I seriously thought I wrote a review for this already... turns out I haven't yet. (This review is based on happy hour food and service.) Last time I came here with two friends during happy hour (around 4pm) and ordered: Two set of wings $ 5 each Two set of tots $1 each Hummus and pita $2 Lemonade + RC They have a pretty good happy hour selection- it's under $5! [+] Great customer service. Refilled our drinks without it being empty. That's bonus points in my book. The wings that they serve are pretty meaty, which I like. [-] The lemonade that they serve is yuck! (I just wish the waitress told us that the lemonade isn't all the great, so I don't have to taste it in the first place. I enjoy that they put a McMenamins on Monroe. It was lacking a 'nicer' establishment that was not 'fast food' eating. It's a bit small, but neat bar right smack in the middle, plenty of huge TV screens for game viewing, booths below and an upstairs seating area as well. Generally good, with attentive service. Unique decor, with pool tables upstairs. Unlike the (few) other McMenamins that we have been to, this location has pizza. It usually is very good, but you will never get the exact same pizza twice. They have what they advertise, but the various items vary in amount. The biggest concern with the pizzas is you have to be careful...we have found that they often come out undercooked, to the point of almost being raw dough at times. When cooked, they are among the best in town! Menu is extensive enough, and typical for McMenamins. Pricing is reasonable. Wait times are usually minimal, however with OSU being across the street, it can get busy. read more

Service was good but of our party of four, 2 of the meals were quite sub-par one of which was my own meal. Wife also pointed out several times how dirty the floor was as was the raised spot next to our booth where she laid her purse. She said she was going to take a wet wipe to her purse as soon as we got home. Otherwise, ambience was nice. read more

I have gone to McMenamins Monroe location multiple times and it has always been just okay. The food, the service, the atmosphere. This most recent time we asked to play pool. Bar tender said someone was playing, but we could wait upstairs. Waited for a bit but one of the tables was empty. Started racking the balls and this waiter came up to us really hostile and came off as a complete d**k head. I was so pissed the way he talked to my friend we all left. I like the atmosphere of this place. The Reuben was really good. The corned beef on the sandwich was thick and moist. Sweet potato fries were very crispy. They have tots too but I didn't have any. The things I didn't like were the salmon tacos. The salmon was over cooked and they didn't not have salsa for the tortilla chips so I had to eat them dry. The service was also slow. read more

It got all the stuff all most mcmenamins have, plus some pool tables, and cool art on the walls etc. I do really like how the bar is situated, it's really sunken in, so not really visible from the emtrance. The only reason I gave this restaurant two stars is because the service was attentive during a very slow night. The food on the other hand was ever cooked. I select the fish and chips which should have been a signature dish but turned out to burned mess. The coleslaw was tasteless. This is, without a doubt, the worst McMenamins in the entire state of Oregon. I've been a patron at alot of Mcmenamins in the last 15 years and I realize they can be a great place to eat, drink, and catch a concert. For some reason, this one doesn't live up to any decent standards. Since this one opened on Monroe's, it's always had a reputation for slow service. I think it's the fault of the managerial staff since there is usually only 2 servers scheduled for the entire restaurant. The food could be decent, and at the price, it should be delicious. However, what ends up happening, is that someone in your party will not even get an ordered meal since there is a mix-up in the kitchen. This has happened the last two times I've dined at this McMenamins. Last night was one of the worst times I've ever dined at this McMenamins and it will be the last time. Not only did someone not get her meal until 20 mins after the rest of the food at been delivered, but the server was extremely misleading. My partner asked for two mixed drinks at the same time since he knew the service was slow. Also, it was during Happy Hour and thought it would count as a well drink. The server told him that he couldn't bring him two mixed drinks but asked him if he'd just like a double instead. My partner didn't think it would be that much more, so he ordered that. (If he had known that a small tumbler would cost $14, he would not have ordered it. This isn't NYC.) Later, while we kept waiting for food and service, he ordered a second double. When the bill arrived, my partner had been charged 4 expensive mixed drinks. Turns out that well drinks are only one type of liquor. The server should have been forthcoming, and instead, charged almost $30 in drinks. It was ridiculous, and when I asked about it, the server condescended to me and treated me like I was a child. Between the slow service and the attitude of the server, I will never go back to this McMenamins. It's too bad since the experiences here have affected my general perception of all McMenamins, and I don't know how likely I'll go to other ones as well. read more

Typical Mcmenamins, but with its own flavor. Went to this location for the first time. Wife and I redeemed our free appetizers with our passports. The wings were awesome, and the hummus plate was just meh. We have had better hummus plates at other locations. But, the experience was nice, and wait staff are attentive and respectful. May stop again someday? But with passports to fill with other locations. So It will be if we are passing through. read more

