I recently hired them to install a new water heater and replace a pressure valve. Wes handled all the project coordination -- scheduling, product recommendations, and billing -- with outstanding responsiveness and care. He answered every question promptly and patiently. When he learned that we had been without hot water for several days, he went out of his way to rearrange a busy schedule and send technicians the *same day* to install the new heater. That level of consideration is truly impressive. As always, Jesse's work was exceptional. (He previously installed a shower for us.) In addition to completing the assigned tasks, he took the time to explain how to maintain the new heater and how to minimize damage if a leak ever occurs. His craftsmanship was precise, clean, and efficient -- a real professional. I strongly recommend McLendon Home Services and will definitely hire them again for future projects. read more

McClendon home services division replaced 2 second story decks that sit over rooms on the first floor. That fall we noticed leakage in the kitchen above the cabinets. We called, someone came out and supposedly fixed the problem. After being away for several months in the winter/spring, we came home to 2 other major leaks/stains in the dining room/kitchen/living area. Someone came out to fix it, but mainly to deny that the new deck had anything to do with the leak (we had NEVER had a problem in 13 years). When we had the original roofers come to repair the damage, they found the major leak source in a place where the deck people had inadvertently sliced into the membrane in deciding to reroute the downspout, other damaged areas were smaller holes probably due to heavy boots or stepping on fallen nails, etc. Since then, as advised, we sent a registered letter, which was received and have heard nothing back, so unfortunately the next step is small claims court. read more

DO NOT USE: We were quoted $6K for a shower kit install. Upon completion of the work, it was immediately apparent that the installation was defective and did not meet acceptable industry standards. Specifically: No water membrane was installed behind the shower kit, rendering the installation non-compliant with waterproofing best practices. No caulking was applied to seal seams, leaving the installation vulnerable to water intrusion and damage. The walls and surrounding trim were not plumb, which made it impossible to install a functioning shower door. A McLendon's supervisor subsequently inspected the installation onsite and acknowledged the poor workmanship. We were informed that the matter would be addressed, but despite multiple follow-up phone calls, we received no further communication or resolution from McLendon's. Nevertheless, the remaining balance of $3,100 was charged to our account without our authorization or consent and without any resolution to the aforementioned defects. We ended up having to demo everything and start over with another contractor who did an amazing job. read more

I had been causally looking to replace my water heater as it was getting up there in years. I had no idea McLendon's had home services, but have always liked their service in-store. I received a quote from Dean and had the service scheduled a month and half out to fit my schedule. Their quote was really competitive and I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better quote that includes a 6 year labor warranty!! First and foremost, Dean is a really stand-up guy. Easy to work with and really customer oriented. To be honest I don't know if I would've gone with McLendon's initially because I didn't know much about their home services...I was merely casually shopping around for a water heater replacement. Dean really gave me peace of mind explaining their services and installation process which really sold me. He was also able to move up my install because the burner failed on my existing water heater. I am also scheduling some additional services with them in the next couple weeks as well. So here's a funny review - I got a quote from McLendons Home Services for a deck resurface, I ended up going a different vendor because I chose a material they didn't offer, but I think they still deserve a great review. First off Frank was very professional, knowledgeable, and prompt with a quote - his follow up on questions was great. And their pricing was actually very reasonable, I got quotes significantly higher from others for the same job. So no, I can't comment on the work but without question I'd recommend checking them out - they were great to work with on quoting and reasonably priced. read more

Sometimes good reliable "Service" is more important than value because it can save you "Time" in projects you do yourself!!! This is where McLendon's is hands & feet above Everyone Else! Part of that service is they will give you the right advice in repairing somet which can possibly save you extra money spent in doing twice. Not sure why that happened.. Came in to buy a Codel CON-22105 front door to replace the older style one. No one in the door department. The rest of the salespeople are walking around with no eye contact, or they are very busy working with a comp screen (pve) vs pvp. Finally one lady talks to me but (of course!) she is not from the door department. She calls another person that never comes back, after 15 min waiting I am walking to exit but get handed a piece of paper with a phone number and a comment:"if you call this number they will be able to help you, this is the manufacturer" Really? So I call them so they can help me order a door??If you are a distributor they will send me back to you, they will never sell it to me direct! Why 2 star? One for the way I left when I was ready to place a $1000 purchase, second star for MacLendon carrying Codel brand doors, but what's the point if you can't buy it!? read more

