First time ordering the Jr. Sando Combo which is much smaller than the Chicken Sando that I normally order. This equates to a smaller chicken versus breading/seasoning ratio. Not as appetizing. I lowered my rating today because of the waffle fries which were not good. They looked and tasted super greasy as if they were old and refried. Not appetizing at all. Customers know the difference! The facility and rest room however remains pretty clean (although the trash bins in the front needed emptying). I will still go back but will wait a bit longer to miss the food. Not sure how this place has high reviews - maybe just for the chicken sandwiches? I tried the Korea style chicken wings and a side of rice. Rice was not really sticky rice - it was dried out and tasted fake. The wings were SO odd. The outside was somewhat crispy and the flavor of the soy garlic was nice...but the chicken itself was gummy. After you bite the skin off, if you were to touch the chicken it almost felt gelatinous. Really great food! Ever since I saw this open I was super excited to check this place out and it's never disappointed. I've had at least 4 different items and each were fantastic. The chicken in any form is Crispy, juicy and the seasoning is amazing. My personal favorite has been with the waffle which tastes like a funnel cake and takes me back to carnival days as a kid. I can say from my first visit it's a gem and worth another visit. The menu is uncluttered and focused on chicken there are several levels of hot with the top spot requiring a waiver. I tried the very hot, one level below the waiver and it was hot but certainly manageable and overall tasty too! The full size sandwich is huge. The chicken is twice the size of the bun. It was crispy tasty warm and super tender. They must be brining their chicken breast because it's huge and juicy! The slaw and pickles are a perfect compliment to the heat and hangry sauce. I tried the waffle fries and they are outstanding!!! They have a bunch of bubble teas but I didn't try one. If you grab a combo you may not be able to finish it and have a bubble tea too. Clean. Friendly staff. Staff knew menu and were helpful describing choices to a new customer. Prices were inline to slightly above other similar fast food. Food did not disappoint. It was fresh. I went with the hot heat level because they warn customers it's definitely gonna be hotter than expected and glad I did because it was just the right amount of flavorful spice for Yours Truly. Plus there's a waiver they make you sign if you go any hotter than hot. I found the huge Meat portion to be Juicy and Delicious especially paired with their Hangry Sauce, Pickles, and Cider Slaw served up nice on that fluffy but firm Brioche Bun. When I saw Hangry Joe's hot chicken, my initial thoughts were oh great., another chicken place close to home that are just like the rest that are popping up all over the place and was putting of the visit. After stopping in for lunch, I regret not stop5in earlier. Located in Florham Park, I found parking a breeze in the strip mall and arrived a bit after the lunch rush and did not encounter any lines. Normally I prefer ordering from a human, but being that I was not familiar with the menu, opted to place my order from the kiosk and placed my order for my Chicken Sando Combo (priced at $13.95, I thought it was a good value when you compare similar restaurants.) Despite the name Of hot chicken, don't think all the food is spicy hot. When placing the order, you can choose the spice level from no spice to Angry Hot, which apparently requires a waiver. I opted for the hot, one step below Angry Hot, and the kiosk prompted me with a warning, which I gladly accepted the challenge. Unlike fast food places when you place your order and the chicken sandwhich comes right out, there was a minimal wait which usually means I'm getting a freshly prepared sandwich. I was standing around waiting for my food when my meal was delivered to me, which added a nice touch vs. someone just calling for me to pick up my food. To date, taking everything into consideration (value, taste, service, overall dining experience) Hangry Joe's climblist. the top of my list. I had option to have sandwhich cut and you can see why this sandwhich tops my list. The chicken piece huge and very tasty, the did not skimp on the coleslaw, the spice level was awesome, the roll was tasty, and it was a great sandwhich overall. Waffle fries the came with combo was also served hot and fresh. While I've loved other places with similar Menus and have given a 5 star rating, Hangry Joe's gets a 5+ star rating when comparing others in the same category. The restuarnt was clean with ample seating and had a steady flow of customers. This place is great in that I can get my hot food fix and bring guests who are not in to hot food and we will all leave satisfied. Saw this place on @northjerseyeats's Instagram and figured it was worth a try. I ordered on the one kiosk which was user friendly, but there was an issue with the chip reader that took a couple minutes to resolve. After making a successful order, I was told that I could sit down and the food would be brought to me. After a few minutes, I was handed my order and was impressed with the portion. $17 for a combo meal felt like a lot of first, but it's justified. I went with medium heat for the sauce and opted for no slaw on the sandwich. A friend who ordered with slaw had A LOT on his sandwich and had to take a lot off. I figured the medium heat would be pretty spicy, but it was very manageable. I was surprised by this since it was only two spice levels away from "Angry Hot" which requires a waiver. I assume there is a big jump in spice between the options. Would go for hot next time. The waffle fries and hangry sauce were amazing. Perfectly fried and the sauce tasted like a sriracha mayo with a hint of mustard. Akin to the Outback Bloomin' Onion sauce. The sauce was also dashed on the sandwich, but you barely tasted it (which was nice). The chicken was amazing. Perhaps the juiciest chicken I've ever had on a chicken sandwich. On my first bite, I almost made a mess just from the amount if juices that flowed out. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I would definitely come back, but it is a bit of a trek from where I live. I can't say that this is a place that I'd consistently make a trip for. The atmosphere and ambiance was no different than a fastfood joint. The food was great, but it isn't a destination spot. 3.5 stars - this place is good but not better than local chicken places. We ordered the chicken sandwich, chicken fingers, korean chicken nuggets, and waffle fries. My favorite part of the meal was the waffle fries which were on par with pretty much any restaurant that serves waffle fries. If spicy hot is truly what you're looking for, this place is a fine option. The sandwich and chicken fingers were spicy hot and that is the only memorable thing for me. I would not recommend the korean chicken nuggets - they were drenched in a really odd tasting gravy. None of the chicken was particularly crispy, and the korean chicken nuggets were actually soggy. Took a risk on this place for lunch one day at work and good lord have mercy, y'all. Went with a chicken sando; the heat goes from unseasoned all the way to angry hot, of which you need a waiver to order apparently. As a spice lover (but not enthusiast, per se), I opted for the medium; I wanted a good, spicy flavor but not painful. And boyyyy did they deliver. The chicken is literally a brioche bun on two giant cutlets; the chicken was easy double the size of the bun. The medium was heavily spicy (my eyebrows were sweating) but SO flavorful and delicious. I would compare the heat to your average generic hot wings. The fries were crisp but not especially salty, and probably would be best with some ketchup (personally speaking). I would probably BLEEP myself if they sold milkshakes, but they have an interesting selection of beverages, smoothies, slushes, and more (I got a Snapple; snooze, I know).
