This is probably my least favorite McDonald's in the area. The employees are polite and friendly, the food is average - pretty much what you expect from McDonald's, but the traffic pattern and the wait time at the drive thru is what keeps me from giving them more stars. The traffic pattern is just really weird and kind of tight to maneuver. McDonald's shares a lane with CVS, and to get to the McD's drive thu, you have to momentarily pretend you are in the UK and drive on the left side of the road. The drive thru line also blocks access to several of the parking spaces, so you might want to think about how you are going to make your exit before parking here. The drive thru line is almost always 5+ vehicles long, and this is the only McDonald's where I'm frequently asked to pull over and wait while my order is prepared. Often it takes upwards of 7-10 minutes for it to come out, so what was intended to be a quick stop to grad a bit of food often turns into an ordeal. Lastly, leaving the drive thru area is also tough, as often people who are sitting in line waiting to place their drive thru orders are backed up so far that you can't exit. It actually might be faster to go to another location given the traffic flow and the wait time here. read more

Ordered a spicy deluxe chicken sandwich and they gave me a regular chicken sandwich. I asked for sweet and sour and they gave me hot mustard and got annoyed when i asked for sweet and sour instead. Not sure where to begin. First off I waited 20 mins in line just to place the order, which was wrong. I could hear the employee lose it because the computer systems went down. He put the order in wrong. Then was waiting another 20 minutes. Then I could an employee in the parking lot on his phone for 20 minutes at 915 in the morning. Before that a saw a customer walk out the front door frustrated with no food in her hand. Hmm wonder why. Their is new employees every other day. Is there a manger attached to this operation? I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on a biscuit there this week. I order this weekly. This time the product was atrocious. The sausage, which is normally grilled, this time, appeared to simply be microwaved. It thew off both the texture and taste of the entire sandwich and it was awful. I called and reported the problem. Been here a few times the last few years and nothing changed! Main thing is the drive thru must hold the record for being the slowest one in a hundred mile radius. Nothing is more disappointing the waiting over a half hour for them to have the order wrong. Then wait for another 5 minutes for them to correct. Got home to find out that the food must have been made 4hrs earlier. The McChicken sandwiches were severely overdone or reheated several times. So you actually do need to pay attention to your job, even if you would rather be on you phone. Spent a while in the drive though and when we pulled up, the staff was discussing something that they had taken a video of on their phone. We had ordered two double hamburgers without pickles. You got one correct (good job at 50%) while the other had both cheese and pickles. Didn't realize this error until we had already driven off. This was an incredibly careless mistake. You see, the person that was to consume them has a dairy allergy. Do you really want to be responsible for an allergic reaction? Every time I go to this McDonalds I have an issue... Yesterday I ordered A 10 piece nugget meal and a boys happy meal and instead I got an eight piece nugget meal-literally it was missing two nuggets and one of the 8 looked like it was bitten. My sons happy meal which I ordered plain came with everything and then I ended up paying for a cheeseburger plain so they overcharged me because the cheeseburger plain was supposed to be in the happy meal. I also forgot to order a soda and I was told I had to get back in like again- but this time I refused and wouldn't you know they were able to add a soda to my meal!!!! This McDonalds has a bad reputation. Everyone I know has had a bad encounter here and the majority of the issues were with the staff. You know if you're doing a yelp review on a McDonald's it's got to be a disaster. Well, this location has been a disaster for 2018. Being a resident I've gone here many times over the years but this year has been a complete joke. Too many options in smithfield to continue to go here. Bottom line, the drive thru is a complete cluster from order taking to order giving. If you aren't saying "#x with a coke" it is NOT going to be correct, despite when they read it back to you at the order microphone (and correcting them) and then get it wrong at the pay window. Get to the second window, They are either spilling your drink, giving you 2 out of the 3 items you ordered or asking you to pull over to get it to you. Insider tip: they won't come to you til you wait 5-10 minutes and then see you in the restaurant and it magically appears. Teenagers are working here and the manager is barely 20. This McDonald's is near the intersection of Routes 44 and 5. It's oddly located behind/next to a large shopping center (I wouldn't go so far as to call it a 'mall,' lol) and a CVS, I believe. I have always found their parking lot difficult to navigate. I was starving when I stopped by around 2 p.m. this past Friday; a sign advertising two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches for $4 drew me in. My first impression, when I used the men's bathroom, was that they should change the toilet seat. This location has been around for quite some time, and has been updated to try to evoke a more upscale, intimate cafe theme. Instead of a big, open dining room, there are many dividers throughout. Personally, I don't care for the decor of this particular McDonald's, especially the iridescent mosaic tiles. But then again, McD's isn't fine dining, and I was getting this to go anyway. I did read the other reviews describing rude service at this location, but the person who took my order was polite. It was moderately busy still, but the restaurant seemed adequately staffed, and the staff was all business. Perhaps the fact that an upper-level (in other words, older than 30) manager was on duty, in a shirt and tie, working right in the thick of things, accounted for things running smoothly. The wait time was reasonable, as the manager (who bore a slight resemblance to David Bowie in face, hair and stature) handed me my bag. The first thing I noticed after I got in my work truck and opened up my bag, was there were no napkins (apparently the manager didn't do a quality check). Filet-O-Fish sandwiches can be sloppy with the tartar sauce if eating while driving. Now, the quality of a Filet-O-Fish can vary greatly, in direct proportion to how fresh the sandwich is. Since I didn't receive my sandwiches too quickly, I was hopeful mine were fresh out of the fryolator. Alas, they were not fresh, although they were not the worst I've had either. I have been to this Mcdonalds a handful of times and each time had a different experience. In the past it was a nightmare with slow workers cold food and long lines but after going today it wasn't as bad. So, with it being St. Patricks day and all I wanted a Shamrock shake since I had never had one before...and if you know me then you know I am a frozen drink fanatic! Went through the drive thru and it was overall pretty fast and the shake was mixed perfectly and it was delicious! I went to this restaurant after rush hour so i guess the fries were sitting under lites for awhile. My fish sandwich was piping hot because it was cooked when ordered. This place is awful. I went in the drive through and asked for 2 ten piece Large nugget meals, one spicy, one not. The guy was so confused. Made on a meal one just a regular 10 piece. I said they're both meals. After he finally got that right he asked what sauce. I was asking the person i was with what sauce they wanted, and not even a second later, the guy screams "WHAT SAUCE" . I said ranch and sweet and sour. I go to get my food, and being in a rush I didn't check the bag. The drinks were a medium, one fry was large the other medium, both nuggets were regular not spicy, and I didn't receive ranch. As I was in line the car behind me got into a argument with the employee. I saw the manager come to the window and start screaming at the car, hands waving in the air. Whatever that was about I agree with the customer because the employees here are beyond rude, and don't care at all about their customers. After I got home and checked the bag and saw I didn't receive my spicy nuggets I went back. I went inside and there was a lady in front of me and they totally messed up her order as well.
