Stayed the night in Hawthorne 4 days ago on our way to Oregon. About 3:00 in the afternoon the day we arrived, and decided to get a burger. While we waited for our order, we overheard the manager telling people that they didn't have any large cups, so they were substituting medium and small cups instead. So the poor wan in front of us got two medium and one small cup instead of two large cups. Interesting solution. Then, the most unforgivable thing you can ever say to a customer: "I'm sorry sir, but we're out of ketchup packets". The guy went ballistic. As it turns out, they had ketchup, but it was in squirt bottles and only being used for the burgers, not to give to customers for their fries. The customer stormed out screaming that he was going to Safeway to buy ketchup. I wondered why the manager didn't send someone to the Safeway and buy ketchup, but perhaps that required too much common sense than he posessed. Bottom line: we got our burger, which was over done, and fries, and, out of humiliation, the manager squirted some ketchup into a small plastic container. Wow, we really scored. On the way out, I read a sign on the wall with a picture of the female franchisee. It said, "Did we put a smile on your face today?" Then it listed her phone number. I didn't call that number, but if she's reading this review, I would simply say, "You need to get your backside down to your restaurant and start showing some management skills." Stopped in on the way to Reno. We were very hungry but wanted to get back on the road. Seemed like the perfect thing, well until I ordered anyway. I ordered 2 big mac, 2 filet of fish 2 small fries, 1 coffee. I nearly fell over dead from shock when the bill came to $34 and something like 80 cents. Basically $35 for lousy fast food. I looked at the menu a bit closer to find that the Big Macs were pennies shy of $10 each. What a rip-off!! McDonald's published menu price for a big mac is $4.69. Do you realize that a big mac has only 90 grams of meat in the two miniature patties. That figures out to 3 ounces total weight (before cooking) for two patties of meat. Very high profit margin I would say! Anyway, I realized later that part of the problem with the high price was that she didn't give me the combo price even though I ordered the two filet of fish as combo. The fillet of fish was cold and completely devoid of any flavor at all. No cream for the coffee--really?? She said they would have the cream the next day. Oh ok, so should I come back Tomorrow with my cold coffee then?? Clearly, they do not exist to serve the local clientele. They exist only to rip off the hungry travelers. Dirty filthy disgusting! We were enroute from Reno to Vegas and starving for breakfast. McDonalds is always an easy choice when traveling...unless it is THIS McDonalds. Very friendly and unconscious workers...how else could I explain that by the time I used the restroom and caught a glimpse of behind the counter I didn't want breakfast there. The walls in the bathroom looked like they were covered in years of grime, there were dead crickets behind the counter and the floors were filthy and THAT'S where the food comes from! Sadly enough my husband had already ordered...I threw it straight in the trash and waited for dinner in Vegas. The people working there clearly do not take cleanliness seriously. Unfortunate for all the elderly people having breakfast there, one day someone is going to get very sick here. Stopped here on the way home from Vegas. Most of the employees seemed nice despite our group of people taking quite some time to decide what to order. Cashier was polite and managers seemed to be very friendly. Only thing that I didn't like was a grumpy crew member. My 1 year old nephew spilled his drink on the floor. I went ahead and grabbed a wet floor sign (I'm a former fast food manager for 5 years) and then notified management of the spill. The crew member that had to clean up the minor spill didn't seem too happy despite my genuine apology. Stop here if you please, but I believe your experience here will likely be on par with all other McDonald's restaurants. PS interesting location and town. read more

My food smelt like wet dog, and my tartar sauce was sour, the fries where fried in old grease and from the time we ordered to the time we received our food it took 45 mins, for our food to be disgusting. And the staff had no sense of urgency and messing around. read more

Just keep driving... This place is horrible. I specifically asked for NO ONION. My burger came with extra onions. I double checked the ticket that was stuck to the box, and it said no onion... I took it back to the cashier and she acted like she didn't know what to do. She finally took it back to the gentleman making the food. He brought up a second one which had burnt buns... However he did kindly include a third burnt bun (a least i got to pick the two least burnt ones I guess). After getting to set down and look around I realized how flat out NASTY the restaurant area actually was. Large pieces of food all over most of the tables and floor. There was a large bag of leftovers on the floor across from me. The young lady that took my order came out of her corner after about 10 minutes and walked to the only clean table in the place with a wet towel. She spent about 4 minutes folding the towel before wiping the table. Then she went back to the register... Totally ignored the filthy tables 8 ft away... Sad. McDonald's - Burgers Near Me - Hawthorne, Nevada

The wait gets quite long for a fast food restaurant, and the driveway is a super tight squeeze even for a smaller truck. One time the fresh nuggets we had were way over cooked. Luckily we've been here multiple times though and have realized that sometimes, things just get screwed up. We still enjoy chit chatting with the staff and 3/4 time we enjoy the food and desserts. It would be nice if this place was given a facelift like all the other mcdonalds I've seen! read more

