I have genuinely never had an experience like this at any restaurant in my 36 years. My family was traveling through Waltersboro with four kids, including young toddlers, and stopped here for dinner before heading to our hotel. I placed my order at 9:04 p.m. Knowing it was busy, I sat down and waited patiently. And waited. For 45 minutes. During that time I watched what felt like everyone else get their food. At least 20 other customers were served while my order disappeared from the "Now Serving" screen. I never complained or caused a scene. After realizing I'd been waiting 45 minutes, I simply walked to the counter and said, "This is crazy. I've been waiting 45 minutes and you've served at least 20 other people while I've been sitting here." The manager told me she would refund my order. I thanked her, assuming it was an apology for the excessive wait while they finished making my food, so I sat back down. Ten minutes later, after still receiving nothing, I went back to ask about it again. That's when she informed me she had refunded me because she was refusing to serve me for being "rude." Rude? Apparently asking where your food is after waiting nearly an hour now qualifies as being rude. I never yelled. I never cursed. I never threatened anyone. I simply asked about an order I'd been patiently waiting on for 45 minutes. The situation became so ridiculous that another customer in line offered to pay for our meal herself and begged the manager to just feed my family. A complete stranger had more compassion than the person running the restaurant. My husband eventually came inside, calmly explained that the situation was unacceptable and would be reported to corporate, and suddenly we were handed our food after 10:00 p.m. If I was truly being refused service, why did that decision suddenly change? To make matters worse, after all of that, our order was still missing roughly a quarter of the food. Long waits happen. Mistakes happen. What should never happen is treating a customer like they're the problem simply because they asked about an order after waiting nearly an hour. If you're traveling on I-95 and thinking about stopping here, I'd strongly recommend choosing literally any other place to eat. This wasn't just slow service. It was some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. The food was disgusting as well when we finally did receive it. read more

We had a great experience at McDonald's. It was crowded, but everyone was working so hard and was so helpful. Very impressed with the staff!! We ate inside and from the tables you can't tell you are connected to the gas station. It was clean and even decorated for spring. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Stopped up sink, no toilet paper in 2 stalls and the floor was disgusting and one stall was locked and the mens were just as bad the guys said. Coke and dr.pepper were flat, no salt on the fries and there were few fries to begin with and the fries were fried in old grease. 4 orders came back wrong but we were one of the lucky ones....i guess you could say that but our order was correct. Ordered from the kiosk, 20 pieces nugget deal for five dollars. Got my order. Down the road noticed they only gave me 16 pieces. What a deal! Lots of errors going on while I was there waiting for my order. DoorDash wanted a receipt and they had taped it up in the bag. Another lady was waiting for her fish sandwich for 30 minutes. As with many fast food restraunts along the Interstate, it is in with a gas station. The restrooms are average, not really clean, and not super dirty. This stop was a quick restroom break and drinks. It is difficult to mess up drinks. That being said, a coke with no ice was ordered, but they just had to add ice. Seems like they are getting rid of the self-service sodas. I personally try to stay off I95. People don't seem to know how to drive. They all want to either do the speed limit or 100 mph. This might work, but some of the speed limit people don't know how to get out of the fast lane. I won't be back to this restaurant by choice. read more

Here we go again for another try at "second coffee" but at 7:10 am, this McDonald's lobby was closed. What the heck? Trash in the parking lot, but inside the restaurant looked clean. At least, that was as much as I could see through the closed gate! Yes, this McDonald's shares an entrance with the gas station / convenience store. They weren't closed - there were customers in the drive through. But do I really want to wait behind six cars to get a cup of coffee when my Sprinter van might not fit through the drive through anyway? No thanks! If I could give this place ZERO stars I would...'Why?' might you ask, simple: This was far and beyond the worst customer service I have most likely ever experienced. After arriving I found myself third-deep in a line of three people, and so I waited, and waited and waited...and waited...the manager just upped and disappeared. No explanation, no 'hold tight', no sorries, nothing - just walked away from the register to do something. But it sure wasn't to help the customers he had right there in front of him. The manager was a young guy, in his twenties, and looked overwhelmed. What happened before I got there I do not know, and to be brutally frank, nor I care. You simply can't break the main rule at one of these places, which is to keep 'em moving. Well, I supposed he did, it's just that me and the second guy in line moved right out the door. Expect the staff to attend to drive thru cars one car every 10 minutes. 4 cars in line will take 40 minutes. Manager must be 10 years old. If you can't operate burgers and fries something is seriously wrong. Going to a sit down restaurant is faster than this McDonald's. My experience at this McDonald's was quite good. I love the restaurant decor. This is a newly modeled restaurant, and it is comfortable! My food was piping hot and fresh. The service was exceptional, and the restaurant was clean. I like the fact that it is connected to a gas station. Typically, restaurants that are attached to gas stations aren't the best representation of the chain. In this case, though, I think McDonald's scored one for the team. If you're traveling through Walterboro and need a quick on the run meal, you'll be fine here. We all know what McDonald's is, and we all know it's not good for us, so I put all that aside and rated the restaurant on its service, cleanliness, food presentation, and food temperature. read more

Driving 7 hours down to flordia and needed to stop for some quick fast food breakfast. Have already been waiting in a reserved drive through spot for 20 minutes. 20 minutes. The wrong food was brought to us at 15 minutes, and then the wrong food was also brought to the car next to us. Ordered a Carmel frappe, 3 sausage McMuffins, 4 hash browns, and a chicken McGriddle. 4 sandwiches. Really not understanding what's taking nearly 20 minutes when they aren't busy right now. No apologizes for the mistakes or the wait either, or course. They truly truly are the worlds slowest McDonald's I have EVER been to. Service and staff included. Well, several (10) employees working and we were the only guests to sit and they still got the order wrong. 6 employees sat in a booth hanging out...while the others were either on their phones or chatting with other employees...still managed to get our order wrong. Is this even real how a chain could have the worst employees ever????? I am not sure who owns this franchise but please look at what is happening with your staff and fix ASAP!
