I will not be using this clinic or their services again. This doctor wanted me to travel to Mississauga for a follow up appointment and a different test after the rude exchange I've just had with this person? Review written by my girlfriend and posted on my account tl;dr lack of empathy, passive aggressively blames patient for his own recommended procedures, disregard for hygiene, did not even review patient's file before consultation. Full story: I went to Dr. McIntyre (OBGYN) and was diagnosed with adenomyosis. He told me that the only treatments were either to get a hormonal IUD or a hysterectomy, and did not respond very well to any questioning. I was in shock but booked an appointment for an IUD insertion a month later, and resorted to doing my own research about adenomyosis. Fast forward a couple weeks later, MCI Doctors RBC plaza calls me and says that he suddenly can't make it to the appointment and gave me a single date to reschedule. I am puzzled since he originally told me to book a date after my period, and now it seemed like the part of my cycle doesn't matter anymore, but fine -- at least I get to get the IUD inserted. On the day of the IUD insertion, he arrives more than 30 minutes late to the clinic (hence the low punctuality score). He strolls into the room and is completely clueless as to what I'm there for and needs to be reminded I'm there for an IUD insertion. He also says he needs to do a PAP smear, and takes one of the swabs (with an ungloved hand) out of the sterile package and just puts it on the uncleaned table. At this point I'm mildly horrified and stare at the swab, but too much in shock to say anything (and somewhat anxious about the IUD insertion). At his behest, I remove my shorts and get ready on the table. He (finally) puts on some gloves and does the PAP smear with the same swab he put on the table previously. It was only at this point that he expressed surprise at the fact I already had an IUD in (which needed to be removed, and a new one put in)... although this was all mentioned during the previous consultation. In my experience, before removal or insertion, the doctor should at least ask whether I had taken any painkillers or if I'm sensitive to pain, but he only told me to cough and yanked out the IUD extremely quickly. Now, adenomyosis is a condition where basically any movement/irritation to the uterus can be extremely painful, and I had taken 1200mg of ibuprofen before the appointment, but I was completely buckled over in pain. In a complete lack of empathy, he waves the removed IUD in front of my face (with no concern for any pain I was in) and quickly moves on to insertion. He did not ask whether I was okay, and simply says "you'll feel a pinch"... and proceeds to try -- and fail -- to insert the IUD 3+ times (last time I had gotten an IUD inserted, it had taken 1 try, and way less pain, so I question his ability). The process was so painful that I start breaking out in cold sweat, tears were coming to my eyes, I was visibly shaking, and had called out a few times as he was doing the insertion. At no point did he stop to confirm my condition. Finally he finishes and asks if I had any questions. My boyfriend (who had been beside me the entire time) asks whether it was normal for me to be in this much pain, and Dr McIntyre impatiently responds "We talked about this before" (he did not say ANYTHING about pain) and after a pause, "IUDs are like this. You chose the IUD"...almost like it was my fault for choosing the hormonal IUD when it was his recommendation all along. Staff at the location also felt untrained. At one point, she seemed confused and not knowing what to do when the Dr. asks her for the pair of scissors. He had to explain to her that it is used for cutting the extra string on the IUD. She seemed confused throughout the procedure. All in all, terrible experience with Dr. Alan McIntyre at the 200 Bay location. I hope my review will dissuade at least 1 person from seeing him, so that no one has to experience the lack of empathy and generally horrible experience I had today. read more

Update, I saw another doctor, a Stephanie Grail. She comes across as a very insecure, low self confidence, 1st year intern. She puts on a very uptight "professional" face when in the room, with zero sense of humor, I felt like I was talking to a teenager who was trying to be an adult, I don't think she knows what she's doing, I had to keep repeating everything many times as she couldn't follow what I was saying. I had a list of four things I needed a referral for and she refused to do more than two, and said they "only do one thing per visit, for time reasons" well that's pure BS, they are purposely billing OHIP for every single visit and they want you to keep coming in no matter how much of your personal time or distance, so they can bill each ailment separately, this is killing our OHIP coverage in this province. You're better off going to a walk in clinic than bothering with most of these young family physicians now, they are completely useless, I get the feeling they didn't graduate with very high grades, too dumb to go into a specialty, and the universities are just churning them out as quickly as possible. read more

I saw Dr. Geoffrey Stevens as a walk in patient. He is extremely rude and unpleasant to talk to. I came with a stomach pain, explained all my symptoms, even brought in blood work that I had done recently, but he didn't even bother looking at it, saying it was all good (which it wasn't, the report literally said some values were abnormal). Since I had recently seen my cardiologist, I was wearing an ECG Holter recorder on my chest, which Dr. Stevens saw. He didn't ask any questions, he didn't ask any context regarding my pain, but he went ahead and requested an x-ray of my abdomen. Even I know that going near an x-ray machine with a Holter monitor is a big no-no. Needless to say, I'm not having an x-ray while I wear my Holter monitor, I'm not coming back to MCI, and I'm in no way going to see him again. Complete waste of time, and waste of a medical license. Look elsewhere. read more

