First time seeing this gynocologist. Dr McKindsey introduced herself and did the basics Pap smear, checked everything and seemed rather detached and curt. Felt like I was a body part on assembly line being checked out to see if all the parts were in order. There was a very brief conversation of recommend ointment I should be using for ten days. Dr McKindsey then left the room. She made not mention if any follow up appointments were needed. which I thought was rather hit and miss. I have held off writing a review for somtime because I didnt want to make any incorrect assumptions, but without fail, I leave this ofc frustrated every time after seeing Frances McKindsey. I rarely feel this way abt my drs but she's hands down horrible. It's easily 1 hr of me waiting, from the time I check in until she finally gets to the exam room. To top it off, she'd be in and out very quickly and She's dismissive and aloof. I switched dr mid pregnancy and said I'd not see again. I had forgotten about her, but when I remembered, I was so disappointed to be paired up w her again. She came in & out very quickly. Looked at my issue & said that's not me. Wasn't happy, but ok, I setup another appointment with another doctor. What made me really upset was that her office then charged me for two visits - one for my checkup (which took a few minutes) and one for the item where she said not me (in less than a minute). Relocating from outside LA I made a mistake by randomly used this Gyn service. She claimed her phone call on me as if it's a Telemed service that was nothing but reporting of the negative Pep. result, and now I have to follow up by disputing the bill.. Further don't expect the staff would call back re: bulling issues, as Dr. McKindsey and her staff never answered the phone ( or reply my emails,) ie. having non working phone lines. Now I just ended up paying my co pay for the wrong claim because my health insurance has no power to deny Dr's claims.. End of business with her. She seemed rude at bed side manner, and lied to me of some referral sources, as I'm new in the area, as if she knows well but I found it was totally bogus information later. read more

The new office is gorgeous and clean and perfect. Dr McKindsey is approachable and easy to talk to. She listens and seems to really care. The 10 minute wait on hold before a phone call is answered to make an appointment is annoying for sure and my #1 complaint. If you want amazing GYN care go to Complete Woman Care in Long Beach or Rolling Hills. They are the best and so much better! They also have a 24 hour GYN urgent care. read more

