It was a little pricier than I would have expected from a place in the middle of rural Alaska but as a visitor I'm finding out this place was sort of standard price for a nice meal in Alaska. Covid has put every business on edge due to the fact of lack of employees and supplies many restaurants had to close one or more days during the week to be able to make up for these deficiencies. But this place is holding it together known to be a good place to eat - the pastries were out of this world the coffee is fantastic and the food is great definitely the best place I found outside of Denali. read more

The food was delicious and came out quickly. The service was excellent, and you have outdoor seating with a view that can't be beat. This place had it's ups and downs. We ate here a couple times. Once it was very good, both from a food and service perspective. But the second time, nothing was right. One of the best roadside breakfast I've had in Alaska. The skillet's is where it's at. Really good portions packed with flavor. And they also have Texas or Alaska size cinnamon rolls. Colin took excellent care of us and the portions were double what we could eat. Best chocolate chip cookie I have ever had, kids loved their homemade Rice Krispie bars, sandwiches were perfect and sack lunches also included peanuts, fresh fruit, water and chips. My son recently pointed out that our vacations are focused on food almost as much as sightseeing. Uh, yes please. My perfect vacation involves beatiful scenery, some spectacular day hikes, and awesome food and drinks. Well, this vacation to Denali National Park had all that, and the food was superb thanks to many meals eaten at the restaurant where we rented a cabin. Perfect to be able to stroll down to the cafe for a meal and draft beer and play a quick game of cornhole (my oldest and I beat my youngest -18 years old - and my hubby every time - sweet!) while waiting for seating. After dinner you can sit by the stream near a fire and if you aren't stuffed to the brim, you can make s'mores. We never made them. What to order? Everything that any of us ordered was delicious, but our favorites were any of the salmon meals (blackened), and for dessert, the PB and Chocolate bars, the key lime pie and the dessert that I would have had every single time if I'd tried it right away, the rhubard/strawberry coffee cake, warm with vanilla icecream on top. My only regret from the trip was that we tried the coffee cake on our last day, so I only had it once. I'm still dreaming about it. read more

Finally! a solid restaurant in Denali! We had the sampler as a meal to try the deer, mainly. The sampler head a nice salmon spread and a very oniony onion rings (a good thing). Creeksise cafe is a very beautiful and comfortable place. The minute my friends and I walked in we felt comfortable and like at home. The server was able to accomodate all of us with our food, and me being vegetarian i was able to find several options to eat. Recommended to everybody and close to Mountain Morning Hostel. read more

So excited that I found this little gem of a spot about 7 miles from McKinley Village! I stayed at the McKinley Creekside Cabins and this is the check-in desk and Creekside Cafe conveniently co-located together. It's more secluded and less touristy than McKinely Village. It's a sweet little spot alongside a creek...hence the name, Creekside cafe. I ate there every chance I got. They make a couple specialty soups every day and I had a fabulous potato bacon and my favorite favorite, Reindeer Cabbage! Hit the spot. It's a good thing we pre-paid early in the day to pick up that night because it was all sold out by the time we got back from our day's adventures. They offer great breakfast, coffee, teas, and fabulous homemade desserts: strawberry rhubarb turnovers and bread pudding or humongous cinnamon rolls. Creekside cafe also caters for the Denali White Water Rafting trips that include lunch - generous sized make it yourself sandwiches with huge homemade cookies. We ate here after not being able to find anything else open and heard that this place was good. I ordered a burger and my family ordered the halibut tacos and the halibut and chips. I don't think I've ever had a burger cooked more well done than this was. It was bone dry and crumbled like sand. My family unfortunately experienced the same thing with their fish. If you visit Denali, you MUST eat here. It's worth the 15 minute drive. The food was so good that we ate here twice during our 3 day stay in Denali. I had the special - halibut, quinoa with veggies and grilled bread - and then the chicken lettuce wraps for lunch the next day. I also tasted some of my family's dishes as well, including the Alaska sampler (10/10 recommend to get to share - everything is delicious), turkey pot pie, and the summer salad (fried goat cheese + candied walnuts + the dressing = heaven). We also tried a couple of their desserts, including the peanut butter bars, strawberry rhubarb coffee cake, mixed berry pie, and blueberry scone. All of the desserts were above average, but the mixed berry pie stood out the most to me. The service was also very good and our waiters both days were friendly and helpful, although it did seem like the food did take a little while to come out. They also have free WiFi, which was such a relief because the cell service in the area is nonexistent. You did have to walk outside to use the restroom, but they were clean and didn't smell bad. read more

Found this gem after driving around trying to find a restaurant that was open. Boy, are we glad we found this place! Servers we so friendly and even let us sit outside and be served when it was about 45 degrees - we really like eating outside:). The food at this Cafe is fantastic, especially for someone like me with a gluten allergy. If you can withstand terrible, rude, passive aggressive, beyond condescending, snarky staff then this is your place. We stayed at the cabins there and ate here three times due to limited places in the area. EVERY visit we experienced the most rude staff for no reason...we also saw them do it to other patrons. We just moved to Cantwell this summer and Creekside is our go-to haunt. I think we've dropped at least $2k here since June. It's like visiting great friends. The wine selection is pretty dang good seeing it's a half a mile from no-where. They have their own sommelier; Ryan from Texas. Great guy who loves to talk about wine and direct you towards new experiences in enjoying wine. He turned us on to a dry Riesling that we would have never tried; it was fantastic! The menu is solid. Probably the very best fish-n-chips I've eaten on the planet and surely the best in Alaska. The calamari is beyond great. Comfort foods of meatloaf and turkey pot pie round out a great menu. Well, it's a lovely and cozy place. It is by the creek :D and has fire place at the river bank. Good scenery! The cabins are pretty cute. Ours has 2 queen beds and a small table with coffee machine there. But no more other goodies. The restroom is clean. The heater though, it's not very efficient though, which made us chilling there for quite a while. And it's really cold in Sep there. We had dinner there, it's ok, no surprise. And they offer to-go breakfast, but it's silly of us that we had coffee to go the night before... and there's no microwave in cabin. When we ordered.. we didn't think of it... but guess they can find a way to improve on that... We left early in the morning for shuttle, but I guess if i'm there next time, i'd love to stay there again, bc it's lovely inside and i'd hope for relax around the fireplace along the creek. :D read more

Unbelievable breakfast!! I had the skillet with mushrooms, cheddar, and reindeer sausage and it was amazing! My friend said that his blueberry pancakes were the best he ever had. Absolutely one of the most amazing places we have ever had a meal. We noticed this place when we were almost at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge and said we were going to come back the next day and I am so glad we did. They were extremely busy and we came in with a group of 5 just before lunch. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. We were seated very fast, and greeted promptly. The food was amazing. Several of us had the Meatloaf and Eggs, which came with a huge biscut and country gravy over the meatloaf, and home fries. Everything was cooked to perfection and had the best flavor. The atmosphere was fun, upbeat, positive, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who passes by. It was worth every mile of the 14 we had to drive to get to it.