I got a call from the doctor's office to ask me come by and the doctor wants to talk me about my testing report on Oct. 2021. So I went to the office at my appointment time 7:15 pm, Dr. Geoffrey Stevens came to talk to me. He is very unpatient and in bad mood since the beginning, not gave me one straight answer. I just want to give you a feedback regarding the customer service provided by one of the nurses at 200 Bay St. I usually don't make complaints but I believe her behaviors affect their reputation. It's unfortunate because their doctors are actually very good. I went to the walking clinic on September 4th at 6:30pm. I was in the waiting room when I got called by this nurse. I believe she is latino (not that her race is important) and wears glasses. She was the most rude and emotionless health professional I've seen in my life. She prepared me before doctor's Elena (who is excellent by the way) came into the room. The nurse seemed bored, unfriendly... was giving attitude for no reason. I do understand that, as a nurse, she may be working long hours but WE ALL DO!! She should definitely be coached for her poor customer service skills! Sometimes you have to wait for awhile, especially on Mondays when the university crowd comes in after a weekend of drunken stupors. Some of the doctors are good, it depends on who you get. Usually the good doctors take a bit more time, but the bad ones will rush you off. I had a doctor once who told me that I could only ask one question per visit, so I asked about my infection, but couldn't ask about my nose congestion. She demanded that I go back out into the lobby, and ask the secretary to swipe my health card for a second time in order to ask my second question about my nose. I should also add that some of the secretaries are clueless, and when I say clueless I mean clueless. It took her a year to update my telephone number. I had 3 visits in one year, and each visit she would ask me to confirm my information, and I would ask her to update my number. Finally on the third visit she was able to get help with making the update. read more

He has plenty of sarcastic jokes about your body and does not have anything useful to tell you about your health. This place is terrible. I had been on waiting list to get a family doctor, and then finally did, in July last year. Somehow my doctor has now moved elsewhere, and all that the clinic told me was that my appointment was cancelled because the Dr moved -no alternative, no doctor replacement, no solution whatsoever. Really sub par service. On top of that, the receptionists are generally rude, and the one who informed of these changes was particularly rude and unhelpful. Over the last year, I've been to this place only a couple of times, my Dr was fine, but the staff in general isn't great, they keep you waiting for a long time (even for the supposed appointments). So I'll be trying to find a different doctor in a different clinic, and will tell everyone I can to NOT go to this place. read more

This place has caused me a lot of trouble. They opened newly and are extremely disorganized. Firstly, the walk-in reception staff is RUDE. But most importantly, this is what they did to me: I went into the clinic and was asked to take a test. Two weeks later I get a call saying all samples were contaminated and I have to take the test again. I did. Now, only after consistently following up with them for three weeks, they give me my test results. Five weeks lost here, when I am suffering a lot. And only because of inefficiency. There's no way the results would have taken over 5 business days based on the tests I took. Then I go to follow up on results and they tell me I need a specialist. Now I've been following up about getting the referral for three weeks, and they haven't yet responded. So if you really need some attention, don't go here. If you have generic flu etc, then sure, go ahead. But be prepared to wait for a long time in the wait lines. read more

They just hear one or two words and make up the rest so you end up explaining and re -explaining over and over. Then, they call you "rude". Doctors are sketchy, very very incompetent. 98% of them anyway. During covid they claim they do "in person appt" as per the doctor's decision, but the doctor always declines seeing you. This review is for the walk in clinic service that The Doctor's Office/MCI Medical Clinic offers. This medical clinic is situated in the RBC Plaza (bottom food court level) and is conveniently accessible by the PATH system. I arrived at the clinic a little after 9AM and I was surprised to see lots of people sitting in the office already, waiting to be seen by the doctor. "Checking in" was very quick - the receptionists were polite but fast. In other words there was no chit chatting with the patients, they were very efficient in going through the line up of people. Luckily the office is fairly big so there was a place for everyone to sit in while they waited. With only 1 doctor on site I waited 1 hour to finally be seen by the doc. I've been told that this is the only WALK IN CLINIC in the PATH system so keep that in mind before you make a trip down there (ie. long wait). read more

I came here for a routine check-up and I was shocked at the awful treatment from the doctor. The attitude, the rush, the lack of listening to me - it was such a poor experience, I never thought I would witness this in Ontario. I have a friendly demeanor and never have had issues with a medical professional before, but the doctor here (female, tall, Indian) was so incredibly rude that I won't be able to return. Bedside manner counts a lot in the health field, some doctors need to remember that we are what pays their bills. I recommend going to any of the dozens of other clinics downtown, can't be worse. read more