Used for entire home window replacement. From the attention to detail in their bidding process to the execution of the final job and their customer service, I was pleased with the entire process. They were not the cheapest guy on the block but their price was absolutely competitive and their value was superior. Their estimator asked all the right questions to help us plan our job and get a configuration that represented what we really wanted. Their installers were professional and skilled. We had no issues with them at all and would gladly have those same folks back for other projects. They set a high standard for craftsman. The finished windows look amazing. They made only 1 mistake in the entire process and handled it so well without us even having to press them on the issue that it only makes me recommend them more. Great work by Terry who fixed a door install. The initial install was done incorrectly with gaps and the door was off center. We called Mclendons Home Services to fix the issues. Terry showed up on time and diagnosed the issues and told us exactly what needed to be done and did it. The door and trim he installed are perfect. For: McLendon Home Services, Tukwila, WA I spent several months seeking out professionals to replace a 40 gallon hot water heater in my condo. Over and over I was met with disappointment as they either didn't listen, charged a fee to come to my home to tell me what I already know, tried to sell me services I didn't need or want, were way overpriced; and in a number of cases, no one ever followed up or called back. After a visit to the McLendon's store in my neighborhood I was quite impressed. It was well-stocked, clean, organized with friendly, helpful staff. I decided to contact McLendon's Home Services for the hot water heater replacement - a markedly different and stand-out experience. I provided comprehensive photos, measurements and an overview of what was being replaced and where. Within 24 hours I received a very well-thought out reply with a detailed quote - at a reasonable price. Every single step of the communications and process with MHS/Christian was speedy and professional! He was flexible on my condo's HOA requirements, getting the required city permit where I live, and he easily answered every question. Within a couple of weeks we were scheduled for the replacement. MHS's plumber, Jesse, did a top-notch job. He is highly knowledgeable and proactive, ensuring the hot water heater not only functions as it should but that the install was neat and clean. This is the second time we've used McLendon Home Services and had already decided we would be customers for life.  Every contact we've had with them, from customer service over the phone and appointment planning to the actual work in the house has been handled by them  in a professional, friendly, extremely helpful manner.  This time we were pleased to see they had an advertised special on Angie's List for exactly what we needed.  They were contacted both via our special offer purchase on AL and an email I sent directly to them containing pictures of the current faucet and sink set-up so they would have an idea what sort of replacement parts to send out on the truck on day of service. Jesse, their installation professional arrived punctually and was very thorough in all he did, having to labor over one of the under the sink valves for some time.  He showed all the work to me, explaining what he'd done, and the area was left clean and organized. The folks at McLendon Home Services are truly customer service-oriented professionals who provide a high level of excellence in every aspect of their business as we have experienced it.  While I hope not to have to use their services again any time soon, it is quite heartening to know they'll be there when we need them.  We highly recommend them without hesitation! read more

He provided a quote that was lower than all three other quotes I received from other businesses. I am a 24 year vet of electronics and home improvement products. When I need something that's just beyond my years I can always find someone at McClendon that knows what I'm looking for. That is invaluable to have great staff that actually know the stuff that they're selling. As a contractor I absolutely swear by them. If I could give them 10 stars I would. I am not one to leave reviews very often but I felt like the staff there is so awesome that I had to. I purchased thermostat units for a customer to update, and one of theirs was beyond my years of expertise. A condo that was built in 1970. Definitely different than I had ever seen. Your sales person help me tremendously and I got it taken care of. I wish I could remember names better but I'm just going to say that this is over years of going to McLendon. they have always been knowledgeable and great with customers. I recommend them 100%!!! I've come to Mcclendons since it was a little dusty two-story building next to the river. I've always thought the extra I paid for the products more than equaled to the high-quality service and until today it has. They reduce their lumber department To a quarter of the size and stocked it with mainly extremely expensive pieces. After fumbling through the assortment without any help I stood and waited for over 20 minutes for somebody to cut it. There were three of us in line. I was then directed to the plumbing department and back to lumber department then the special service desk to find out they don't stock ceramic tile. There were some more things I want to buy but since I spent 45 minutes buying two things I thought I better leave while still daylight. When I go to the big box stores I don't mind standing around and getting sent all over the store. I expect it. They offer very low prices in exchange for minimal customer service. I won't waste my time or my money with Mcclendons again. After 30 years of shopping here I'm really disappointed read more

