Good view of the mountains and good staff, but food was not the greatest. Ordered the Country Smash Burger, but technically the burger wasn't truly a "smash burger." The patty was also extremely oily/fatty and dripped everywhere, which made the brioche bun soggy. The burger was supposed to also have avocado, but that was missing. Went there with my Ohana for lunch today. The ambience was mellow with local contemporary Hawaiian music videos playing, it was great! We ordered some of the items from their menu and everything looked really good. We had the Mauka to Makai Nachos, Spicy Ahi poke bowl, Beachboy Burger and the Kalbi Short Ribs. They were all great tasting. Our server, Jhovana, was very courteous and attentive. She was always checking in on us to see if we needed anything else. We really appreciated her. Want everyone near and far to come by The Lilikoi Lounge and have some good grinds and order more to take home. Was amazing to dine here in our home town without having to drive too far. What didn't go well here? Everything was amazing. We got here shortly after the rush of golfers, os so we were told. But it was nice bc really no one else was there. The servers were still super attentive and helpful with menu selections. What I loved most was that the prices are not outrageous like most places can be. I was surprised that the Tumbleland Special came with a good amount of meat juhn. The shrimp burger also had a huge shrimp patty. The Kim Chee fries are so worth the $2 upgrade and come on some kind of white cheesy sauce that was so bomb. You can earn reward points by providing your phone number which can be also used at Lanterns which we learned is their sister restaurant. They were very accommodating when we had no reservations and with a party of 12. Our car club took a west side cruise and had lunch up in the beautiful makaha valley. They didn't disappoint and again I was so engaged with conversation I forgot to take pictures. I had the meat jun and was so Ono. Our latest and greatest breakfast/brunch joint on the west side. I've been here a couple times so far and it's an absolute treasure. I have been ordering the breakfast items, such as their Lilikoi pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage. My parents are absolutely raving about the shrimp burgers, which are clearly homemade with giant chunks of shrimp and are a great deal. Compliments: Service is excellent. The girls are on top of it, the kitchen is consistent, and the owner or manager is on site and visible. It's clean. The building is vintage 60s and it's definitely showing it's age in a few places, but they did a great job with cleaning and freshening the place up. The food is GREAT. Everything I have ordered has been fabulous. Parking is easy, even if the parking lot needs to be repaved. I would like to point out some missed opportunities that are not detriment to this place, but could be opportunities for growth: I love the Lilikoi pancakes. I really cannot understand why they are served with (slimy) corn syrup. The missed opportunity here is to serve them with real maple syrup or even Lilikoi syrup. But please, ditch the corn syrup slime. The music. The first time I was there, they were playing some country countdown thing on the television. It was a little loud and made conversation difficult. I know the acoustics in there are not the greatest, but I think they could play some nice background music, such as bossa nova or Hawaiian instrumental or classical guitar to add to the atmosphere. The view is spectacular, some soft, relaxing music would make breakfast or brunch even more enjoyable. Signage. There could definitely be some signage pointing patrons to the proper entrance off of Makaha Valley Road, and from the parking lot. If you've never been there before, it's probably a little difficult to find. The tables. The indoor tables are some sort of perforated/ slotted plastic. They're cute now, but they could get a little funky over the next year or two if food were to get stuck down in the cracks and crevices. A tablecloth would not be the worst idea. and tablecloths would be a nice opportunity to add additional color or a pattern or theme to the cute orange chairs. There are some really fun neon colored Hawaiian prints that are very retro that could make the place even cuter. A more defined hostess stand or entrance signage where it might say, "please wait to be seated" or " pick a spot" etc. you walk in the entryway and it's just not very well defined. Plants!!! Even fake plants would add some color and interest to the pillars in the corners or on the tables. Some nice, fake potted trees, some nice fake potted greenery strategically placed... It adds color and interest. Or real plants are also great. read more

