Very solid choice! My daughter started with a Bacardi Limon mojito and said it was the best she ever had. For apps she had the French Onion Soup which was very good, and I ordered the Philly Queso Dip which was amazing! It comes with both toasted pretzel slices and nacho chips, but the pretzel pieces are terrific with it. You can also ask for just one or the other if you prefer. For dinner my daughter had the sirloin (Sunday special) which was very tasty but somewhat hard to cut. The garlic mashed were pretty good but more dry and chunky than creamy. The corn bread was excellent as well! I had the Mixed Combo appetizer (pulled pork sliders, onion rings, chicken tenders, fried mozzarella) for dinner and it was a lot of food for a reasonable cost. I took a day trip to Ballys casino and was looking for a good place to get lunch. I found McGlynn's on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I had the French onion soup, which was delicious. Then the pub burger with a side of Mac and cheese. The burger was perfectly prepared and very tasty. The Mac and cheese was by far the best I've had in a long time. The bartender was average at best, and certainly didn't make a perfect pour of Guinness although the instructions are on the tap. Overall a nice place with delicious food. read more

I'm Glad that they do brunch now. Because I used to go to Maple, Dale. And they don't have early breakfast on Sunday anymore . I have to say, however, that my breakfast was simple and cold. I ordered 2 eggs over easy. And they were cold as well as the toast. the waiter made me feel like I was bothering him. That he had other things to do. And that was unfortunate because I've always had pretty good service there. my friend paid the bill with $30, the bill was only 21 and he asked her if she wanted any change and I thought that was quite an assumption for him. There was no coffee top-up without asking or extra napkins without asking. all in all. It was kind of a disappointing visit, but I will go back because I've always had good luck at mcglynns I'll just make sure that I don't have that server. I can't even support one star but that's all the options allowed. This was not Mr. Ashby's best work today. Went to have lunch and not the first time as we are kind of semi regulars there. Today Sunday 4-2 was abysmal. 1st. No silverware till we begged for it and then only offered enough for the children. The adults were told it's a finger food so you really don't need any do you? 2nd. Refills were never offered for overly iced soft drinks of choice. 3rd. The brunch menu leaves off the best foods, like soup and burgers. 4th. Waitress was almost non-existent throughout the meal process. 5th. Ordered nachos for adults in the party. Can you say disgusting? Oily, canned chili, canned jalapenos, and the chips were disgusting. This entire meal was disgusting except for the one child's pancake. It will be a long time before I return as I explore other options for lunch and dinner. Mr. Ashby can do better, and he should if he wants to retain customers. The woman next to me could not even get her desert and finally gave up and left. In addition, she was elderly and cold as the fans were directly over her head. If I could see it, shouldn't the manager or waitstaff. Shame on this place for this. The drinks are watered down and the appetizers are nowhere near gourmet or even subpar gourmet food. I had a Cherry Bourbon Old Fashioned drink that basically just tasted of cherry cola and was far too sweet. The Irish Mule I had was basically just ginger beer. The Philly cheese dip was a bad idea, as I was immediately in the bathroom less than an hour later, and it was not pleasant. The outdoor seating only looks over the parking lot. So I've been to Mcglynn's a few times now and every time I really want to like it but it just is bad. The service has been bad every time... this past time which sparked the review I asked the server which type of fries to get: the house cut or the normal. She replied, "idk (sic) I'm not a potato person" at an Irish restaurant... then when the food came out the wrong fries were delivered. The server blamed the expo and then delivered undercooked replacements. Now to the sandwiches we ordered: they were dry, poorly assembled and not good. Neither of us ate over half of our meals and our server never came to check on us enough to try to make things better. The best thing we had was the complimentary popcorn. I wish this pub could be a great place but right now it is just very sub par and not a fun experience. read more

I love the food here but not a fan of the rustic stew.. However, this is a pub, and the main dining area is very loud, but the view is spectacular - it overlooks Silver Lake, and you might even be as lucky as my sister and I to see a Bald Eagle swoop down to take a fish! If you have a group and want to talk, I'd recommend going to the other area if it's open. Much quieter there. In warmer months, they also have a patio. read more

I have been coming here for years and tonight was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I received a burger that was pink in the middle despite asking for it to be well done. When I complained, they did replace it with wings, however the manager never came over. Normally when there's an issue with service, a manager comes over to discuss and rectify the problem. I didn't see a manager until I was leaving. And she still said nothing to me. She came out of the office looking very disheveled like she just woke up from a nap. What kind of example does this set for staff? If the manager on duty is unkempt and careless, the staff will be the same. McGlynns should seriously consider who they're leaving in charge as these types of situations can bring an otherwise excellent establishment downhill. read more

