Dr Newbolt did cataract surgery on my , dry cloudy, left eye! Might be more pleased. I actually changed a surgical appointment that I had at another ophthalmologist because I just didn't feel like I was listening to at the other doctor. This has been an amazing experience from my initial consult to my follow up appointment, one day after my surgery. I have met people with a common care or interest as me which is Animal, Rescue, and CARE, my nurse Sarah, who got me ready for surgery was amazing and we swapped fantastic cat stories about our babies so I will definitely not be afraid to go for my second surgery which I will probably do sooner than I initially thought my left eye is crystal clear whereas the right one wasn't OK I am 100% plus satisfied. read more

After my surgery, my voting has gotten continuously more blurry, and don't believe their 'out of pocket cost estimates'! I stressed to them that I could only afford a certain amount for my costs, before the surgery. They assured me that their estimate would be "very close" to my out of pocket costs. But the ACTUAL costs were more than twice the amount they quoted! They never said there were other costs. read more

Concerning Experience and Pressure for Unnecessary Surgery I had a two‑hour exam here in December 2025, and the experience left me very uneasy. Despite having a large office, there were no ophthalmologists on site. After the exam, I was told I had "severe" nuclear cataracts and needed to have both lenses removed urgently -- before Christmas -- and that I would have to travel to Little Rock because they had no ophthalmologists locally. I was also told LASIK wouldn't work and that the surgery was invasive, which added to the pressure. The urgency they pushed did not feel right, so I requested my records and sought a second opinion. They initially refused to send my records to the ophthalmologist in my own town, and the doctor there had to call them himself to get them. My second exam (also two hours) showed something very different: only mild cataracts that are completely normal for my age, excellent eyesight, and absolutely no need for surgery. The ophthalmologist told me, "If it isn't broken, we're not going to fix it." Based on my experience, I felt pressured toward an unnecessary and invasive procedure. I had one appt with this group...My family Dr was off so I called to see if they accept drop ins FOR AB med for conjunctivitis...they said they don't do that....and BTW Dr Halloway won't be seeing you any more and your follow up apt is canceled...no explanation...just GO AWAY...what kind of Doctor is this... Never had my eyes check so decided to give this place a new 1st time visit, but been on hold for 9 minutes just to talk to somebody, The website says customer service is what they strive for. That is a lie right off the bat, I will know find somebody else to schedule an appt with. How sad read more

I completed treatment for dry eyes with Dr. Brogdon in Little Rock. The office staff, nurses and Dr Brogdon were all very courteous, professional and showed me nothing but kindness and respect. My dry eye problem was improved to the point I was able to have my cataract surgery. I had cataract surgery on both eyes over a 2 week period (community care referred from the VA). It was the most positive experience that I have ever had in a medical environment. I saw staff and doctors in both the Hot Springs and Little Rock clinics and the Little Rock Surgical Center. Everyone I came in contact with showed extraordinary professionalism, compassion and such a personal feeling of attentiveness. I LOVE that it is their goal to have a LIVE person on the phone within 15 seconds! They've met that goal every time I call! I'm happy with the care I've received both at the Hot Springs office and the Surgi Center in Little Rock. Everyone has always been polite, courteous, and helpful! I am not a patient but brought my Mom to her cataract evaluation. Requiring a patient to be an hour early for an evaluation is not patient friendly. Checkin took 5 minutes & the rest of the hour was wait time. Fine for the clinic, not good for patients or family. Then there is the waiting area. I will start this review by saying I am elated to do business with McFarland Optical on Central Ave, Hot Springs! This is by far the best decision I ever made and now I will explain why. Not only are the opticians excellent in their knowledge, Kat and Zoey are the most kindest, courteous, pleasing ladies you will ever want to know, let alone do business with. This is as good as it gets especially in HS where I have found other opticians as well as businesses in most other categories less than passable and quite frankly rude and think they're doing the customer, who is their bread and butter, a big favor. (Please see my review for Sellers Eye Clinic, bad news!) Kat and Zoey are both so delightful I felt I wanted to spend the rest of my day there, even after getting my new Rx eyeglasses. Needless to say, I will unequivocally be doing much more future business with them. Well, things went very smoothly this morning as I did my pre-op exam for cataract surgery (scheduled for Dec 16). I knew things were going to go ok when Stephanie (see earlier review) told me to come inside. She's very efficient, yet very pleasant. Then I met Dr Bartels, who will be doing the surgery in Dec on the left eye first. Very nice, very professional, and we moved right along. I'll be glad to be done with both eyes taken care of, and I would recommend McFarland for any eye situation. read more

My daughter just had LASIK surgery with McFarland Eye Center and we couldn't be more pleased! Everyone there has been more than kind and extremely professional.