I've been here many times now and have not at all been disappointed. My favorite drink is the watermelon mule, which is just sweet enough and very refreshing. Not mad, just disappointed. We have been wanting to come here as we live Lanterns but as an old school server, I know not to head to a new restaurant until they work out the kinks. I thought we had given it enough time but no. I'll explain the three stars: service is 4 stars, our actual server was amazing. A lady from New Zealand. She was attentive and had great customer service. However there was no hostess stand or sign saying seat yourself so as you walk in, first impression is uncomfortable like you're walking into someone's house uninvited. There is no obvious place to wait until being served so you just stand in the doorway. The food is 3 stars. It was priced surprisingly very well. Three of us got out of there with full bellies for $45 before tip. Two cups of coffee, two virgin bloody Mary's, ramen, pancakes with bacon and a loaded omelet. I had ordered a side of potatoes but when they came not only were the portions super small but it looked over cooked greasy and thrown in the plate. I felt bad but I had to let the server know I wouldn't be eating it. I should have taken a photo. The ramen was ok. I loved the pot it comes in. The pancakes and bacon were really too! Zero complaints. Very happy with the fluffiness, texture and taste. The omelet was closer to dennys than we'd like and the potatoes it came with were cold and tasteless as well. As for the dining experience, it's more cafeteria that restaurant with dirty carpet, lined up rectangular tables, dirty broken overhead fluorescent lighting, clutter everywhere, handprints and mystery smudges all over the windows so you can't even enjoy the view outside. We won't be back. Not mad because the price was aligned with the experience but disappointed in the Lanterns brand. read more

Had brunch/lunch for the first time. Ordered the kimchi fried rice w/spam and they were kind enough to replace the scrambled eggs w/sunny side up eggs. The service was very good and they were attentive to our needs. We got to sit outside and enjoy the breeze. It wasn't too busy. And the fact that their menu times overlapped made for a wide selection of food. We are staying on the leeward side of the island and wanted a nice breakfast. We found this place on yelp and went due to the good reviews. It is located at the local country club. My sister had the steak and potatoes while I had a made-to-order omelette with hash browns. Here potatoes were somewhat charred and they brought her a replacement dish. The staff was very attentive and pleasant and food very good. This appears to be a place frequented mostly by locals (my first clue to finding good food) as we were the only tourists in sight. read more

I was so shocked when I saw the prices. Super affordable and our server Ray kept checking on us even though I insisted on sitting outside. This restaurant is wrong on a lot of levels... Let's start with service...we were a party of 5,were seated at the only table that could hold 5,which was adjacent to main dining room in a huge open space. Server took awhile and opened conversation with "do you know what you want to eat"? Excuse me..you have a full bar AND pupus and your server doesn't ask if anyone would like something from the bar or any pupus to start? 2 people in our party gave their food order and I asked,dont you ask if we want drinks? 4 of our 5 did. Out of Stella, out of Kettle one,out of another beer that was on the alcohol menu( which we were never even given till we were told the bar says they're out of said items.) Tito's,which I ordered instead of kettle one was a glass full of ice,even though I specifically told server only a couple cubes.She claimed she told bartender that but bartender filled glass with ice.But you notice server brought it to table anyway. My wife had a root beer float martini which was good,but again we wouldn't have even known about it since the drink menu wasn't presented till after other people ordered. After everyone at the table was done eating ,our dirty plates,etc stayed on table for a half hour while we talked,untill I flagged server and asked her to clear table. Now let's talk food...Fish and chips we're miniscule compared to other restaurants in the area,notably Beach House. Country burger was just an unseasoned patty of ground beef..crispy onions? More like barely sauteed.And medium well came out bloody The shrimp burger came out 10 minutes after everyone else's food as did that persons alcoholic beverage. Oh,and The Wedge....terribly disappointing...when menu says blue cheese,we expect blue cheese,not watered down blue cheese dressing.Lettuce was already cut up,it was not a wedge.AND I told waitress to bring it out first as we were gonna share. She brought it out,put it on table,no plates to share with,and then returned right away with three of the 5 entrees,and again I had specifically told her to bring wedge out first before firing the food. All in all,a terrible ,and frustrating $130 experience.I doubt we'll be back. We've to Lanterns a few times and for wife's 70th birthday in July and everything was fantastic. If I was you I wouldn't let on that Lilikoi is associated with you,if we went to Lilikoi first,we never woulda tried Lanterns. I'm a local and I actually live very close by and it's very sad to see how run down Makaha Valley has become on a whole the place used to be beautiful and nice they've cut all the plumeria trees on the driveway it just looks like a third world country I have nothing against the lilikoi lounge but they're outdoor dining could be much cleaner much more organized it just looked like crap the tables are dirty the cushions are gross the bathrooms are disgusting it's a very very run-down place the food is okay it's nothing to write home about I'm just I'm never going back it's a shame because Makaha Valley once was a beautiful beautiful place with trees and the resort and just used to be so nice and it just looks like a third world country it's not taking care or loved at all ... I live on the road and have lived on the road for 40 years and I don't drive up the valley anymore cuz it's too depressing how they let all the trees die all the coconut palms are dead the plumerias are gone I just think it needs a whole lot of love and needs a huge renovation read more
