I drive out of my way on the old route to the beach just so I can stop by McLeods. It's a great place to get some home baked goods, ice cream, and fresh produce. They also have hot boiled peanuts, canned peaches and pickles, as well as a butcher and tractor/car museum. I don't always get dessert but this time I did, and I had the blackberry cobbler a la mode. Peaches were amazing! This place had so much to offer! Homemade items, goodies etc etc. it was so worth the stop on our trip between Charlotte and Myrtle beach. I bought fresh peaches obviously vine ripened from the tree. The best I've had in years! We also got a peach enchilada served warm ( something like a cobbler only different type of style) I ordered it with fresh peach ice cream_ it was the bomb! Probably one of the cutest pit stops I've ever made. The whole establishment is such a nice warm environment and super lively. Fresh peaches for sale at a such a good price. They all look equally as good which was awesome. The peach cobbler w/ ice cream came out to only 5 dollars which is a complete steal! So much peach flavor in the cobbler but the crust could've been crispier. A bit mushy. The ice cream isnt made in house so if you were looking for fresh peach ice cream this isnt your stop. Purchased a box of 1st quality peaches and after bringing them home found they were mealy, tasteless and not what we would consider 1st quality. Wound up throwing out about half as they were tasteless and literally inedible. My wife sent them an email about it and didn't even receive a reply. Very sad. read more

Notably near the Carolina Sandhills, this market offers some fresh produce as well as packaged goods and ice cream. I found a few interesting things including some (seeded) muscadines and frozen pecans. The peaches one expects I did not find; I guess I am not wise to the peak peach season. McLeod's is a tradition that families have observed for generations. My Yelp pal Mitch K states it correctly when he says, "You all know that you are doing it right by stopping." Hard to argue. How many of us have hit this roadside farm for a needed bathroom break (clean, too), "needed" sundries, fresh produce, and some warm cobbler. OK, the hell with the veggies and give me a bowl of seasonal cobbler with a glob of ice cream melting into it. Insane. There is also a tractor museum, a butcher shop out back, and various things for kids to do around certain holidays, etc. McLeod's is a no-brainer destination on the way to the beach. Give 'em a whirl and see if they don't become a tradition for you, too. read more

Peaches are awesome! Juicy but firm. Definitely need a napkin handy when you take that first bite.

A friend of mine from Northern VA travels to SC in June every year, and he brings up a whole load of peaches for friends in VA and MD. This year, some of the orchards had been impacted by a late frost, so we did not know how good the crop would be. But the peaches he brought us from McLeod Farms were really delicious. I made a peach pie today and it looks terrific. read more

OMG! The Strawberry Shortcake is outstanding with Vanilla Ice Cream!! Best I've had in a very long time! Bought 2 of the peach enchiladas but not as impressed. Somewhat like peach cobbler, more gooey crust than peaches. It was okay. Wouldn't get again, but would always stop for a Strawberry Shortcake! McLeod's is a great place to stop to get good local produce at a reasonable price. It also has wonderful sweet treats like fresh peach enchiladas and scooped Tony's Ice Cream. It's a neat store to store browse and is conveniently located on the way to the beach for many people. It's definitely not a tourist trap, as the locals shop there. (We did when we lived nearby.) They have rocking chairs out front where you can sit and enjoy your ice cream. There is also a great restaurant on the grounds- Bigs Meat and More. read more

Fantastic roadside market with fresh strawberries and other produce. They also have half loaves of various fresh breads including banana nut, apple, peach, and sweet potato just to name a few. They stock all sorts of jams (sadly no plum though) and honey. If you're passing by, definitely a good place to stop and buy a few items. read more

We always stop here when we are leaving the beach! The staff is always friendly and the ice cream and cobblers are so yummy! They have all types of fresh fruits and veggies. My friend and I always go to McLeod farms to get vegetables and fruits. We try not to eat their sweets too much but sometimes it's hard to resist! With that being said it's usually good! Yesterday we went and we both ask for peach cobbler. We were told they had one helping left. It's 1:30 in the afternoon so it sorta surprised us! I told them to give it to her and I took the last helping of blackberry cobbler. They were both horrible! Her peach cobbler was nothing but a gooey flour mess with one peach in it and no crust and my black berry cobbler was dry and hard as a brick! It was over $11:00! They need to stop and look at quality control because that was a lot to spend to have to throw it away before we even got to the car! This is an experience and I'm not trying to deter anyone from going here! It's usually so good! It's worth the trip to get all of their goodies such as their different breads or ice cream and peach enchiladas etc! It was just disappointing that we were served something that bad and we would have rather her tell us that they were out completely then serve us something like that! read more

