On a road trip from Las Vegas to Reno, this location on the northern outskirts of Hawthorne, Nevada, is roughly 5-5.5 hours into the drive. With ample parking in a compacted gravel lot, it's located off the south bound side of Hwy 95. The sign at the roadside says "4.9 Star Restaurant" then "Bighorn Crossing" on the next line. The building is clearly marked, and the speed limit on this stretch is 35mph, so it's easily located. The entire place is clean, tidy, and exactly what you want for a food stop in a "frontier" county (ask Tony). "Yelpers" have never steered me wrong, and this gem overlooking the Walker Lake lives up to the hype! The food is top notch - fresh, flavorful and better than anything else offered between Reno and Vegas. Seriously. Korean style bowls and American burgers fill the menu, with some excellent beverage options, and optional "spiking," for those not driving. Bonus is the conversation with Tony: owner, professional chef, county commissioner and conservationist. He's happy to explain the challenges facing the area, especially pertaining to abused water supply from the corporate farms upriver, if you ask. Please inquire! Thanks Tony and Matthew, for an amazing meal, comfortable atmosphere and stimulating conversation. See you on the next trip!

What an amazing place to eat with a view of the lake and sightings of Big Horn Sheep! All food items are great from burgers with traditional and unique Asian flavors and spins on plate meal combos. Service is always fantastic and the setting and decor continue to improve every time we visit. Absolute the only place to eat really good food in a comfortable setting and friendly folks! Can't wait for the bungalow to be finished to enhance outdoor dining!

I love this spot. Not only is the location super cool in that if you know the area you know there aren't a lot of options here. It's right off the road and has a nice lake view if you sit out front. The whole location is just pretty sweet. The food however is what I usually focus on and the food is good. My husband has been raving about this place for a while and I had my first taste. I got the bacon cheeseburger and it was 9/10 for me. Everything was fresh and delicious. The bun was perfection. They even had delicious pickles on the side, my only complaint was that there was not more pickles! The fries are also very good. I opted for a chocolate shake which was quite good but the kicker is it was loaded and I mean loaded with chocolate shavings. Reminded me of the consistency of boba tea. Almost every sip had a chocoate shaving in it, I loved it! Someone checked on us to ensure all was ok. The staff were super friendly and there is even some cool bighorn swag inside. I was so hungry I forgot to take pics of the food and it was around very long. Worth the stop anytime you pass through!

Pulled into this place COMPLETELY on accident!! I'm a sucker for customer service and cooking techniques outside of quality ingredients!! So let's get started!! First impressions: adorable place in the middle of nowhere, we stopped to grab waters and use the restroom and take pics of the lake. So glad we did. Customer service: I care more about customer service than I do anything else. We grabbed drinks were checking out and were roped into lunch with the boast and bragging rights of one of the top three restaurants in Nevada. We'll challenge accepted buddy! After friendly conversation and recommendations of the top two items and drinks we ordered. Time waited: Less than ten minutes for our order. Order: Yuzu Italian soda, blueberry & lavender lemonade Italian soda the Chicken sandwich, and Korean rice bowl. Italian sodas were made with quality syrups and products. The were very well flavored, and quite refreshing. Korean rice bowl was served with rice, meat, lettuce, and a red sauce. I love when rice has the perfect bite and chewy texture and this did! It is also important to me that each grain stands on its own and isn't mushed together. This rice was cooked perfectly. The sauce was touted as spicy, I'm used to habanero and it was a slight tickle but had great flavor. How hot something is doesn't matter when tangy, zesty flavor is present. The meat has a tender feel to it and the fat was still evident which I love on this cut of pork. As you see in all my reviews I'm a salt person and that would be my only complaint if I had to complain but I don't.. and it's my preference! Daughters loved this dish! The chicken burger was on a toasted bun which I love for added texture. Let's talk technique here which I'm a huge fan of.. I HATE ordering chicken sandwiches because they are almost always over cooked!! The owner stated his was a chef and I gave him the option to choose my meal and here we are. The chicken was cooked to PERFECTION!!! It was succulent, silky and juicy, so much so that I dropped the sandwich tore it apart just to take a pic! I love when people boast and brag and they have the ability to DELIVER on that promise!! I also can't stand a dry sandwich and there was enough sauce to get messy, and have it all over your face!! They had a great selection of roadside snacks in store and PROTEIN SHAKES WHICH I REALLLLLLLLY value!! The restrooms were clean and the entire store was stocked and organized!! Would we return: THIS PLACE IS GOING TO BE MY COCAINE WHEN IM BACK IN THE AREA... LOVE THE OWNERS SENSE OF HUMOR!! And the view is fabulous.. I love that the owner is looking to improve and enhance the area, provide great quality food and drinks, and is knowledgeable about the area and the impact of the environment!

My husband's order. I forgot what was this, but it tasted so good too!

I am so glad to find a decent and good restaurant in Walker Lake, which is also right across my husband's apartment! I may say, this is the only decent place to grab a bite when you passes by Walker Lake. They also have convenient store for truckers and tourists looking for stop-over. I ordered its Japanese salmon bowl and it was the best grilled salmon I have tasted by far! Even when I'm talking about it, feels like my mouth is salivating and craving for the grilled, peppery, sweet with a touch of Sesame oil salmon! The salmon was paired with rice and salad, and the dressing for the salad is so Japanice! For drinks, I tried its Italian soda --- it was flavored with real raspberry and rose petals. Drinking it was so refreshing in the palate. The whole place was very clean, minimalist, and bright. They have patio-seating too, and you may catch or see a group of prong-horns on the horizon while eating, if you're lucky. The owner, Tony, was very friendly. He took time to talk to his customers and make friends. Their coffee too tasted really good, you guys need to try! When you are having a road trip, and you are looking for a stop-over, Bighorn Crossing is the place to go!

