Before notice hairline gap also area of weakness in the vertex
    Jay C.

Due to progressive hair loss and less than perfect results from another surgeon, I had a large gap between my hairline and the rest of my transplanted hair. I've included photos so you can see for yourself. This looked unnatural and awkward. The exact opposite of what you hope to achieve from a hair transplant. I resigned to wearing a hat again and wasn't sure how long I'd be stuck like this. I needed a relatively small number of grafts to fix it. Several other surgeons didn't want to bother helping me or wanted to charge me a high minimum fee. Furthermore my donor area was in bad shape and they didn't want to do the hard work of finding viable grafts. A friend received great results from Dr. McGrath so I contacted his office. At this point in my hair restoration journey I've been to a handful of different hair transplant doctors worldwide and I can say easily the entire team at McGrath medical provided the most compassionate and artistically superior result of them all. From the beginning his consultant Steve carefully reviewed my needs. It was more like talking to a friend than an employee. He understood exactly what I was going through and even offered alternative strategies to fill in the gap in case it wasn't convenient for me to fly into Austin to see Dr. McGrath (from California). But after seeing my friend's results and talking to both he and Dr. McGrath I knew I needed to prioritize finding the best Dr. Not the one who was closest to me. Another issue I had with other Dr.'s is they didn't seem able to spare even 5 minutes to listen to my concerns and what I hoped to achieve. Both via video consultation and in person Dr. M reassured me we'd take as long as necessary until we both had the same understanding of what I wanted to achieve and how it would be done. In addition the price was very reasonable. The day of surgery went very smooth. Through skill and artistry he extracted 1,500 grafts and filled in all the gaps. I felt no pain and was out of there quickly. The hard wait of several months for the hair to grow passed and I am now thrilled with the result. My hairline looks totally natural. No gap and no signs of having a hair transplant at all.  When you go to Dr. McGrath you not only are getting work done by an artist but by a physician with the highest level of ethics. Highly recommended.

My name is Lance Fuller and I am the author of the hair transplant blog and YouTube channel My Follicular Journey.com. Since I was 28 years old in 2014, I have had four hair transplant procedures performed on me; two large FUT/strip surgeries by another surgeon and two FUE procedures by Dr. McGrath. My blog features hundreds of photos, dozens of posts and videos of my recovery and progress from my four procedures, all of my research into hair restoration surgery, and what I have learned from this journey. When I first started this journey in 2012, Dr. Daniel McGrath's current patient educator Steve Cook was one of the first people I ever spoke with about hair transplants. Steve worked for another surgeon at the time and he immediately impressed me with not only his extensive experience of his own transplants but also treated me like a person, and not a commission. Given the type of industry where patient educators and hair surgeons make their living based on commissions and numbers of surgeries sold, it surprised me right away when I first spoke with Steve and he recommended I NOT get a transplant. Compared with so many surgical practices that push high-pressure sales pitches into making you think you'll be bald tomorrow and needed to book surgery yesterday, Steve was the first honest person I spoke with and always has looked out for the patient. Our first time speaking together was less of a consultation and more of a Master Class on why I was losing my hair, what I could do to stop it, and what I could realistically get and gain from having a hair transplant. Although Steve is a patient educator, he is much more of a patient advocate who makes sure if you decide to have a hair transplant, you get it done right the first time and do what you can to maximize your procedure's results. In 2017, I reached the final results from my 2014 and 2015 strip surgeries. My frontal hairline was lowered and straightened out, and my temporal peaks were also built out. I was going on 31 years old but looked considerably younger and was elated. Unfortunately due to my intense weight training habits in my 20s, my linear scar stretched to the extent that I could not cut my hair as short as I wanted and parts of my frontal hairline were a little too course for my liking. My follicular journey crossed the finish line when I had my first FUE procedure with Dr. McGrath. Dr. McGrath camouflaged my scar and softened the frontal hairline so that I could cut it much shorter than I previously could, and it looked great in time for my best friend's wedding later that year. Everything from the entire restoration plan, approach of the surgery, the experienced technicians staff, post-surgical care, periodic follow-ups, and my final result was a first-class operation. Dr. McGrath is a true specialist who offers all of the latest hair transplant procedures from FUT/strip, FUE, scar revisions, temporal peaks, PRP, and Exosome therapies. He is more than qualified and knows what he is doing as he is also the former president and diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. Now that I am in my mid 30s, I teach English as a Second Language and wear my hair much longer, there is even more emphasis on my frontal hairline. On 9 May 2022, I had my fourth and final surgery via FUE to further soften my frontal hairline. I was so impressed by the job Dr. McGrath did in revising my scar that I knew exactly whom to go to for this touch-up work. I don't necessarily endorse Dr. McGrath because there are many outstanding surgeons who are ABHRS-certified, but you can't go wrong with Dr. McGrath as his countless patients can attest that he is a true professional and craftsman who puts his patients first. If you would like to know more about my hair transplant journey, you can reach me at my blog, www.myfollicularjourney.com.

