Selection was good. Prices were very over valued compared to price charting and recent eBay listings. Prices for figures were good though.

This place has been on my bucket list for a while and i'm so glad we got the chance to stop in. They have such a cool collection of vintage games and merch with a mix of cool collectibles and current gaming merch. The selection of Pokémon cards, plushies and figurines were so cool, and hopefully they have Espeon plushies soon! We'll be back for sure. Came here looking for some Wii games and a controller. This store is very well organized, although somewhat tight. The vibe is awesome for adults and kids alike. They had everything we were searching for - unlike other chains and local places. Customer service was amazing and super helpful/cheerful. BUYER BEWARE!! We visited the store from out of town and purchased Super Mario 3D World for the WiiU. When we got back to NJ and tried it out, the system cannot read the disc and the game will not play. I would not recommend buying defective video games from here. read more

Went to this store once for a game they had *persona revelations*, they were asking $500 for the game and based off recent sales and pricecharting $500 is about $100 more than the average sales of the past few months sale of the game. Asked if they would negotiate on the price and they did but were still over $50 more than the average sales price and asked for cash at the discounted price. Guess ill keep buying from ebay and amazon to save money and gas. These brick and mortar stores need to realize that over charging customers leads to customers not only not coming back but also not referring others to their establishment. This place rules. Reminds me a lot of VideoGamesNewYork. A wide selection of things, both new retro and old retro. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. It's a little on the smaller side, but that doesn't stop them from packing it full of obscure gaming goodies. They have an arcade as well, but that has been closed since COVID. Lost Ark Video Games is a video game store slash arcade. While lurking for classic arcade action, I decided to give this place a shot driving from Spartanburg. In the store, there's heaps of retro video games in stock. Anything from the Atari to modern days. SEGA Master System? Uh, yeah. They carry that. I remember that system at daycare. They games are priced a bit higher than I'd be willing to pay, but if it's a game I want and can afford it, then I'd shop here. I saw Crash Bandicoot 2 for the PS1 in its original packaging. That's one of my childhood favorites! The game room is definitely the biggest selling point. $8 gets you access to all the games you want to play, all set to freeplay mode. As far as selection, it's mostly Japanese fighting and rhythm games. There's lots of Street Fighter games (but no Darkstalkers or Marvel vs. Capcom *dah*). My favorite game here is The Lost World: Jurassic Park shooter. I wish they would fix the player 1 gun on it because it wasn't working very good. But the red gun worked just fine. I informed the manager about it and they didn't seem too aware of the issue. :/ Aside from the gun on that game not working, Lost Ark Video Games is definitely worth checking out for some geeky fun or playing competitive games with friends. I don't know why I haven't wrote a review for this place sooner. I love this video game shop. The staff is super nice and the while the retail shop is on the small side, it's always clean. Not only do they have a great selection of video games but they also have a literal arcade. I really like the selection of Japanese rhythm games they have that you can't really play/find anywhere else. What I also really like is their merch. They have a lot of video game and anime merch and a lot of things that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. You can also find Japanese drinks, candy and snacks too, which is pretty cool. Btw, if you enjoy the 80s/90s arcade aesthetic, then you will love it here. That esthetic is throughout the store, not just in the arcade. They also play really cool music. The parking will seem limited, but there is a company next door that you can park at, but you have to get a paper to put in your window from Lost Ark. I can't remember if the company has to be closed or not. Sorry ! Btw, there are bonus points here for the Sheetz next door. We don't have one of those back home and we always stop there for lunch when we visit Lost Ark. It's like a tradition now lol. But yeah, this place is awesome and you should definitely check it out. read more

The Lost Ark is well stocked with retro video games. they even had Japanese imported games and candies. the products they sold were very clean and worked well. the inventory they have is what makes them the best video game store in Greensboro. beware, you may end up spending more than you anticipate if you can't control yourself, haha. it looked like they had an arcade room in the back with an admission fee but I didn't go that far. the staff was well knowledgable and very friendly. read more

I have visited this store on a handful of occasions with a family member. If you get 5 or 6 people looking around, you will feel extremely cramped inside the store and have to stay in one position while everyone else moves around you. They definitely need a larger store for their product. Also, they are extremely over-priced. I have seen some retro video games priced to the moon and back when you can either go to another store and find the exact same gamed priced WAY LOWER or just go online and purchase it. The play the same music over and over and if it's your first time inside the store, it's a great tune for the aesthetic of the place but when you are in there say for over 10 mins, it will get old very fast. The staff are very friendly and will help you out. If you look around hard enough in the store, you can find some reasonable priced items but when it comes to the retro games ... buyers beware. read more

