The guy behind the counter really could not have been more rude. Even being right in front of me, he could not bother to look up or say hello. After waiting 30 seconds he simply looked up with a bored expression on his face. I told him the parts I was looking for...he quoted me $1500 just for a duplicate key fob not including the programming which would have run hundreds more. When I told him the dealership in El Cajon quoted me $1100 total, he just shrugged his shoulders and I left. This place will not be getting any of my future business, for sure.

I was hoping to get Safi's insurance information to start a claim, but the person I spoke to on the phone insisted that they didn't have insurance and I needed to speak with the renter's personal insurance. How is your business renting cars and you have no insurance of your own and are passing liability down to the renter? That is against California state law, which requires car rental companies to hold their own insurance in the amount of at least $5,000 for property damage. I've started a claim with the renter's personal auto insurance and if Safi doesn't want to give me that information, I hope they give it to the insurance adjuster that will be calling this week. And I really hope it doesn't come to the DMV asking them some pointed questions about their lack of insurance and refusal to cooperate with third parties who are legally entitled to this information. Advice to those who find themselves in my situation: don't waste your time calling Safi directly the way I did. Just start the claim as a third-party with the renter's personal auto insurance and let their adjuster do the legwork for you.

I was impressed by his knowledge of Mercedes but more so, his attitude and approach. There were no delays or handoffs or any of the other tactics we've all come to expect at a dealership. None of it. In addition, there was a small issue with the registration - nobody's fault. Sales Manager, Michael, sent a runner to me so I could sign it. Another indication of a well-run dealership. If I ever crossover to Rover, this is where I'll buy it.

Because of their self-described high end service I foolishly trusted that any product they sold would be properly serviced and ready for ownership. I purchased an older Cadillac Escalade from them on April 25, 2026. The mileage was 58,000 and the SUV looked well maintained inside and out. I had an appointment on a Saturday to pick it up. As I was driving home to Fallbrook, trying to learn the control system I saw multiple messages flashing on the dash. At home I sorted out they were a tire pressure monitoring system problem and a suspension system problem. I looked everything up in the owners manual - then called my sales rep first of the week. Standard answer - " bring it by". It's an 80 mile round trip and my personal responsibilities don't allow that. I tried asking them to be specific about a plan of action but no success. I proceeded to have the local tire specialists sync up the tire monitoring system, but the suspension problem was very serious. After having it quickly put on a diagnostic system close to home it appeared the front left shock absorber was failing. It had been replaced by Land Rover SD weeks earlier. I pointed this out to them - explained I couldn't be "stopping by" with the mileage involved to do that, could we work something out etc? Maybe at least help defray the cost of proper replacement (they had used after market parts that failed) etc. I was polite, courteous, but my phone calls weren't returned and my detailed email went unanswered. I had the proper replacement with the needed GM parts done near home at a GM dealership. It cost just over $2,000. Who knows what kind of work Land Rover would have done even if I had a way to be making that trip since they totally botched it the first time. Again, my advice, do not trust Land Rover SD to treat you fairly in a pre-owned vehicle purchase. They were perfectly happy sending me home in a vehicle they had serviced that was left with problems that the service dept clearly had to know about since they created them.

Again I got no answers just that my car had to be assigned to another technician in regards to an oil leak and thanked for my patience. No answers. No one ever called me to discuss diagnostic results. Just a link to a report with suggested repairs. We used to bring our car here for everything but it has really gone down hill in customer service.