In the After photo I'm 10 years OLDER, but I actually look YOUNGER than I did Before

I've had hair transplant surgeries with 3 different surgeons, and my experience with Dr. McGrath was by far the best. From the consultation, to the hair line design, to the surgical recovery. Every part of the process is handled in a world-class manner, with extreme attention to detail, and real empathy for the patient. My experience with Dr. McGrath was clearly a success, and because of that many of my friends have had surgery with him as well. Each one has called me afterward ecstatic about their own results.

Re: Scalp Expert…read more Sarah B. is only one of two scalp experts in Austin to treat balding or dandruff. My hair started falling out in clumps after using conditioner purchased at Craig Piatti Salon, Shu Uemura Ashita supreme conditioner. Sarah took pictures of my scalp and examined it by zooming in to ascertain I had build up. She exfoliated my scalp using Oway products. Now she's focusing on rebuilding my hair so that it's thicker and fuller after being highlighted at Craig Piatti Salon. She said that postpartum, I should not have had my hair highlighted without rebuilding first. The texture of my hair changed postpartum and could not handle the same highlighting treatment as it did before pregnancy. I'm so glad that my hair is on its way back to fullness and thickness!

I wanted to create a color style that worked alongside my new white hairs that were growing in rather than jumping on the root touch-up train that requires being in the salon every two to four weeks. Together we came up with a plan to place a little balayage next to where the white hairs were growing in to add dimension and actually use the white hair as part of the overall look. I get so many compliments on my hair and haven't stressed about white hair since Sarah started coloring my hair! I'll also note that the color she uses smells like herbs vs. headachy chemicals and has left my hair healthier than former hair color formulas I've had used in other salons in the past. Sarah is phenomenal and I feel lucky to be her client!

Hell yes. I went to Elizabeth about once a month over the course of six months for a series of facials before I got married. In each session, she asked me how my skin had been acting, what kinds of activities I had been engaging in (good and bad, i.e., smoking), and created a personalized session for that appointment. She also educated me about the crappy face supplies that I had been using (without making me feel stupid) and got me started on an organic, gentle line of skin care that has done wonders for me. My face literally was glowing after every session. She is also EXCELLENT at waxing; my eyebrows look awesome. OH! And at about 5' 2", she totally adorable and not intimidating at all.

Yelpers have never done me wrong, so I called to book right away. My call was returned promptly and we discussed my wants/needs/options. I have never received a facial before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Orange Blossom does custom facials so Elizabeth said to come on in and we'd decide what was best. The location is in a little office park, but feels like a little old house inside. there are a couple of rooms and it is very peaceful. Elizabeth is as cute as a button, was very friendly, and instantly put me at ease. Once I wrapped up in a velvetly robe and tucked myself into the softest bed/table ever, she got to work. She decided on a deep cleanse, but did all sorts of stuff. We spoke briefly about my skin care routine and other than answer any questions I had (she was very patient, I had many, and was pretty nosy about the whole expereince), it was very relaxing. Whatever she did with paprika felt amazing, and I liked the mud mask and the facial massage. Ok, so I liked it all! I'd asked about a specific product and she introduced me to it at the end fo the session. It wasn't sale-sy at all (in fact, i'm wondering if or how she sells any product if the customer doesn't take the initative) and I got a great under eye product from Colorscience. Definitely a brand I'll look into since she gave me a sample of the Primer to try - which I did this morning - and love it! So my skin looks and feels fabulous. My pores are invisible and my face is seriously soft! This is definitely something I am going to have to save up for and do again!

The most recent time I went was to fix the Dysport I had received a couple weeks prior. I had received a text message for a promotional offer and decided to redeem it. At my original appointment, I requested an injector, Diane, and she was in the room with me, but was not the one actually injecting me. I ended up needing to go back to have Diane do a touch up because it was uneven. Diane was very kind and helpful, and she was able to fix my issue immediately. The one thing I wanted to address was the unprofessionalism of what seemed to be the manager. When I arrived, the young man at the front desk was very friendly, greeted me immediately, and offered me water. He let me know my provider would be with me shortly. 30 seconds later, a man came out of the office, looked at me, and said "is she all set?" to the front desk person, to which he replied "yes". The man walked over to the front desk person and asked who I was seeing, then proceeded to chastise him for a booking issue right in front of me. It was very inappropriate to be having that conversation in front of a client, and it seemed as though the man was treating the front desk person as if he was incompetent. It was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. The front desk person has always been nothing but kind and competent and I appreciate that he remembers me each time I come in.
