McKay Roofing came out to do a pre-purchase inspection on our roof. They noted some repairs, so we approved the estimate they gave for the repairs. It took 4 months for the office manager to put us on the schedule. Not because they were busy, but because she admittedly kept forgetting. On the day of the repair appointment, the Tech was a no-show. My husband took off work to be home for the appointment. We both tried to call the office multiple times and got no answer and no call back after leaving 2 messages. One week after the no-show appointment we finally fired McKay roofing and had a different company come out to look at our roof. They requested we get a new roof and that any repairs made would be unethical due to the current condition of the roof. The opinion of the better company was, "Why pay $2500 for repairs that will just fail you sooner than later". That opinion has since been confirmed by a second company as well. - I wish we would have NEVER had McKay Roofing out for any reason. Their poor service cost us our ability to negotiate for additional work during the purchase of our home. Their recommendations were also unethical and the customer service is some of the worst I have ever experienced. read more

My experience with McKay Roofing was very poor. The people who recently bought McKay Roofing are using the name of a reputable company to further their shoddy workmanship. I called Dan Miller for the repair from McKay and he sent two men who worked twenty minutes on a roof leak. I paid $385.00. The roof still leaked like it did before the repair. I called Davis Roofing who said the McKay repair was completely unsatisfactory and I should ask for my money back. Davis Roofing charged me zero for a temporary repair. I called Dan Ramos of McKay Roofing and he said they do not guarantee their work or repairs. Who does that to their clients ? McKay Roofing had a wonderful reputation with a code of ethics now being ruined by these owners. Problematic repairs should be everyone's concern. Beware and spread the word. I literally called for weeks trying to get an appointment with no response. 1 worker, Coolie , tried to assist and left MULTIPLE messages for the roofing department. Finally, an appointment was set, and they came to the house. Then it started again. No estimate was provided and I called a few times with no result. Now we are due for multiple days of rain and my roof and drywall will sustain more damage as a result. read more

My house was built in 1929, and when I moved in in 1995 the flat roof was leaking in various spots. Over the years I got many estimates from different roofing companies - all very expensive, and none promising to solve the problem. So I'd get on the roof and patch it myself every rainy season. Finally, in 2007 the leaking had reached a point I needed to have it professionally fixed. A good friend recommended McKay Roofing, and they proposed two options. I went with option #2: install new roofing over the existing roofing, rather than tearing out the old roof and replacing it with a new one. No other roofing company had suggested this, and the cost was lower than any other estimate I received. They did a fabulous job, and the roof has not leaked since! read more

We had a strange plumbing line configuration which leaked. The only way to repair the leak was to cut a hole in the roof, take out the bad pipes from the top, replace the pipes, and patch the roof. On a blistering hot day, two roofers from McKay did a great job! They arrived on time, worked really hard and well, cleaned up everything. The patch will outlast the rest of the roof. I was not familiar with McKay but know whom to call now. Could not be more satisfied. read more

We used McKay Roofing three times over the past 10 years - once for a quick patch job which was very reasonable and well done. Second time we had them out for the same patch job a few years later - again, fast, friendly and reasonable. Two years ago we had them do some work on a new area - a section of flat roof... it was pretty expensive but they assured us it would fix our problems. A year later we had water coming into the house. It took weeks to get them out to take a look. It was the year of heavy rain so we tried to understand. When he came out he told me he was heading out for a vacation and would call when he got back. No call. After a month they told me I'd get a call when they were coming. No call. Then I kept getting brushed off - obviously they knew any work would be warranty work and they didn't want to deal with it. Finally they came and gave me a bid that was the same price as the original work. We called in another roofer who showed us photos of the work done by McKay - basically a terrible job that just laid some cover over the problem areas. There were gaps that allowed water to blow into the house. They just laid down material - like a slice of bread - and didn't seal the sides. Now we have a ton of rot. I am having the entire flat roof replaced for a bit more than the price McKay charged to "patch" it. I now also have to replace sections of my ceiling and outside trim that rotted because of water coming in. Years ago I recommended them but no longer. Weeks later found water damage in another area of the home. They came out in less than 24 hours notice and fixed the other vent flashing in the rain. Saving my home from terrible water damage. They also told me exactly what was wrong and didn't try to sell me on any further services. Lastly, the pricing was beyond reasonable. Don't look any further for roofing! read more

We recently began doing a bunch of work on our house that included a new roof and solar. We were put in contact with Jason C. from Milholland Electric to begin the process. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional and got the ball rolling. Within a few weeks the fine workers at McKay Roofing made it to our house to start the project. Led by Guillermo, they showed up right on time and worked straight through until our roof was done. Guillermo was very communicative, friendly and experienced. Everyone on the job was very respectful of our COVID-19 concerns and followed the appropriate protocol all the way through. Each day they cleaned up nicely and put everything back together. He came out right away (twice) because we got a quote for a flat roof and his cost was so competitive we decided to hire him for both the flat roof and the pitched roof portion of our house. He gave me a quote right away and after approving it, his team got started right away. I had three quotes from other roofers and they were more expensive and a longer wait. Once the job got started, I worked with Arturo and he was super helpful and communicative. He showed me lots of samples and gave me time to figure them out. During the job they ran into some issues with my super old roof drains and were able to install new ones right away. There weren't any delays at all and the teams that worked on the different parts of the roof were all super friendly and professional. The best part was how clean they were because we have pets and kids. At the end of every day they worked hard to clean up all around the house. We used Mckay roofing for a repair on our flat roof. We worked with Scott Mckay. He was easy to work with and responsive. I had 4 different companies come out. One gave me the run around, the other couldn't explain the repair they would do, and the other was far too expensive. Scott explained everything to me and was able to provide a sound and coherent plan of attack on a roof leak that was hard to find (yet destructive in the house). McKay Roofing came in to save the day after so many roofing companies left us hanging. I called, they came out the next day to look at our roof but ended up doing the patching at the same time. The urgent fix was done efficiently and very inexpensive. I then called to get a quote to replace our entire roof and Scott came out and was very honest in telling me that I did not need the roof replaced, I just needed to have a section redone. We were impressed by everything they did, from explanations of options all the way through cleanup. They were professional, courteous, and did a beautiful job. Our roof looks wonderful, and we sleep easy knowing that all the boards that had been damaged by the previous roof's age have been replaced. They even removed a pipe that once shielded overhead wires (no longer needed due to under grounding), and added flashing to protect the overhang from water. I called at the worst possible time...December. I noticed a leak and while I knew I would be needing a new roof had hoped to delay. Brad came out and told me that his crew were booked at least two months in advance but that he would send a couple of guys to effect the repair until they could replace the roof. Bless him, the repair held up and they finished the roof replacement right before we had the big wind and rain storm. The guys were courteous and when all was said and done came back and cleaned up.
