Waianae McDonald's has to step up their game because they are the only McDonald's near the heart of Waianae and closest to Makaha. IMO they are the worst McDonald's on the island!! The ice cream machine is always broken, the French fries is consistently soggy and the drive thru is super slow. Everyone goes to McDonald's for the familiarity of the menu and the fries!!!! The fries are the best out of all the fast food joints. Also how can the ice cream machine be consistently down? This review is coming a bit late as I was here back in September when I flew to Hawaii for a new position I took. The food was always fresh here and hadn't been sitting under a heat lamp for too long, but it was probably because they were always SOOOO busy! I went every morning for an Egg McMuffin and Iced Coffee and I don't think I made it through the drive-thru in under 15 minutes. From the East coast to the West coast and to waianae, hawaii McDonald's is the best place for me and my friends to hangout and have a meal and relax..In waianae we enjoyed having a spam,Portuguese sausage, scrambled eggs and rice for breakfast. Wtf is wrong WAIANAE MCDONALD'S. So I get the lobster roll, I'm almost done with my sandwich and I get this chunk of shell & my husband gets bits of shell in his. I call to complain about it and the lady tells me that Worker: yes there might be bits of shell Me: I asked why? Worker: they are trying to do their best to take them out but because they are rushing to get our order to us thete might be bits in it. She doesn't know what else to tell me. It's McDonald's! Everything is standardized. It's a good place to grab something quick to eat. I like the Jack in the Box breakfasts better, but McD's latte is better. Once i even got breakfast at JITB, walked to McD's for a latte, then walked to the beach for an al fresco breakfast! I rarely eat anything other than breakfast at McDs. Everything else is overloaded with carbs, so greasy and ground up! Oatmeal is the healthier option, served all day. The bacon is sliced so thinly, you can read the newspaper through it! A serving of eggs looks like it's only one egg. If you're craving protein, there are better places to get it. Service does tend to be slow, but I find it is at many "fast" food places anymore. But here it seems especially slow. To avoid looking like some hyper tourist, I just wait patiently but I don't go there often, either. BTW, that photo is outdated. Terrible! They have two order windows for nothing! They only use one. The lines are ridiculously long! Sit in a drive thru for 20-30 minutes, i could have went to zippys and dined in and got my food faster. The workers seem tired and moody. Dont get me wrong there are a few very happy pleasant workers. Fries are always stale. They need better management, more employees and need to be trained to work under pressure. read more

Even though the line of cars goes all the way around the building it is still faster than going inside where there are two people in line. While in line behind one person, a lady comes up complaining about her filet o fish having the cheese stuck to the box instead of in the sandwich. We only go for the ice cream. Which is consistently tasty and creamy. Nice staff, but should be more careful about not touching the cone with their hands. Place is clean and staff courteous. Don't try to do the take out as the car line usually is long and wraps around the Building. The cones are very fresh, and the dip thick. McDonalds Waianae is the slowest "fast"food restaurant I've every encountered. One cashier to take orders. 5 expeditors to bag food. 2 to 3 of the expo's are m.o.d's., and still it can take 15 mins. or more. Very rare will u leave there within 15mins. There are times when I've gone in to order. The staff, including M.o.d's, were talking among themselves about incidents that have nothing at all to do with their work. The cashier had her back to me and was going to start a new pot of coffee. I waited a minute or 2 then said Hi. Before I said Hi though, a few of the workers saw me and didn't say a word to me. They just went back to discussing thing not work related. Anyway, after I said Hi a few times, the cashier finally turned and said, can i take your order...like I just got there that second. Anazing! If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. I went through the drive-thru because there were only 2 other cars in line. Got my food only to find that I was missing an item. So I drove back and went inside to the counter. I am the only one at the counter and I get no acknowledgment or greeting. When I FINALLY get someone's attention, she looks at me like I'm bothering her. As she get's my missing item, she tosses it onto the counter and rolls her eyes at me! Hey! If you don't want to be there, then get out! Don't take it out on me! This place has severely gone down hill in the past year. Customer service is severely lacking.