This is an update. I have waited since of October of 2014 to write and post an updated review that reflects my last and final encounter with this physician. This delay was so as to keep the tone as non-personal as possible, with the objectivity that time can afford my perception; Simply put, I didn't want to "lash out", as is so easy for reviewers to do after a negative encounter with a service provider. I cannot go into many specifics here in this public forum, but if you are a prospective or even current patient (or an attorney representing one of her patients), and would like more specifics as to the situation, I will be glad to discuss it via PM through the yelp message service. If I can help anyone avoid what I went through with her, or, help them move past what they too went through, I will. So. Should you consider Francis McKinsey as your OBGYN? All I can say is, please, PLEASE use this physician with caution, especially if you've been suffering from a long-term condition, or you have, you know, emotions in regards to the physical pain you're been suffering (and might let them out during an appointment). From what I can tell from her other reviews, if your case is simple and guaranteed a quick and routine resolution, you'll probably have an amenable experience. If your case is complex, rare, and/or chronic, RUN, do not walk, to another physician. The generalities, as per my experience: She gives an initial impression of empathy, warmth, and patient focus. Once the inital patient-doctor relation phase is over, though, that will wane, and you'll suffer for it either physically, or, in my case, through unprofessional conduct and abandonment. Dr McKindsey is first and foremost a surgeon. Her surgical abilities were why my internist referred me to her in the first place, and then once again - by the same internist - in regards to my most recent appointment. There is a cliche that surgeons often have monumental egos and insensitive personalities that can, (but don't always, of course), lead to unpleasant encounters with patients. This physician could be the poster child for this cliche. NO gynocologist should operate that way, though; The very nature of their specific field requires them to treat patients who often are experiencing some of the most emotional and scary situations life can throw at them. Dedication to the development of good communication and listening skills, patience, and empathetic interactions with their patients is of the utmost importance. Further, the careful developement of a balanced ego and in reasonable ego-responses are absolutely NECISSITIES when one will be dealing with women stressed by the hormonal and physical influence of pregnancy, or other gynecological conditions/diseases. Dr McKindsey is DEEPLY lacking in this regard. In my experience, her total lack of verbal investigative skills, coupled with my respectfully - but emotionally - questioning her personal experience in dealing with and treating a rare, non-gynological genetic condition that can effect gynocolocial health, resulted in her verbally condescending, patronizing, and belittling me, assumedly in an attempt to force me into submitting to her opinion. At one point early in the conversation she even rolled her eyes at me. Yes, admittedly I was an emotional patient, one at her wit's end with 20 years of life-disrupting pain. How she responded will forever be burned into my brain as one of the most humiliating, emotionally painful experiences of my entire life... I will tell you the following so you know exactly what you could wind up dealing with if you choose her as your physician: The five-minute-long appointment ended with my being emotionally, and almost physically and publicly shamed, by being frogged-marched PAST her staff and other patients through the office, the waiting room, and out the front door. I was so deeply confused about how it had gone so wrong so quickly that I'd been shocked into silence, just reduced to nothing but sobs, and because of that she callously accused me of needing "psychological help" and threatened to call security. Why? Because I had: a. cried during the appointment, b. begged her to help solve a gynocological health issue that has effected every aspect of my life since I was eighteen years old, and, c. attempted to update her on a new and official diagnosis - by a geneticist at Cedars Sinai - that I'd received that could be effecting this issue. Because she cannot handle being confronted with normal human emotions, and she lacks basic verbal investigative skills, she can and may very well act with a PROFOUND lack of professionalism. What it comes down to is this: regardless of what she THINKS the patient is saying to her, her response has the potential to be incredibly, wildly, and disproportionately HOSTILE. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Mckindsey. My first visit was a "walk in." I was referred by my primary doctor so I came in with my ultrasound and MRI results indicating a mass was growing on one of my ovaries. Of course I was upset, nervous and anxious. My primary doctor wasn't very knowledgeable in this area so I was very discouraged, however, when I met with Dr. Mckindsey she took her time and explained what steps we needed to take to get the mass removed. She was very knowledgeable, compassionate and patient with me. She was very open to all of my questions and concerns and she made feel so comfortable. Even the office staff (especially Kim) was helpful and told me that I was in goods hands. The day of my surgery Dr. Mckindsey greeted me before surgery and reassured me that everything would be fine. She asked if I had any questions and was just very concerned about how I was I feeling. I told her the only thing I wanted her to do was meet my mom in the waiting room to let her know once the surgery was done. Sure enough my mom told me that Dr. Mckindsey came out to the waiting room and informed her how well the surgery went and answered every question that my mom had before she had even asked. I've had my fair share of uncaring and overwhelmed doctors. I even had an Obgyn who cared for me my entire pregnancy and never took time to realize that I had preeclampsia with hellp syndrome. I gave him my symptoms every time we met but he was so overwhelmed he didn't take the time to notice it. Luckily the on call physician at TMMC diagnosed me right away and performed an emergency c-section and at that time I was already going into liver failure, however my son and I made a safe recovery but it was scary. My overall experience with Dr. Mckindsey was great! I would definitely recommend her to my family and friends. If you are looking for a knowledgeable Obgyn I believe it would it be in your best interest to contact Dr. Mckindsey. read more

I must say that my experience with Dr. McKindsey was mixed. She provided excellent care before and during my pregnancy. She was careful to order various tests and followed up with me when appropriate and I appreciate her positive attitude. My birthing experience was not as great. I was induced at 40 weeks and my baby ended up in the NICU for a week. I caught a terrible infection in the hospital that required several days of antibiotics. It's difficult to say if this would have happened with any doctor. However, Dr. McKindsey did perform an episiotomy on me which I was not aware of. I'm sorry but if someone is cutting my vagina, I would like to know about it. I did not need one for my previous two babies, why did I get one on this third birth (who was a relatively small baby as well)? This incision took months to heal and needless to say, affected the quality of my life due to severe discomfort between my legs. My advice is to really know what her plans are when it comes to your delivery and communicate your preferences clearly. It's your body and birthing experience after all. I am now pregnant with my 4th child and will be using a different doctor to deliver my baby. I made this choice, not because Dr. McKindsey isn't knowledgeable, competent with a positive upbeat attitude. She is all of those things. Rather it's more communication, including a complete understanding of my options, that I need during the birthing process. I realize that not all births go as expected. Of course I want a healthy baby, but I want a healthy, positive, natural birthing experience as well. After all, it's not every day that I get to deliver a human into the world. read more

