This is not five star cuisine. However, this is, without a shadow of a doubt, a five star establishment. The oldest Irish pub on the "Emerald Mile" does not disappoint. Beautiful wood interior, & the regulars at lunch on a weekday (who appear to have known each other for decades) may not exactly be warmly welcoming, but are certainly courteous and accommodating. So we were told this place has amazing steaks and it was hard to be in a Irish pub and not get traditional Irish food but we got the steaks as recommended I got the 16oz and my wife got the filet and shrimp special the food was good, not going to say it was the best I ever had or the the worst, we will leave it as it was good . One of my frustrations was that the peppercorn sauce was an additional, based on other places this is something that is normally included or at least can be added, $6 for a cup of sauce was pretty higher, on the other note the sauce was very good The service was good, waitress was attentive as much as needed and not overwhelming or absent. The ambiance is an Irish bar, on one note I would have preferred some Irish music playing vs the 80s music that they had going or on the tvs the news and something bloody. Came in for a couple drinks and some lunch. It's a nice Irish pub on Mclean. Sat at the bar and was watching some sports. Got myself a delicious cider on a hot day. I ordered the fish & chips for my lunch. The portion size was very nice. The fish was flaky and delicious. The chips were cooked nicely. It came with a bit of salad as well. It was a very tasty plate. The place itself gives off kind of a regulars vibe, but being new it wasn't intimidating. The bartender was attentive and nice. Cozy Irish dinner spot in Yonkers near the Bronx border of NYC. The prices for our dinner were very reasonable and if you like steak, then you won't find much better in the area. They offer 16 oz. or 14 oz. sizzling steaks with mushroom and onions that were delicious. Each meal comes with soup and salad. The seafood dinner special was also delicious. Streak overdone and worst old fashioned I've ever Had, they obviously need new staff, won't be spending my money here again.

intimate setting...nice for a quiet drink...or a dinner date =) I was just there last week...they have excellent steaks! Be warned...order them more rare than you'd like...I ordered mine medium...and it came medium well. But other than that...the sauces were amazing...fresh food...and the wine's not bad either. Of course next time, I'll have to check out the beer selection. Another thing to mention...they have boarding rooms above the pub in case you have friends or family visiting from out of town...very reasonable too! read more

This is a small Irish Bar and Restaurant along Mclean Ave. in Yonkers. Accessible by bus 25 and street parking. ATMOSPHERE: They have a small bar area in the front where you can talk and socialize, DJs on Friday and Saturday, they have a few booths and a small separate room in the back with a few more tables for dining. SERVICE: I had no bad experience with the service here. The staffs are friendly and very attentive. They give us time to talk, suggest whats good in the menu, offers specials and desserts. FOOD: Food is ok. more of a bar and pub food. they offer salads, steaks, burgers. Tonight, I tried their 14 oz famous steak for $19.99, it comes with soup or salad, I chose the soup which is a cup of mushroom soup. It was good especially with a cold weather outside.... then I ordered 14 oz steak medium rare but I got mine well done. Have the waitresses been taking notes from the Irish Coffee Shop School of Serving? What we experienced was nothing short of abysmal. We had to flag our own waitress down on more than one occasion and her colleague was rude to high heavens. Food has gone downhill which is a pity. I have been going to Mc Keons for years. There steaks are superb, they come out of a sizzling platter, great irish soups, I love that you get a soupo or salad with the meal. I live the shell and rib eye steaks. They also make a great scones, and desserts, No better will take better care of you then John and Phil. Their hospitatlity and service is EXCELLANT! As another reviewer noted, brunch is mediocre, but the steaks are amazing! All the entrees are, but I always order a filet with mixed veg and turnip. I love turnips! The staff is wonderful as well. The food was ok and inexpensive. The waitress was a bit over the top in her frustration when i dared to ask what bottle beers they had...after she had to recite all 6 or so beers they had on draft. It was pretty rude. The onion rings are good though. The beer selection includes only beers you drank in the woods when you were 17 though. Pretty limited. read more

This used to be a favorite of ours for good quality food and good service. Yesterday's brunch knocked it off our list. Simple enough, there were only three of us, and it was not at all busy. Our daughter ordered the eggs with sausage, and rashers. It come with potatoes and toast. She asked if they could make scrambled egg whites. The server said she doubted it because he doesn't do that, but since the restaurant wasn't busy perhaps he would. Right off the bat I have a problem with the chef. He doesn't do that??? His job is predicated on happy customers getting their food the way the like it. It's his job to "do that". If customers can't get that, they won't come back which is the case with us. So my daughter went with regular scrambled eggs. She asked that the potatoes, and rashers be put on a separate plate. The server said yes, no problem. Well guess what, it all comes out all in one plate, and the waitress is not around. So now my daughter is tea spooning the greasy potatoes off her plate, and then wiping the plate down because the diva chef couldn't be bothered to honor a customers request. Finally the server comes over and asks "he didn't put it on a separate plate?" (She saw he didn't, why ask us, go ask him why?) We said no, and she responded with "I asked". Personally, I think she should have gone to the manager about it. I think management should get their kitchen staff in check because it's just not good business. We won't be back to McKeons. There are loads of places up on McLean Avenue that are more than willing to handle two minimal special requests from a customer in order to keep them happy. read more

Had brunch here a couple of Sundays ago and was unimpressed with it. I ordered Eggs Benedict the yolks were completely cooked thru like a hard boiled egg would be. My husband ordered eggs over easy with his Irish Breakfast and the same thing happened to him. They were able to accommodate our group of 10 which was great! The atmosphere was OK but we live in the area and more than likely will not be returning for brunch.....there are a few other places on McLean that do it better. The bar was nice though, we would definitely come again to have a few pints but we'll eat elsewhere. read more

Party of four adults, burgers for two, chicken pot pie for the other two people. I had the no chicken no vegetables pot pie. Two string beans. Two peas, two shoe string size pieces of chicken. In other words, bare pot pie, virtually no food in dish. Crust very good, filling of creamy sauce ok. Burgers average , service good. I have eaten here many times, but my experience on Saturday evening was shocking. I was extremely excited when I seen on the menu, fillet mignon, portobello mushroom and gorgonzola, my favourite and even told the waitress that my diet was going out the window. I asked for steak medium but not too bloody to which she said you better have it medium well, I was like, but I like it pink. Low and behold my steak came out like cardboard. I took one mouthful and told her it was over cooked. She said 'sorry about that' and left me with a full plate until my husband, had finished his. The owner was not around this evening but his partner was and she asked the waitress what was wrong with my meal. She never came near me, but ignored me. I asked for the cheque, and was charged full price of $28 for one mouthful of steak and a tap on the back (seriously), shame about your steak!! They've now lost 2 loyal customers who went once a week. read more
