Another thing about this McDonald's is that the inside decoration of this place actually... looks pretty nice. Chandeliers hanging from high ceilings and tall windows, it doesn't feel like I'm sitting in a typical McDonald's as well. Food quality here is just like any other though, quite average as usual. Ordered at the Drive-thru and the line was slow. Ordered 2 drinks and went up to the first window, staff was chatting and laughing when there is just one car infront of me and handful cars in the back. Went to pick up my order and 2 drinks were not done, waited for 5+ minutes to get the one of the drinks and additional 1 minute for second. When the staff handed the second drink, she immediately slammed the window even though it was not the correct drink. I don't understand why, but this location does not allow customer into the actual restaurant. I had issues ordering with my app and was instructed to go inside, but wasn't able to do so, and stood outside the door for a few minutes. An employee finally came out and asked if I placed a mobile order, I said yes and showed him the error occurring on my app, and he said "it's honestly easier to go to drive through," which was extremely slow and long. I asked the shift mgr about it and she didnt know why the fries are in bags and said, "this is the only location that has the bags". I walked in and ordered 2 extra patties and a big burger extra chesse (as always) I waited for over 25, I sat I waited and found a spare corn condiment cup which sustained me for a few more minutes. when I finally reminded them of my order they simply grab a burger from th fridge and stuffed some warm fries from the microwave Indo a platter and shoved it at my face asking for a tip. so I gave him a buck and walked away to my seat, which had dirty diaper on it I told them to pick it up but they said that was my deal. Even though this McDonald's looks great from the outside, the service does not equal it. I placed an order on the kiosk inside because the drive thru was so long but it took 35 minutes to get my food. I was not the only one who was affected by the horrible service. Another woman asked to speak to the manager because she had been waiting 20 minutes for just a coffee! One cup of coffee!! The manager handed her a coffee and blew her off with no acknowledgment. The woman looked at her coffee and it was the wrong order. We came here to feed 4 kids and 3 adults. We used 2 kiosks to order - 1 adult and 2 kids; the other for 2 adults, 2 kids. The first group to order (1&2k), didn't receive their order for about 25 minutes, whereas, the second group to order, got their food first. The second group (2&2k) ordered three different sauces (ranch, ketchup, tangy bbq sauce) and instead got two bbq sauces and no ranch. When a child went up to the counter to ask for the sauce she didn't get (ranch), she was told that she did get it on the tray (it wasn't on the tray). She then had to take the second bbq sauce and exchanged it for ranch. Two happy meals were ordered and they did not come with the apples that were ordered. Napkins were not provided or made easily available. We had to go to the counter to ask for napkins. The vibe was mediocre. Mostly unhappy customers. Probably the nicest McDonald's you'll ever visit. Even the "Golden Arches" are upgraded to a sleek black with a golden glow. Tourists pack this Micky D's on weekends and holidays. The women's restroom is relatively clean, although small and somewhat dated. Dyson hand dryer a definite plus. There's no mirror which speeds up everything. If wait time is too long, try the Estero Park restroom just across the street next to the Monterey Visitor's Center. I noticed staff wiping tables in their spare time -- which is great. Sometimes orders are difficult with the mobile app -- specifically the coupon "deals." Not sure if they trained staff. The Coke machines allow you to customize your drink. This is a great feature at many McDonald's -- but only when the machines are maintained and I noticed an unavailable machine two days in a row. During a busy holiday weekend, this can lead to a line. I hope management addresses this. The quality of the food was better than most McDonald's. The interior TV says the lettuce is sourced locally from Salinas, CA. That's definitely a plus since many who come here can appreciate that kind of effort on behalf of this restaurant. Eat in at this McDonald's. Enjoy the nice interior features and pleasant staff. This location's drive-thru entrance is south of the restaurant accessible from the larger parking lot. The front of the restaurant faces the waterfront and definitely fits the Monterey coastal experience. read more
