We ate there this past Sunday at the one on Battlefield. I wanted Arris (by far the best pizza in Springfield) but knew they would be packed. I remember loving McSalty's back in the day...but either they changed or my taste buds have grown up. The crust was bland. Blah....mediocre at best. My son counted 35 pieces of gum stuck to the bottom of the table so, mind your trousers! The servers were polite. My menu was ripped in multiple pieces and the kitchen was confused as we were served someone else's appetizer. Appetizer: toasted ravioli, frozen, freezer burned, over cooked (burnt) however, the marinara sauce was quite tasty. Pizza: it had a unique crispy wheat crust. This didn't pair well with typical greasy meat toppings and processed shredded mozzarella cheese piled on. It would be better suited with fresh cheese, tomato slices and basil. The table was very small and the pizzas are not served on little stands to help with the table being crowded. Summary: save your money, you can cook a frozen pizza at home and get better flavor and quality for less wait and less money. read more

My pizza was stuck to the paper plate. There was little evidence of any sauce. It looked like a can of pineapple was just dumped on top of the pizza. When I got the piece unstuck off the plate the whole topping fell off. It was extremely wet. Normally it's not like this. Hope it was a one time thing. read more

This is one of my all time favorite places to eat... HOWEVER!!!! The staff is ALWAYS rude and the prices are outrageous! I think that the owners need to get rid of the staff that would rather be ANYWHERE but at work and hire staff that will come at least refill your drink and smile and pretend that they want a tip. both my fiance and i eat here all the time and we have never once been treated nicely. We have started calling in our order and carrying it out because of the staff. If the service was better, we wouldn't mind the price, and we would have our business meetings there again. Better service = More customers!! Maybe the owners need to remember that. read more

I am a fan of McSalty's pizza, but previously visited the Sunshine location so this was my first ever visit to the store on Battlefield. I liked the decor much more here, it's dated in the same way as the other McSalty's, but still very nice and cozy and seems to be clean and well maintained. The pizza was exactly what I expect - thin wheat crust, plenty of cheese, good sauce, and not skimpy on the veggies (Guru's Delight). Simple dinner salad was fine, no problems. However, I can't go higher than 3 stars with this rating because the service was honestly lacking. Our server said very little to us and never commented about it taking much, much longer than expected to receive our pizza. She was basically mute, verging on unfriendly and I don't know why. She wasn't a "kid", there were several other servers working, and the restaurant wasn't extremely busy. We are not overly needy diners and don't need a bunch of chit chat but this wasn't pleasant at all, especially since the pizza took so long to arrive that we were seriously thinking of paying for the salads and leaving. Also, the water tasted VERY off (possibly the ice machine in need of some help, I don't know). I would probably opt for the Sunshine location again in the future just based on this visit. read more

I have eaten at McSalty's since the 80's and the service on 09/15/2017 at 7:00pm was absolutely horrible. The two blond waitresses could have cared less about working and doing their job. They were more concerned about leaning on the bar and talking to each other. We had a wonderful hair in our garlic bread and sauce, which my daughter pulled out of her mouth. We let the waitress know and her response "Sorry 'bout that.". Then she walked off. Guess what? We still got charged for the garlic bread and sauce. Then we needed refills and after raising our hand and saying "mam" as they walked by us 10 times, we actually had to flag down the hostess. It was AWFUL! I literally cannot believe how rude those two "teenage girls" were. read more

I could not find anything to complain about. The pizza crust is thin and crisp and delicious, baked to perfection - not overdone, underdone, too chewy, or too hard. I split an 8 inch pizza and a salad with a friend and had a nice healthy meal until we splurged on splitting a slice of carrot cake! The carrot cake was worth the calories! I like it that the booths are closed in on 3 sides, separating you from diners on both sides. The seats are also not connected to the next door booth so you don't get bounced up and down when those customers sit down. read more

The best thing about this restaurant was the ice in the drinks. Server had BAD attitude. Pizza was served burnt, no staff seem after pizza was delivered, waited 5 minutes looking in kitchen (open door), finally seen by cook who got waitress. To put it in a nice way, she was not receptive to verbalization of dissatisfaction. Guess she doesn't like tips and she definitely does not belong in customer service of any kind. Called to place an order to have picked up, and they refused to take our office order. They were too busy. I was in shock and still shocked that a business would refuse to take an order. Yes they apologized, but that is ridiculous. I haven't had McSaltys in years, and I will never have them again, and neither will anyone in our office. Best.Pizza.In.Springfield. Best crust -- whole wheat and never too heavy. Perfect amount of toppings, my fave is the Guru's Delight, the local hit is usually the Bear Pie. Always great with a pitcher of beer. Miss them on Delmar Street, though. read more

Updating review on 10/5/2015. Went in for lunch today to get a slice of Meathead and they had decided to add canadian bacon to everything on the lunch specials today according to the sign at the front. I don't like canadian bacon and the meathead doesn't normally have canadian bacon on it. I asked the waitress if it had canadian bacon to make sure because it said on the menu it doesn't and I told her I didn't like canadian bacon. She just said the special comes with canadian bacon and didn't seem to care if I liked it or not. So because they decided to add canadian bacon to everything today I seemed to be out of luck. Apparently it was to much trouble for them to offer to make a slice without canadian bacon like it is normally. So I had to sit there and eat a cheese bread while my mom ate her slice of pizza and a salad, because I didn't want to spend about three times as much to order an entire pizza with the toppings I wanted. The pizza my mom had was over cooked, during our whole meal dirty dishes were never taken away from our table, we were never checked on to see how we were doing, when she brought the check she asked my mom if she needed a refill on her drink. The place seems to be clean every time we have been there and has never been very busy. It's very dimly lit inside, pizza is ok but expensive which is why we have only eaten there for the lunch specials. I'm only going to knock them down to 2 stars because we've had better dining experiences in the past, but after today it will be a long time before we go back. read more

I am not a wheat bread fan.. But I really enjoy the crust on their pizza it's not very strong on the wheat taste, I love thin/crispy crust.. and they meet both. I go to the Battlefield location for lunch several times a week. I rather spend 10.00 for a meal than go to McDonalds for almost the same price and not have fried foods. Their small 1 topping pizza fills you up. That being said. I love pizza, and If you love thin/crispy crust try McSalty's. read more

I have only eaten in one of their places once, thus the four stars. As far as delivery. I LOVE IT. their pizza is great and it is so important to have a good local pizza place. Ate at the McSaltys near the Battlefield Mall. We enjoyed this location years ago and decided to drop in on a Saturday night about one month ago. Only was one other couple in there. They took their glasses up to get more soda, the server wasnt around. The bear pie was fine, not as crispy or saucy or Hot as we remembered. My husband and I were disappointed, we hope the restaurant can make it and do a better business, better service. The 2 cooks in the back were drinking beer. read more