Stopped on our to and from the coast. We picked up produce and other items. Everyone loved the BEAR Jam (4 types of berries) and those of us who like pickles thoroughly enjoyed the Fire Sweet Pickles (something like that). We had to pick up more to bring home! We enjoyed several bakery items+ ice cream. The blackberry cobbler with pecan praline ice cream was some of the best I've had. The peach was quite good as well. Of the breads, the banana bread was the favorite (we tried three kinds). This will likely be a rest stop whenever we pass thru. read more

Love the home made ice cream wasn't fond of the customer service. Not everyone in South Carolina has the Souther Hospitality that we expect. I'm not sure whether this was just a bad day, but no one greeted you with a smile or even a "Hey how yall doing" in their Southern drawl. Everything's home made so its probably preety good. They did give out complimentary cake with your coffee or hot chocolate so it was preety good. What stood out to me was the woman in the ice cream section that Was kind of rude. Didnt say much of anything but just looked at me. She was a bit strange. Anywho the home made ice cream was delicious. Hopefully when I return the service will be better. read more

Love this place. We always try to stop on the way to the beach. The best homemade soft serve peach ice cream! $3.00 Inside lots of fresh fruit & veggie produce, jams, gifts, and a couple delicious ala mode pastries. Nice rocking chairs to sit in and relax. A new meat house restaurant around the left side of the building that has good prices but I didn't have the opportunity to eat. A free antique tractor & old car "museum" by the restaurant looks quaint and cute. Nice for some pictures I suppose. There's always a crowd and interesting variety of people walking through. Stopped based on the places reputation. It was PACKED. The store lay out and check stand placement are not well thought out. Or, maybe they've just out grown the place. The check out line for the main store was snaking against the wall all the way to the back wall and then other side of the store. They do have plenty of peaches and contrary to what others have said, they do have labels on the smaller quantities ( ice cream peaches for instance ) so you have some idea what you are getting. At least they did on this visit which was my first. The only reason I gave one Star off was what I saw on my debit account after I got home. We purchased 2 things ( a $25 case of peaches ) and 1 small $3.92 bottle of peach cider. Paid for the case of peaches with cash and the small cider with a debit card. Inserted the card into the card reader. Cashier announced it was $4 total. Got home and there is a $16 charge on my account. The cashier did not offer a receipt so I don't have one sadly and will just chalk it up to a lesson learned. Next time I'll just bring cash. Peaches are great and the cider is ok. read more

Celebrate a long-time tradition of those driving from Charlotte to Myrtle Beach on Hwy 151. McBee is the little town about half way there and you will see billboards for McLeod Farm-stand whether approaching from north or south. You all just KNOW that you are doing the right thing by stopping. The farm grows fruit, especially different forms of peaches. You can buy boxes, bushels or little bags of them. We loaded up for the beach, ate a box during out week there with family and then took another box for home on the way back. They also have fresh produce and bakery items. The best part is that they have a little kitchen that puts together cobblers and sells ice cream. So if you'al want to do it wryite, get a berry or peach cobbler with a hunk of ice cream on it. Good for breakfast, lunch or dinner times it makes for a super nice driving rest stop. There are also restrooms and you can wash up there. At some point in the year they have kid things, wagon rides, a maze and kid oriented creepy characters roaming around. Early and late in the season these activities are not going on. They have a screened in eating area filled with picnic tables which is still hot in the middle of the summer, but at least it is shaded. Large parking lot if you are driving an RV or truck, so not a problem. Just watch your running around and going crazy children. Go for at least the tradition but my guess is that you will not leave without something...hopefully in your stomach. Most everyone does it. read more

This place is kind of in the middle of nowhere and on a road with not much around. I stopped here while passing by one day as it sparked my interest. Atmosphere - There seemed to be a lot of locals during my visit, the place is part farmer's market feel and retail store, good descriptions of products (warned that the blackberries would be bitter....and they were) Products -On this visit there was a large selection that ranged from fresh and seasonal from the fields (e.g. blackberries, pumpkins, peaches) to prepared goods (e.g. breads, ice cream, jams), and country style nick-nacks. Prices - While higher than your local Walmart, the products seemed reasonable since you are getting locally produced goods with minimal preservatives. Overall - This was a good visit, despite my blackberries being bitter (I was warned!) I really enjoyed the Apple and Sweet Potato breads that I purchased. Sweet little country store for fresh peaches, strawberries, and honey. *The best locally sourced honey I've ever had* I however was very disappointed that a lot of the baked goods were not locally fresh made and the homemade ice cream was such a disappointment. I was expecting actual homemade ice cream, like anyone would imagine a homemade fruit ice cream would be. It was instead soft-serve and tasted fake and very unenjoyable. I remembering going when I was young when it was real homemade, I hope they really bring that back. read more
