I am writing in regard to an incident that happened at the Lisbon McDonalds (97 River Rd, Lisbon, CT 06351) on May 19,2026. I always use this McDonalds, and I have always had a good to great experience there. Food is always hot and orders pretty much always correct; things happen I get it. I take the surveys and leave positive reviews where they are due. Now I believe in praise in public and scold in private. The way I was treated yesterday by the manager was above unacceptable and troubling to me. I ordered at the drive thru and used my app code as I normally do. I also informed the person taking my order that I would be using a code for filling out the survey that clearly said Buy one get one Any Sandwich (equal or lesser value). I received this receipt from a previous visit to this restaurant. I ordered two Big Arch's and a small chicken nugget. When I pulled up to the first window to pay and presented my credit card and receipt with the code the person stated that the manger informed them I could not use this for any double meat sandwiches. I asked to speak to the manager for clarification. I understand that employees sometimes get things mixed up. The Manager arrived (and I apologize I did not get her name because it all happened so fast) and I said I don't understand why I can't use this, it clearly states ANY sandwich and I spelled A-N-Y. They stated that they were good and I was rude. I said huh? Rude how? the manager said you spelled ANY to me like I'm an idiot. I said no I was showing you what it said and was seeking clarification. She then returned my credit card and receipt that had already been handed to the cashier and again stated "we are good". Unsure of what just happened I proceeded to the next window to receive my order and return the receipt and ask for my new receipt and she told her employee that we were not being served that she had cancelled the order again stated "we are good and will not serve you goodbye" as she shut the window in my face.
So, I believed that the manager must have thought I was the stupid one for asking for clarification and that I didn't understand what the word ANY means. (Definition of Any is a versatile English word used to indicate an unspecified amount, quantity, or degree, or to refer to an individual or thing without restriction). Now I appreciate people in the food service industry and understand there can be bad days. I don't however believe that I should have been treated like this. I am highly disappointed in the behavior of this situation. If you are not going to honor the code from the receipt survey that you asked me to take on behalf of YOUR McDonalds don't print them or at least say some restrictions may apply. I normally don't sit down and write a letter like this, but no one should be treated like this ever. I at least want to speak up for others that have been treated this same way by the manager. No one no matter who they are deserves to be treated this way. I left McDonalds wondering what I said to make her come back to the window and immediately get confrontational with me over asking to a simple question. Take care out there and please be mindful of one another. read more