I've officially been to every restaurant on the main part of Monroe! I really liked this place. I'm pretty sure its the only restaurant on/near Monroe that actually functions like a real restaurant. I loved the decor and it looked like a date place, all dimly lit and whatnot. My friend and I had gotten there 2 minutes before the big rush of people so we only had about a 15 minute wait which wasn't too bad. There was only one couple in front of us. We got to sit in a booth! I love booth seating. It seemed like most of the restaurant was booth seating though. I got the sweet potato fries and the red curry tofu. I asked the waitress if she knew what kind of tofu it was and she didn't. It ended up being fried tofu. I hate fried tofu. Ughhhh. I hate when the service staff doesn't know anything about the food they're serving. It was on their regular menu too so wtf?! The portion of the fries were HUGE. My friend and I shared it and I still had a huge amount to take home. The chipotle ketchup it came with tasted like bbq sauce. Haha. She also gave us ranch which tasted really good with the fries. My friend got some club sandwich that came with fries. Service wasn't bad but it was realllllly slow. I hardly ever got my water filled. I think I saw our waitress twice and she would literally just run pass with a EVERYTHING OKAY? K!! *woosh* gone. read more

Friendly wait staff. Ordered the tater tots. They tasted like the cooking oil and everything else cooked in it. Not horrible, but weird. Then my chicken strips showed up. Slightly more tender than really overcooked chicken and they also retained the exciting flavor of tater tots and everything else cooked in the deep fryer. It was not good. Now I remember why I used to drink when I was here... because it was waaaay better than their food. I really don't know what to think about McMenamins. I've been here plenty of times, and every time I leave somewhat disappointed. The food is pretty good. I usually get the BBQ Chicken Pizza. It takes forever to get, but I understand that many times if pretty packed. Sometimes, however, it takes even longer just to have your order taken. It takes nearly 30 minutes to get water and order a drink if you are there during busy hours. I wouldn't say the service is outright horrible, but instead, understaffed. One time my friends and I went to McMenamins on a Saturday afternoon. It was fairly empty and we decided to sit at the bar. We sat down for almost 25 minutes, at the bar, before we had our drink order taken. 10 minutes later, we got our first beers. No problem. Then, however, we decided to just order a pitcher. We put our order in right away after our first drinks were delivered. Nearly 30 minutes later, after the bartender had disappeared the entire time, she brought us our pitcher. We were all a little upset by this point so we just asked for the check. Low and behold, we got our check very quickly, but it wasn't alone. The bartender poured us another pitcher, and informed us it was on the house for us being so patient. We gladly thanked her, and our sour moods soon turned back to normal. She was genuinely sorry and went out of her way to make sure she made it up to us. McMenamins needs more servers like her and I'd give them 4 stars. This McMenamins is really hit-or-miss. I've had a few good meals and some really lousy service for late night drinks. I went one night with friends; they were almost empty and it took almost an hour to get a round of beer. I don't know if that's normal or not, as I haven't really been back to check. The food is your typical McMenamins pub-style fare: burgers, fries, salads, you know. This place is seems to attract a strong college-age crowd, so come here if that's what you're looking for. Personally, I far prefer the McMenamins in downtown Corvallis (420 NW 3rd St)- it's quieter, cozier, with far better service. read more