I think Dr. McKindsey is great. I met with a few doctors in the beginning of my pregnancy and felt that I connected best with her. The first time I went to see her, she was delivering a baby so I did have to wait about 45 minutes but that's pretty common. Her office staff is great, and always call back. Her after hour help line is very useful too! She's a pretty busy lady so come with your questions ready! My husband connected with her too with the whole baby process and that was important to us that he liked her too. read more

I had been to several other local gynecologists before and didn't have very good experiences. But I felt very comfortable with Dr. McKindsey for routine testing or general visits, and I trust her. She listens very patiently and is very compassionate, and gives good explanations and suggestions. Many of the office staff were very nice and courteous,too. Under recent COVID-19 situations, it looks it's a little challenging to get quick appointments, but I'd still wait a little to see her rather than going to other gynecologists. read more

This was first visit with Dr.McKindsey and as I walked away from my appt and experience with her that this will be my last. I was referred to her after multiple test to assist in determining the a recommendation and decision on the best course of treatment. Instead I left both upset with her lack of professionalism and lack of a treatment plan. First I must say that I was not happy waiting in a room one hour before showing her presence. By that time I was dressed and ready to leave. Being upset I shared with her how unprofessional it was to leave a person waiting for an hour and failure to send an office to notify me that the doctor was running late. Mistake 1- Her response - no only 45 minutes and it was then that she apologized. I don't need one to challenge me on the time. Ready to leave and offers to reschedule the appt. I don't think so and not on time. Basic lack of empathy!! Mistake 2:First question what are you here . She never prepped for this appt nor did she read the notes in my file. There were several referrals and test results which highlighted the information she needed and less frustration added to my stress level. Instead she arrived with a few pages of notes and ready the notes and test results I read and knew what I was there for. After listening to her and making no sense of a treatment plan she is requiring a retesting of a test I took a month ago. Will do but she will not be treating me or making any medical decisions Refer me to a specialist asap! read more

My review will cover the office, staff, app and my experience with Dr. McKindsey. Office: Located in the building right next to Torrance Memorial. It's clean and nicely designed. Parking is available. Waiting time can be anywhere from 5min to 45 min. Avg is around 15min. There's a tv in the waiting room and in some of the exam rooms. It's modern style makes their name appropriate: Modern Women's Care. Staff: They are very nice and polite. If you call that might not always be the case. Some who answer the phone have an attitude like you're bothering them. Some are nice. I have yet to call and get an answer to my questions or a retuned call when they say they will. Their response most of the time is I'll have to ask the Dr and get back to you. That's a perfectly acceptable answer except YOU'LL NEVER GET A CALL BACK! You have to call 2-3 times to get an answer. No issues with billing or insurance. App: app is great idea if the data was put in correctly. They're supposed to put titles for the test results. Half of mine just say unspecified so I have to click each one to see what it is. It also has this great section that says "forgot what you discussed in your appt, see notes here." except none of the notes are ever there. I did like that you can send an email to the nurse, office or Dr. McK and avoid calling. I tried emailing the office and Dr. only Dr. McK would write back and only if it was anything concerning. You'll also get a text telling you to confirm your appt by clicking a link provided but when you click it, the only option is to check in. I don't understand the purpose of this since you sign in with the receptionist when you arrive. Dr. McKindsey: This is hard for me to write since I was her patient for about 7 years. I looked passed the issues I had with the front desk because she WAS reassuring and patient. Since I became pregnant I had so many questions being a first time mom with 5 years of multiple losses and I looked to her to for reassurance and be there for me like she'd been the previous 7 years. We didn't realize her tone towards me had become more and more condescending until my second to last appt. I told her I made a list of questions (3 questions) since I kept forgetting to ask during my appts. She quickly became defensive and getting information out of her was like pulling teeth!! Her attitude was like I was questioning her medical background and she treated me like an over worried soon to be mother that spends too much time looking stuff up on online. She brought me to tears and just stared at me blankly!! My husband was with me and he we tried really hard to chalk it up to her having a bad day and me being hormonal. I ended up sending her a message through the app since I was so confused why she was so rude. I was hoping we could work through things since she'd been my dr. for so long. She never responded. When I went in today for my last appointment, she told me she got my email and she basically said this is my best, take it or leave it but strongly recommended I find another dr. I still tried to work things out by elaborating with an example of the type of information I was looking to get from her to see if she would work with me. She was not open to talking things through. She implied that google made me an excessive worrier and there's nothing she could do. It's my first time being pregnant with 5 years of multiple losses!! My worrying does not come from google!! It is so dangerous for her to treat her patients this way because if something were wrong, it will be dismissed by you or undiagnosed by her since she doesn't make you feel comfortable discussing your symptoms. I don't know what's happened with her but she's turned into a gas lighter with no compassion! Finally they'll charge you for a copy of your records, even if it's the Dr. who doesn't want to see you anymore. They also won't let you switch Dr.s within the group. I do not recommend anyone seeing Dr. McKindsey or going to Modern Women's Care and putting themselves through what could potentially be an emotionally damaging experience. I cannot say enough GOOD things about Dr. McKindsey. My other GYN told me I needed a full hysterectomy and I wanted a second opinion. I was referred to Dr. McKindsey by a friend (whose husband is a Dr.) and have wondered why I never heard of her before! She is amazing. She listened to every word I said, even suggested I bring my husband for questions (prior to the procedure she recommended doing some investigative work) and calmed me when I was fretting. Her bedside manner is amazing. She explains everything carefully. My recent well exam was over before I knew it without any discomfort. In reading prior reviews, I feel like they are written about someone else. I have high expectations for my Dr.'s and she is one of the my favorites! I am in my late 50's. I have had 2 babies (C-sections) , 5 different OB/GYNs. and she is by far my favorite one! We are moving from the area and I asked her to move so I know I can see her forever! read more