GLAD WE FINALLY STOPPED HERE!!! Don't pass this place up if your hungry and wanting a delicious burger. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and the Seoul burger, and they were off the chart! It said 8 Oz beef patty, but honestly, they seemed heftier than that. Loaded up with all the goodies, and cooked to perfection. The burgers came with a fresh and crispy salad too. The place is extremely clean and the staff very friendly. We have driven this route for 3 years, and we finally decided to give it a try. WOW!!! Too bad we procrastinated all this time.

What an awesome place for lunch on our way back to Vegas from North Tahoe! Who would have thought there would be a yummy place to eat in this teeny town! Staff were friendly, place was clean, and food was delicious! We had the Japanese Rice Bowl and the Seoul Burger. We especially liked the Seoul Burger! Waaaay better than fast food! Definitely plan to stop here again when we travel through.

They also have two pretty cool metal sculptures in front of the business next to US 95

What a surprise to find a restaurant out here in rural Nevada alongside US95 across from Walker Lake that has such incredible food. I only wish they were a little closer but then again it's nice to go for a motorcycle ride and patronize this great place. Definitely will be back again.

Holy hell and god above! If you're within 100 miles of this place and have even the slightest inkling of hunger in your belly, go to Big Horn Crossing. Convenience store is what Maps says but the food here is stupid good. I had the bison burger and damn, it was one of the best burgers I've ever had and I've had a lot from a lot of different restaurants all over the country.

The restaurant's dining room has a stunning panoramic views of the lake in addition to a warm, inviting ambience. Co-managed by Chef Jason Custer and owner Hilary Hansen Jones, it offers an unforgettable fixed-price menu featuring creative, flavorful dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. The menu that evening, inspired by the Japanese tea ceremony, delivered a harmonious and tranquil multi-course experience. Highlights include a refreshing first course of watermelon sorbet with kimchi foam, a delicately cured ocean trout with caviar cream, roasted squab in cherry sauce with Korean dumplings, and a unique dessert of toasted corn ice cream dessert. Each dish was thoughtfully paired with excellent wine suggestions from the wine list that had several Old World and New World selections under $50. The attentive service at Mono Inn was choreographed by the owner who took time to regale our table in the history of the Mono Inn. There so much I love about the Mono Inn, from the low-key vibe and mixed with a formal dinner service, to the wonderfully creative dishes bursting with amazing flavors. I've been visiting Walker Burger for decades, and it's just a joy every time…read more The staff are always very friendly and helpful, and service is efficient. They have a beautiful outdoor eating area with good shade options. The menu is surprisingly extensive for such a tiny spot. Burgers, fries, and shakes are all excellent, like "wow, I wish I could get burgers this good when I'm not here" level good. They even carry gluten free buns for those of us who can't eat wheat, and they're shockingly good! They also have good options for vegetarians. I'm always raving to my friends that they should stop here to eat when on the East Side. It's an absolute gem.

Now serving LOCAL Park Ranch Beef? SAY LESS and GIMME MORE!…read more Can't believe this is my first review of Walker Burger, as I've likely stopped here a dozen times over the years. A roadside burger, fresh and hot fries, and a rich creamy milkshake are a necessary part of every trip through the area, and whenever we're between here and Mammoth, Walker Burger is THE STOP. For starters, the vibes are just perfect. The wait in line is where it starts, as the sun is typically beating down as you wait to order in the dirt parking lot, making the shade from the narrow porch and the friendly hello from the order taker your first reward for being here. Usually I'm hungry from a busy morning of breaking down camp, and a 1/4lb Walker Burger with American cheese, fresh veggies and secret sauce on a fluffy fresh seeded soft bun always hits. Summer time usually has me ordering a fresh seasonal fruit shake (peach) but honestly every shake is fantastic and I also LOVE the coffee shakes, which are made with real coffee and coffee beans for extra punch. Fries are always hot and fresh, and best of all they come out crispy without asking for it! Service is always friendly and fun too. What makes this spot special is the garden dining. Picnic tables are scattered throughout a well shaded area offering travelers a cool and relaxing area to enjoy their food. We've definitely done this a few times, but typically take it to go and enjoy it (and the glorious mess) on the way home. Walker Burger is a MUST! Have you been?

They probably use corn starch instead of flour, because they aren't overly breaded. Shoutout to the prep workers there (whatup Zoe!), because the food is like crazy good, hot, and fast. For most of the food, they have this insane rotating grill that you can see from the street. Super cool operation Steak salad is a must as well. It's so refreshing! It's got a balsamic dressing, some bleu cheese, and either raisin or dried cranberry and maybe walnuts. I don't actually know because I shovel it down my throat lol. Burgers are the best in the area. Even their less popular items are very well done. Recently got a sausage and peppers sandwich that was as good as what I routinely make at home. Atmosphere is amazing. All the employees go above and beyond. I usually sit at the bar and play any of their video gambles. You win some, you tip extra, you leave happy. You lose some and get some beers on the house. It's a well known place but I think it's still a hidden gem amongst all that chaos lol. For a 24 hour place, it's very chill. Never had a bad experience. It's good for hanging out with friends but I wouldn't hesitate bringing my nieces and nephews and whole family there. Only critique is parking. They don't comp it, but all parking is paid now at the casinos, so it's no surprise, that's just the standard..
