This review is specifically for the "Hot Apple Pie". Priced at about $2.50, served hot but the cinnamon over powder this little fried pie. The crusty shell was delicious and it didn't really flake too much. Service was super slow at 3:30p on a Sunday. Their soda machine wasn't working. Drive-thru takes too long. At least 12 minutes for my last two visits, with not many people in line (3 max). Last visit, when I got to the food window, there was an overwhelming stench of garbage when I rolled my window down and the pickup window slid open. IDK if it was from inside or outside, but it was horrible! The lady in front of me thankfully pulled away and checked her order, and discovered they had forgotten part of her order. When she walked back up to the service window and explained, the woman at the window just chuckled and said, "haha oh yeah, here it is". No apology or anything. Really rude. They have a captive audience, being only one of two fast food joints for many miles along the 168 corridor to/from OBX. And it shows that they couldn't possibly care less. I came to this McDonald expecting to get a sausage egg and cheese McGriddle but left with a Sausage McGriddle. No egg. No cheese. Who's gonna be held accountable? While we were eating the manager was meeting with many employees about benefits & opportunities. Seemed to be friendly exchange between employees & manager. I stopped in here on the way back from a fishing trip down in Hatteras recently. It was more or less a restroom stop-off; however we realized we had skipped breakfast that morning while we were packing up from the fishing trip. My friend and I walked in the door and I ran into an old friend out of the blue that I hadn't seen in over a decade. He and his wife were headed south while were were headed back north. After a quick conversation and a promise to catch up soon, we ordered lunch. We filled up our drinks and waited for lunch to arrive. I don't think we waited more than 5-6 minutes and we were presented with two hot and fresh Quarter Pounder's with Cheese and Large Fries. The food was excellent, the service was fast, and the employee we talked to at the register was friendly and got our orders right. No issues at all. Just like it's supposed to be. HORRIBLE! Waited in the drive thru for over 40 min. We would have left but were stuck with cars in front and behind and the curb next to us where you order. After ordering we sat another 10 or 15 waiting for our food. Of course they would give us cold fries. So we politely asked for hot fries. They acted annoyed and told us to pull up. I mean who in their right mind wants hot food after waiting forever. I proceed to look in the bag and see there is no sauce for our nuggets. Why ask what kind of sauce we want and not give us any. This must be a corporate thing because it has happened at multiple locations! Also why does every Mc Donald's assume we all want BBQ sauce when they ask what kind of sauce we want? Always thought that was weird! My wife decided to go in to speed it up. Well many minutes later she came out with sauce and hot fries! She said the lady in there was yelling that the customers were going to have to wait that they just have to wait! They were only taking one order at a time! Another gentleman inside was waiting for a longtime he was 78 that is what he told my wife. He was trying to order but no one would help him he said he was paying with cash and didn't know how use the kiosk. My wife tried to help but he was determined that after waiting so long an employee was going to come take his order. The guy is probably wasting away in there and has yet to get his order taken. This McDonald's was rated low and it had me worried stopping here on a trip. DO. NOT. VISIT. THIS. MCDONALDS. We stopped at this McDonalds on the way home from OBX and wish we never would have! We didn't even have the opportunity to eat the food but we knew after 35 MINUTES waiting in the drive-thru lane that it wasn't going to be okay. We drove up, saw a line in the drive-thru and found it normal (because with our local McDonalds back home, the establishment is efficient). After 15 minutes sitting in the exact same spot, we felt something was wrong. Now, 25 minutes later, the vehicle in front of us had their passengers go through two cigarettes worth in the time we were waiting. That's ridiculous. We were so far backed up that we were able to even back out of the lane without making other customers back up for us. We even had a customer walk by us and ask why we were backing up. We told them that we had been waiting for over HALF AN HOUR in the drive-thru lane. They turned right around, hopped in their vehicle, and left too. We went about 15 miles away to another McDonalds for a quick morning bite to eat, waited about 1 minute in the drive-thru, picked up our food, and happily ate it on the ride back home. read more