Our GP decided to leave family practice and took off for the lucrative shores of sports medicine. That's fine. But y'know, some kind of notice from the clinic to her client list would have been nice, we only found out when we called shortly after her mat leave was ending to find out she'd bailed. The clinic didn't offer to transfer us to another GP in the clinic. I've never seen a clinic practice that cares as little as this one. Avoid it. Just go anywhere else. read more

Very unprofessional. I went in yesterday a half hour before closing and they said they were closed (which was fair, even though there was no one waiting) I asked if they do TB tests and the receptionist told me yes and that they do not charge for it and to come back in the morning. I went back this morning and was treated very poorly and was told that they do not do do TB tests and laughed at me when I mentioned that I was told it was free of charge. This place is horrible, the staff seem miserable and don't care about their patients. I will never be returning here, it isn't the first time I've had issues with this clinic. read more

I'm relatively new to Toronto (I just passed the 2 year mark, so kind of?), and didn't have a family doctor. My coworker recommended a doctor here and I was lucky enough to get in as a new patient. This review reflects being a patient, not the walk-in clinic. Some receptionists at the front desk are friendly, some are not. All of them are no-nonsense which I can appreciate since there are so many patients to take care of. Wait times are short if you have an appointment, and all the nurses I've had the pleasure of seeing are very kind. My doctor is great and doesn't rush you. She also prefers that her patients come for a physical every year, which is fine by me. Location is convenient (close to Union Station), but it took a while to find the office inside the concourse (at the bottom of the escalators, tucked away). Leave yourself some extra time for your first visit. read more

The nurses all have a chip on their shoulder; aren't friendly and really don't want to be there so don't do more than they have to do. We got a call from them to have a prescription called in to pharmacy ... we told them to call Shoppers and when we went to pick it up ... it wasn't called in - hours later ... when I called the next morning ... the nurse there said they didn't have the number to the Shoppers around the corner ... and so they didn't call it in ... obviously didn't care to get on the computer they sit in front of all day ... to look it up ... not impressed and will not return to this substandard clinic. read more

Our GP Dr. Engleberg is here. He is thorough and I never feel like he is rushed in anyway. My son was going through some issues and he spent 2 hours making sure he had the help he needed. He texted me and called me from his own cell phone to follow up. Our previous doctor ignored signs that Dr Engleberg thank god does not. When my wife had test results that were not clear he made room in what was a solid schedule to the day the results would be available to see her. Reception understood she would be stressed not knowing what was going on. Reception organized with DR E and called back the next day with an appointment. I can always get in same day to the walk-in if I cant wait a few days. The doctors at the walk-in i have seen are all quiet competent and I am grateful I am walking distance to them. My family is lucky to have Dr Engleberg looking out for us. read more

This place is terrible. I had an experience with a doctor there who misrepresented herself in her competencies. I wrote two letters to the manager of the clinic and never heard anything back. The doctor herself called me and apologized, informing me that the clinic manager would be in touch, and to this day, I've never heard back. Misrepresentation can be grounds for a lawsuit. I'm very surprised the clinic manager has chosen to do nothing. I would have to agree with the below comments. The receptionists at the front are not well engaged. They sent my specialist referral to the wrong clinic.. twice. The wrong clinic actually then later phoned me to confirm an appointment. I have mixed feelings about this doctor's office. The doctor I have been seeing is very "to the point" and doesn't take much time to form a relationship with the patient but she is also usually on time, so this is good in some ways. I don't like that they use older equipment for taking blood pressure, and I also don't like how the rooms don't have wifi or cell reception. On the positive side, it's convenient that they have the lab for bloodwork right onsite, and that it's first come first serve, and it seems like they have reasonable amounts of availability (I've never had to wait very long to get an appointment). read more

