Place was packed, beer was served ice cold! We ordered the special which was Indian Curry Chicken served with rice not allot of chicken but the flavor was delicious, a little spicy but good. I ordered fish and chips and they were served tooo well done, the waitress realized that and took them back had the cook look at the lm and agreed they should not be served. So I order thickly sliced corned beef sandwich, wow so delicious. Corned beef was lean and so flavorful. Music goes until 9:00 and it is nice from inside as well. read more

Went for dinner last night ... spoiler alert ... unimpressed. My meal was OK but just OK. I had penne pasta with grilled chicken. Did not live up to what I would expect for a good meal. Darn it. I really wanted to like this close-by eatery. I watched it under construction and had high hopes. Alas, my hopes were dashed. My fish and chips were good. ( I had a salad instead of chips) But the portions were too small. I ate my dinner in 3 minutes, including my skimpy salad. Wife reports her buttermilk popcorn chicken were too few, and too small. She doesn't like dark meat and some were. Her salad was also about a fist size. The meals here are expensive. I expected more for the premium price. Our server was great. My beer was tall and frosty. We loved this restaurant. It's located in Sawgrass Grove. We were seated promptly out on the patio and our server was so sweet. I ordered unsweetened tea and finally, a tea with some oomph! Awesome. My husband ordered the steak and lobster and declared it perfect. Our 16 yr old ordered the fish and chips and ate every speck of it. I got the pictured salmon cakes that came with a spring salad and mashed potatoes. I have to applaud the blood orange vinegrette dressing. Light and just a bit of tang. It was lovely. The salmon cakes were filling and hot and mashed potatoes were deeeeluxe. Inside, it's dark wood with lots of plaid accents reflecting the Scottish theme. Went for a Scottish feel and surely was taken back to a pub in Scotland. The menu had Scottish classics like fish and chips but it was so hot that I decided to go for a chopped salad and for 11.00 added a salmon. It was good not the best salmon but good. The salad had a combination of greens and candied walnuts and cranberries. The dressing was really good. But the star of the dinner was the sticky taffy pudding! It was warm, delicious and the caramel flavors mixed with the soft cake were to die for. Next time I will start with dessert! It was so good I didn't get a chance to take a picture. read more

First dinner ever at McGrady's as we are new in town. Fantastic look and feel and the food was excellent. Our server Cullen ( a Sheldon doppelgänger " was polite , informed and attentive w/o being intrusive. Amazing beer and Scotch selections. I had the McGrady's red ale and it was very good. Dinner selections included Guinness haddock fish & ships, mussels appetizer with garlic bread was out of sight. Finally I had the Leg of Lamb special which was hot, flavorful and balanced with a perfect touch of fresh mint. I highly recommend this place. Great ambience, crowd, staff and food. I'm visiting the Villages in Florida. One of my brothers favorite things to do is to stop for cocktails at a new place each time I come down for a visit. McGrady's is so Irish cool. There are numbered mugs along the ceiling's and some on the walls. You can buy your own beer mug. The bar is very clean and pleasant. The staff are friendly. Service, the lady was nice and did a good job. Food, I had the Cajan Chicken Sandwich. Absolutely the smallest chicken breast I have ever seen. Served is a hamburger bun and the breast could not even cover the bread. Taste was ok. My wife had the Grill Corned Beef Sandwich. She enjoyed it. She stole a few fries from me since the side dish of fries was very small. People we were with had some kind of beef sandwich. He said the beef was very tough and would never order it again. I am only giving this place 3 stars because of the server. She never told me about the specials of the day. Talked about their food items. And for the most part only came by two times. To say she was an attentive waitress, would never be attached to her. She just was not there. The only way I heard about specials was by the waiter that was taking care of the other group of people. He was very attentive, and if anything, he should be helping my waitress get her act together. My waitress saw that I was done eating and did take my left overs away. However, it took 15 minutes for her to come back (I timed her) to give me my bill. After the lack of attention, and all I rounded up my bill to the next dollar for her tip. The food was quite good, which is the only reason why they do have any stars. I like the idea that it is a pub and that the bacon on my burger was from their country and Not mine. Yesterday my husband and I had dinner there. The drinks were watered down and full of pumped greased cream on top. The food is so bad. The fisherman's platter came as a hospital dish with 4 shrimps, 4 scallops and a tiny piece of fish it could hide in the palm of one's hand. I had a chicken stroganoff and when it came I asked which kind of food the waiter thought it was. She said: Chicken stroganoff. I told her I had Stroganoff my whole life and that was just a pasta with sauce on top, no chicken, no mushrooms. She said: "This is how we do it." I tasted and I sent it back and didn't want to order anything else. I figured this place is desperately trying to make things as poorly as possible to cut costs for them. 'We'd NEVER set our feet on this disgusting establishment. Yes, it's a nice pub, but don't eat there. It's pure scam! We were HORRIFIED of the lack of honesty and scam. Beware! Perhaps if you order a beer it will be OK. I wouldn't recommend anything else. Perhaps a group drinking beer and some fries would rate this place better. We thought that the quality was good, but the quantity was underwhelming. The domestic draft beer was $6 which is very pricey for the Villages. Went to Sawgrass to listen to some music, wanted an appetizer of some sort. Checked out the to go menu with the nice hostess then ordered the pretzel from the bartender. Here's where the customer service skills are lacking, bartender seemed like it was an effort to take a to go order. It would have been a 4 Star review if he showed some hospitality. McGrady's Pub is a cool Irish Pub themed place with all the interiors you would imagine if you were in Ireland. They have indoor seating and outdoor patio areas. Outdoor seating can see and enjoy the live music at Sawgrass Groove. Server who helped us out was very friendly and knowledgeable. She even suggested a couple ideas to customize our sandwiches and drinks. She was terrific. The food was ok. Good but ok. Nothing too special. Typical bar food. I had the chicken sandwich and our server suggested I take the bacon from my kids BLT and add it to my sandwich. It definitely added a good touch of flavor to the sandwich. Fries were cooked perfectly. Can't complain about the fries. 1 kiddo had the BLT but only wanted Ham & Cheese, so I can't truly judge the BLT. They were excellent at accommodating the request. The other kiddo ordered a Ceasar Salad and a side of mashed potatoes. Both were good. Wife got the Scotch Steak and Onion Baquet. She enjoyed it but it was thick meat, like a steak, not thinly sliced. She enjoyed the flavor. Truly it for yourself. Good stuff, fun place. read more

