Back in January, during the big snowstorm, I got stuck in front of my house for three days. After finally getting unstuck, I was on my way to work, and as I turned onto Blairs Ferry from the highway ramp, my car died. A police officer came up behind me and insisted that I move my car off the overpass because it was a busy intersection. I panicked and didn't know what to do, so I had the car towed to McGrath for inspection. Unfortunately, my car sat at McGrath for a week and a half before they even looked at it. They didn't communicate with me at all--I had to call multiple times just to get any updates. Eventually, they quoted me $1,700 for an oil change, a battery installation, a coolant line replacement, and a coolant flush. When I finally got my car back after another week, the engine cover was missing, and when I checked the oil, it was dirty, so they hadn't even changed it. My car worked for about two weeks, but then it completely broke down--it wouldn't start or do anything. Two friends, one of whom is a certified mechanic, helped me replace the starter and the fuel pump. At no point did anyone mention that I would need a brand new motor. After a few more weeks of my car not working, my landlord had it towed back to McGrath. It sat there for another week or two before they even looked at it again, and once again, they failed to communicate with me. I had to call them, and I was initially quoted around $1,400 for repairs. Then, the guy on the phone corrected himself and said it would actually cost $14,000. I've only had this car for about a year, and I bought it from Craftworks with no issues. The car had only 135,000 miles on it and was in great condition. Now, it's sitting in my garage, and I still owe $11,000 on it. I do Uber Eats and Uber for work, but I haven't been able to work since January because of this, which means I can't afford a new car. I haven't been able to visit my family since Thanksgiving, and my parents are not doing well. I'm feeling stuck and unsure of what to do because I'm being quoted $14,000 for a repair, but I haven't even been clearly told what's wrong with the car. I suspect something happened to it while it was at McGrath, and I feel like I'm losing everything. read more

Husband went to get an oil change and made that clear to the service person. Somehow, I came out with over $1000. Not the most honest place. When I called the manager, he basically said that this stuff was approved by my husband and that he had two of his staff that said my husband approved it. After talking to my husband, he said he did not approve it nor would he if they told him the cost of it. Me nor the manager were there, but yet he couldn't verify or tell me if the service team got any signatures for the services they completed or verify if the service team stated the total or even if they stay at the total correct 9 hundred is a lot different 9.00 Again, we were there for an oil change nothing more we did not approve of any other services. So what is the proof that it was truly approved besides his employees stating that it was approved prior to completion. Most honest places will get signatures for you or approval prior to completion to avoid this discrepancy. In my opinion, this is not the most honest company. We have purchased vehicles from McGrath and have had no issues but as far as the service goes, highly recommend staying far away unless you go in for something and you want to spend quadruple the amount you intended to spend. read more

We were having some issues with our vehicle and figured we should bring it in to a dealer vs our regular shop. We've had ok luck with them in the past, but I have heard a lot of horror stories about them. Regardless, McGrath Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram is the closest dealer, so we figured we'd bring it here and hope for the best. Called in to let them know what issues we were having. Then they took all of my contact information down and got a mid-morning appointment scheduled. Got it towed to the shop the day of, but well before the appointment. Hadn't received a call towards the end of the day so I figured I'd call in to see if there was a status update and they said they hadn't looked at it because they didn't have my contact information and didn't know what was going on with it (good thing I called in). I gave all of that information to the person who scheduled my appointment, so that was annoying, but not the end of the world. They got our vehicle diagnosed the next day and told us that the starter was shot and needed replaced ($1,000) and coolant leaked into the engine, and they believe the engine block is cracked ($10,000). They said they could take the engine apart ($2,000) and it may just need the cylinder heads replaced ($6,000-$8,000) but they were pretty sure there was a crack in the engine block. I'm no mechanic or car expert, but what I took that as, is them telling us that we will just be better off getting a new vehicle. We were really not wanting to have to get a new vehicle, so we started asking around and ended up getting our vehicle towed to a small ma and pop shop outside of town to get a second opinion, and also to get some more affordable prices. It took a couple days to get our vehicle checked out by the second shop, but they eventually called me back to let me know what they found out. First thing out of the mechanics mouth was "what kind of smoke did McGrath blow at you?" So, I told him exactly what they said. After I told him, he laughed and told me the starter is fine and the engine works just fine. There was something wrong with the fuse box. He was able to put a temporary fix on it and was able to start the vehicle and drive it around with no issues. He ordered the part and had the vehicle fixed for less than $400. Would McGrath have eventually found out what was actually wrong? Maybe??I can't imagine the headache we would have had, and the amount of time and money we would have wasted getting to that point though. Moral of the story: don't fully trust these guys and don't hesitate to get a second opinion. Sure, we had to spend money on getting it towed again and getting it re-diagnosed, but that cost us a hell of a lot less than if we left it in McGrath's hands to repair. Really seemed like they just wanted to sell us another vehicle by throwing out all these high repair prices at us. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Never going to McGrath for a new car or maintenance again. If I have to take it to a dealer again in the future, I will pay the extra money to get it towed to a shop further away to avoid McGrath. read more