Dr. Mckindsey is hands-down one of the best doctors I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I have never written a Yelp review before--that's how awesome she is! She has been my obstetrician for the last 3 years and delivered my 2 babies. Both pregnancies had some hiccups along the way and she always went above and beyond to make sure both me and baby were ok. I can't recommend her enough!! If I could give zero stars I would, considering this physician wouldn't "accept me as a patient." I never even had the chance to see her. LIkely because I have a pre-existing condition. (NOTE: IF YOU HAVE ANY PRE-EXISTING CONDITION THAT TAKES A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THE DOCTOR'S END, DO NOT TRY TO SEE THIS DOCTOR.) I wish I had scrolled through the Yelp reviews and read all of them before completely changing my IPA in order to see Dr. McKindsey. (I read the positive reviews and she sounded great, so I changed my network and waited a month to make an appointment only to be told she would not accept me!) Keep in mind, the office verified three times she is currently accepting new patients; even when they told me she wouldn't accept me, they verified she is accepting new patients but it is "at the doctor's discretion to decline any new patient." I had my medical records transferred 6 weeks ago and have been waiting until the beginning of the month to schedule an appointment (per Dr. McKindsey's staff instructions). They NEVER called once to tell me the doctor had opted to decline me. Had I known this was going to happen, I would have been trying to find a different doctor and had my records sent to him/her. I am 5 months pregnant and cannot afford to go 2 months without seeing a physician. Here's why I think Dr. McKindsey declined to see me as a patient: she is completely inexperienced and unfamiliar with Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass patients. I had GB surgery in 2009, lost a substantial amount of weight since then, but for some reason, I think this may have deterred Dr. McKindsey from taking me on as a new patient. Had she given me the opportunity to see her and work with her, I could have told her that my physician is ALSO in her network (THIPA- Dr. Stanley Klein) and he could have called her and worked with her through my pregnancy. When I asked for an explanation as to why Dr. McKindsey wouldn't accept me, the staff told me, "I don't know and the doctor doesn't have to tell you." Completely unprofessional. been looking around for a female ob for a while. my new primary physician (who i love + have reviewed) referred me to dr. mckindsey, and i love her. dr. mckindsey's staff (esp. katie) is so warm and nice. the waiting area is super clean and pretty spacious. i didn't wait too long, considering i was a new patient. my appointment was for 3:45pm. someone from the office called 3 days before to remind me of the appointment, and to tell me to arrive by 3:15pm, bc the paperwork was going to take 30 minutes. got there by 3:15, was seen by dr. mckindsey by 4pm. out by 4:20. dr. mckindsey was super nice and i never once felt rushed. she took her time with me, and started off asking if i had any questions or concerns for her. after that, she turned on a small space heater to warm up the room for the exam. i thought that was very considerate of her. no ob has ever done that for me in the past. i am super picky about the doctors i go to. i do a pretty intense background check before committing to a doctor, and i feel dr. mckindsey's a definite keeper. read more

