This remains, by far, the worst restaurant in Oxford. But wait, there's more! It might actually be the worst McDonald's in the western world and Australia. I've been to McDonald's in the middle of nowhere in America. I've been to them in western Europe, former East Block countries, Sydney, Canada, and Mexico. I wouldn't say I love McDonald's but, in general, I trust McDonald's to give me about the same service and food anywhere I go. I respect that, while they don't offer the best food, they offer the same food everywhere in the world. You generally know what you're going to get, but not at this one. Why corporate even continues to allow this franchise location to continue to exist boggles my mind. Is the McDonald's brand in such high cotton these days that they can afford to allow a blight like this to represent the Golden Arches? Our humble Oxford location says that they are 24-hours, but that may or may not be true on a given morning, particularly if that given morning starts before 6 a.m. Lately, their favorite trick is to only offer nuggets and fries after a certain time of night. Is there any mention of this outside? Nope. Is the full menu still displayed? Yep. Do they still ask you what you would like to order? Yeah, they do. And the moment you order something as arcane and obscure for a McDonald's to serve as a Big Mac, they drop the, "We're only doing nuggets and fries." Seriously, it's just a complete joke of an establishment. I suppose after making you wait in line for 20 minutes, including a good five minutes of listening to the cashier yell at the rest of the restaurant, crack jokes, and whatever else through an open mic, the assumption is that you are too worn down to care that you've been baited and switched. Maybe they are happy to run another customer off and thin the orders. I don't really know. Maybe McDonald's employees aren't paid enough to care. Maybe if I was in their shoes, I'd act the same way. Maybe had I not endured said five to 10 minutes of cross talk before having my order taken, I would have come in under the wire (wherever that wire is) to place my ever-rare Big Mac order at a McDonald's (now why would anyone expect a supposedly 24-hour McDonald's to still be serving those at midnight on a Friday?). I really don't know, but, as it stands, this place deserves to go out of business. I imagine were it not for the ready supply of inebriated undergrads desperate for food and too hungry to wait in the line at Taco Bell that it probably would. read more

Wish I could give this place a zero star review. It's absolutely ridiculous how awful a fast food restaurant can be. I mean honestly it's on the management that hired these people to work for this horrid establishment. Laziest people I have ever encountered. Sat at the drive through speaker area for 45 minutes. The left line had 4 people in a row have their order taken, and then they just stopped. I had 3 people in the car and two had mobile orders. I was going to do mine regularly. They said we could only place two orders even though the two placed were purely through the app. Then after I wait 30 more minutes to get the food(cold and soggy by the way) I go inside to order for myself. Avoid this McDonalds if you can. This morning I went to McDonalds to pick up breakfast. When asked for my order I stated I would like an egg McMuffin with sausage. The young lady taking my order asked if I wanted to add sausage to my egg McMuffin. I again stated I wanted a sausage McMuffin. She immediately asked me to wait for a moment. i waited and then tried to get her attention. Again, she said please wait. In the mean time a car pulled up to the second drive thru, placed their order and moved in line. I asked the young lady taking my order why she took their order and not mine. Again, she said I asked you to hold on and if I didn't want to wait I could drive off which I did. I have no idea why she acted this way toward me but she won't have an opportunity to do it again. The truck in lane one got done ordering and pulled up and another truck pulled up to that speaker and someone immediately answered them so I left since apparently they can not effectively or efficiently run two lanes and the service is no better than it was months ago. Every once in a while i give this place another try just to see if it's still absolute garbage and most of the time they prove themselves worthy of such a title. Yet again today i had the bright idea to order from this place. Went through the drive through, paid, and was directed to reserve spot #1 to wait. Occasionally I get a hankering for a Big Mac or a Filet of Fish and visit the local franchises of McDonald owned by Andrew and Mrs Smith. As usual, this experience was terrible. I have NEVER gotten a full fry order and the last two filets I had were inedible as they were extremely overcooked (not to mention the squirt of tartare sauce would not cover a quarter and they routinely add a half slice of cheese). When these issues were brought to the managers on duty, the rude and curt response was that is "the way we were told to do it." Today at about 1pm I made it to the front of the drivethru line and ordered their buy one get one special advertised on their window. The cashier said that my order could not be "rung up" oh her register. I asked her to check with her manager when she failed to think of doing that on her own initiative. She did and said the the special was not currently in effect. When I pointed out the 3' x 4' ad on their window she was non responsive so I asked for the Manager. A Sharon (no last name) came on the speaker. I was told she is the manager. I told her what I ordered and pointed out the aforementioned ad on the window. Sharon's response was that they did not have the special. I pointed out that they are currently falsely advertising that special and she said it did not matter but she was NOT going to ring it up as a buy one get one as advertised. I will attach a picture just for funzies. So the manager's incompetence was only exceeded by her lack of caring. And the help, was woefully uninspiring and unhelpful as befitting the manager: fish stink from their head! I urge you to stop supporting this robber barron and choose an alternative (Burger King and Subway are a half block away). read more

I believe this is the best McDonald's in Oxford. I much prefer the university location to the Jackson one. I feel this one is more welcoming and inviting than the one on Jackson. The service here is not great, but it's the connections that you make inside that really count. If you want to make friends, this is the McDonald's you should go to. This is legitimately the worst McDonald's I have ever been to. The staff is rude and frankly so rude it's almost mean. I cannot believe the owner, Betsy, is proud of this establishment. This may be the worst McDonald's I have ever been to. I come here very often after work around 1:30 am because it is 1 of 3 places open at this time in Oxford, and the wait is always around an average of AT LEAST 30 minutes. They either blame it on "preparing for breakfast" (which starts at 4), or they prioritize door dash orders. They should simply be open for that only because half of the time they ignore anyone in the drive thru. If you by chance get a person to answer you, you will be asked to pull forward every time and will very likely be forgotten about. read more

this McDonald's location has extremely rude employees. on several different occasions my experience in the drive through line and dining in was extremely poor. these employees customer service is extremely poor and super rude. they also have super slow service and occasionally only take drive thru orders from the window, making the line super long (several times I've spent 45 minutes- an hour in the line). one time I was waiting in the drive thru after I placed my order and tried to pop inside and use the restroom and an older woman at the counter SCREAMED at me telling me the bathrooms were not available for use. I understand the bathrooms weren't in use but the screaming was crazy. Also the constant attitude from the workers will ruin your night. Would give this place ZERO stars if I could. read more

On two consecutive nights they not only lacked Apple Pies (and the prerequisite foresight to supply the demand) but they lacked even a modicum of hustle that would have prompted them to throw more in the fryer. This McDonald's is one of the worst locations I've been to. Poor management has lead to high turnover and low wages, which obviously leads to poor service. Orders are often made wrong or incomplete, and the food isn't even always hot. The ice cream machine is always "down", and the wait times are extremely high.
