Hidden on a side street but don't let this gem slip by. Close to Tuckahoe Metro North. This place has great food, awesome ambiance, and the staff is amazing. Full bar and they even have an option for the college crew to use their swipes for meals there. Nice job.

Tuckd Nachos - messy but very good

This was our first time trying Tuck'd Away Bar & Grill. And it is Tucked away on a side street, so great name choice. :) We got there around 9:30 PM and were seated right away. It was game two of the World Series that night, and they were multiple TVs so we were able to watch the game, which was a plus. The booth was very roomy and had a good amount of space between us and the table. Speaking of that space, make sure to lay your napkin on your lap so you don't drop sauce on your jeans like I did lol. We ordered the turkey chili nachos as an appetizer and both got wings for our entrée. The nachos were very flavorful and topped with turkey chili, pickled jalapeños, black, olives, fresh chopped avocado and cheese. I'm pretty sure the chips are house made. They're thick cut and held up pretty nicely underneath all the toppings, which completely covered them. That's fine, but just know it can get pretty messy. They could have been hotter (temperature wise) but maybe the other toppings like tomatoes and avocado cooled it down. They give you a serving spoon to put the nachos on a side plate, which is great for sharing. I actually think this app could work really well as a dip, kind of like Chili's skillet queso, that way you can just dip your chips in it. Anyway, the flavors were there and I was actually surprised they were this good. The wings came out next and were piping hot and crispy. I got mine plain with honey BBQ and mild buffalo on the side. Not a big fan of either sauce. The honey BBQ was overly sweet and the buffalo was almost fruity and had an odd taste. Didn't look or taste like buffalo to me. However, the blue cheese that came with the wings was delicious. Celery was crunchy and fresh. My husband got the tequila lime dry rub on his wings. All in all, we enjoyed the wings but they weren't the most incredible we've ever had - solid though for sure. The drummets were a bit dry, but I like it like that. If you're a fan of big, meaty chicken wings with a nice crisp, you'll probably enjoy these! One thing I didn't love is that I unrolled my silverware and my fork had food stuck on it. I'm sure they would have given another if I asked, but I didn't need to use it so I let it be. The service was very good, and our server was kind and knowledgeable. Extensive menu. This would be a great place to grab a drink at the bar or for dinner with family or friends. Solid food and experience!

If you drive fast you will miss it !

Good ambiance, diverse menu & a few blocks from my house. Went here for the first time & had the bone-in wings buffalo and jerk. Both were really awesome & these wings are fantastic. I had a cider and the burger with Parmesan garlic fries. Burger was very good.My wife had the Philly cheesesteak. Finished with pumpkin pie. All was very good & I will be back.

Not sure why I have never reviewed this spot but there is a first time for everything! I come here every so often for the wings and their pizza. (My parents even hosted my 30th birthday here right before the pandemic). Very spacious spot for great food and drinks.

Totally blown away by the Boneless Wings. Wings were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The mild sauce had the perfect amount of spice. The Tuck'd burger was good but nothing stood out. The Pork Chop Scarp was a killer dish. It had a nice kick to it. I would 100% go back for the wings and Pork. 4 Stars from me.