Dr. McKindsey delivered all three of my babies. She's very personable and the best surgeon for a C-section that I've ever experienced. A doctor friend recommended her to me as the preferred choice among doctors. That speaks volumes. She was able to address my concerns about scarring after surgery and she was able to eliminate my keloid after I was done having my family. I am very happy with her knowledge and bedside manner. I like to call her Small Hands McKindsey because for me it was important to have minimal scarring and I loved that she didn't have giant manhands for my surgeries. Her staff is amazing. Dr. Allen is great too! We feel like they are family. More importantly she gave me all the care that I needed and monitored the growth of all three of my children in utero. Since I was AMA she ensured that I was properly tested. My children give her 6 thumbs ups! read more

I posted something 3 years ago and its seems to have dissappeared. I am posting again only bc I can see other people now like her! Well I guess you are one of the lucky few. My experience with this doctor was jiust terrible. From the very beginning- she always rushed me and when I asked questions- she suggested that I needed therapy. I had two miscarriages and so when I saw her it was my third pregnancy...everything was fine as far as the baby goes but she practically forced me into getting induced. The nurses at Torrance Memorial call it helping you along- augmentations- PUHLEASE!!! Biggest mistake! She showed up the hospital ONCE and said she recommended I get induced. I was 36.5 weeks. I thought my water had broke but it turns out it didnt! Long story short -I told her I would go back home and rest. She then said- you know what happen to your other preganncies- you dont want that to happen again- do you? OMG! She uses scare tactics. She works on her own schedule. She has about as much compassion as a barracuda! She sucks and her bedside manner is just horrible. Even the nurses at that hospital cannot stand her. When I asked her to deliver at LCM- she said NO. The C section was performed by the doctor on call. She only showed up for the circumcision. She is really a terrble OBGYN. If you had a great experience- then you are in the minority. Back 4 years ago- she did not have any children. maybe she does now- but she needs to really change her bedside manner. I have left that practice and absoultely love my new obgyn! If you are healthy and have no issues and you dont have any questions- then go to her. But anyone with a history of miscarriages- do not go to her. If you ask too many questions- she will suggest that you have anxiety and need counseling. Really! No Thanks Doc. All I needed at the time was a little reassurance that my baby was healthy and thank god he is. Thanks for showing up for the birth of my son! I got to 10 CM and I was pushing and pushing and they saw his head- yet the Doc on call said to do a c-section. Where were you at that time?????? Dr Mckindsey is a very caring doctor. She delivered my first son and I had some complications afterwards and she really held my hand and helped me through those first few difficult months. Now that I've recovered and gotten pregnant again, she's the only one I would trust to deliver us. Because of my previous complications, I'm considered high risk and Dr. Mckindsey is following me very closely. I couldn't ask for a more caring doctor. I highly recommend her to anyone about to have a baby. Sometimes she will call just to check on my glucose numbers since I have gestational diabetes. That's really good service! read more