This place is absolutely terrible. Never been bullied and made to cry by a doctor before. I have been trying to get a family doctor in Toronto with no luck. I needed some tests done and after waiting over an hour, they didn`t have the necessary things for the tests and asked me to come back the next week. I did, yet I waited another hour and a half. When I met with the doctor, all he had to do was print the sheet for me to take to the lab. I had a serious bacterial issue in the past which caused a disability. I asked him to add that to the test I was already getting - simply to check my levels for the bacterium at the same time. He scoffed and shrugged and said he had no clue what that was - that I needed to see a specialist. Though he wouldn`t refer me to one because he didn`t have time to hear my history with the disorder. This was about in the span of 5 minutes that he told me this. As he`s printing my sheet, I asked if I could ask him a question regarding a prescription I received from THE SAME clinic the week prior (when I was there also to get the test I mentioned), which had been making me violently ill in the past few days. That was when he began yelling. He accused me of thinking I was `special` that I could ask him to do two things for me during my appointment: print my lab sheet AND ask him a question about my prescription medication issue. He began to yell that the clinic is closing soon and there are more patients waiting, and I clearly must think I`m more important than everyone if I asked him for two separate things. He told me he had no time for me, that I needed to come back every day for each question, and that I clearly must not know how to prioritize my issues if I asked him to spend longer than 10 minutes addressing my issues. He said `get a family doctor then` and waved the lab sheet at me. He also informed me his clinic was not open to new patients, though. I started to cry because I have never been treated like this by a doctor. In the span of 10 minutes, all I wanted him to do was print my lab sheet and answer my medication issue - the prescription his fellow doctor and coworker gave me last week. Instead, he spent over 5 minutes of that time dismissing my serious issue and accusing me of thinking I was special for asking for `two things`. At the end of it all, the lab where I could get the required test had closed, pharmacies had closed, and I walked away with pretty much nothing. After he saw me cry he apologized several times and admitted he had overreacted. At that point, though, the damage had been done, and I truly hope this story makes everyone stay away from this walk-in. read more

Conveniently located in the PATH, the MCI Medical Clinic seemed like a good option for a walk-in appointment. I went in at about 1 pm, and experienced a shorter than normal wait time of approximately 15 minutes, which I was very happy about. It is very clean and there is adequate sitting space. The front desk staff was pretty passive, some were friendly and some just plain rude. The nurse that walked me into my room was much friendlier. The whole experience with the doctor was very rushed. I wanted to ask more questions, but I didn't even get a chance to. The doctor was helpful though in changing my prescription, which I appreciated. My search for a new family doctor will certainly not end here. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. Their receptionists try to avoid work. Their bookings/availability is months out. When a family doctor leaves, they notify you with a latter and book you 3 months out to "meet and greet" a new one. If you don't like it, wait another 2-3 months. It'll be a year before you see your family physician. I'd stay away from MCI. read more

MCI is a bad place to seek medical attention. If you can, try to go elsewhere. If you have a cold or sore throat, and need antibiotics, then it gets the job done. You will be in and out with a script within the hour. If you present with anything more serious, you are wasting your time. The place has the feel of a production line. My back has been killing me for a few weeks and the doctor didn't take the time to even try to understand what had happened. He wrote me a prescription for anti-inflammatories and sent me on my way with my head spinning. The receptionist could not be more rude if she tried. read more

The reception service at this location of 'MCI The Doctor's Office' at 200 Bay Street is beyond bad. I like my doctor so I'm still going there but to make an appointment is very time consuming. The long drawn out process where they read out each doctors name to get to the right number to dial is crazy slow and when you finally do get there they may no even answer. Their staff looks totally miserable ( no smiles to be had here) and they are definitely understaffed. Really not a service oriented business. I think the public puts up with them only because they have no choice. I try to make any appointments when I'm there just to avoid their frustrating answering system. read more

My Doctor was fantastic - one of the best I have had - but she has now left the practice. I wasn't informed, and when I called to make an appointment, her name was still on the phone message. Despite this, the receptionist was quite rude when I called. I was dumped as a patient (I guess the other doctors aren't taking on her patients and they haven't replaced her), so I need to look for a new family doctor. I was the patient of Dr. Eva M. Koinezna for 20 years. From the beginning, it was ok because I don't have to saw her frequently, I was young. In the year of 2001, she had found that I have a cholesterol in my blood. She didnt prescribe any medicine rather exercise.Even I mentioned that I have a family history of heart attack. After I had stomach inflammation, she couldn't find any problem in me. So I had to go to another doctor to get the specialist.Finally, my stomach problem gets better through another doctor.But My family doctor didn't like that part. secondly, I am getting older and I have a family history of heart attack and I have cholesterol, she ignored all and had told me to "not to worry and enjoy my life". Every annual check-up I insist her for doing any eco or ECG but she thought I was pushing her and spoiling government money. As a result, I got a massive heart attack on 27th May, 2017.My cardio specialist strongly recommend to me to see my family doctor with in 3 weeks. I had contacted my family doctor to make an appointment but she has gone for her 4 weeks of vacation. After she came back I was tried to book another appointment but the nurse said, I need to move my appointment due cannot see me that day. Finally, when I manage to see her, she comments why I came to her whereas I already have cardiologist appointment in ahead. In my review, Dr. Eva Koinezna never cares her patient.She always gets annoyed when she sees a patient. But my concern is, I put my life on her hand because she is my family doctor.