I feel as though every time I come here there is an issue weather it be missing sauces, wrong sizes, or just a completely wrong order. Today I went through the drive threw which took forever might I add, ordered just nuggets with bbq sauce and a Carmel frappe. Let me just start with they forgot my sauce, and my frappe is in the complete wrong cup (frappe cups have a bubble top and soda cups have a flat top) AND it's the wrong size being a small instead of medium. This isn't the end of it course I went in and tried to get my bbq and fix my frappe I ended up waiting so long for someone to even come up to the front which had a line of customers just waiting to fix orders and pay from the machine. I ended up having to yell into the back asking for just bbq sauce and a few other people behind me ended up yelling with me saying they needed a few items (drinks, and apple slices, and another man just wanted to pay) once they responded to me they were very rude and disrespectful! Waited at the drive thru for five minutes before opening my car window to ask the guy in front of me if anyone had said anything to him yet. When he said no, I backed out of the drive thru and tried to go inside. The doors were locked! It was 9am on a Monday. I jiggled the door and a manager let me in. None of the registers were open! A young guy finally opened his register and rang up my order. I gave him my money. He counted it out, put it in the register and walked back to the food station. He still owed me change! When I called him back he sarcastically told me that he would give me the penny he owed me and a few more too. I was shocked. This Mcdonalds needs a new staff and better training. Today (11/1/19) I visited the McDonald's in Grandy, NC around 6:30 pm. Being that I was on my way home I elected to use the drive-thru. When I pulled up there was another vehicle ahead of me and after a short while it was my turn to place and order. The young man working the drive-thru was very polite and told me to please wait before he took my order which I was fine with. After a short wait he took my order (2 double cheeseburgers and a medium Dr. Pepper). I then drove to the window where I was greeted by the same young man who took my order; he gave me my drink and I paid for my order. As he was handing back my card he informed me that my order would take a little longer because they were still in the process of cooking one of my burgers. Having worked in the food service industry in high school and into college I understood that from time to time this does happen so I patiently waited. After about 5 mins my food was brought to me by someone, who by her light green jacket, I assumed was the supervisor/manager on shift. When I left the parking lot I unwrapped the first burger and ate it while I headed home, all was good. Several miles down the road I unwrapped the 2nd burger and bit into it, I immediately spit it back out. I turned on the dome light and much to my surprise I found a double cheeseburger that instead of the usual ketchup, onions and pickle, I found smothered in mayonnaise.....to the point that it was dripping out of the bun. Now as I previously mentioned I worked in the food industry (a fast food restaurant at that) so I better than most of the world understand how easy it is to screw up a special order or miss a topping all together especially during a lunch or dinner rush however this was not the case, there were very few patrons in the parking lot or inside the store; not to mention that to my knowledge McDonald's doesn't even put mayonnaise on their burgers unless you specifically ask for it and I most certainly did not (as seen on receipt, no changes to the burgers). This was not an accident by any means. Something that isn't regularly put on an item you as a cook have most likely made literally hundreds of times doesn't just "happen" to be used as a condiment, especially not in the quantity it was nor when none of the "regular" condiments were used. This was also made apparent by the way the items were placed in the bag and that the "screw you for making me cook a couple more patties" burger was hidden at the bottom so it wouldn't be found until later. Logic would dictate that the burger that was completed first would be at the bottom of the bag because it was the first made available to the employee bagging the order. So I told my girlfriend who lives right down the road and I know to eat there as well of what had happened and she informed me that lately service there has slipped but had never heard of anything like that happening before. While hopefully this was an isolated incident I fear that it was most likely not. I know that this will not happen to me again because I will not eat there again. This McDonald's on MULTIPLE occasions has had mold issues on their food and have served it out to customers even after noticing it themselves, it's not hard to miss. Popped in for breakfast on way to Chesapeake. Drive thru was fast, hot food got a hello and have a nice day from cashier. Fir a fast food place you can't ask for much more. Got here on a road trip home from obx for breakfast at 10:50am, breakfast ends at 11am. We pulled up to the window at 10:55 and the manager wouldn't let us order, said it would take 5-8 min for breakfast, then changed his mind and said we couldn't have it at all. This is the grossest McDonald's I've ever visited. I seriously thought McDonald's had some type of sanitary standards but obviously not. I'm not a picky person either, especially when it comes to chain restaurants. It was noon so I get that too. But this was some next level nasty. The restrooms were over flowing with garbage. Seats looked like a truck stop. The garbage in the restaurant weren't any better. Literally overflowing. We took the food but I was pretty nervous about eating it because the floors in the kitchen were caked with oil. Workers were slipping all over the place. I'll post an update later if we get food poisoning from this place. Fingers crossed the hot oil killed any bacteria that's in this food. Seriously. We went into McDonalds Grandy NC 23 July 2021. Ordered 2 quarter pounders with cheese and fries. One of the sandwiches came without meat in it. We went to the counter to remedy and were told they would make us another. We waited and waited. My wife complained and a very snotty worker said the order is in and it would be ready when it's ready. By the time she got it her fries were cold. Never going back. read more

The people are friendly. But the service is sooooo slow. All of the time. I live here and have given them multiple opportunities. When they first opened, they were pretty quick. Now, if there are more than two cars there, it takes 20 minutes. The breakfast food is fine, the burgers are fine, but they cannot seem to make fries anymore. The last 10 times I have gone, the fries are various states of stale. We have complained numerous times, but all we get are less stale fries as a replacement. This is the only McDonalds I have ever been to that cannot make fries. read more

The service was fast and our order was ready fast and was hot as we sat down to eat. The food was the usual McDonald's fare that we expect when we stop here. This place is ridiculous. After over 30 minutes of waiting we finally got our food and they screwed the order up. This McDonalds is a few miles from our house. Every now and then we like to get an ice cream cone. At least 50% of the time that we stop here, their machine is either not working or down for cleaning. It doesn't matter the time or day of the week. Giving up and going to Sonic across the street!