I can't believe this place has a 3 star rating. Worst service in Corvallis. The criteria to work here: Bad servers only. When it's NOT busy, on average it takes 10 minutes just to have a server greet you. The food takes 30+ minutes to come out, which would be fine if it didn't look and taste like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for half the day. For one of my classes we had to do an experiment to test service depending on what you wear. We chose this place because we knew it would be bad service and we'd have a lot to write about. This place is so disappointing, I've been waiting since my freshman year for it to get better...Well I just graduated and it still disappoints. The service is the biggest downfall. My lunch break starts at noon; I got there at 12:05. It was NOT busy and it took 10 minutes to get seated. Once seated, I kid you not; it took 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken. Once we ordered food it wasn't too long of a wait. But when we were done, we didn't see our server for about 20 minutes! At this point I was already late to be back at work. I don't know if its complacency or lack of training, but the efficiency of servers here HAS to be improved. As far as food goes, it's just OK. I have never been a huge fan of their beers, Flat tail and Block 15 have them beat by a mile for Corvallis brews. The atmosphere and location is what's great about this place and is also what keeps me coming back, though this may have been the last time. Came here last night after watching some volleyball action over at Gill with Keiko since both of us started to get hungry. First things people think of when it comes to this place is Tater Tots. Cajunized tater tots. Terminator. Rubenator (?). Stuffed Burger. It's a weird situation trying to balance out the really good food and drinks with the service. We ordered Cajunized tots to start off our meal. Keiko ordered the Cranberry Chicken Salad Sanwich and I ordered the Chicken & pumpkin-mole enchiladas. Both were on the specials menu which always seems to be appetizing and never dull. This is one of those places where you care to hangout with friends, have a beer, watch a game, kick back with a beer on the table while playing pool and care even more of how soon your beer and food is served to you. Inconveniently I didn't have my camera on hand to document this unique concoction of an enchilada. There was chicken, black beans, green chiles, monterey jack cheese, and the pumpkin-mole sauce which was tasted so new to me that I can't really say whether I loved it or question if I wanted it again. In the end I ate it all so that tells me something. Paying the bill was interesting. A plus for splitting up everything however I owe Keiko $2 for the soda they put on her bill rather than mine -_-. We didn't want to wait an extra 5 min to flag down the waitress so I owe Keiko whenever I see her again this week. I've been on the McMenamins passport quest and after a long day of driving and 6 Mcmenamins later, we stopped here. It was our last Corvallis stamp, so we decided to claim our prize since we were hungry, which was any appetizer. We decided on the chicken wings with voodoo sauce. We still had a couple hours to drive, so unfortunately no beer for us. The wings came out fast and I was quite surprised by the heartiness of them. There were 10, pretty meaty wings and they were delicious. The voodoo sauce was amazing! Just the right amount of spice that doesn't over power the flavor. It also came with some carrots and celery and bleu cheese. I really liked the atmosphere of this Mcmenamins. Upstairs were some pool tables and along one wall they had sinks and piping as a decoration, which was awesome and I wish I had taken a picture, because it's hard to explain. I ordered a cheeseburger and, honestly, the ones at Burgerville are better and for a third of the price. It came with tater tots and they were solid, but that's sort of hard to mess up. as long as you go in with the expectation of bar food, you will not be disappointed. This is not haute cuisine nor does it pretend to be. It's just bar food. Well, I have mixed feelings about this place. The service isn't that great, but it's a great place to meet up with friends to have a beer. Several times, my friends and I have been ignored by waitresses, water is never refilled, drinks have been made wrong, it has taken over an hour to get the drinks we ordered, we had to pay for a tiny container of ranch to dip our tater tots in. But, still, we kept going back. I guess it's just easy to forgive the restaurant's transgressions because of all the fun times we had here. The staff there are amazing! Upbeat, friendly, and helpful. The bartender was very awesome and made sure i had what i wanted. Even the manager was amazing! My only complaint is that the brothers who own the place bring in a waaay higher salary than the staff here. i don't know how much the staff make, but i'm sure it isn't enough to compensate for their hard work. However, seeing as how the "groovy" Mcmenamins vibe is blandly and unoriginally corporate, it's no surprise there's a wage gap. Pay your workers fairly, Brian and Mike!!! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. To start, I don't think our waiter could have been anymore dismissive of us. She clearly did not want to be work and it was apparent. We came for happy hour and ordered 2 Ruby's, tots, a couple of quesadillas and a burger. To start it took 20 minutes to get wonderfully warm beer! Then, it took 30 minutes for our food to come out and oh boy I could not tell you what took so long for the worst food ever. The quesadillas we got we cold and literally child size. Imagine making a mini quesadilla with only cheese although the menu says it includes onions and cilantro, and then cut it in half and that's what we got. One cold and plain cheese quesadilla and one cold chicken quesadilla. If this is the same quesadilla served on the regular menu, this place has issues. When the tots came out, they were also cold and it seemed the only thing that came out right was the burger. However, while the burger was being eaten, a hair was discovered on the bottom of it. To top everything off, we were charged the full price for the burger rather than the happy hour price and needed to get it changed and all we got from the waiter was "oh," no sorry or apology at all. As it has already been mentioned, the service has been hit or miss for me as well. Sometimes it really awesome and the servers are on top of it. Other times I just sit there and sit there and sit there, it seems like the server is annoyed I need something. Anyways, regarding the food, if you have been to one Mcmenamins, you've been to 'em all pretty much. If you have never been before, its basically higher quality bar food. This is the better of the two locations in Corvallis. It's on campus, so parking can be a challenge, depending on the time. I love sitting upstairs at this place. Nice view of the venue and the bathroom fixures on the wall (you have to go there to appreciate). Service can be slow and getting your servers attention, well, isn't always easy. Had dinner here on a Thursday night. I've been to almost every one of the McMenamins in Oregon and unfortunately have had the same experience every time when it comes to the food. Very basic menu and very basic tasting food. I would expect this from a lunch cafe type of place, but not a pub like this. I suppose I'll keep coming back simply because I love the vibe of all of these pubs, but perhaps I'll just stick to having a beverage and not a meal. All the servers here are really polite & professional and do an excellent job. Its best to come during Happy Hour times (3pm-6pm & after 10pm) when its less busy with the dinner crowed. Specials are usually pretty good, though I wish they rotated their specials more often, and the burgers and pizzas are the usual decent McMenamins fair that's appropriately priced and delicious but not "the best I've ever had" quality. If you've never been to a Mcmenamins and are grabbing a beer, be sure to order a "Rubinator" which you'll never find on the menu but that your server or bartender will be happy to tell you about. read more

Came on a Friday afternoon. Pretty empty, granted it was spring break. Seated fast and had drinks in minutes. Restaurant was visually clean, nothing dirty. Huge place has a couple pool tables and shuffle board and jukebox. All the food was on point, chicken wings were fall off the bone. Parking is a bit odd. Watch the meters our front. One was only a 24 min spot. Definitely a better Mcmenamins we've been to. read more
