order in), he says that will be 3.54 and you have a 5.00 balance. So intelligently thinking my card must have had a little bit of money on it, and its no problem I paid the balance in cash $5.00. Here where it gets interesting, a manger with a heavy Russian accent jumps in and I explained what just happened. She goes to the fella taking the order and the money and comes back with a full of crap excuse that the card transaction was delayed and that's why it was only said I have that amt and why I have a balance. Quite frankly I didn't need to know that... Already you can see they are allon different pages and completely unorganized, just run an orderly shift...(she is a manager) wearing a managers uniform. So I get my order and start my way back to my office. I get all the way back to work ... I open up my lunch bag to find my small fries missing... So once again I call the number on the receipt and get a manager or someone who claims she is a manager (Jenny) ... I explain the situation to Jenny and she told me to come in Sunday 6/11/16 to refund my money since I had such a problem and to ask for her. I get a phone call from the manager that addressed me at the window, and what a joke really... She reads back the call message I left regarding my issue and it was 100% wrong I never said I was over charged or anything like it. I had to once again get it into perspective for her, what the issue was and what Jenny and I discussed. The manager got combative with me and started to argue on the phone... at this point in time I needed to professionally put this person into place and not only have to put her into place, but advise that her job is not a hard job at all... Mc Donald's is a very easy job if you paid an ounce of attention, its not hard to listen read and bag the items ordered... its really as simple as that, not the case with this location... not the case with the managers either. The managers are not on the same page nor they are aware that mistakes or adherence to the front line orders and money transactions are being addressed in the proper fashion. The manager with the Russian accent seems to know how to get combative and loud than resolve an issue as minor that this. I say this, instead of these knuckleheads demanding 15.00 an hour... I hope to GOD they automate everything that way there is no mistake only but yours when information is entered in to get the order done efficiently. Get Rid of the workers and replace them with automation... I bet this review board will show more positive blogs... The nerve to ask for 15.00 to get it wrong anyways and the managers have their heads shoved so far up their butts its shameful. read more

Now I'm a regular of McDonalds, different locations, but this one here... no no no. The customer service, especially in the morning, was non existent. Don't know if the lady was a manager (wearing a grey shirt and glasses with brownish hair), but her attitude was showing. When I told her what I would like, she said I cant hear you, but the other cashier (wearing the pink shirt and had braids) next to her, clearly heard me. So I repeated my order. When she yelled out my order, I came over to get the bag, she plopped the bag right on the counter. No, have nice day, NOTHING!! My mother asked if we could sit and eat but I said no, I'd rather sit in the car and eat. In other words, the customer service at this McDonalds location is off!
