This place is NY style pizza which people go crazy for around here. It's ok...maybe even good. But here are a few things I'll say and you be the judge: The crust: A thin and very crispy bottom to it. The crust is a good taste - but - talk about such a tough crust to bite thru or (have to) give it a big tug (to bite thru). Sauce: The sauce tastes great. But, today, hardly much sauce in the pizza. Toppings: The toppings are good/fresh toppings. BUT, the toppings are sparse in the pizza. In this day, had a couple of specialty pizzas too (Mondo) and (Garden of Eden). Solid little pizza place. Look, it's not world class. And I'll doc points because I don't think it's the best ambiance for dine-in. In fact, I'm not compelled to dine-in at all. The atmosphere just seems too bland and cold to enjoy. But for take-out pizza, this place is solid. Now, I've only ever ordered a full pizza here and driven home a mere few blocks a way. It has never failed to be satisfying. I've never purchased by the slice, so I can't say much about doing that--though, they look like they'd be dry if purchased by the slice--and not fresh like a traditional NYC-pizza joint would be. And of course, they won't turn over by the slice pizza in the same volume as an NYC shop, so those slices sit there longer than you'd want. They look dry already, so I'm sure the by the slice is. But I spend far too much time in NYC to have faith in their by the slice service, so I'm being a snob, and, again, to be fair, I've never ordered by the slice at this location. I've only ever purchased whole pizzas and driven immediately home with them, and that has always been delicious. read more

I normally don't bother to leave a review, however I just experienced the best dining experience I have ever had in downtown Springfield! The service is just as genuine as the authentic New York pizza they are famous for, I have never felt so welcome in a dining establishment. I don't play the games but they have a good selection, including golf. I am of course going back soon and highly recommend that you do too! read more

Eh, I was really hungry and in the mood for pizza due to a conversation earlier in the day, with the consensus leaning towards a burger, but I needed pie and rolled the dice. I was greeted warmly upon entering and approached the counter to order a standard cheese with Italian sausage. The pizza itself wasn't bad; however, the sausage (though plentiful) was basically tasteless. Also, i ordered pepperoni pinwheels and wound up throwing them away, for they seemed really old and were hanging around just waiting to be reheated when some sucker ordered them to go. My opinion is to play it safe and just get a basic (and boring) cheese pizza. That's your best bet. read more

I was in town for a convention and ordered pizza online to be delivered to my hotel. I opt'd to pay upon delivery. Guess what? Allan (who is awesome, by the way) arrives and I have a tip, but not enough to pay for the pizza. He was gracious enough to call me when he got back to the shop to call for my credit card number. Lesson learned. But, Allan is a great guy, an asset to The Big Slice, and the pizza.....PHENOMENAL. I had some leftover so I wrapped it up in foil and while traveling back home, I heated it up in my hotel room and it was just as good. I highly recommend and next time I'm in town, I will be ordering from them again. read more

The pizza I had was disappointingly mediocre and bland for a supposed New York style Pizza. I paid $30 for a Burt Reynold's 14" pizza and when I got home with it my husband and I opened the box to eat it and in all for 2 toppings that came on it and the $3.00 I paid for an extra topping I think we counted 13 pieces on the whole entire pizza that included all 3 toppings. Plus the crust was so hard we had to bite down and rip the pizza to get it to tear apart. Somebody told me this place had wonderful pizza so I went out in a limb to pay $30 for the pizza. This place is a puzzle. I was staying at a hotel and when I searched for delivery it said this place was - the place. I called and the person taking the order didn't know if they did delivery. I ordered and asked if they could break a $50. They said they could. When the pizza was delivered the guy took my $50 and dashed off. I did want some change... oh well, I thought. I was super hungry after not eating anything all day. It was a great pizza, but quite literally taking well over $20 for a tip seemed a bit odd. mostly i will order from Springfield location ; from my first experience the team were so awesome and helpful and that alone is hard to come across with most pizza places as most workers are not friendly or care to truly be there to help and with that said they enjoy what they create and it's perfect pizza no matter what the slice !! i choose Big slice over any pizza place to pick from and now excited i've experienced the rogersville location and the exact same friendly greeting as you arrive and nerver do they keep u waiting even if u order an entire pizza they get it prepared and served in minutes never have i had to wait or have they ever disappointed and for that u all deserve to hear how great you and ur team are and thankyou for making my experience great very time !! Our pizza was so overdone hard to even take a bite let alone chew it. Also, had very little chicken on it. Had wings and they were awful. Mussy and cut weird- was not your normal bone in wing. Decent authentic New York style pizza. The amount of pizza you get for the price is much better than most chains around however the flavor was not quite there, not bad but couldn't really taste much. My biggest (and really only) gripe with the place is the garlic knots were so bad after a bite and trying to fix them in the oven (failed) I threw them straight in the trash. They felt undercooked, doughy (even after time in the oven), and the seasoning didn't taste right. Overall I would recommend this place if you want New York style pizza with several toppings (or extra single topping) or just want a large pizza and don't plan on getting sides. I would not recommend if you want a flavorful pizza with good sides. read more

Freaking just take my money. The Big Slice has always been my favorite pizza place in town. NY style, massive slices, thin doughy crust, great cheese, and allll the toppings. I love the supreme, the Garden of Eaten Pizza, the Mongo, and the spinach. You can buy a whole pie or get Pizza by the Slice (which makes a great on-the-go meal). Well, for starters, if you're from NYC, you know. The crust is foldable, the cheese and sauce are delicious. The crust is perfect, you don't even need any toppings. This is as close as I'll ever get in Missouri to real NY pie. My only suggestion? In NYC all the pizzerias have a container of garlic powder on each table. It's a staple. I was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up and raised in various neighborhoods in the borough of Queens, NY. I lived in Astoria, Woodside, Rego Park, Forest Hills, & Howard Beach. So I know NY Pizza! I moved out to Springfield, MO to be closer to my Niece & Nephew a year ago. The one thing I kept saying to my Nephew is that I missed NY Pizza. He suggested I try The Big Slice as they claimed to have brought their pizza making skills & recipes from Astoria, NY. But many claim to have New York style pizza only to leave me disappointed. So my nephew brought over a Pepperoni Pie for me to try. When i saw it I said well for the first time since I left New York I was seeing what looked like a genuine Howard Beach style Pizza Pie. I tried a slice slice and I said to my Nephew OMG! I haven't had real pizza like this since I left New York! I was eating genuine Queens, NY Pizza! I said to my nephew from now on this is the only pizza I will order here in Springfield, MO! Since then I ordered their Mongo Pizza Pie which is an all meats pie! My next challenge will be to try the Garlic Gnots and Pepperoni Wheels. I need to see if everything is genuine but I have a feeling I won't be disappointed!