Our server was very quick and attentive. She made sure our orders were correct and delivered promptly. For a sports type bar it was quite surprising about the selection of menu items available. For the five of us we were in and out within a very short time frame. Will be going back again. Upgraded to onion rings as a side and they were overdone and fried in nasty greasy old oil. They came out super greasy and dark brown. For god's sake change your oil frequently! For a year I have anticipated this place opening. Super exited for a good restaurant nearby with bar food. What a huge disappointment! The menu is absolutely horrible!!! Not only that, it's super expensive, which I can deal with if the menu is good. I don't know what the Morse family was thinking. When it first opened 3 or so weeks ago there was a line out the door. Now that word had gotten out that the food and drinks are mediocre at best and the prices out of line for what you get, there isn't any issue getting a table. This place has the opportunity to be a great neighborhood pub/bar, I hope they reevaluate before it too late. read more

First off, our server Stephanie was attentive, charming, and delightful. We sat in the outdoor dinning area, so we could enjoy the music. Unfortunately, the jazz band called it quits early do to the cool weather. Good solid fish and chips. Nicely done. As you'll see from my other reviews of restaurants in The Villages, food is hit and miss with more misses then hits. McGrady's delivered good food, great service, lovely atmosphere, at a fair price. Guess who ever dreamed up this bad imitation of a Scottish pub and food has never been to Scotland! Nothing on the menu is "Scottish" unless you feel salmon and fish and chips hail from Caledonia! I'm not talking haggis either (which btw is quite good. I had it at two diff places in Scotland and it was delicious). How about some meat pies, maybe a dish or two with venison and lamb. Shepherds pie isn't exactly Scottish but at least it's from the UK! C'mon guys, show some imagination and study the cuisine of the country you're supposedly representing. Festooning the building with plaid does not make the atmosphere "Scottish", it makes it plaid. And last but not least, don't overcharge for mediocre and poorly executed food. Food prices extremely high for mediocre food and small portions. Happy hour for beer and wine only and I believe for only 2 hours. A prior review talked about a surly bartender and assistant. Must be the one I have dealt with before. I once accidently knocked a drink on the floor. He berated me and yelled at me to pick it up. I am 70 years old with knee problems which he did not take into consideration and which he should have based on the age of his clientle. Their are other incidences I've had with him and another bartender at McGradys. And I know I'm not the only person who has had this experience because I have talked to other people who have had similiar experiences. When I moved down here I never expected to be treated like this. When I go to the country clubs I am greeted with a smile. The bartenders talk to me in a pleasant respectful manner. read more
