The service is sooo slow. You have to waiting in a long line to order food from drive through then wait for employee to take your order. Meanwhile, the people behind you that think it's you that's causing the hold up. After paying for your meal of a burger fries and chicken nuggets, you have to wait even longer. Your typical McDonalds grub Went through drive thru twice. Once in AM and once in PM. Both times the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Management needs to get outside cc leaned cc up and welcoming. You sort of think twice when you pull up to drive thru and order screen is full of bullet holes and you can't see what to order. Over grown grass and weeds. If mgmt CC oils take pride in their store like employees take pride in their job reflected in great service I would up the stars. read more

A/C wasn't working and hasn't been the last two times I stopped here. The fly problem is bad and you are always swatting at them. Now for the good part. What a joke! Pulled into drive thru and the menu board is impossible to read. Then we were told the system is down so they cannot take orders for at least 15 minutes. If that is true, block off the drive thru lane. So then we were stuck in drive thru lane for another 10 mins waiting for the idiots in front of us to decide if they wanted to wait or not in order to proceed with their meal purchase. One would think that since it is the McDs in the area right next to a Naval Base, things would work better. read more

Tip to management...prepare for a high volume of customers on college move in weekends, as this is one of the few places to eat traveling Las Vegas to Reno. I always have a quandary when I review a fast food place. Do they get rated on a sliding scale considering they are a fast food chain? Can there be a 5 star fast food experience from a chain? I honestly haven't decided if there is an answer to this question for me. But for this review it pretty much doesn't matter. Hawthorne McDonalds is 3 stars. A-Ok, nothing to complain about. I had spent 3 months here a few years back and didn't go in one time. I avoided it because of rumors about unsanitary stuff being done. But decided tonight was the night to check it out for myself. I ordered up the special of $5 for 20 McNuggets. Yeah, I know pink slime and all that, but actual research says otherwise. I also ordered up a lemonade light and a $1 side salad. The side salad was good aside from the crappy salad dressing. Southwestern is thousand island with a bit of spice....bleh. The nuggets weren't cooked to order, funny thing is I ordered, then unordered (because they were out of hot mustard) but then changed my mind and ordered them and they still came out in less than a minute. I would rather have them hot and right off the fryer but these were pretty good. Maybe next time I will ask for a fresh batch considering I only get these once a year at the most. The atmosphere is McDonalds. It seemed clean and would be fine as stop over on your travels through this lovely state. ;) Service today was obviously patient with my brain fart. And as I ate my food they seemed to be just fine at taking care of the customers that came in. Good parking here, even lots of truck parking if you are driving a big rig. read more

Not going to say anything about the food as it is McDonalds and it is what it is. However we stopped in at the drive through as we were on a road trip and needed to be on our way. The guy at the window took our money and then handed my husband the bag of food... my husband started to open it and was reprimanded with an "it's all there" so we drove off and several miles later discovered that, in fact, it was not "all there". I travel through this McDonald's often on my way through town- I travel for work. Every time I get anything no matter what beverage it is it's a gamble on the accuracy of the taste. Most of the time the tea taste like water, or the coffee is awful. There is absolutely no consistency. I can deal with a business being short handed, but at very least have your beverages and food taste good. I know most chains, have recipes that a business must abide by, especially concerning food and drink so you have a consistent flavor. Most of the time it's just bad. I'm not sure what's going on with this particular McDonald's. Unfortunately, it's the only place open to drive through late at night. Our service was horrible- the clerk couldn't figure out the screen, the person he asked for help was rude to ME when I explained I didn't want to be up charged for kids waters with our Happy Meals instead of taking sodas, they didn't provide the cups of water I asked for twice. They apparently aren't making grilled chicken sandwiches anymore- so we ordered the crispy chicken. It tasted like it had been reheated from the day before, the tomatoes were mushy and the lettuce was brown and soggy The fries were cold, mushy and had a strange taste. I don't know what it is about this place, but it seems every time I have to stop here it's either dirty, or they don't have the exact food I want to order. Or they've closed early. We went back around, he lectured us on how the 20 piece doesn't come w fries. We told them that we ordered it but it's not a big deal because it wasn't charged. We had one hour left of our 6 hour drive. We stopped here for a quick bathroom break and a quick bite to eat before we ventured off again. Upon entering, one of the guys there greeted us with a friendly hello and held the door open for us. We were maybe 4th in line, but the wait was so short. Our order came out fast and complete, and we were offered our bags with another friendly smile, this time from one of the female employees. Of of the patrons there was given a small warning that the fries were hot and to be careful. As we left, we were told to have a safe trip. A very pleasant visit for a McDonalds! This location of McDonald's in Hawthorne was actually pretty nice. I have not eaten at a McDonald's in quite a few years, not really that fond of them, they actually have upped their menu to having real chicken tenders which were actually really good. The French fries were luke warm and not very good, we let them know and they were nice enough to put on new batch of frys on for us. Eating at this place was like experiencing a missing circle from Dante's Inferno. Maybe this is what I'll experience when I die. I'll have to eat here for an eternity. I've already eaten here twice. Both times horrific. Somehow I can't seem to escape this place. There isn't much else on this stretch of road for miles. Once I had a fillet-o-fish sandwich. Next I had Le Big Mac. Atmosphere - Very clean new looking McDonald's with retro looking benches that scream 70's. Food Appetizer - Did not order any. Main Course - Two cheeseburgers freshly made for our order. Gotta love walking into a small McDonald's to have your order freshly made. McDonald's should really go to cook per order. So today was a perfect meal for a several more hours of driving in front of me back to Reno. Dessert - Did not order any. Sadly, this McDonald's is an example of what happens when you let a franchisee behave like a slumlord. Filthy store with no new equipment. The lettuce and tomato were both badly wilted. The tomatoes were cut about 5 days ago. They had wilted to the point of sliming up. The chicken was freezer burned and barely luke warm. It felt like a sad imitation McDonald's. As a Chef with a sense of responsibility, : Do not eat food prepared in that building. The equipment is in no way capable of maintaining a safe food handling temperature.