I took my charger to this dealership, spent about 2k on a timing belt, which I know was on me, but I thought nothing of it. Drive my charger for a few days, then problems that I've never had kept popping up, first off my ignition coils were lose as hell so I had to tighten that down myself. When I got my car back from the dealership my car stalled out at EVERY single stop sign. My adviser did an amazing job. But the work that the mechanic did to my car was not so great. I have bolts missing and I had to fix up my car my on my own. I won't not recommend taking your dodge or ram here. read more

Not only did they give me a quote for the repair (with the understanding that it is not an exact quote until they know exactly what needs to be repaired), they also informed that there was still a manufactures warranty on this item. All information that would have been useful to get from McGrath. Understand that when I was on the phone at McGrath I asked the person I was speaking to if I could talk to someone that knew more and could help me more with my specific request. She told me she knew what she was talking about and talking to someone else wouldn't help me. I also told her that I thought the policy to not give out a quote without charging me $150 first was out of line and that I would be leaving negative reviews on the internet so other people knew to stay away and go elsewhere, and she gleefully replied: "Go ahead and do that!". I, like many people, had a terrible viewpoint on McGrath before going in to buy my car. We have had negative interactions with them in the past when looking at cars. I had so many people tell me not go buy a car through them. My Ford Escape was totaled in an accident and I was in need of a vehicle, when looking around at all the local (an non-local) dealerships you couldn't beat the price on vehicles that McGrath had. So I went for it. I whole heartedly believe that the right salesperson can make or break it. With that being said, Spencer Chaney gets my 5 stars! Chrysler or Uconnect did an over the air update to my Jeep that I had no control over and could not say no to. I started getting intermittent radio, Bluetooth, heater control problems where I would need to turn the car off once in awhile for the system to reboot. This would happen maybe once a week Took it to McGrath, they tried to reload software which completely killed the console only giving manual control of heat. They originally told me I needed to pay $700 for a new unit. I pushed back and they got that down to $200 They were all very professional and nice, my problem is they were stuck in the middle as I was. I understand if something breaks, it happens but when a company forces a software update on you and that breaks your car there should be no charge to get it fixed. McGrath deserves to get paid for their work but that should have been covered by Unfortunate after searching the web this issue seems to be happening to a lot of Jeep / Chrysler owners I do want to be clear and make sure everybody understands the dealership was nothing but professional everybody was nice and they push jeep to discount my costs. First they couldn't find a problem, then they said it was fixed, and now it's still a problem. I also couldn't believe when my new vehicle was prepped for pickup that the sticker residue was still on the inside windows and it was dirty and full of dust on the inside. Took my 2003 Pontiac Grand AM in to get a quote on repairs from where I got rear ended, note that the car ran perfectly fine when I dropped it off. After I picked the car up and barely started and ran terribly and died right as I got back to work, just a short drive away. After some investigation it was found that some of the spark plugs were so loose that they could be removed by hand and that two of the boots on the spark plugs were on backwards. I can not definitively prove that someone at McGrath did this to my car as I don't have before photos or anything, I do know it looked before and how bad it looked and ran after I picked it up. I will never be going back and I will tell others to do the same. I can happily say that my car is now running fine, no help to McGrath. Caught them in a lie saying they fixed it when our sales guy said it doesn't need fixed. When they brought the truck bad it broke down and had to be towed back to shop. Only 1 stars cause the salesmen were nice. Otherwise they over charged us and lied to us. And now are refusing to fix the situation. Only went with McGrath cause they were the only dealership that would honor the correct online pricing. They burned us in the past and I guess we should have known better to go back. In 2011 they sold us a lemon, then the car we replaced it with was way over priced. In 2013 we were looking at a Dodge Dart and they ran our credit without us filling out a credit app, then they ran it for 7 hard inquires for a vehicle we never bought, dealers are only suppose to do soft inquires until a purchase is made. As a result our credit took a huge hit and made us look bad to other dealers so we almost couldn't buy any car. Finally in 2018 there was 3 rebates on the table and were included in our negotiations but when it came to the paperwork they weren't included. We qualified for all 3 rebates but they chose not to honor them. And when I tried contacting the dealer about a refund they said too bad. read more