Dr. McKindsey is very caring, understanding, and knowledgeable. I switched to her care in the beginning of my pregnancy after being seen by a different doctor. I am so glad I did! All of the appointments were great, she answered all of my questions and followed up on all of the abnormal tests. She was always available and called back when promised. Moreover, I could not have imagined a better labor experience! She came in at 3AM with a big smile and delivered my baby within 10 minutes. It was really the happiest day of my life and she was a big part of it. Her office called me to follow up on my recovery after I was discharged. I've had a great experience so far with Dr McKindsey. I was determined to get a female ob, and she is conveniently located right there by Torrance memorial. She is always kind and patient, and helped every step of the way with my pregnancy. I had an induction at 41 weeks and emergency c section. She brought my precious bundle of joy into the world and was very attentive in checking on me every day I was in recovery at the hospital. Patients be warned. I never thought I would be writing a review like this. I've been a patient of Dr. McKindsey's for over 10 years. She delivered both of my healthy babies and I have felt nothing but gratitude and respect for her. Over the past three years, I noticed that the quality of care wasn't what it used to be. She seemed rushed and I never felt like I had any time to ask questions. Her explanations were not always clear, but I trusted her and went along with her recommendations. I had two procedures with Dr. McKindsey over the past 2 years; one to remove fibroids and another to have a procedure called Essure. Recently, I became aware of women having complications with this procedure. I did a little research and discovered there were several lawsuits and warnings on the manufacturers' website that wasn't there when I researched the procedure two years ago. After looking up some information on a few reputable medical sites, I decided to go to the doctor I trusted to gather more information. I want to be clear that I wasn't a crazy patient armed with a handful of articles from questionable sources. I simply wanted to ask questions like... Should I be concerned about any previously unknown side effects? Are you still recommending this procedure? Are there any signs I should be looking for about any potential side effects I may encounter down the road? If I choose to remove the Essure coils in the future, what are my options? I didn't have any immediate concerns, nor was I planning on doing anything about removing the coils. I just went in for some information and guidance from my trusted doctor. What I got instead was a 5 minute lecture about how people should never research anything medical on the internet. Despite me telling her that that was exactly why I was there instead of on my computer, she wouldn't let me get my questions out and continued to go on about how I should only research sites like Web MD and the Mayo Clinic (which I do). I told her I was really surprised by the direction this conversation was going and that I just wanted to ask a few questions. She cut me off and told me that from her experience patients come in after doing internet research and won't believe what she has to say no matter what. I told her that wasn't the case with me. I didn't have any immediate concerns, but just came in get her opinion on a few symptoms I was experiencing and wanted to know if I should be concerned and to ask a few questions. I just wanted some reassurance and information. That was all. She wouldn't let me ask any questions and only said that she doesn't recommend the procedure anymore because it wasn't as effective as previously thought. She said it in a dismissive and casual way. Note that should this procedure not work, the only alternative is to get a hysterectomy. I wouldn't be so casual and dismissive about that!! She had highly recommended this procedure to me for two years prior to me finally going ahead with it. I felt unheard and my trust was completely betrayed. She got a thought in her head the second I told her I saw a new report on the internet that made me want to come in to talk and she refused to listen to anything else. When I said I didn't know where her dismissive tone was coming from and that perhaps I should leave, she stormed out of the exam room leaving me in the exam room with the door open and never returned. I was completely stunned. I have never experienced anything like this in my life and I will be looking for a new doctor. Think twice about seeing this doctor and she is very rough and my knee was already injured before I saw her. She had done a procedure on me and pushed my right foot out of the stirrup causing my knee to bend further than it does and yelled out in pain and told her my knees don't bend and the assistant heard it as well. She made the knee injury worse and now am in constant pain and reported her to the medical center where she works and changed doctors immediately. I totally agree with the person that mentioned her lack of professionalism and has no business working as a GYN. read more

Dr mckindsey is a good doctor, however, she is just too pro torrance memorial medical center for me. I personally think little company of mary is a way better hospital than tmmc. I found out that Dr M is head of O.B. Dept at tmmc, which is why she automatically sends patients there. I had to insist on going to little company, and even then, she told me that she would have another Dr treat me there as she didnt know where things were at little company of mary. (I can only assume she doesn't have rights to work at this hospital) Her office staff is also too gossipy. The receptionist katie is very obnoxious and rude and when I stated I wanted to go to little company, her response to me was "we just love torrance memorial" and she frowned upon me for wanting to go to little company. I did not appreciate being badgered for my hospital choice. Unfortunately due to this experience, even though mckindsey is a good Dr they lost me as a patient because of their one sided mentality about hospital choices in their office. I think that all Dr's should be open to all the hospitals in the south bay, regardless of their strong ties or affiliations toward a particular hospital. read more