Worst McDonald's ever! The younger kids are the only ones with any brain cells in this place. The manager that served my drink practically threw it out the drive thru window! We have been stopping here for years on our way to Arizona, and have seen it become worse and worse with each passing year, it had gotten so bad that I finally called the corporate office listed on our drink purchase ticket to see if that would do any good, and it did some, at least we were able to see the floor in the restroom, and the restaurant area our next trip through, but it is only worthy of a drink as hopefully, the cups are clean. Oh boy! All these other reviews don't lie! We only stopped out of severe hunger this morning as there are no other quick options in this tiny town! The cleanliness of the restaurant, bathrooms, and behind the counter were filthy. I'm glad we ate there, however, because they forgot to put the cheese on my breakfast sando, forgot to give us the package of dried fruit for the oatmeal, and forgot to give us a coffee. Dirtiest McDonald's I've ever seen. McDonald's food is what it is but I stop whenever I travel because it's fast easy and clean bathrooms. This location disappointed. The bathrooms were filthy. The men's room light is burnt out and when the urinal spewed the guys couldn't even see what was hitting them. Ended up outside cleaning up with a garden hose. The iced tea pot was grossly dirty and the overall housekeeping not up to even middle of nowhere standards. My order was wrong too but that was the least of my concerns. Every bite I took left me wondering if the kitchen was as dirty as the rest of the place. At 10:30 in the morning this mess was not just from the current day. This fast food chain is generally good, but at this specific restaurant it's a whole other story. We ordered a crispy chicken burger, a 10 piece set of tenders, 2 pies, a big mac and fries with w patties, and 3 drinks. The workers seemed depressed and overall angry. We did NOT receive our pies, or the fries until we asked them. Instead of receiving a crispy chicken burger I received an artisan grilled peace of rubber chicken. Yes not only the wrong burger, but it's a damn piece of rubber! We also were given the wrong size drink, wrong flavor sauce, and undercooked fries. I am outraged. The bathrooms were gross. We went through the drive-through because the line was a little long -maybe not enough workers. They didn't offer nor give us any ketchup and the large fry was missing 1/4 of the fries. Compared to other McDonald's, the Big Mac was slightly less fresh. read more

Bad even for McDonald's. Usually go here when driving to and from Vegas. Usually it is ok but today is the day that I decided to not go back here again. Ordered 2quarter pounders and one Big Mac meal. Instead of filling our order they placed the sandwiches out on a tray and customers were allowed to touch our food. Much to my surprise I saw an employee take my fries and give them to someone who came in way after us. When I saw a kid open a sandwich box to see what was inside I had enough. Manager was rude when I asked for a refund. Bathrooms smelled like someone peed on the floor. Someone dropped a shake on the floor when we arrived near register and 16 minutes later it was still there even though they knew about it. Good grief! Would give it no stars if possible. We travel from Reno to Las Vegas and back frequently and place an online orders while driving and pick it up inside as we are in an RV and the drive through is a NO. We ordered several breakfasts with no issues but today we ordered lunch. Simple order Big Mac, quarter pounder with no cheese and medium fries. The older lady working the front area with orders was very rude as I asked if my online order was ready as the board indicated it was ready along with several others. She indicated they could not keep up with the orders on the board so she cleared all of them including mine. I assume they get rated on the time it takes them to get the orders to the customers but if you clear them before the order is ready your store is not accurately timing orders. I waited another 5 minutes for the order as she kept telling the cooks I'm still waiting on the 2 quarter lbs one with cheese and one without. I got the order and no thank you from the lady. We started down the road and opened the bag three items but the quarter lbs had bacon, cheese and no ketchup or onions. I called the number on the receipt and rang with no answer nor voicemail. I hope the manager works with their employees as I understand this is a small business which effects the owners bottom line. read more

Manager Jocylyn was very professional and offered to let us review surveillance from time my son's bag went missing with his wallet, cash, gift cards, itouch, etc. I was impressed with her communication. Later in day, a woman called to say she found the bad and all contents in tact! Amazing that a good Samaritan still exists in our society. Time to Pay It Forward!!! read more

When traveling thru Hawthorne be sure to visit the fly hatchery at McDonald's. I ordered a burger with pickles only, got my burger, it had everything but pickles. While waiting 20 minutes for my order, I noticed that the flys would flock to the LCD screen when a delicious looking hamburger was displayed, when McNuggets showed, they would scatter. Been here many times and usually OK and a welcome stop on a long trip journey. But last night there must have been a Management Failure, but the whole shift looked sloppy, worked, sloppy and just didn't care. Evening Shift: 7/3/14 8pm. Ordered: $1 drink and $5 20 piece mcnugget, and a fish sandwish. They charged me $15.90 on what should have been about $10 bucks. When I questioned the charge, the girl said she charged me for a 20 piece meal deal but could get a Manager for refund the Fries. They were busy and took the bag and said never mind. Went Fill to my drink and the ICE was OUT and the unsweetened TEA was out, finally got COKE but it was FLAT ! Got back to my car to enjoy my meal and found that I was shorted 1 McNugget only 19 and shorted 1 drip, only 3. Obviously, I did not enjoy my McDonald's meal with all the frustration. Management and lack of shift leadership at this location was at fault. Usually, I'm there in the afternoon and never had this problem. 4 buttermilk chicken 2 add pickle and cheese, 1 cheese burger and a 20 piece nugget to go. All ordered for the kiosk. Two people ordered at the counter after me. 19 minutes later I finally received my 1 old dried out chicken sandwich and the other three which were made wrong. I watch them drop the chicken 10 minutes after standing there waiting. Then they dropped the nuggets after the chicken came out because no one bothered to check if they had any ready. I could not believe it was taking this long, but when no one is thinking past the first line of the order I guess it does. I asked the clerk what time she had as I got the food, 8:49 she says. I asked her if 19 minutes was a long time to wait. She said it is cooked to order, and looked at me like I was at fault. Oh I almost forgot the flies. Thanks for wasting my time and money. always check your food before you get out of town. I seldom visit this McDonalds because of past experiences,for example:I've ordered the Deluxe Big Breakfast on two separate occasions,and on both visits a muffin or biscuit was not included.When I went back to notify the counter ,I was told that these items were not included with the order.Icalled corporate today and was told that in fact one of these items is to be included with the order (if this is done on every DBB that's quite a savings for the owner) Today I went in and noticed that The Dollar Menu has been changed to The Dollar and More Menu.
