My friend picked me up during his lunch break and we needed a quick meal, so McDonald's it is. We drove up to the drive-thru, ordered, paid, and happily ate our burgers on the road. This is fast food at its finest. We each ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger ($1.69) and McChicken ($1.29). I also added an order of Medium Fries, which was only $1 with the McDonald's app. Seriously, I keep this app handy. Sorry, have to give this one a 2-star review. Let's dive right into the bad. Alright, so McDonald's prides itself on its partnership with technology vendors like UberEats if you don't want to drive to your nearby McDonalds yourself. McDonalds even has their own app, which is actually not bad in terms of user interface design though there's definitely room for improvement. But where things fuck up is that McDonalds doesn't seem to have their technology and business operations aligned with one another. I ordered from the app, got order 1626 assigned to me, and drove to the store. The app asks me for what parking spot I'll be parking in for pickup. I drive all around the McDonalds in the parking lot, I don't see any designated McDonalds parking spots. There's no option on the app to choose "no parking spots available at this location" or something. Meaning, someone designed and implemented this app but didn't account for all real-world scenarios, like a McDonalds that doesn't have designated parking spots for mobile order pickups like other McDonalds locations have. Whatever, no big deal, right? What's the next option to pick up my mobile order? Oh, go inside. No biggie. Walk inside, big line. Unclear directions on app, says to "check in" to get my order. Do I wait in line with the regular customers? Or do I go straight to the pick up area and "check-in" there? I waited in line briefly with the other customers who weren't using the app, before leaving the line to go wait in the pick up area inside the store. After waiting about 12 minutes, I got my order which was otherwise a very simple order: 4 pc Chicken McNugget, 6 pc Chicken McNugget (free thanks to a coupon I clipped from the McDonalds app) and a double cheeseburger. Extra fries. I finally get my order, and I leave. Sitting down in my car, I notice there aren't extra fries in my order. I want to notify support from the app, but there isn't a place to do, and, I also don't want to go back inside. For reference I went around lunch time around 12 noon on a Sunday. SUPER long line. I don't want to deal with this. To compound the issue further, their WiFi is terrible. I've said this in other reviews I've left for businesses in Irvine, but it baffles me that despite there existing fiber infrastructure, businesses insist on leveraging outdated technologies like DSL and cable internet for their guest WiFi networks. This is cheating the customer if you ask me. To compound the customer experience further from a non-technological standpoint, they have some pretty depressing signage by the pick up area advising customers not to stay for more than 30 minutes because that is apparently considered loitering. Really? In Irvine? Seriously? All in all, I'm disappointed in McDonalds really being not only out of touch with its customers, but not being in touch with the world let alone themselves. read more

The guy who answered was super rude and short tempered, and when I asked how late they were open, simply told me "drive-through only" and hung up in my face. Chicken classic for $3 is a hard pass. The mchicken has the same if not a better meat to bread ratio. The only difference is the pickles and the breading of the chicken. The two buttermilk chicken tenders are better quality than this sandwich. Bacon egg mcmuffin is solid deal 2 for $4 and does not disappoint. Egg is fluffy, bacon crispy, and the pancake breading is great! Service was not the best. They look weirdly over staffed, yet not helpful. There was one person on the register and he also prepped food. WORST mcdonald's ever! my daughter told me she biked here to get her food and did a mobile order. I always take my 2 kids to this location since is very close to their school, last time I have ordered happy meal and they forgot to give me a toy when I mentioned to the reception she said you are wrong and I gave it to you! So she forced me to go back and look for it I went back and check even under my table which was not there! We tried to put in an online order here but the app said to go inside to talk to them at the counter. The cashier said they weren't doing online orders (possibly anymore, but it was hard to understand them), and said, as I quote exactly, "if [I] wanted to order [I] would have to do it inside". I did not like this phrasing since (1) it would have been inconvenient for anyone that requires assistance getting out of one's car, (2) the drive-thru was open, so this statement was untrue, and (3) this sentence structure and his tone of voice sounded like a command issued to an undesirable customer that they just wanted to serve and make them leave immediately whether it was intentional or not. It also applies to the fact that I am trying not to go into buildings when possible or interact with humans when possible due to agoraphobia. I attempted to pull the app up for an in person order but the app crashed and it caused me to take too long to get any ordering done, so I left as it seemed like they did not care about this trouble and/or had no record of what was ordered through the app. I was trapped behind the drive-thru line on the way out of the parking lot for several minutes as well. This experience was very inconvenient and also resulted in a verbal interaction that was not part of the app's instructions and spiraled out of the realm of my limited understanding of interpersonal communication which generated anxiety for me, even moreso since the next location I went to had someone that asked me a social question I could not answer or even provide a verbal response due to my anxiety being higher from this experience. Not to mention that we had no food after this, so I was hungry.
