Regrettably have to echo the criticism on this establishment. Ignored the reviews and went to look at a car here - we knew what we wanted and were eager to buy that weekend after an extensive search. This was the right make and model and even color. Drove 1.5 hours to get there and found it was parked in the showroom. The rep told us he had to ask his manager if he could remove it from the showroom (?) and came back saying his manager did not want it removed because it's a lot of hassle and could we just drive a similar model on the lot instead. We would have to ensure him we were buying the car without driving it for him to take it out. It was so sketchy in that office. Smelled like cigarettes and a 1980s Cameron Crowe film. Old school creepy sales approach. We ended up buying the car at hertz that afternoon. I have to be honest I was skeptical to shop here with a Yelp rating of 2.5 stars at the time of my purchase and just 10 positive reviews in the past 7 years (on Yelp!). As a Pembroke resident and seeing what they do for the community I was willing to give the McGee Pre Owned Superstore a chance, and I am so happy that I did. With a large inventory and competitive financing this "new-to-me" car purchase was easy and hassle free. Bob Smith, my sales guy, was knowledgeable, super friendly, and very helpful: he went above and beyond and took excellent care of me. Everyone at the McGee Superstore, from management (Imed), the behind-the-scenes staff, registry services, finance (Lulu), internet sales (Chris), to the service department, far exceeded my expectations. Bob helped me get the exact car I needed and it was within my budget! Bob was genuine, patient, and he treated me like a member of the McGee family. The dealership was honest and upfront about the car that I was most interested in had been in a previous accident. They showed me the Auto Check report (their version of a Carfax). After my purchase and financing was finalized I came to pick up my car and it was superbly detailed and ready to go. They also gave me a voucher towards fuel. I've driven by this dealership hundreds of times on my way to work. Well, when it became a necessity to look for a new (new to me) car, I thought I would give them a look. Yes, I am very happy I did. On my first stop to just look, I met with Dan Gillbrook. Things couldn't have worked out better. He listened to my list of requirements and dollar amounts. Pretty quickly he came up with a decent list of 3 vehicles he thought would work for me. All very nice. Over a few days and many questions and concerns on my part we found the perfect vehicle for me. I'm surprised there are only two reviews for these losers. I stopped in the McGee in Hanover - they have (still have it on the lot 3 weeks later, but that is a different review) an Acura TL, same miles, same year, for 2k less (the only difference is the Hanover store's car is blue, and Pembroke's is Grey). I was told by both dealers the owners are cousins - basically sharing the McGee name to make their used car chain appear bigger... The DO NOT share inventory, and each will bash the others inventory (you know the deal - the others cars are the ones they didn't want at the auction...). I really can't believe they would openly bash the others cars, but... So, like I said, I saw the TL at the Hanover location first, and then found the same car down the street at this store. The Hanover location let us leave to test drive the Pembroke's car, sure "we would be back to get theirs." We get to Pembroke, and the car is inside in the show room all pretty-looking and clean. I tell them the deal - I want to drive their car, I told them the sticker price of the other car, and what they were going to give me for the trade. The sales guy said "lets go over the numbers to make this work." FORTY FIVE minutes later they still 1) wanted me to pay the 2k more for their car, and 2) basically called me a liar that the other store wouldn't give me what I told them they would for my trade. ALL THIS TIME the car THEY WANT ME TO SIGN FOR is still sitting behind the glass doors on the showroom floor. I don't even know if the car starts!! Dishonest and deceptive tactics from beginning to end. After agreeing with the salesman on a price, the contract showed a $7000 increase for "optional extended warranty". Which nobody EVER mentioned. The car had a "Certified" sticker on the windshield, certified by who?, certainly not McGee. After multiple phone calls to the dealership, where I was passed from sales to finance and finally to the general manager (each of whom blamed the previous department). We went back to the dealership and spoke to the general manager and, believe it or not, he tried to justify the the ridiculous price increase. I helped my girlfriend buy a car about a month earlier and her experience was terrible! We were both amazed at how easygoing, informative, and up front the salesperson and manager were at McGee. The Good: -- Ryan, my salesman, was awesome. Came in on off day to get me in my car, I smelled something strange so he drove it on highway with windows down and had service dept. clean out car meticulously, and smell went away. -- price is very low and no haggling over it, makes things easier. -- no pressure when I test drove car THREE times before purchasing -- free carfax, good hours, no pressure, actually enjoyable! They are a scam. They prey on people. I went in trying to get a capital one loan because it was a capital one offer. They told me they would find me a great auto loan they convinced me to go with the company that they wanted me to go with, they forced me to sign up for a Company called auto pay plus stating that as long as I stayed signed up with auto pay plus and paid consecutively for six months and my credit would automatically go up 90 points not be able to refinance after 60 days they called as a stairstep program. fraud alert!!! no such program exists. I ended up with four hard credit inquiries on my credit report I ended up paying $500-$700 a month for my car. This ultimately almost put me in financial ruin. It didn't boost my credit, which ended up lower than before and they weren't able to help me refinance telling me I can Walk into any bank or credit union and ask to refinance. And "sorry about that" was the only response for all of this f***ery. Dan is a scam artist. Do not trust him or the girl in the finance office. Horrible business. Do not trust these guys. To summarize my experience with these guys: 1. When you take a look at the car, if there are some things that need repair or cleaned (for eg a stain on the carpet or some dirt sticking on the body) the sales person will say they will take car when delivery but this does not happen, the car will be delivered as is to you. even in spite of several phone calls they refuse to do it and say it was fine when delivered. 