My friend lives close to Mcpherson's and she's been inviting me to breakfast for a while, so I finally had a free morning to go. I've heard this place had the humongous cinnamon rolls and I knew I had to get one. The small could feed 3 people easily and the family size is HUGE. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and bacon. The bread was fresh made and the gravy was delicious! Coffee is always piping hot and service cannot be beat! This place gets busy and I can see why. The food was great, service was outstanding and the homemade bread, cookies and cinnamon rolls are the stars here. If you're ever by Millington, stop by here. I was at McPherson's about 10 minutes before they opened Saturday morning. I figured this was good because there were at least 5 vehicles there with people waiting for them to open. The American fries were the closest thing to what my mother used to make a long time ago. Service was excellent. She talked about the cinnamon rolls. I bought a small one to go which was anything but small (very delicious I might add). I was an hour away from home on my way through for the day's activities. My wife and I will go there soon. Great 4 piece fried cod dinner! We LOVE this place, and it's 60 miles away from us! We still make the drive now and again just to eat here. The bread, and the cinnamon rolls are OFF the charts! All the servers are great, and we've never had any issues here about anything. As for ambiance? It's an old-school diner, and IMO, that's a GOOD thing! When visiting Frankenmuth, skip Oma's (bland food and expensive) and make the 15 minute drive to McPherson's. Food was amazing, service was excellent, prices were very reasonable. Little diner in a small town, but it seems like a place where everyone knows each other. The bad: 1. The lock on the (not so clean "woman" restroom was broken. 2. When I got up to go to said restroom, they started to clear off my table -- before I was even served! 3. It took FOREVER for my omelette to come. Seriously, it was over 35 minutes! 4. No WiFi. The good: 1. The omelette was very good (once it finally came). 2. I LOVED the homemade white toast. 3. You can buy HUGE loaves of said bread for $2 4. HUGE cinnamon rolls for $3 5. We use the Columbiaville to millington bike path 2-3 times a week, usually Ending here for breakfast. They have the best coffee the friendliest staff and good food. Only reason we give it a four-star is wish they had a bike rack for bikers it come down the path and go there. Cute little diner. I met my friend at 9 and it was already busy! Our waitress was sweet and my coffee was always full. I ordered an omelette with sausage gravy. I thought I had the perfect portion, nothing was greasy or sloppy and I could tell the bread was homemade. The American fries were perfectly cooked. Then I spotted the cinnamon rolls when I was paying. $2.99 and they were huge! When I got home, I microwaved it and put my fork next to it. It was as large as the length of my fork!! For a family restaurant, if your expectations are set there, this place is very good. Breakfast was good but what puts it over the top for the baked goods. We bought a Cinnamon roll and each took a hunk of it for three days, it was so big! We bought a loaf of the bread that had dried cherries in it and it was absolutely fantastic. They have breakfast all day and I love my egg white omelettes so I ordered a veggie egg white omelette with Swiss cheese. I got tomato slices instead of hash browns and rye toast. The absolute best cinnamon rolls I have ever had!!! There is a giant one that will feed 5-8ish people. There are smaller ones that are for 2+ people. They have fish perfected. Never a greasy bite and always good quality fish. They offer a variety of homemade breads for sale and even sliced for you if you prefer. There are cinnamon rolls the size of dinner plates, blueberry muffins and other great confections. Their menu board reads of good things most of us remember from the farm tables back home. Meatloaf, steak/potatoes, goulash, stuffed peppers, cabbage rolls, fantastic walleye and perch, baked chicken dinners and so much more. Though they don't cater to vegetarians or vegans, there are several items still to choose from. The restaurant is clean, bright and very homey. Bathrooms are always clean. McPherson's is one of those places you look at and know you'll instantly be recognized as an out-of-towner passing through. Still, we had to go in. While the decor and staff weren't anything to write home about, the food and giant loaves of bread you can take home were. We ordered onion rings and fish sandwiches. Nice small hometown cafe. Daily specials plus menus to order from. Hubby got the meatloaf dinner...very generous. I ordered the soup, bean..and a "stacked" beef sandwich. Soup was very good and hot. The sandwich was ehh, OK. It was just a ragular beef sandwich that was grilled. Had some grisly pieces in it. But then, we had a hot fudge Sunday that all four of shared...see photo. We were camping in Otisville and wanted to go somewhere for breakfast. My husband found this place on Yelp and I was skeptical. When we arrived, there was a line out the door. We were seated quickly and the service was very friendly. My husband said the pancakes were the best restaurant pancakes he had in years.