The service and food, on the other hand, were quite a mixed bag. We ordered a margherita pizza, pancake tacos, steak and eggs, and French toast with a side of sausage--the pizza, at least, was good. However, the "French toast" was more like an anemic panini press trying to pass as French toast. The steak and eggs comprised of a fairly well-cooked (that is, it was the right temperature) yet underseasoned steak of a relatively dubious cut, underseasoned home fries, and eggs done wrong (sunny side instead of over easy). The lattermost was the start of the problem, as I was willing to give it a shot, but found the texture off-putting. In light of this, I brought the problem to our server Adalia, who brought it to her manager Elvia. Thankfully I had someone else with me to tell me what happened: Elvia came over without addressing me on their error, silently took a look at my plate and instructed Adalia to have the kitchen put the eggs back on the fire. She takes my plate to extract the eggs, and brings them back (unsurprisingly) completely overdone, first in Elvia's hands, then in Adalia's for her to serve; we send for a refire, and they come back correct 7 minutes or so after I've already finished eating. Considering the hassle it took to get them, I couldn't trust it enough to eat, leading them to waste as well. After all was said and done, the GM Amer comes over to see how things were, and was thankfully helpful and understanding of our situation. Here's the rub: I was initially willing to overlook the steak, the home fries, and even the eggs if the error was properly ameliorated. Adalia and Amer both did very well, and I'm grateful for them for that; Elvia, on the other hand, managed to break the chain of competent customer service by directing the server to handle the problem in a way that was set up for failure (if you mess up an egg, it's an immediate refire because of how the egg cooks in the first place -- Amer also arrested to that policy) all without addressing us and taking accountability, due to negligence or whatever else. Not only that, but when sending the incorrect eggs over the second time, she couldn't even bring it to us herself--it would have been easy, seeing as she was the one that originally had them--and left Adalia and her tip to potentially take the fire if the patrons happen to be angry. Mistakes are fine--everyone makes them--but I'd describe this as cowardly more than anything else, and I take issue with that in particular from a leadership standpoint. While Amer graciously extended an invitation for a better experience next time, I can't say I'll be taking him up on the offer when their service and food are this misaligned; unfortunately, a disappointment overall.

I was deciding between the turkey salad and the Chicken Salad Ciabatta from the lunch specials and asked our server how the chicken salad was, She said it was her favorite and that it was a lot of people's go-to, so I decided to order that. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Heritage Nachos, Loaded Tater Tot Skillet, Philly Cheesesteak, and the Chicken Salad Ciabatta. The nachos weren't really for me (I didn't love the type of chips used), but the tots were good and my boyfriend liked his cheesesteak. I absolutely loved the chicken salad sandwich and fries. I get a little fixated on foods I like, so I had honestly been craving that sandwich ever since. 3/14 SECOND VISIT: I decided to come back on March 14 specifically hoping to order the chicken salad sandwich again. It was much busier due to St. Patrick's weekend,I was alone, I was seated in a booth in the back. I was given the dinner menu, so I asked the server about the chicken salad sandwich I had previously ordered. She didn't recognize the sandwich but offered to ask the kitchen after I showed her a photo and the menu from my previous visit. Unfortunately she came back and said they couldn't make it. She suggested a grilled chicken sandwich, but I declined since I'm not really a fan of grilled chicken. I ended up ordering the turkey sandwich and asked for a few modifications (no stuffing or cranberry mayo, just regular mayo on a ciabatta). When the food came out, I immediately knew it wasn't turkey. I waited until the server came back and asked her to confirm what meat was on the sandwich. She initially told me it was turkey. After taking it apart & having a few bites I knew it wasn't turkey. I winded up eating the fries and asking for the bill. I decided to show her the inside of the sandwich again and asked her to double check with the kitchen, she returned and confirmed it was actually ham, even though the ticket showed that she ordered turkey. She did offer to remake the sandwich, but it would have taken another 10-15 minutes and at that point I was already over it. I ended up just paying, and leaving. I completely understand that menus change and servers can't memorize every item. I just wish the sandwich had been confirmed with the kitchen sooner when I questioned it the first time. Overall, my first visit was great, and that chicken salad sandwich was honestly amazing. I just wish the second visit had gone a little smoother.

To make matters worse, one person in our group didn't receive his meal until everyone else had already finished eating. When we brought this up to our server, she claimed she wasn't aware of the offer, and we ended up paying full price for everything. Overall, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience, with very poor customer service.

However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

Aesthetically, each table feels like a meal at a family dinner table; it's clear that they wanted that vibe to be translated, and it's done quite well. This is also supported by the service being very friendly and helpful in general. To eat, I had the French toast burger with sweet potato fries. Some others with me had various sides like regular fries and tater tots, and the same thing was present on them that tends not to be at most places: they were all perfectly salted/seasoned. It might seem immaterial, but it's a very good signal when something that simple--yet often neglected in favor of just using condiments to mask it--is executed well. If you're a burger place with fries that taste great without the need for a sauce or condiment, you're doing something right. The French toast burger was likewise fantastic, combining sweet and savory in a great way. To drink, we all got a communal pitcher of the only frozie they had available at the time: a kind of jungle juice vodka slushie. It, too, was great--worthy of multiple rounds. All in all, here's a place that I can't wait to give another visit.
