Parking on side, directly off 64th St and Hollis

Love this coffee company! McLaughlin's quality, roasts and flavor options surpasses Peet's and other local and shipped coffee companies I have tried. Their website's interface is intuitive, user friendly, easy to navigate and limit to favorite roasts or browse all available. I signed up for the newsletter and each month I receive a discount code towards a coffee purchase along with additional promotions and discounts - so worth the extra email and there is no limit to purchase. Pickup for your item(s) purchased is super easy and can be made same day if placed early enough (time is on website), next business day for pickup up or shipped. Their location is in Emeryville and super easy to access off the freeway or from Ashby street area. It's near the Chevron over the bridge leaving from Emeryville Bay or Marketplace. Parking can be a bit but easy to manage. The pickup window can be easily missed, so look for the sign that reads PICKUP. The company is on the corner of 64th and Hollis. There is no in store shopping as it is only a pickup location and orders have to be placed in advance. Worth the drive and time. Be mindful of the daily lunch scheduled closure other than that ...Enjoy! I always do!

a cup of coffee surrounded by coffee beans

About eight months ago started looking into smaller roasteries and found McLaughlin. They sell wholesale and retail. Lucky me! They have a large selection of organic whole beans and lots of options - blends, single origin, fair trade beans. Their online ordering system is easy and my order is usually ready within a couple of days. It's a quick drive, easy street parking and I pick up from their window at the side of the building. I am looking forward to drinking my way through their offerings. Some of the bean sources might change up so when I receive an email, I'll check to see if there is something special to try. Fair prices, excellent customer service, friendly people here. Being able to brew up an espresso or a great cup of coffee certainly starts off the day on a good foot.

I recommend highly this light-roast Mexican coffee, which I purchased at the Monterey Market

Although I have been dimly aware of McLaughlin Coffee for some time, it didn't occur to me until recently that they might be roasting coffee at the level of Bay Area roasters like Ritual or Four Barrel. The turning point for me was the observation that Nabolom Bakery has been selling McLaughlin coffee during the pandemic. I purchased a pack of Mexico organic at the Monterey Market last week. The coffee was freshly roasted when I bought it, and it was noticeably cheaper than the coffee that I had been buying. When it came time for the taste test, McLaughlin passed--with flying colors. I like the coffee a lot and plan to try other flavors (roasts) when I see them for sale.

Update to review....I still love McLaughlin and each time i pour a cup I need to tell (only my foodie friends) about this place. I love that they roast their beans then sell them daily. Although I'm a small customer they really make the effort to extend great service. A few Chef friends of mine sat down to taste various suppliers and everyone, on a blind test, selected McLaughlin as the favorite. I've set them now as our house coffee.

Fresh an organic coffee.

Loved this coffee big time. It is so fresh an Organic and so good. Definitely will come back to pick up for next time.

This is their most popular blend!

I tried their Lemon Blossom Latte because I've never seen this flavor of latte at any other store and it was good! The lemon taste was prominent but not too overpowering and paired well in an iced latte drink. I also tried their Chocolate Almond Croissant which had a nice crispy exterior and not-too-sweet filling that I enjoyed. The ambiance is very cute given the cottage theme and the staff were very friendly. There is free wifi at this cafe (though connection is a bit weak), but barely any outlets (I couldn't find any for myself when I was there). Not sure if I'd do work here, but there are plenty of seats both indoors and outdoors for people to sit at. Overall, a charming cafe I'd recommend for catching up with friends or enjoying treats in a cute cottage-themed space!

It was bright and acidic with fruit and floral notes. The texture was lighter than I prefer but not watery 3.5/5. The house blend was more my style. Nutty and chocolatey notes came through and were balanced with light acidity. Same good layer of crema and texture that was light for my taste 4/5. They also had a solid pour over selection with the different beans. Worth a try next time I visit.

Baristas explained that they are up for trying different and sometimes unusual combinations for their customers. I wasn't adventurous this time, but it made me want to explore in the future. I came here to work, hoping for a relatively warm and cozy spot that wasn't too sleepy. I was not disappointed. The wifi was good, music was fun and unobtrusive. Decorations and layout gave a friendly, welcoming environment. Not only were the benches and padded chairs comfy, the ambiance was kept even in the bathroom. Spacious, warm lighting, cute bathroom with a great mirror and cool sink. I don't ever ding places for hospital-looking bathrooms (you know, fluorescent lights, questionable floors, sand paper toilet paper...) but this was one of the few where I was impressed. Good to know: Jaffa cakes are only available on the weekend Parking: Some of the streets nearby are resident-only parking so make sure to double check!

I ordered a cortado which was good while the hubby ordered the orange latter. We were told ordering it iced makes it a tad sweeter and that was correct advice. They've also got a good sized menu for coffee and tea drinkers alike.