We got a screaming deal from them to install five new windows. They were great! Our installer was professional and did great work. He Laid cloths down everywhere he was working to make sure he didn't leave a mess. He even took his shoes off when in the house knowing we had just gotten new floors. The support staff were wonderful. They worked with us to create an optimal schedule. They stayed in contact, providing updates and reminders. I really wish I could give them a full five stars for customer service, but I can't in all honesty. It started off really well, and then ended up in a nightmare. I asked for seven windows to be installed in my home. We had a perfect start. I emailed them the approximate dimensions of the old windows that needed replacing and they worked out the best and most economical way to get them. We agree on a date for the installers to come in. Day of installment, I took time off from work. That morning, I got a message from them: "hey, sorry to say, but we have to cancel the installment because we noticed defects in one of the windows as we were loading them in the truck. We would prefer to not have to install a defective one and come back later to fix it. Let's reschedule." I thought it was great of them to catch and error before it snowballed. Days went by and finally the second installing date came. They installed the windows nicely but did not paint the outside trim around the window. I assumed that they would paint the trim after installing, but nada. After installing, the installer took me around and pointed out that one window was malfunctioning/broken and two had missing screens. He said that he would have McLendon contact the window makers to have them rectify the defects. I was taken aback. Why would they cancel the first installment when the windows were defective but go ahead with the second when three of them were defective? After more than a month of no activity to fix the defect, I called McLendons to ask what was going on and when my defective windows would be fixed. No one could answer my question and I was given an 800 number to call (turned out to be the window manufacturers customer service number). It took a further six weeks for Cascade windows to send their technician to repair the faulty window and put new screens for those that were missing. The project started in April this year and was only JUST completed in August. read more

The best. THE. BEST. Have you ever tried to figure out your plumbing project at a Lowe's? Where half the staff ignores or hides from customers and when you finally find someone who will talk to you they DON'T KNOW ANYTHING? That's not the case at McLendon's. The employees seem like they are actually OK with being at work, the people in the departments actually have knowledge about their departments and, it's BIZARRE, are friendly during interactions with customers. I love this place. I am here often and have always recieved the same great service while working out the details of my many projects. THANKs to the staff. You guys make my day. read more

I hired McLendon Home Services to build hand rails on the deck at my house. The quality of their work was not very good but they offered me a discount and I was able to use the money they discounted me to hire another contractor to come and fix their work and make the hand rails usable. I will not be using McLendon in the future. read more

I had McLendon Home Services install a new Navien 240S tankless hot water heater. Jesse came out and visited our home to look at our existing hot water heaters that failed so that Taylor could create a quote for us (we had a non standard situation). Taylor called and went over the different options and prices. The price was very fair and they were able to get the installation quickly scheduled. That Friday Jesse did the whole installation and removal of our 2 old tank hot water heaters. He also found a minor problem with our plumbing that was not up to code and corrected it. The installation carefully done and you can tell that he takes pride in doing a quality job. We love the endless supply of hot water. Thank you! Our neighbors have had some problems with water pressure - so we had ours checked as well - way too high. Talked with others who have had regulators installed - many paid over $1200 for this service - We called McLendon Home Services - got an appointment that worked for us - Jesse was right on time - checked out the issues - had the part needed with him and in less than 1 hour installed the regulator and tested the water pressure - Cost was just over $400. We had Mclendon Home Services install a new front door for us. We had decided to go through them since I wanted to have a CODEL door installed for our front door. CODEL doors are manufactured in Tacoma, so we wanted to go with a local product but also wanted to make sure it was installed in a way that was quality and would last. I had read some horrible reviews online from Home Depot and Lowes about manufacturing issues with another local door competitor, Feather River Doors, so we decided to steer clear of them. And we are frequent customers of our Puyallup McLendon's who have always treated us well. We got into contact with Cyndei (works the mclendons home services desk in Puyallup) who connected us with an estimate in switching out our old, original double wooden doors to a single wide door with two sidelines (a dreamy combination!). The quote we got (with all the accessories we wanted included- hardware, peep hole, trim, special glass) was about spot on with what we expected. The quote came back $3,054 for what we wanted. What we didn't expect was the cost for painting the door would ultimately add on another $1,000 just for paint! So we opted to just get primed door with no paint (we could paint it later ourselves for way cheaper!). The reason we gave them 4 stars is because in the middle of getting the door ordered I was getting conflicting information from Terri (installer/estimator), Erin (Mclendon home services base office?) and Cyndei (puyallup home services). People seem to not be communicating about the specific hardware and details we wanted on the door and that was somewhat annoying communicating between multiple people to get our order straight. Terri did a phenomenal job installing our door and we admire it everyday- so many compliments from friends and neighbors! read more