Let me first start off by saying. You are planning on eating hear, try getting a table outside or all the way in the back of the Restaurant so you can get a great view of the River. I came hear to eat after the Nascar race at the Monster mile. Desided it was close by. When I arrived I thought the outside was nice and the river was right there. When walking in got seated asap, and that is when most seem to fall apart. The service was downright horrible, I had to ask someone that works there if they would take my order. I waited 25 min to be served, when the server came over, he told me he's sorry, out drinking to much last night, I kinda didn't have no words for that, when he told me. So I then got a soda, order my appetizer, fried pickle, and for an entree, I ordered a half rack of ribs with coleslaw and french fries, first off I always thought that appetizer came out before the entree, we'll in my case the entree came out first, and the server tells me he will be back with the appetizer, I told him forget it I don't want it, When it comes to my food. It was delicious, ribs and fries done perfect and coleslaw some of the best I've had. So no complaints when it comes to the food. I just wish they had much better service. The prices are average like any other restaurants u are planning on getting a dinner at. Would I come back again? I don't know. Service needs to get better then mabe I'll think about it. read more

Came here for dinner and we were seated at a booth with a really good view of Silver Lake. Our waitress wasn't that attentive but we were about to get our drinks and food pretty quickly. I ordered the crab cake sandwich which I was afraid wouldn't be that great (since when I order crab cakes at a pub it's a hit or miss). The crab cake was pretty good! Lots of meat. The fries were really crispy and good as well. My friend got the French onion sandwich which was pretty good as well. She also got the chocolate cookie sandwich which had vanilla ice cream in the middle. The cookie was hard but the ice cream was pretty good. For starters these onions and peppers aren't sautéed, and the placement/quantity is pathetic. Two uncooked pepper strips and three raw onion strips on ok side of the burger. Secondly the cheese is hardly melted and the food isn't very warm. Very disappointed. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. McGlynn's Pub has good service, a good look, a great location, and an overall good feel...for Dover. First the Cons. The floor when you walk in is somewhat sticky. If it was 11pm on a Friday I'd just think the party started early. This was around 1pm on Sunday. There wasn't a crush of customers to excuse the establishment from slacking on their upkeep. The restroom smelled like a public restroom. Again, it was 1pm with light "traffic", so why doesn't it smell like flowers? Pro: Enjoyable servers. Multiple people came forward to help our party of three. Our server was attentive without hovering. I had a refill of my drink delivered about 3 seconds before I realized I needed a refill of my drink. Happiness all around! The food was decent, but uninspired. The stuffed burger was a hollow ball with a tiny filling. They could have easily done an integrated core with a 100% beef outer layer. The fries were topped with old bay, which is standard (and was done well), but it lacked the zing of an easily made house spice. I would absolutely go back. I'd go back sooner if McGlynn's went beyond the norm. read more

Jordan was our waitress and for her kindness alone I would give 5 stars. She brought extra napkins without being asked. She was not able to answer alcoholic questions because she is not 21, but she was still able to get enough of an understanding of what my mom wanted to bring a beer she loved. She was able to bring my mom a meal that she loved and actually finished. She was fabulous and she deserves a gold star. I had the Mahi bites which were a special for the day and honestly they were my favorite thing I ordered. They were cute little bites of fish and smaller than tator tots she each piece was one bite. I also ordered the beyond burger and it was my first cheeseburger and I didn't like it, but I don't think that reflects on the kitchen and staff because I just wasn't used to those flavors. Recently visited McGlynn's after the Nascar raced based on the recommendation from a local resident and were were not disappointed. To start, we ordered the Philly queso dip which comes with chips and pretzel bites. I'm pretty sure if he could, my bf would have licked the dish that's how much he liked it. For meals, he ordered the stuffed burger which he also very much enjoyed and I ordered the Mahi tacos. My only complaint was I wished there was more Mahi in them since it was so good! A few people I was working with recommended this place and the menu looked great and it was close by my hotel. I sat at the bar (only 2 other people sitting at the very large bar). The bartender was very friendly. I ordered the clam corn chowder (which was delicious), fried Brussels sprouts (also delicious) and a glass of Josh Cellar Cabernet. I never got the glass of wine and didn't bother ordering an entree. The food I had was great and the atmosphere was fun. I'm bummed the service was what is was, which is why the 3 star vote.
