I only ordered food to go here, but man was it good. I got the Peanut Butter Burger and I loved it. I was not big on the curly fries - they were just too thick which didn't allow them to be as crisp as I tend to like. The music was loud when I walked in, but I was greeted, treated kindly and quickly and really loved the atmosphere of this place. I would definitely spend time at this location. read more

I crossed the street for this... and I wished I hadn't. Irish pub. I expect a few things. A drunk guy, a wide selection of whiskey and maybe some people that work there.... 1 out of 3 and the drunk guy should have been cut off hours before we got there. We sat at the bar. Bartender goes back and forth as does a waitress and another waitress... I think a manager... We just kept sitting. They just kept walking... It got awkward. Finally, a menu appears and a drink ordered. Fish tacos were eh. I got something called an Irish burger which oh my gawwwwwd.... I'm writing this description 5 hours after trying to eat it because it is like a demon that won't let go. Burger implies beef. This was a preformed patty with a LOT of fillers. Hot from a microwave with cheese and corned beef that I swear if swung properly over your head could be used as a cat-o-nine-tails. Knives would not cut it. Teeth could not get through it. Ketchup could not flavor it. Kraut? I love kraut. I got 3 tiny gross pieces of cabbage... Mashed potatoes and gravy. Surely that can't be screwed up... Don't doubt it. The gravy was congealed and the center of the potatoes were ice cold which confirmed the fact everything on my plate was microwaved. Oh. My. Gawwwwwd. Disgusting. I think what really set me on edge is there was a manager type dude that sat at the end of the bar and wanted to schedule meetings with staff while customers waved empty glasses, yelled yooo hoooo.... waitresses just disappeared. Kitchen guy... Needed some help. Bartender had a clue but one guy can't do it all. If you are the owner and reading this - you better do something because your restaurant is on the absolute wrong course. Robert Irvine would shut you down right now. Cool place for drinks. But they are selling literally vegetable beef soup and calling it Irish stew. There can't possibly be a hint of flour to this garbage, it is as soupy as soups come. They paused long enough to take an order and went back to it. I wouldn't think it would be possible to make a Ruben with sawdust, but somehow they pulled it off. I love Irish Bars, especially those that know how to pour a good Guinness. Lots of whiskey to choose from and they also have a pretty good food options like the Guinness Onion Dip, Fish and Chips, and Bangers & Mash. We had a private party on their upper level which holds about 30 people or so. Overall a nice bar in the Haymarket area that's not to far from Pinnacle Bank Arena to hang out with some friends. read more

Took my little 3 year old son to the pub, yes I'm British! We ordered the Fish n Chips and Bangers n Mash. The Bangers (sausages to you yanks) were homemade and very authentically produced. The seasoning was pleasant with a light sage flavour from the bangers which were nice and crunchy after grilling. The mash potatoes were definitely homemade with the potato skins included, a nice touch. The gravy was savory brown with hints of onion. The dish was topped with some butter leaf lettuce drizzled in vinaigrette this added a nice zing to the meal. This was the first actual bangers and mash I've eaten in Nebraska that tasted authentic. Sadly the Fish n Chips were a bit of a let down, the oil used to cook the fish was not quite hot enough so the batter came out soggy. Also the fish needed to be rubbed with salt and seasoning prior to frying, this caused a lack of flavour. There were 3 good sized filets of fish and the potatoes were in copious quantity. I look forward to coming back to try their Sheppard's Pie which is amazingly actually made with minced lamb meat (not with beef which is Cottage Pie). I will be back and found the service to be prompt and friendly. This is a pub not really a restaurant but still impressive. read more

They have a good selection of craft and Irish beers on tap, which was nice. Definitely the best Irish beer selection in town, that I'm aware of. They also have a nice selection of Irish whiskey. The space is nice, with a small upstairs area that overlooks the rest of the bar. I was hoping for a little more of an old Irish pub feel on the inside, but they did a good job overall with the decor. They also have a outside space that looks like it will be nice when it warms up. It sounded like they are adding a kitchen soon as well. Hoping that the beer selection remains strong, as that and obviously the location near the arena make this place appealing. This is a neat two-level pub with decent food. I had a sandwich (forgot the name) that actually had mashed potatoes, pork, and some crazy cheesy sauce as parts of the sandwich. It worked! The bar looked pretty inviting, but I couldn't spring for drinks during business hours. Bummer! ;-) read more

Good Irish pub! Came here on a Saturday night and received great service. The girl who waited on us was very knowledgable about all the beverages they offered. They carry a perky banana nut bread beer that I highly recommend you try! Also patio seating is offered which is always a plus in my book. read more