This place is a gem in Greensboro and worth my 1 hour drive from Raleigh to get there. It is a small and unassuming store front, but when you enter, you are hit by all the nerd goodies. The front of the store sells old games and gaming systems, bizarre Japanese imported candies and vending machine specialties, figures, plushies, pretty much anything gaming related might pass through their doors. It's hard to walk in and resist buying something. The prices are more than reasonable, ranging from $0.50 cents (for imported Japanese candies) and $1.00 vending machine surprises all the way to a few hundred dollars for giant high quality figurines. The reason this place shines is the backroom. For $8 (on weekends) you get a wristband, allowing you access to an all-you-can-play arcade. This place scratches an itch for all gamers. They specialize in a wide variety of fighting games (and hold a tournament every Saturday night). If fighting games aren't your style, there are usually 3 pinball tables, a few multi cabinets (cabinets that play multiple games), rhythm games and light gun games. The owner, Dan tries to switch out games and machines on a regular basis, based on a theme. This means that if there is something you want to play, you had better get in there before it disappears! On the flip side, if nothing catches your fancy, just wait a month for a new batch of games to arrive. My only two complaints are minor. First of all, parking is kind of scarce. They share a tiny lot with 3 other businesses. There is a side street to park on, but if you can't find a spot there, you'll need to walk a block or two. Secondly, this place is as authentic as a Japanese arcade, minus the smoke. Prepare to be hot and breathe poorly circulated air. The back room is a sauna from all of the games. There is a fan running, but it doesn't really make much of a difference, especially in the summer months. When you visit, wear light clothing! read more

I purchased an Xbox One S and was told that it was a 1TB model. When I got it home and set it up, that was not the case. It is only a 500 gb and I was greatly over charged. For $5 bucks you get admitted to the back room filled with Japanese market multi-game sit down cabinets. I'm not sure I've seen this many in one place on this continent before. The games are typical 90s fighting favorites with a twist for the Japanese market, as well as a bunch of stuff I just didn't recognize in more modern setups that seemed console based but I couldn't place the titles. Worth $5 bucks for the experience. The front room was filled with classic console titles from Atari to Nintendo and more rare selections like 3D0 consoles and games, I will have to come back to check this out closer. I saw a bunch of Japanese market games for sale here which should be a great blast to try out and collect-I've certainly never played them before. My fiance and I have been to lost ark multiple times. This place is a HIDDEN GEM!!!!! My fiance happened upon the place when we moved to the area, he had been looking for a place to play some of his favorite games that he had been introduced to in Japan. Lost Ark has a little bit of everything! They have games, gaming systems (including lots of retro games and systems), and other geeky merch like keychains and plushies. They also have a small--but awesome--arcade in the back. You pay a flat fee for unlimited playtime on all of the games in their arcade. Their arcade has a mix of newer games from Japan (MaiMai, Groove Coaster, Jubeat, Sound Voltex) and older games (Initial D, Street Fighter II and III, a variety of other fighting game cabinets, Future Tone House of the Dead EX, Macross II, and the newest Smash Bros). Lost Ark's arcade is great for those who want to try some games from Japan, people who have studied abroad and miss game centers in Japan, and any Japanese gamers who may be missing the arcades back in Japan. Their gift shop is great for gamers, geeks, and otaku; as it has a little bit of everything--even gashapon (gacha/kuji) straight from Japan. The staff is very nice too. My fiance recently lost his creditcard and ID and Daniel drove 20 minutes out of his way after the store had closed to bring us my fiance's lost cards. Thank you Daniel! Amazing arcade games! One the few places to find modern arcade games rather than a collection of pacman, Ninja turtles, and other classic retro games. Lots of imports from Japan and Asia. They always have a nice collection of used and rare console games for sale too! Plus you can't Freeplay for all their arcade for just $5-8 bucks. The only cons might be the size of the place(can feel really crowded during peak hours) and the pricing on some of their used games. read more