Not only did they change numbers around and "mess up the paperwork" after we'd already been driving our new vehicle for a week but the salesman TOUCHED MY BOOB. They gave us our vehicle back but we are still trying to get back out down payment from the other vehicle. Since moving back to town I have always heard negative things about McGrath so I had tried to avoid them. When Mickey closed I was forced to use them for warranty work. I figured I would give them a chance and see for myself. My transmission went out and they replaced in a timely and professional manner. It was under warranty so I didn't have to pay a penny. Soon after, though, I started smelling exhaust with the windows rolled up. It got really bad when it turned cold so it was random and hard to duplicate. I brought it to three different mechanics and one finally they noticed a bolt missing right above the transmission. I asked all three and each said it had to be when the transmission was replaced. No other good explanation. I brought it to McGrath and they denied it could have been them, but they would fix it for 200 dollars (no benefit of the doubt, no discount). So I brought it elsewhere and they fixed it for 100. I just get the feeling McGrath is all about the dollars and less about the doing the right thing and have a good reputation. update: McGrath called and tried to make it right. I do appreciate the follow up. Its possible my experience was an isolated event. New update: My tranny is going out again. I still have a warranty through Dodge so I have to still use them while I own this van. It jerking badly and its noticeable if you drive more than a couple minutes (same symptoms as last time). I scheduled an appointment. I begged them to DRIVE it. They instead took it back to the shop and ran tests on it with their computer and couldn't find anything wrong with it. They assured me they had driven it. I should add this process took 2 hours!!!! As I pulled out it immediately got "jerky". Through the whole process I felt condescended too, like I was bother them or something. I should add that to kill time I talked to a sales guy about a particular SUV with a particular feature. I knew they had to because I looked at it the Sunday before (but they were closed). He walked away to "search" their inventory for it. He came back and said they didn't have one at any of their stores. I googled it later and found it. He was a nice guy and all but I don't understand how they can get everything wrong... Buy a $40k car and nobody wants to help.. the day after I got my challenger I had plastics dragging off the bottom. Called salesman, service, salesman, and then service again and still nobody wanted to do anything about a 5 minute fix. Luckily the lady that knew nothing about it at the counter when I drove in called the shop manager and I got that fixed. Still wondering why it's been weeks to hear back about my wheel bearing that I complained about.. like I said seems like nobody wants to do their job and help. AND they sold me a tire with screws, and yes I say screws because there is more than 1 through the tire that was sold with the car. Not a big selling point but it's the concept of a faulty tire that was given to me in a deal. I would never wish a McGrath experience on my worst nightmare. Im in disbelief of the way this business fends off their job, and it's not one person.. because nobody I've spoken to in the last month has reached back out to me. Today I get a call saying the bank wants bank records etc. I dropped of some this morning but it wasn't enough so dropped off more earlier. Still don't know if it's enough. I'm at the point that if they call me again I just want my old car back and the 500 dollars I put down on the newer car. Do not use this dealer unless you want a headache. read more