We just made a quick stop into this cozy little spot, but had such a great experience- I HAVE to YELP it up! Although this place is ground-level, once you head to the bar you might really feel like you're in an authentic basement bar in Dublin. The bartenders were uber-friendly, and made us feel welcome from the minute we walked in. This place has an impressive whiskey and beer selection, and even has some fun drink specials. We tried the "Breakfast Shot" on Sunday special for $4. It was a combo of Butterscotch Schnapps and Honey Whiskey with an OJ chaser. Strangely amazing! I could have wasted the day away in this homey spot if I wasn't careful, be warned Next time we'll come back for the food- the Guiness Onion Dip looks too interesting to pass up! I love seeing all the new life and businesses down in this historic area. Anywho, beautiful Sunday afternoon I see folks out on a patio and NFL games on the TV, the perfect place to stop. We sat at the bar, ordered draft beers first n got the menus. We ended up ordering Guinness Onion Dip, Bangers and Mash and a coup of Stew to go with. Everything was perfection- we were informed they even case their own bangers. Any way, then we got a drink menu and ordered some of the custom Summer drinks and was happy. The owner Nathan was working the bar and was great. Super friendly and knowledgeable. He made the trip fun and interactive. Anywho, then while getting ready to pay the bill we got to call a coin flip for Luck Of the IrishSunday- dollar off everything ordered. We called wrong but still got the deal. Love it. I really want to like this place because it has a good feel. However, serving Irish beer in Bud Light glasses just doesn't work for some of us Irish beer snobs. Also, in this location, every other restaurant is serving burgers that weigh about a half pound. Yours are a quarter pound, based on your menu description. That's a tough sell. I'd like to see an upgrade to the food and service here because we could really use a true Irish pub. read more

Though it's not anywhere close to an authentic Irish Pub, this is still a great place to spend some time, have a few drinks, and get some food. The Saturday evening crowd was lively and everyone seemed to be having a great time. There are a good selection of drinks available, especially Irish beers, whiskeys, and Guinness combos (Black and Tan, etc). If you're interested in trying some of the more expensive Irish whiskeys without buying an entire bottle, this is a decent bet. The place was clean and the servers and bartenders never seemed to stop moving. Always busy is a good sign. Our server was extremely nice, helpful, and attentive, even though it was starting to get pretty busy. The food was surprisingly good, and I would have no hesitation in ordering the Irish stew or shepherd's pie again. After mooching a sample of the fish and chips, I found those to be good as well, with the fish actually not being over-battered, which was another nice surprise. For me, the wings were decent, but nothing special. If I was here and craving wings, I'd get an order - but my preference would be some other place for wings when planning ahead. The venue is small but that doesn't keep people from packing it in. There is a loft upstairs with a handful of tables. I stopped in one night for the shepherd's pie which is a great way to judge an Irish bar. I found the dish to be lacking in flavor. Though it was supposed to be lamb I had a hard time discerning any lamb flavor which is typically distinct enough to pick out. Also the mash on top had a weird floury consistency and was not properly singed on top. What made up for a C-grade dish was the friendliness of the staff and some of the fun drink concoctions they put together. It's a good bar for having a few pints and making some conversation. If you are not sitting at the bar and not drinking perhaps its a pass. read more

Stopped in for a drink on the way to another gathering and we were very pleasantly surprised. There is a great selection of both beers on tap and by the bottle. Of course, with an Irish theme like "McKinney's", there was a heavy emphasis on Guinness. They also have a very nice selection of signature mixed drinks to offer. Since it was cold out that might, we tried the hot buttered rum (and they make their own butter concoction in house). It was absolutely delicious and I would recommend it to any adult wishing to warm up with a delightful drink. I can't wait to go back and try the food next time! read more

Very disappointing. Inside offered only high chair seating, so we sat outdoors. Ordered corned beef and cabbage - there was plenty of corned beef, but only one leaf of cabbage. The cabbage was used as a garnish rather than as a vegetable serving. Food was served lukewarm. Potatoes and carrots were overcooked and mushy - seemed like they were prepared a few days ago and served as leftovers. There was no real taste to the food. It was certainly not like any food I had in pubs in Ireland. Our server was very friendly, so A+ for service. The food just wasn't very good. read more

First time trying this place, I ordered the French dip with Irish stew as a side, and an order of mild chicken wings via delivery. When I got my food, the bread on my sandwich ( I only got half of a sandwich btw ) was completely burnt to the point it was black. The stew was SWEET!? And the chicken wings were nothing but fat and skin, almost no meat on them. Absolutely NOT worth the money. Definitely will not go back. What a shame. Everything was inedible. read more

Cask beer is such a flavorful treat. New England clam chowder with potatoes, bacon, celery, onions and clams is thick and creamy. Corned beef, Swiss, sauerkraut and 1000 island dressing makes a really good Reuben sandwich. The place is in a busier area than their other location in Grand Island, so parking is harder. read more