It actually blows my mind that people are giving this place a 5 star rating. Games are WAYYYY overpriced. Is the game worth $20 on price charting? Expect to pay $80 for it. I search stores all over NC and SC, this store has the worse prices of them all. The game store inside of the Bragg Blvd Flea Market in Fayetteville is 2nd worse. If you want to just look at the games and play in the arcade then it's a good store, but if you're a collector wanting to add games to you collection, skip this place. Finally, a old-school arcade in Greensboro! Not since the old Galaxy Arcade on Tate Street has there been a good neighborhood arcade in Greensboro. Lost Ark specializes in pinball machines, they usually have between 15-20 classics and new machines. They also have a good selection of classic arcade games and newer 90's machines as well. Run by folks that do it for the love of the games. Love this place, visit at least once a week. read more

The staff here are super nice and have helped me countless times in building my collections for every system out there. They sell games for all systems, even dabbling in some figures and Gundam model kits. The prices reflect the condition the games are in and tend to be much better than local competitors. Every weekend it's a total blast to come and hangout with many of the other local gamers who share the same passion for arcade gaming! The setup in the back is reminiscent of the arcades of decades past, setting a very nice atmosphere for gaming. The arcade lineup has something for every type of gamer. Tournaments are hosted monthly and are held for new and old fighting games alike! This place is simply amazing and I love coming here. Everyone should check it out. read more

I left so disappointed. Only two working pinball machines, both modern Stern vintage. Batman and Star Trek. Nowhere close to as reported in last reviews. The majority of video games were old Japanese fighter machine, and of those mostly of the Street Fighter variety. The only real classics are to be found on a garden variety emulator machine, found in basements and bars across America. And a worn out Nintendo machine with a busted joystick. I had heard about this place by fluke and after looking them up, decided I had to drive the 3+ hours to go spend a day there playing everything from classic to modern pinball, street fighter, even old school marble madness. Lost Ark also doubles as a retro games store and it is packed with games, systems, accessories, and trinkets through decades of video game history. Even the walls themselves give you waves of nostalgia with the amount of classic arcade marquees that hang all over. The staff was super friendly, more than willing to help, answer question, or just chat about anything in general. Although closed on sunday, fridays and saturdays are open til 1am! how many places can say that? Very impressed and I WILL be returning, 3 hour drive or not. read more

Well to start the review I will say that I heard about this rare gem on the Fox 8 10pm news a few weeks ago. After hearing what they said about this place I had to go. It is in a shopping center and very easy to find. The area is well lighted and many things around you so that if you get hungry or something you could leave and come back. When you first walk in there are vintage records for you to browse through.....I found Stevie Nicks Rock a Little and purchased it immediately. How could one leave that behind??!!?? There are Pinball machines on the left side of the business, totally lining the entire wall with everything from Murder Mystery to The Adams Family to Monopoly and Super Mario Pinball. They have quite a few other arcade games in the middle of the building and on the far right side like Donkey Kong, Mario and the old Sega racing games that I remember from my childhood in the local restaurants. I would BEG for quarters in order to play. Only to then hear my parents yelling about me not eating my food. Anyway, the staff are nice and very low key.....You dont really hear from them which is a good thing....They sell drinks should you get thirsty while playing and also many many many used video games and gaming systems. I almost wanted to buy a Nintendo or an Atari.....But, would I really use it? Probably too much! LOL All in all for a cold and rainy weekend night with nothing else to do, I killed about 2 hours here before I even knew it. Best part of all, I only spent about 15 bucks including the Stevie Nicks record. I will definately be back and I hope this place stays in business for years to come. read more

Drove an hour from Raleigh and it wasn't a complete waste. The store itself is amazing and the selection is pretty good (depends on what system you're looking for). Prices are high. I like supporting independent stores, but paying double for games I can get on eBay or Craigslist isn't something I can justify often. I found some cool games in the clearance n64 bin but that's about it. Will be back to check out the arcade in the back. read more

Lost Ark is awesome. I'm not a big gamer by any means, but this place is still so much fun. Arcade games are 25 cents and Pinball is 50 cents, and they're constantly adding more machines. They have great prices on used console games, generally having most newer titles as well. They even a huge amount of games for OG consoles, as well as the consoles themselves. There's even a small area in one corner that has vinyl and books, and it seems to be getting bigger every time I go. Basically, this place is a haven for gamers of all ages and preferences.