Had to buy my second new car in a year (husband and I both drove 15 year old beaters that finally gave out) and had recently had a terrible experience at another local dealership. My husband wanted a particular model and color car, and Pat McGrath was the only local dealer with that car in stock. My experience was far and away better than I was expecting. The salesmen were polite, low-pressure, and smarm-free. We got the car we wanted at an excellent price. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was that the "after purchase" paperwork took an inordinately long time and was full of add-on sales pitch after sales pitch. I expect that to happen, because I know that's a big profit area for dealers, but it was like a marathon, and we were exhausted by the time we went home. Having said that, when they tried to upsell and we said no, there was no pushy argument. Things were explained thoroughly. They were very upfront, honest, and friendly. Not impressed...booked an appointment, but was not told the address for the service, didn't realize they had more than 1 location, ok fine, got me in anyway at the Dodge service shop. Was told the vehicle would be done by 3 or 3:30. Called at 2:00 to check, was told should be done by 5. Called at 2:45, hold for 5+ mins and decided to hang up, 3rd call at 3:15 and was told the vehicle wasn't worked on, AT ALL, because it needed more than just the alignment I asked for. Coordinator who did tell me that had ZERO clue what it needed to get fixed. No call from the coordinator I left the vehicle with, turns out he left early. Arrived to pick-up the car by 3:45 and the mechanic had left also... no notes on the repair ticket as to what it needed. Garbage left in the car, book track on the floor mat. Seems like someone was in a big rush to start the weekend. First and last time I'll be using McGrath service. read more

McGrath is just more car sales man. They are only interested in making sales. Came in and let them know what I was interested in and what I could afford. He ignored everything I said as if I will just suddenly have the money I just told him I didn't have. The whole process took so long because of his sales man games. The "oh let me talk to my manager to see if we can do something special for you" then they tried to bully me into taking the "super incredible deal" his manager came out and tried to shake my hand doing his very obvious assumptive close to corner me into accepting. This deal they were cutting me? Moving the loan length from 48 months to 60 months. Not a deal. Just shady tatics. They both neglected to say that's what they were doing. They really presented it like they were cutting down the price untill I asked how much off it was and they stuttered pretty damn hard and didn't even answer the question. I had to call them out on it before they admitted it. Shady. I understand sales I really do. But McGrath is all loud and proud about serving the community and caring and all that and it's crap. They are just interested in making the sale. read more

We finally found the perfect car for our daughter! So happy! We purchased it at Zimmerman Ford after my daughter spent 8 hours with McGrath, was approved for financing, gave a check for a deposit, put her plates on the new car, drove it home for the night, went back the next morning to give them the title only to be advised her financing fell thru. Of course they didn't give her check back to her, they said they would hold it because she could use it when they found her a car. I shouldn't be surprised they pulled the same crap two years ago too. I think the finance department is screwed up still. Not worried about the check we stopped payment on it so we are out $27.00 for that. Sad thing is we've bought several vehicles from here but the last couple years have been a big disappointment. I would NEVER recommend Pat McGrath Dodge to anyone. I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee in for a recall to be fixed but was still having brake issues, so I called to have them look at it. I explained that I drive 1 1/2 hours to get there so we set up a specific day and they said they'd have a car for me to take until mine was fixed. When I called that day (just to be safe) they said they didn't have a vehicle for me and made no effort to get me something. I even explained that my brakes aren't working properly and felt it was dangerous. I also had taken the afternoon off work to take the vehicle in. The service manager was suppose to call me and never did. I took my car to another dealership and they said my recall was done incorrectly! My husband and I have bought three vehicles from Pat McGrath in the past 6 years and will NEVER again!! read more