2. Do not take their extended warranty, its just a gimmick to tally out the real price of the car if they are throwing some crazy internet offers. Its not even worth, i took the extended warranty to a toyota delaer out of state since i moved out and they dont even accept it. 3. Try to take your own credit union loan, even if your credit score is good they give the same APR for every body which is provided by PCU around 4.5% which is crazy. They were very nice during the purchasing of course but the next day the owner and finance director didn't even say hello to me. There were a couple of dings and bangs that they said they would fix and after having my car for a week did minimal work to fix it. I spoke to the manager after and of course he wasn't as nice about fixing anything as he said their shopped wasn't equipped even though he promised to fix. Almost 3 months after buying the vehicle it turned off in the middle of the highway, I had to have it towed. Ends up both speed sensors were bad. Along with this Anti-freeze and break fluid were low. I wish there was a way to give a negative rating! I found a beautiful Jeep SRT 8 online that they had on their lot. I drove over an hour to McGee's Superstore to test drive this car - once on the lot (about 20 minutes) going through the Jeep and checking everything out I had to go into the store myself to get some assistance as no one had come out to assist me. Once inside, "Rick James" the biggest sleezeball I've ever encountered, tried talking me out of this vehicle - obviously pre-judging me because I walked in wearing shorts and a t-shirt and not a business suit on a hot, Sunday afternoon! He kept telling me that this is what going to be a $700-$800 payment every month and that it would be much too high for me! I had been doing my research on THIS vehicle and knew what I wanted - I knew what the payments would be and knew how much my trade-in was worth - I'm also VERY well aware of how much money my wife and I take home per year - So, I CERTAINLY wouldn't have been looking at a vehicle that I couldn't afford. Mind, you, I was already pre-approved for the loan prior to walking in...but did not tell him that because I didn't want them to screw me on the price - which from what I could already see of him, he would have done in a heartbeat... I asked to test drive the vehicle, however, he was more concerned about running my credit application - something I didn't want done prior to test driving the vehicle - because if for some reason, the car wasn't what I wanted, I wouldn't be getting anything there and I have no desire to have my credit run for no reason - I've been to MANY dealership and have test driven quite a few cars prior to them running my credit - but again, Mr. James had already judged me to be some broke punk - but according to him they "don't let people test drive Mustangs, Challengers and SRT's" because they're expensive! Which I find funny because they didn't even have any of those on their lot besides the ONE SRT that I had wanted to test drive! I have NEVER had an experience like this at ANY other car dealership in my entire life - this guy could take $10,000 off the cost of this SRT and I still wouldn't do business with him - I highly recommend you people at McGee's Superstore not pre-judge the people that walk into your business - you lost a sale today sir - all it would have taken was a test drive, a handshake and some basic human decency - I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Horrific experience. I honestly don't know how they're still in business. I bought a car here and had a fine experience with the car buying process. Bought a car that only had one previous owner and only 30,000 miles. But it all went down from there. After a year of ownership, the car continued to have problems and the McGee dealership said the car was unsafe to drive. They weren't willing to take a trade in, weren't willing to tow it to the Chevy dealership to help me get my car problems diagnosed, and were downright RUDE. Not to mention there was a "salesman" there with his head down on his desk asleep. I had AAA tow my car to Best Chevrolet and they were fantastic. They fixed my car and offered me a very fair trade in if I still wanted to trade it in. I would not recommend McGee to anyone! read more

I wish it was possible to give this place negative stars. First of all, when I got there they immediately tried to sell me a car when I made it clear over the phone that I was only looking. Then when I told them what car I came to see they kept me sitting there for twenty minutes before they came out and told me that they "lost the key". I should have left then and there because it only got worse. After they explained that they couldn't locate the key I went to test drive a car only two years newer than the one I wanted. So when we got back I agreed upon a set monthly payment, after the credit check was already done and papers were signed and I had already made a down payment already. (WHICH TOOK ANOTHER FORTY MINUTES) At this point I'm furious and they come back after making me wait another fifteen minutes and tell me that they can only give me a monthly payment of one hundred more dollars a month more than previously agreed upon. So for another TWENTY MINUTES I repeatedly tell them that I have to leave for work because I'm going to be late but no one is around, all in all I want to say this whole process took two hours but it didn't end there. I was told I would receive a refund of my money within one day, but never received it. And I also told them that I wanted to cancel the whole transaction but the next day received NUMEROUS text messages from the sales representative trying to get me to buy the car after I told them to leave me alone and to please give me my money back. They helped us but until this place is put out of business, no one is safe. The used cars are mostly rental cars -- 2009's with the HIGH mileage of a 3-4 year car. Also, nowhere, on any car on the lot, is a price listed. They say the online prices are what "they paid for the car" -- so the last thing they tell you is the price -- and they seem to make that up out of thin air. They disarm you with lots of small talk and buying takes hours -- sometimes all day. Someone should do a documentary on this place.