I when I first went to see Dr. Mckindsey I thought she was great. Her office was quite, she took her time to listen to my history and concerns. She recommended me seeing one of her colleagues for testing and to get a better idea on what was going on. Not sure what changed or maybe i just did not notice it at first, but after seeing her for the follow up I noticed that she was rushing through my appointments, and pushing me off. I never left feeling informed or clear on what the next step was. I actually felt like I was annoying her. She never spent more then 5 minutes with me, just push me off to the next test or procedure. On top of that her office dynamic changed. The waiting room always packed and chaotic. Receptionist and office staff were unfriendly and seemingly unhappy. I started to dread my appointments and even though I would come with a list of questions I always left feeling unsupported. If you looking for a new doctor and need some help understanding and navigating your health, I would strongly recommend finding someone else. She may have good reviews, but my experience is she just doesn't have time for you if your are . I also had a terrible time with her billing not excepting my medical flex card. To me it that was just the finally straw. I found a new doctor that I love and has taken the time to get to know me and address my health needs and concerns...and it did not take a a year of testing. read more

My experience with Dr. Mckindsey was not a pleasant one and I was very disappointed with her as a medical professional. Five months ago I visited Dr. Mckindsey for an appointment to discuss about birth control methods and being tested for sexually transmitted diseases. After a few weeks, I received a call from Dr. Mckindsey about one of my tests that resulted in a positive but within a few minutes she realized that there were extra tests performed and that my "positive" result turned out to be "negative". Though I understand that medical professionals make mistakes when interpreting lab results, Dr. Mckindsey did not take any responsibility for her misinterpretation and was in a rush to end my conversation on the phone before further explaining to me what exactly happened with my test result. I would have appreciated if Dr. Mckindsey was fully prepared and knowledgeable about my lab results before she contacted me and to have taken the time to discuss my lab results. I contacted Dr. Mckindsey a week after with the intention to have her clarify my lab results. To my surprise, I received one word answers and a annoyed tone of voice. It surprises me how medical professionals can act this way when in the first place if she would have taken the time to explain my lab results and at least provided reassurance to me about my physical health, I wouldn't have called her or been stressed about the entire situation. I am not an MD and I don't work in a lab, so there should be no expectations for me being knowledgeable about the different variety of tests that can be performed and interpreting results. I was greatly disappointed because I have heard many positive reviews about Dr. Mckindsey and after this experience, I truly have no interest in continuing my relations with her as a doctor and I hope I will have a more positive encounter with a new gynecologist in the future. read more

While my encounter with Dr. McKindsey was years ago, I still feel it is valid, particularly considering Connie J's review below. The gynecologist I've been seeing recently retired so I am on the search for a new one in the South Bay who has great reviews. I was reminded of my experience with Dr. McKindsey when looking through Yelp reviews. I was seeing Dr. Campbell at HealthCare Partners for decades until she retired (she was the kindest, most caring doctor ever). Dr. Campbell stopped doing obstetrics before I became pregnant so, while I maintained my patient status for gynecology with Dr. Campbell, I had to find someone else to follow my pregnancy and deliver my baby. I was specifically looking for an obstetrician who had rights at Little Company of Mary Hospital. Dr. McKindsey was listed with my insurance company as having rights at both Little Company and Torrance Memorial. When making my appointment and during my first appointment, I made it explicitly clear that I had made my decision to go to Little Company. Dr. McKindsey was very aggressive in repeatedly pushing me toward Torrance Memorial, despite my telling her Little Company was my final decision. I shouldn't have even had to tell her why I was so insistent on Little Company since, after all, I AM THE PATIENT, but ultimately I felt I couldn't get around explaining to her that my mother died a horrible death at Torrance Memorial when I was a child, I spent a LOT of time there and those were the darkest times of my life. I did not want that atmosphere and that whole experience hanging over me and my family when giving birth to my first, and only, child. Dr. McKindsey was completely flip and unaffected, still insisting on Torrance Memorial. Nice bedside manner... NOT! I ended up walking out the door and never looking back. What a waste of time and energy. I now see that Connie J. states Dr. McKindsey is the head of the OB dept. at Torrance Memorial. That explains it. Dr. McKindsey is lining her pockets by steering her patients there. What a lovely thought - thank you but no thank you. Fortunately I ultimately ended up with an enormously kind and caring obstetrician...very UNLIKE Dr. McKindsey; and had my baby at Little Company. If you want an obstetrician who has a heart, an ounce of compassion/empathy and takes your wishes seriously - stay away; stay FAR, FAR away from Dr. McKindsey. read more

I wanted to take a moment and write my review on Dr McKindsey. I originally went to see her because I was having extreme depression and anxiety and I wanted her to check my hormone levels. After speaking with me for a few minutes she told me she didnt think I needed my hormone levels tested at all. She actually pulled out her phone and gave me the contact information for her OWN therapist. I couldn't believe how concerned and caring she was towards me. She actually called her therapist right then and there and set up an appt for me to go see immediately after i left her office... which i did. Dr Mckindsey called to check up on me and made sure i was checking in with her every week for about a month. I really believe in my heart that her empathy towards me saved my life. I was at an emotional breaking point. I have a disease called interstitial cystitis and she is very knowledgeable and although theres no cure she made me feel like everything was going to be okay! She has a huge reassuring smile and she is an excellent listener. I was at Torrance Memorial ER a few months back due to my IC and the ER Dr asked who my Drs are, when I told him Dr Mckindsey the nurse lit up and said ong shes an amazing Dr, Ive seen her actually save someones life once! I am so grateful for Dr Mckindsey and I would highly recommend her to anyone! I read a few of the negative reviews on here and ai just couldn't believe it! If you are looking for a smart, patient, caring and knowledgeable Dr go see Dr Mckindsey, you WILL NOT regret it. read more

I met with Dr. Mckindsey on a Tuesday for a chronic conciditon of BV and vaginitis I've had since I was sixteen. (I'm 60 now.) I told her that I had many allergies to vaginal creams and that Diflucan was no longer effective. She asked if I'd ever used Terazol3 and I said I don't think so. If she wasn't rushed she may have thought, that's odd, the woman has had this chonric condition for 45 years, Terazol3 had been around for 20 of them and she has never been prescribed a very common drug. Step 2 of her solution was to prescribe Flagyl for the bacterial infection. A knowledgeable doctor would have said upfront that's its very hard to treat both conditions because the medicine to treat a BV causes yeast to thrive, and the medicine to cure yeast infections causes bacteria to thrive. But I didn't know that until after the next horrific day of a drug reaction that had the symptoms of the flu but 10 times as bad. After one dosage of the Terazol I felt like a misogynist had stuck a blow torch up my vagina. On top of that I believe I was also allergic to the Flagyl. It's hard to figure out because both of the drugs when they have adverse affects have the same symptoms. It finally dawned on me that twenty years ago I had taken this vaginally offensive drug and was allergic. So that is truly my fault. But either the vomiting, chills, muscle aches, and nausea were a result of the pain or I was definitely allergic to Flagyl. Google Flagyl and nausea on the Net and it's splattered all over the place. So shouldn't I have been warned? A second thing I found out from my research is that if you even take a sip of wine the Flagyl acts like Antabuse and you will become violently ill. The warning was in tiny tiny letters on the prescription bottle but I still feel that the doctor or the pharmacist should give you and oral warning and leaving that detail out is reprehensible. I called her office three times that day begging for help, advice, sympathy, any caring at all for what was happening to me. Her receptionist was empathetic and said she would forward the message to the doctor. (She was out of the office.) I truly thought that if you call your doctor and tell the office staff you are having a severe drug reaction the doctor might actually pick up the phone and call you. After 30 hours the pain in my vagina subsided and I needed to know Dr. Mckindsey's opinion on whether I should continue with the Flagyl treatment. No reply once again. Flabbergasted, that truly seems impossible that she wouldn't have the decency to answer that because it's very bad to start a treatment and stop suddenly. I think Dr. Mckindsey acted irresponsibly! I was too ill to go to the emergency room and that's what the doctor who replaced her that day instructed. I was as sick as a person could be without actually dying and that's not even being dramatic. If you need a pretty doctor with a sweet personality, she's the one for you, but if you need someone you can count on in an emergency, your garage mechanic will be more helpful. read more

My first time visit with Dr. McKindsey was a good one. She sat with me for about half hour to go over my history. The next visits I had with this MDO were disappointments after disappointments. My questions weren't answered, and my visits turned into 2 minute visits after waiting over half an hour to see her. My whole experience with this Dr was a disappointment... if you are looking for a Dr. who really doesn't remember you (after having several visits in the last few months), then this doctor is for you. But other than that, i don't recommend her at all. read more
